Abstract
This study employed bibliometric analysis to examine the current literature on Behcet Syndrome, an autoimmune disorder with complex pathophysiology and inadequate therapeutic options. The researchers collected 3,462 publications related to Behcet Syndrome from 2010 to 2021 via PubMed and conducted co-word and social network analyses to identify research hotspots and potential future directions. The co-word analysis produced a bibliographic data matrix, which revealed 72 high-frequency medical topic title (MeSH) terms. Using repeated dichotomy in the gCLUTO software, the researchers created a visualization matrix that classified the hot topics into six categories over the 12-year study period. The first quadrant contained six mature and well-developed research topics, including biological therapy, immunosuppressive agents, clinical manifestations, complications of Behcet Syndrome, Behcet Syndrome diagnosis, and aneurysm etiology and therapy. The third quadrant comprised four research topics with potential for growth, including Behcet Syndrome genetics and polymorphism, immunosuppressive agents, biological therapy and heart diseases, and thrombosis etiology. The fourth quadrant encompassed the pathophysiology of and quality of life in Behcet Syndrome as well as psychology. In the social network analysis, the researchers identified potential hotspots based on subject keywords close to the network's edge. These included genetic association studies, antibodies, genetic predisposition to disease/genetics, and monoclonal and humanized therapeutic use. Overall, this study's bibliometric analysis of Behcet Syndrome literature from the past 12 years identified unexplored subjects and developing hot spots that could lead to potential research directions for Behcet Syndrome.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Ovarian cancer is a serious threat to women's health, and resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs constitutes one of the principal reasons for ovarian cancer recurrence and the low overall survival rate. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to develop additional and more-effective drugs to combat resistance to chemotherapeutic drugs. Cucurbitacin B (CuB) is a natural compound found in food plants such as bitter gourd and pumpkin, and it manifests favorable antitumor effects on a variety of malignant tumors. PURPOSE The present study aimed to determine the mechanism effects of CuB overcomes tumor-drug resistance in ovarian cancer. METHODS We used CCK-8, Edu, flow cytometric assays and cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer xenograft mouse model to evaluate the cellular proliferation, cellular apoptosis.and tumor growth. We subsequently applied a pharmacoproteomic approach to analyze the molecular mechanisms by which CuB inhibited the proliferation of cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells. We also employed western blot and molecular docking experiments to verify elements of PI3K/Akt/mTOR pathway expression. RESULTS We found that CuB inhibited cellular proliferation and promoted apoptosis in cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cell lines. We discerned that CuB inhibited tumor growth of xenograft mouse tumors. We ascertained that treatment of A2780-DDP cells with CuB resulted in the differential expression of 305 proteins, with 202 proteins downregulated and 103 proteins upregulated. Of these proteins, the mTOR protein was significantly downregulated in the drug-treated group. We also found that CuB inhibited PI3K, Akt, and mTOR and that it activated cGAS expression upstream of PI3K and inhibited ATR expression. Molecular docking experiments revealed that CuB was hydrogen-bonded to mTOR proteins at Gly (2142) and Thr (2207), with a binding force of -10.2 kcal/mol. CONCLUSION Our study confirmed that cucurbitacin B inhibits the PI3K/Akt/mTOR signaling pathway, targets mTOR, suppresses the proliferation of cisplatin-resistant ovarian cancer cells.And we also found that cucurbitacin B induces DNA damage, activates cGASA and recruits IKBα,playing a crucial role in eliciting anti-tumor immunity. We herein uncovered a new use for CuB in inhibiting tumor-drug resistance, providing a novel approach to overcoming chemotherapeutic drug resistance in ovarian cancer.

Abstract
Background Pulmonary embolism (PE) is a popular area of research in the field of respiratory medicine. We performed a bibliometric analysis based on PubMed database to characterize the distribution pattern of literature and knowledge structures related to PE. Methods Literature pertaining to PE from January 1, 2017, to December 31, 2021, was retrieved from the PubMed database. Bibliographic information was generated using the Bibliographic Item Co-Occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB). The visualization matrix was established using gCLUTO software. Strategic diagram analysis was performed using GraphPad Prism 9 software. Social network analysis (SNA) was generated using Ucinet6.0 and NetDraw 2.084 software. Results Out of all the retrieved MeSH terms and subheadings, 52 MeSH terms/MeSH subheadings with a high frequency were found, and hot subjects were sorted into 6 clusters. The strategy diagram showed that the epidemiology, etiology, and drug therapy of PE were well advanced. In contrast, studies on diagnostic imaging, pathology, and complications of PE were still immature and offered potential research space. Social network analysis showed that marginal topics such as surgical treatment of pulmonary hypertension, prevention and control of postoperative complications, and metabolism and analysis of fibrin/fibrinogen degradation products were emerging research hotspots. Conclusion Objective analysis of the research developments in the field of PE can provide intuitive knowledge structure for researchers and clinicians. Analysis of the research hotspots related to PE is helpful for researchers and clinicians by highlighting future research directions.

Abstract
Background: Knee osteoarthritis (KOA), a chronic degenerative disease, is mainly characterized by destruction of articular cartilage and inflammatory reactions. At present, there is a lack of economical and effective clinical treatment. Zhuifeng Tougu (ZFTG) capsules have been clinically approved for treatment of OA as they relieve joint pain and inflammatory manifestations. However, the mechanism of ZFTG in KOA remains unknown.Purpose: This study aimed to investigate the effect of ZFTG on the TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway and its therapeutic effect on rabbits with KOA.Study design:In vivo, we established a rabbit KOA model using the modified Videman method. In vitro, we treated chondrocytes with IL-1β to induce a pro-inflammatory phenotype and then intervened with different concentrations of ZFTG. Levels of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and IFN-γ were assessed with histological observations and ELISA data. The effect of ZFTG on the viability of chondrocytes was detected using a Cell Counting Kit-8 and flow cytometry. The protein and mRNA expressions of TLR2, TLR4, MyD88, and NF-κB were detected using Western blot and RT-qPCR and immunofluorescence observation of NF-κB p65 protein expression, respectively, to investigate the mechanism of ZFTG in inhibiting inflammatory injury of rabbit articular chondrocytes and alleviating cartilage degeneration.Results: The TLR4/MyD88/NF-κB signaling pathway in rabbits with KOA was inhibited, and the levels of IL-1β, IL-6, TNF-α, and IFN-γ in blood and cell were significantly downregulated, consistent with histological results. Both the protein and mRNA expressions of TLR2, TLR4, MyD88, NF-κB, and NF-κB p65 proteins in that nucleus decreased in the ZFTG groups. Moreover, ZFTG promotes the survival of chondrocytes and inhibits the apoptosis of inflammatory chondrocytes.Conclusion: ZFTG alleviates the degeneration of rabbit knee joint cartilage, inhibits the apoptosis of inflammatory chondrocytes, and promotes the survival of chondrocytes. The underlying mechanism may be inhibition of the TLR4/MyD88/NF-kB signaling pathway and secretion of inflammatory factors.

Abstract
Background Diabetic nephropathy (DN) is one of the most common microvascular complications of diabetes mellitus (DM), but no bibliometric studies pertaining to DN have been published within the last 5 years. Objectives Most prior studies have focused on specific problems in the DN field. This study attempts to sort out and visualize the knowledge framework in this research space from a holistic and highly generalized perspective. Readers can quickly understand and master the knowledge regarding DN research conducted from 2016 to 2020, in addition to predicting future research hotspots and possible directions for development in this field in a comprehensive and scientifically valid manner. Methods Literature information, discourse matrices, and co-occurrence matrices were generated using BICOMB. gCLUTO was used for biclustering analyses and visualization. Strategic diagrams were generated using GraphPad Prism 5. The social network analysis (SNA) was analyzed and plotted using Ucinet 6.0 and Netdraw. Results In total, 55 high-frequency MeSH terms/MeSH subheadings were selected and grouped into 5 clusters in a biclustering analysis. These analyses revealed that extensive studies of the etiology, diagnosis, and treatment of DN have been conducted over the last 5 years, while further research regarding DN-related single nucleotide polymorphisms, miRNAs, and signal transduction are warranted as these research areas remain relatively immature. Conclusion Together, these results outline a robust knowledge structure pertaining to the field of DN-related research over the last 5 years, providing a valuable resource for readers by enabling the easy comprehension of relevant information. In addition, this analysis highlights predicted DN-related research directions and hotspots.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Trophoblastic invasion at the maternal-fetal interface can affect pregnancy outcomes. To describe an intuitive theme trends and knowledge structure of trophoblastic invasion-related literature from a bibliometric perspective, and provide researchers with new research hotspots. STUDY DESIGN The literature form PubMed database related to trophoblastic invasion from January 1, 2012 to April 30, 2021 were extracted, and then biclustering analysis, co-word analysis, strategy diagram and social network analysis were performed to provide immature, or newly emerging research hotspots for researchers. RESULTS A total of 96 high-frequency medical subjects heading terms were extracted and classified into 6 clusters. Themes in the first and second quadrant of strategy diagram, including trophoblasts metabolism, placenta metabolism, pre-eclampsia, etc., as the mature parts of the research on trophoblastic invasion have been well developed. On the other hand, themes in the third and fourth quadrants of strategy diagram, such as embryo implantation and trophoblasts immunology, pregnancy complication, matrix metalloproteinase and trophoblasts metabolism, habitual abortion and trophoblasts metabolism, etc., are immature themes. Social network analysis suggests that themes at the edge, such as habitual abortion / metabolism, placenta / immunology, natural killer cells / physiology, natural killer cells / immunology, embryo implantation / immunology, are considered new research hotspots and have considerable research space. CONCLUSION By analyzing the research hotspots related to trophoblastic invasion, immature themes and emerging hotspots deserve more attention and can be considered as hints when launching new research projects.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Atopic dermatitis (AD) has been a hot research direction of dermatologists for a long time. However, the knowledge structures and theme trends for AD have not yet been studied bibliometrically. OBJECTIVE To investigate the distribution pattern and knowledge structure of AD related literatures in PubMed. METHODS Bibliographic information was generated by the Bibliographic Item Co-Occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB). A visual matrix was created by the gCLUTO software. GraphPad Prism 5 software was used to construct a Strategic diagram analysis. Ucinet 6.0 software and NetDraw 2.084 software were used to generate a social network analysis (SNA). RESULTS Among all the extracted MeSH terms and subheadings, 77 MeSH terms/MeSH subheadings with a high-frequency were identified, and hot topics were gathered together into 6 groups. In the strategic diagram, immunology, microbiology, and drug therapy of AD were fully developed. In contrast, prevention, pathology, genetics, metabolism, administration, cost of illness, quality of life therapeutic paradigm, and immunosuppressive agents of AD were considerably immature offering prospective scope for further research. CONCLUSIONS The results may potentially aid in describing an all-round grasp of the current research areas and furnish guidelines for the researchers for beginning new projects.

Abstract
Neural stem cells, which are capable of multi-potential differentiation and self-renewal, have recently been shown to have clinical potential for repairing central nervous system tissue damage. However, the theme trends and knowledge structures for human neural stem cells have not yet been studied bibliometrically. In this study, we retrieved 2742 articles from the PubMed database from 2013 to 2018 using "Neural Stem Cells" as the retrieval word. Co-word analysis was conducted to statistically quantify the characteristics and popular themes of human neural stem cell-related studies. Bibliographic data matrices were generated with the Bibliographic Item Co-Occurrence Matrix Builder. We identified 78 high-frequency Medical Subject Heading (MeSH) terms. A visual matrix was built with the repeated bisection method in gCLUTO software. A social network analysis network was generated with Ucinet 6.0 software and GraphPad Prism 5 software. The analyses demonstrated that in the 6-year period, hot topics were clustered into five categories. As suggested by the constructed strategic diagram, studies related to cytology and physiology were well-developed, whereas those related to neural stem cell applications, tissue engineering, metabolism and cell signaling, and neural stem cell pathology and virology remained immature. Neural stem cell therapy for stroke and Parkinson's disease, the genetics of microRNAs and brain neoplasms, as well as neuroprotective agents, Zika virus, Notch receptor, neural crest and embryonic stem cells were identified as emerging hot spots. These undeveloped themes and popular topics are potential points of focus for new studies on human neural stem cells.

AIM To investigate the theme trends and knowledge structure of adipose-derived stem cells (ADSCs) related literatures by using bibliometric analysis. MATERIALS & METHODS Co-word analysis, strategic diagram and social network analysis were employed. RESULTS In line with strategic diagrams, ADSC differentiation and transplantation as main undeveloped themes in 2003-2007 were partially replaced by regeneration medicine and ADSCs for myocardial infarction in 2008 to 2012, and then partially replaced by miRNAs in ADSC genetics and nerve regeneration in 2013 to 2017. Based on social network analysis, regenerative medicine/methods, myocardial infarction/therapy, as well as miRNAs/genetics, and nerve regeneration/physiology were considered the emerging hot spots in 2008 to 2012 and 2013 to 2017. CONCLUSION The undeveloped themes and emerging hot spots could be considered as new research topics.

Abstract
Background The distribution pattern and knowledge structure of choroidal neovascularization (CNV) was surveyed based on literatures in PubMed. Methods Published scientific papers about CNV were retrieved from Jan 1st, 2012 to May 31st, 2017. Extracted MeSH terms were analyzed quantitatively by using Bibliographic Item Co-Occurrence Matrix Builder (BICOMB) and high-frequency MeSH terms were identified. Hierarchical cluster analysis was conducted by SPSS 19.0 according to the MeSH term-source article matrix. High-frequency MeSH terms co-occurrence matrix was constructed to support strategic diagram and social network analysis (SNA). Results According to the searching strategy, all together 2366 papers were included, and the number of annual papers changed slightly from Jan 1st, 2012 to May 31st, 2017. Among all the extracted MeSH terms, 44 high-frequency MeSH terms were identified and hotspots were clustered into 6 categories. In the strategic diagram, clinical drug therapy, pathology and diagnosis related researches of CNV were well developed. In contrast, the metabolism, etiology, complications, prevention and control of CNV in animal models, and genetics related researches of CNV were relatively immature, which offers potential research space for future study. As for the SNA result, the position status of each component was described by the centrality values. Conclusions The studies on CNV are relatively divergent and the 6 research categories concluded from this study could reflect the publication trends on CNV to some extent. By providing a quantitative bibliometric research across a 5-year span, it could help to depict an overall command of the latest topics and provide some hints for researchers when launching new projects.

Abstract
A rapid and useful approach for screening potential bioactive components in Ginkgo biloba extract (GBE) with preventive effect against diabetic nephropathy (DN) was developed using mesangial cells extraction coupled with high-performance liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) analysis. Mesangial cells were first divided into two groups according to their treatments with high glucose or high glucose plus GBE. After incubation for 4, 8, 12, 16, 24 and 48 h, the cells were harvested and extracted with 40% acetic acid in water before LC-MS/MS analysis. Then, 19 compounds and five metabolites were found to selectively combine with mesangial cells. Notably, compounds including quercetin and rutin were identified or tentatively characterized according to the results of retention time and MS spectra, which is highly consistent with our previous reports that quercetin and rutin are potent protective agents against glomerulosclerosis in DN. Therefore, all these results indicate that target cell extraction coupled with LC-MS/MS analysis can be successfully applied for predicting the bioactive components in GBE with preventive effect against DN.

Abstract
In recent years, many epidemiological and toxicological studies have investigated the adverse effects of air particulate matter (PM) on the cardiovascular system. However, it is difficult for the researchers to have a timely and effective overall command of the latest characteristics and popular topics in such a wide field. Different from the previous reviews, in which the research characteristics and trends are empirically concluded by experts, we try to have a comprehensive evaluation of the above topics for the first time by bibliometric analysis, a quantitative tool in information exploration. This study aims to introduce the bibliometric method into the field of PM and cardiovascular system. The articles were selected by searching PubMed/MEDLINE (from 2007 to 2012) using Medical Subject Headings (MeSH) terms "particulate matter" and "cardiovascular system". A total of 935 eligible articles and 1895 MeSH terms were retrieved and processed by the software Thomson Data Analyzer (TDA). The bibliographic information and the MeSH terms of these articles were classified and analyzed to summarize the research characteristics. The top 200 high-frequency MeSH terms (the cumulative frequency percentage was 74.2%) were clustered for popular-topic conclusion. We summarized the characteristics of published articles, of researcher collaborations and of the contents. Ten clusters of MeSH terms are presented. Six popular topics are concluded and elaborated for reference. Our study presents an overview of the characteristics and popular topics in the field of PM and cardiovascular system in the past five years by bibliometric tools, which may provide a new perspective for future researchers.

Abstract
The Clinical and Translational Science Awards (CTSA) program is one of the most important initiatives in translational medical funding. The quantitative evaluation of the efficiency and performance of the CTSA program has a significant referential meaning for the decision making of global translational medical funding. Using science mapping and scientometric analytic tools, this study quantitatively analyzed the scientific articles funded by the CTSA program. The results of the study showed that the quantitative productivities of the CTSA program had a stable increase since 2008. In addition, the emerging trends of the research funded by the CTSA program covered clinical and basic medical research fields. The academic benefits from the CTSA program were assisting its members to build a robust academic home for the Clinical and Translational Science and to attract other financial support. This study provided a quantitative evaluation of the CTSA program based on science mapping and scientometric analysis. Further research is required to compare and optimize other quantitative methods and to integrate various research results.

Abstract
The potential of plant-based remedies has been documented in both traditional and contemporary biomedical literature. Such types of text sources may thus be sources from which one might identify potential plant-based therapies ("phyto-therapies"). Concept-based analytic approaches have been shown to uncover knowledge embedded within biomedical literature. However, to date there has been limited attention towards leveraging such techniques for the identification of potential phyto-therapies. This study presents concept-based analytic approaches for the retrieval and ranking of associations between plants and human diseases. Focusing on identification of phyto-therapies described in MEDLINE, both MeSH descriptors used for indexing and MetaMap inferred UMLS concepts are considered. Furthermore, the identification and ranking consider both direct (i.e., plant concepts directly correlated with disease concepts) and inferred (i.e., plant concepts associated with disease concepts based on shared signs and symptoms) relationships. Based on the two scoring methodologies used in this study, it was found that a Vector Space Model approach outperformed probabilistic reliability based inferences. An evaluation of the approach is provided based on therapeutic interventions catalogued in both ClinicalTrials.gov and NDF-RT. The promising findings from this feasibility study highlight the challenges and applicability of concept-based analytic strategies for distilling phyto-therapeutic knowledge from text based knowledge sources like MEDLINE.

Abstract
Objectives. To evaluate the effectiveness and safety of a Ginkgo biloba extract for patients with early diabetic nephropathy. Methods. Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) conducted on adults with early diabetic nephropathy which used Gingko biloba extract were included. The major databases were searched, and manufacturers of Gingko biloba products were contacted for information on any published or unpublished studies. Two authors independently extracted the data from the included studies. Data analysis was conducted using Review Manager 5.0 software. Results. Sixteen RCTs were included. Ginkgo biloba extract decreased the urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER), fasting blood glucose (FBG), serum creatinine (SCR), and blood urea nitrogen (BUN). The extract also improved hemorheology. The methodological quality in the included studies was low. The explicit generation of the allocation sequence was described in only 6 trials. None of the included trials were confirmed to use blinding. Three studies had observed adverse events. One study using angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACEi) reported mild cough in both groups. No serious adverse effects were reported. Conclusions. Gingko biloba extract is a valuable drug which has prospect in treating early diabetic nephropathy, especially with high UAER baseline level. The safety for early diabetic nephropathy is uncertain. Long-term, double-blinded RCTs with large sample sizes are still needed to provide stronger evidence.

Abstract
UNLABELLED ETHNO-PHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: The scientific proof and clinical validation of Chinese herbal medicine (CHM) require a rigorous approach that includes chemical standardization, biological assays, animal studies and clinical trials. AIM OF THE STUDY To assess the experimental design of animal studies on the activity of CHM by selection and scrutinizing of a series of papers in some major disease areas. MATERIALS AND METHODS We have analyzed the English publications reported in MEDLINE (ISI web of knowledge). RESULTS Our data showed that (i) research of CHM during the last 10 years had been highly intensified and become more accessible worldwide through increased publications in English, although still most authors had Chinese names; (ii) English journals publishing animal research of CHM were comparable to those publishing animal studies of non-Chinese phytotherapy in terms of impact factor; and (iii) published data on authentication and quality control of CHM, as well as research design of animal studies were far from sufficient to meet the criteria needed to support their reproducibility and reliability. CONCLUSIONS AND PERSPECTIVES The recent decade witnessed an increase in CHM research activities and CHM English publications. Based on common problems identified in publications on CHM animal studies, we have proposed a checklist that could help in preliminary selection of publications lacking the most common problems and thus would be useful for a quick search of reproducible CHM regimens that are likely to be effective in a given context. The second application of this checklist is to help avoid the most common problems when designing experiments.

Abstract
Trace metal contamination is a major environmental and health problem virtually in all countries. The present study was aimed to estimate the lead content of pot marigold (Calendula officinalis L.) inflorescences and leaves collected from a nonpolluted test field. The lead content in dry pot marigold inflorescences was 9.34 ± 0.79 µg/g, in dry leaves 11.57 ± 0.47 µg/g, and in soil 0.649 ± 0.012 µg/g. The distance of pot marigold collection beds (30-220 m from the motorway) had no effect on lead content. There was a strong positive correlation between the amount of precipitations and lead content of pot marigold leaves but not inflorescences indicating the soil as primarily the source of increased lead content. In conclusion, no effect of motorway vicinity was found for pot marigold inflorescences or leaves lead content; however, as a precaution, it is not recommended to collect the plants during or just after showers.
