Abstract
The increasing trade and popularity of açaí prompt this review. Therefore, it is imperative to provide an overview of the fruit's characteristics and the available data on its marketing, research, and products derived from its pulp and seeds to comprehend the current state of the açaí industry. Concerning food applications, it was observed that there is still room for developing processes that effectively preserve the bioactive compounds of the fruit while also being economically feasible, which presents an opportunity for future research. A notable research trend has been focused on utilizing the fruit's seeds, a byproduct of açaí processing, which is still considered a significant technological challenge. Furthermore, the studies compiled in this review attest to the industry's considerable progress and ongoing efforts to demonstrate the various properties of açaí, driving the sector's exponential growth in Brazil and worldwide.

Abstract
The Euterpe genus (mainly Euterpe oleracea Martius, Euterpe precatoria Martius, and Euterpe edulis Martius) has recently gained commercial and scientific notoriety due to the high nutritional value of its fruits, which are rich in polyphenols (phenolic acids and anthocyanins) and have potent antioxidant activity. These characteristics have contributed to the increased number of neuropharmacological evaluations of the three species over the last 10 years, especially açaí of the species Euterpe oleracea Martius. The fruits of the three species exert neuroprotective effects through the modulation of inflammatory and oxidative pathways and other mechanisms, including the inhibition of the mTOR pathway and protection of the blood-brain barrier, all of them intimately involved in several neuropathologies. Thus, a better understanding of the neuropharmacological properties of these three species may open new paths for the development of therapeutic tools aimed at preventing and treating a variety of neurological conditions.

Abstract
The açaí palm (Euterpe oleracea Mart.), a species belonging to the Arecaceae family, has been cultivated for thousands of years in tropical Central and South America as a multipurpose dietary plant. The recent introduction of açaí fruit and its nutritional and healing qualities to regions outside its origin has rapidly expanded global demand for açaí berry. The health-promoting and disease-preventing properties of this plant are attributed to numerous bioactive phenolic compounds present in the leaf, pulp, fruit, skin, and seeds. The purpose of this review is to present an up-to-date, comprehensive, and critical evaluation of the health benefits of açaí and its phytochemicals with a special focus on cellular and molecular mechanisms of action. In vitro and in vivo studies showed that açaí possesses antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties and exerts cardioprotective, gastroprotective, hepatoprotective, neuroprotective, renoprotective, antilipidemic, antidiabetic, and antineoplastic activities. Moreover, clinical trials have suggested that açaí can protect against metabolic stress induced by oxidation, inflammation, vascular abnormalities, and physical exertion. Due to its medicinal properties and the absence of undesirable effects, açaí shows a promising future in health promotion and disease prevention, in addition to a vast economic potential in the food and cosmetic industries.

Necrostatin-1 Relieves Learning and Memory Deficits in a Zebrafish Model of Alzheimer's Disease Induced by Aluminum. Neurotox Res 2022; 40:198-214. Abstract
Aluminum (Al) is considered one of the environmental risk factors for Alzheimer's disease (AD). The present study aims to establish a zebrafish AD model induced by Al and explore if necrostation-1 (Nec-1), a specific inhibitor of necroptosis, is effective in relieving learning and memory deficits in the zebrafish AD models. We treated adult zebrafish with aluminum trichloride at various doses for 1 month, followed by a T-maze test to evaluate learning and memory performance. Al concentration, levels of acetylcholine (Ach), and AD-related protein and gene expression in the brain tissue were evaluated in the zebrafish AD models. Our results demonstrated that in the brain tissue of Al-treated zebrafish, Al accumulated, Ach levels decreased, and AD-related genes and proteins increased. As a result, the learning and memory performance of Al-treated zebrafish was impaired. This suggested that a zebrafish AD model was established. To test the effect of Nec-1 on the zebrafish AD model, we added Nec-1 into the culture medium of the Al-treated adult zebrafish. The results demonstrated that Nec-1 could relive the learning and memory deficits, enhance Ach levels and the numbers of neural cells, and impact necroptosis-related gene expression. We concluded that Nec-1 could reverse Al-induced learning and memory impairment and had potential theoretical value in the zebrafish AD model.

Abstract
The environmental psychological stress causes depressive disorders. Stress causes many neurobiological, neurodegenerative changes in brain. Topiramate (TPM) is used in the treatment of epilepsy and psychiatric diseases. However, there are conflicting findings that TPM disrupts cognitive functions. We aimed to investigate the effects of TPM on depression, anxiety, learning and memory as well as neurobiological, morphological changes in rats exposed to chronic unpredictable mild stress (CUMS). After CUMS was formed by random application of nine mild stressors for 45 days, TPM (at doses of 0.1, 1, 10, 100 mg/kg) was administered for 21 days. Sucrose preference, locomotor activity, forced swimming, elevated plus maze and Morris water maze tests were performed. Corticosterone, BDNF (Brain-derived neurotrophic factor) and glutamate levels and volumes of hippocampus were evaluated. Body weights of the rats were measured. Immobilization time increased in CUMS, CUMS + TPM0.1 in forced swimming test and time spent in platform quadrant increased in Control + TPM1, CUMS, CUMS + TPM0.1, CUMS + TPM1 in Morris water maze test. Control + TPM1 decreased distance to platform in Morris water maze while CUMS + TPM100 increased. Learning is impaired in CUMS + TPM100 while it is improved in Control + TPM1. BDNF levels increased in CUMS and glutamate levels increased in CUMS, CUMS + TPM10. Body weight decreased in CUMS, CUMS + TPM0.1, CUMS + TPM1, CUMS + TPM100. Hippocampus volumes increased in CUMS. In conclusion, CUMS improved cognition and this finding was supported by the increase of BDNF levels and volume of hippocampus. TPM 1 mg/kg improved cognition in non-stressed rats. TPM 0.1 and 1 mg/kg improved while TPM 100 mg/kg impaired memory in rats exposed to stress.

Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate the quantity of volatile components reaching the sinus mucosa (SM) by inhalation, which is responsible for the therapeutic effect, as a first step toward targeted drug design. In this study, 18 Wistar-Albino female rats with an average weight between 200 and 250 g were used. The rats to be used in the study were randomized: Black cumin (BC) essential oil group (group 1) (n = 6), Peppermint essential oil (PEO) group (group 2) (n = 6), and Control (group 3) (n = 6). Volatile oils were inhaled in group 1 and 2; in the control group volatile oils were not inhaled. In all groups, SM was removed and essential volatile oil composition was determined. In group 1, α-pinene was identified as the principal component in the gas phase from five different glass bottles containing SM. The data obtained were evaluated using the single sample T-test and results show that the α-pinene component in the group of inhaled BC essential oil reached significance (P < .001) when compared with the control group. The active component of the BC essential oil could not be identified as thymoquinone. In group 2, eucalyptol (1,8-cineole) was identified as the principal component in the gas phase from five different glass bottles containing SM. The data obtained were evaluated using the single sample T-test and it was found that the eucalyptol component in the group which inhaled PEO reached statistical significance (P < .001) compared with the control group. In group 3, no volatile oil compounds were detected. We have demonstrated that both oils (BC and peppermint) are delivered to the SM. There is a need for the optimum dose to be clarified by different methods of measurement than those used in the spectrometric data we have obtained. We are convinced that our work will lead to pharmacological, toxicological, and subsequent clinical trials in this area.
