Abstract
Lack of pharmacogenomics knowledge among healthcare professionals is the most significant cited barrier to implementing pharmacogenomics in clinical settings. Despite the growth in research initiatives and awareness of pharmacogenomics, healthcare professionals continue to report a lack of knowledge and confidence in practicing pharmacogenomics. This study aims to assess the current pharmacogenomics knowledge gaps and learning needs of healthcare professionals in Malaysia. A modified Delphi with a multidisciplinary expert panel was conducted, and a purposive sampling method was used with predefined selection criteria. Fourteen study sites in Malaysia were included. The cut-off value to approach consensus was predefined as a threshold of 60% or higher, and a quantitative descriptive statistical analysis was performed. The study demonstrated that all experts rated the suggested educational content components as essential/important to be included in the educational intervention. Additionally, experts highlighted the significant barriers and gaps to adopting and practicing pharmacogenomics. To conclude, this multisite Delphi study enabled the development of a tailored, effective, evidence-based, competency-based educational intervention in pharmacogenomics for healthcare professionals in Malaysia. To keep up with the rapid evolution of the pharmacogenomics field, healthcare professionals should be equipped with the necessary competencies required to practice pharmacogenomics for better health outcomes. Future research is needed to determine the feasibility of the proposed educational intervention.

Abstract
Schizophrenia is a serious mental disorder that affects millions of people worldwide. This disorder slowly disintegrates thinking ability and changes behaviours of patients. These patients will show some psychotic symptoms such as hallucinations, delusions, thought disorder and movement disorder. These symptoms are in common with some other psychiatric disorders such as bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder and mood spectrum disorder. As patients would require immediate treatment, an on-time diagnosis is critical. This study explores the use of omics data in diagnosis of schizophrenia. Transcriptome, miRNA and epigenome data are used in diagnosis of patients with schizophrenia with the aid of machine learning algorithms. As the data is in high dimension, mutual information and feature importance are independently used for selecting relevant features for the study. Selected sets of features (biomarkers) are individually used with different machine learning algorithms and their performances are compared to select the best-performing model. This study shows that the top 140 miRNA features selected using mutual information along with support vector machines give the highest accuracy (0.86 ± 0.07) in the diagnosis of schizophrenia. All reported accuracies are validated using 5-fold cross validation. They are further validated using leave one out cross validation and the accuracies are reported in the supplementary material.

Abstract
Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is a rapidly changing field of genomics in which healthcare professionals play an important role in its implementation in the clinical setting, however PGx level of adoption remains low. This study aims to investigate the attitude, self-confidence, level of knowledge, and their impact on health sciences undergraduate students' intentions to adopt PGx in clinical practice using a questionnaire developed based on the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). A model was proposed and a questionnaire was developed that was distributed to 467 undergraduate students of all academic years from four different departments of the University of Sharjah (UoS) including medical, dental, nursing, and pharmacy students from September 2022 to November 2022. Descriptive statistics along with factor analysis and regression analysis were conducted. The proposed model had a good internal consistency and fit. Attitude was the factor with the greatest impact on student's intentions followed by self-confidence and barriers. The level of knowledge had a meaningless impact. The majority of students shared a positive attitude and were aware of PGx benefits. Almost 60% of the respondents showed a high level of knowledge, while 50% of them were confident of implementing PGx in their clinical practice. Many students were prone to adopt PGx in their future careers. PGx testing cost and the lack of reimbursement were the most important barriers. Overall, students shared a positive intention and were prone to adopt PGx. In the future, it would be important to investigate the differences between gender, year of studies, and area of studies studies and their impact on students' intentions.

Abstract
Background and Aims Pharmacists have been recognized as one of the most qualified healthcare professionals in the clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics, yet its widespread implementation in clinical pharmacy practice has remained limited. The review aims to systematically investigate knowledge, perceptions, and attitudes toward pharmacogenomics among pharmacists and pharmacy students to inform the future delivery of pharmacogenomics education programs. Methods PubMed, MEDLINE, Embase, Scopus, and the International Pharmaceutical Abstracts were searched up to May 17, 2022. Studies were selected if they included data on pharmacists' or pharmacy students' knowledge, perception, or attitude about pharmacogenomics and were published in a peer-reviewed, English-language journal with full-text availability. Any published study not deemed original research was excluded. All included studies were critically appraised using the Center for Evidence-Based Management's critical appraisal tools. The data were descriptively analyzed and presented based on pharmacists' and pharmacy students' knowledge/awareness, perception/attitudes toward pharmacogenomic (PGx), confidence in using or interpreting PGx testing results, and their desire to get further PGx education or their most preferred method of further education. Results A combined total of 12,430 pharmacists and pharmacy students from 26 countries are represented in the 52 included studies. Despite overwhelmingly positive attitudes and perceptions toward pharmacogenomics among pharmacists and pharmacy students, an overall lack of adequate knowledge and confidence was found. The review also found a strong desire for further pharmacogenomics education among pharmacists and pharmacy students. Conclusion Pharmacists and pharmacy students have positive perceptions and attitudes toward pharmacogenomics, which is hindered by a lack of knowledge and confidence. However, inadequate control for confounders, limited representativeness of the studied population or region, and small sample sizes diminish the generalizability of the review results. Knowledge and confidence could be improved through enhanced delivery of pharmacogenomic courses within the pharmacy curriculum and continuing education programs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Advances in precision medicine in Nigeria suggest improving genomics education and competency among healthcare practitioners to facilitate clinical translation. Due to the scarcity of research in this area, this study aimed to assess Nigerian medical students' perceptions about their preparedness to integrate precision medicine into their future clinical practice. METHODS This was an institution-based cross-sectional study of medicine and surgery students in their clinical years attending the two fully accredited colleges of medicine in Lagos, Nigeria, between April and October 2022 using an adapted tool administered via Google Forms. The survey assessed their awareness, perceptions about knowledge, ability, and attitudes toward precision medicine, ethical concerns, and perceptions about their education in precision medicine. Multivariate linear regression models were used to assess factors associated with students' perceptions of their knowledge, ability, and attitudes. RESULTS A total of 300 students completed the questionnaires with a response rate of 40%. Awareness of genomic medicine terminology was high (92.0%). Responses to knowledge and ability questions revealed notable gaps, however, respondents had positive attitude scores overall. Higher medical school year was independently associated with lower knowledge (ptrend = 0.003) and ability (ptrend = 0.005) scores, and knowledge score was independently associated with a higher ability score (β: 0.76 95%CI: 0.67, 0.84; p < 0.001). Attitude scores significantly increased with increasing medical school year (ptrend = 0.04). The respondents mostly indicated concerns about government and corporate bodies' misuse of genomic data (35.7%) and the widening of socioeconomic disparities (34.0%). Although 65.0% of the respondents thought it important to learn about precision medicine, only 11.3% felt that their education had adequately prepared them for precision medicine, knew who to ask questions regarding genomic testing (10.7%), and felt their professors had encouraged the use of precision medicine (10.3%). CONCLUSION Despite high awareness of precision medicine terminology and overall positive attitudes, our findings highlight gaps in knowledge and ability to integrate genomics into the care of patients and a need to improve precision medicine education among Nigerian medical students.

Abstract
Pharmacogenomics (PGx) is rapidly growing branch of molecular genetics with high potentials to influence therapeutics. This review evaluates knowledge and attitudes of medical and pharmacy students about PGx. A literature search was conducted in electronic databases and studies were selected by following precise eligibility criteria. After quality assessment, studies were reviewed systematically, and meta-analyses of proportions were performed to estimate response rates of students. Fifteen studies (5509 students; 69% [95% confidence interval (CI): 60%, 77%] females) were included. Among students, 28% [95%CI: 12, 46] had adequate PGx knowledge; 65% [95%CI: 55, 75] were willing to have PGx test for their own risk assessment; 78% [95%CI: 71, 84] had intention to incorporate PGx in future practice; and 32% [95%CI: 21, 43] were satisfied with current PGx component of curriculum. Age, advanced year of educational program, and more time spent in PGx education were positively associated with PGx knowledge and positive attitudes.

Abstract
Aims: To assess knowledge and attitudes toward pharmacogenomics (PGx) of incoming doctoral pharmacy students, to evaluate the internal structure and reliability of the PGx survey and to identify variables associated with the different responses. Methods: A PGx survey based on the core pharmacist competencies in PGx was created. Results: Of 83.2% analyzable responses, 91% believed PGx is a useful tool and relevant to future practice but over 70% stated they lack confidence in clinical PGx knowledge. This 38-item PGx survey included three factors showing high reliability. Prior genetic/PGx testing and unsatisfactory medication experiences were associated with a more positive attitude toward PGx. Conclusion: The majority of students have positive attitudes toward PGx, but lack knowledge in genetic concepts and clinical PGx.

Abstract
BACKGROUND There is an increasing interest worldwide in investigating healthcare stakeholders' perceptions and intentions to adopt pharmacogenomics (PGx) into clinical practice. However, the existing inquiries based on well-established theories and models that interpret their intentions to implement PGx are scarce. This study is the first that examines the impact of selected factors on health science students' intention to adopt genetic testing applications using the technology acceptance model while it compares two different cultural groups: Greeks (Europe; Christian) and Malays (Asia; Muslim). RESULTS Malay students were more persuaded about benefits of genomics for drug management compared to their Greek counterparts. However, participants from both countries appear to be particularly convinced about the benefits of genomics on disease management. Moreover, students from both countries considered the potential misuse of genetic information by corporate or government bodies as their most important concern; Greek students appeared to be considerably less worried than Malay about other probable hazards such as the deficient protection of privacy and confidentiality, which could be attributed to their religious background. Participants from both samples expressed very positive attitudes towards genetic research and testing and their favourable intentions to adopt genetic testing for personal use. Exploratory factors analysis and path analysis yielded quite similar results for both samples. Path analysis revealed that the factors of attitudes, concerns, drug management benefits and disease management benefits significantly influenced students' intentions to adopt genetic testing for personal use, with attitudes being the most inspirational factor with rather high impact, while training did not seem to affect participant's intentions. The squared multiple correlation of both models was quite satisfactory reaching to 0.55 for the Malaysian sample. CONCLUSION Similarities in the results of the two groups along with the relevant validity and reliability tests indicate that the proposed model is a good fit for future studies to interpret stakeholders' intentions to adopt genetic testing. Therefore, it can provide a promising and reliable basis for future model development to explain the relationships between intentions to adopt genetic testing and its predictors.

Abstract
Pharmacists are considered among the most accessible healthcare workers in fundamental positions to implement new clinical initiatives, such as pharmacogenomics services. The scope of pharmacogenomics in improving health outcomes and the quality of health care is well-known. Implementation of such initiatives requires adequate knowledge, perception, and positive attitudes among pharmacists. A study was conducted on pharmacy students at King Saud University in Riyadh to analyze their attitudes, knowledge, and perceptions concerning pharmacogenomics to explore the feasibility of establishing full-time pharmacogenomics instruction and services. A cross-sectional study was carried out in one of the significant pharmacy schools of Saudi Arabia, using a simple questionnaire-based survey in pharmacy students pursuing Bpharm and PharmD courses to obtain preliminary information about pharmacogenomics among the surveyed population. The study's secondary objective was to determine the perceived belief about pharmacogenomics implementation in clinical practice. Out of the total of 552 participants, 41.8% correctly defined pharmacogenomics and 81.3% understood that genetic change could lead to adverse reactions. More than half of the participants agreed that the FDA recommends pharmacogenomics testing for certain drugs. The knowledge about a year of use of pharmacogenomics in clinical practice was found to be very low; only 15.2% could correctly answer. Only 60% of students agreed on pharmacogenomics testing for selecting the therapy with the most negligible adverse effects. Due to the limited knowledge about and understanding of pharmacogenomics, there is a lack of interest among pharmacy students in implementing pharmacogenomics testing in clinical practice. Our study highlights the need for improving pharmacy students' knowledge about pharmacogenomics and pharmacogenetics so that the implementation of pharmacogenomics testing in clinical practice will become easier. There is a need to introduce an up-to-date curriculum for pharmacy courses other pharmacogenomics-based health education programs in Saudi Arabia.

Abstract
The increasing incorporation of genomics in clinical practice underscores the need to improve genomics knowledge and familiarity among future health care providers. To this end, it is important to consider both the "push" and the "pull" factors that shape or determine the transition of new personalized medicine (PM) discoveries to clinical practice. One of the pull factors involves the attitudes, values, and education of the user communities such as patients, physicians, and scientists who are poised to use the PM diagnostics. Among the push factors are often health scientists who contribute to PM science and development efforts. Seen in this light, health sciences trainees represent both the push and pull factors, not to mention the next generation of stakeholders and innovation actors who will make PM a reality in mainstream medical practice in the future. Τhis study aimed at investigating and comparing awareness and attitudes (ethical and other) on pharmacogenomics (PGx) and PM adoption among undergraduate students from the school of health sciences and other students. A convenience sample was used in this survey in two groups of students: 205 students from the School of Health Sciences and 141 students from other schools (e.g., biology, computer engineering, and business administration) of the University of Patras, Greece, and mostly at undergraduate education level. We observed that despite the relatively low level of awareness about genetics, PGx, and relevant notions, both groups of students were very optimistic about the genetic testing usefulness and professed their positive anticipations about PGx on disease management. Thus, health sciences students and those in other faculties appeared to be avid proponents of genetics testing and in favor of public endorsement of the concepts of individually tailored medicine. This case study in Greece is one of the first studies on perceptions and attitudes toward PGx testing and PM in Southern Europe. Of importance, the study informs the prospects and challenges on the push and pull factors of PM innovation while offering potential lessons for future PM curriculum needs in health sciences in other countries in Europe.
