Abstract
Ovarian cancer is a highly lethal gynecological malignancy. Drug resistance rapidly occurs, and different therapeutic approaches are needed. So far, no biomarkers have been discovered to predict early response to therapies in the case of multi-treated ovarian cancer patients. The aim of our investigation was to identify a protein panel and the molecular pathways involved in chemotherapy response through a combination of studying proteomics and network enrichment analysis by considering a subset of samples from a clinical setting. Differential mass spectrometry studies were performed on 14 serum samples from patients with heavily pretreated platinum-resistant ovarian cancer who received the FOLFOX-4 regimen as a salvage therapy. The serum was analyzed at baseline time (T0) before FOLFOX-4 treatment, and before the second cycle of treatment (T1), with the aim of understanding if it was possible, after a first treatment cycle, to detect significant proteome changes that could be associated with patients responses to therapy. A total of 291 shared expressed proteins was identified and 12 proteins were finally selected between patients who attained partial response or no-response to chemotherapy when both response to therapy and time dependence (T0, T1) were considered in the statistical analysis. The protein panel included APOL1, GSN, GFI1, LCATL, MNA, LYVE1, ROR1, SHBG, SOD3, TEC, VPS18, and ZNF573. Using a bioinformatics network enrichment approach and metanalysis study, relationships between serum and cellular proteins were identified. An analysis of protein networks was conducted and identified at least three biological processes with functional and therapeutic significance in ovarian cancer, including lipoproteins metabolic process, structural component modulation in relation to cellular apoptosis and autophagy, and cellular oxidative stress response. Five proteins were almost independent from the network (LYVE1, ROR1, TEC, GFI1, and ZNF573). All proteins were associated with response to drug-resistant ovarian cancer resistant and were mechanistically connected to the pathways associated with cancer arrest. These results can be the basis for extending a biomarker discovery process to a clinical trial, as an early predictive tool of chemo-response to FOLFOX-4 of heavily treated ovarian cancer patients and for supporting the oncologist to continue or to interrupt the therapy.

Oxaliplatin plus leucovorin and 5-fluorouracil (FOLFOX-4) as a salvage chemotherapy in heavily-pretreated platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. BMC Cancer 2018; 18:1267. Abstract
Background The purpose of this study was to evaluate the clinical impact of oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and 5-fluorouracil (FOLFOX-4) chemotherapy in terms of the response rate, progression-free/overall survival (PFS/OS) and safety profile in patients with heavily pretreated recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer. Methods Clinical data were reviewed in 29 patients who received FOLFOX-4 as more than third-line chemotherapy, consisting of 85 mg/m2 of oxaliplatin, 200 mg/m2 of leucovorin, and bolus 400 mg/m2 on day 1 of 5-fluorouracil, followed by a 22-h infusion of 600 mg/m2 of 5-fluorouracil for 2 consecutive days every 3 weeks. We also compared the efficacy and toxicity of FOLFOX-4 with that of topotecan, a standard treatment, given at a dosage of 1.5 mg/m2 every three weeks in 26 patients. Results The median age of enrolled patients was 60 years (range 33 to 85). A median of 4 cycles (range 1–17) of FOLFOX-4 were administered. Complete response and partial response were observed in one (3.5%) and 5 (17.2.2%) patients, respectively, while stable disease was reported in 8 (27.6%) patients. Among all patients, grade 3–4 anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia were observed in 0 (0%), 5 (17.2%), and 3 (10.3%) cases, respectively. Grade 3–4 fatigue was recorded in one (3.4%) patient and diarrhea in 2 (6.9%). Median PFS and OS were 2.8 months [95% confidence interval (CI) 1.7–4.9] and 6.2 months (95% CI 2.4–14.6), respectively. No significant differences in terms of efficacy and toxicity were observed between patients receiving FOLFOX-4 and those treated with topotecan. Conclusions The FOLFOX-4 regimen would seem to obtain similar survival rates to those of standard therapy with topotecan in platinum-resistant ovarian cancer. Further randomized trials are warranted to confirm our findings.

Abstract
Platinum drugs, including carboplatin and oxaliplatin, are commonly used chemotherapy drugs that kill cancer cells by forming toxic drug-DNA adducts. These drugs have a proven, but modest, efficacy against several aggressive subtypes of breast cancer but also cause several side effects that can lead to the cessation of treatment. There is a clinical need to identify patients who will respond to platinum drugs in order to better inform clinical decision making. Diagnostic microdosing involves dosing patients or patient samples with subtherapeutic doses of radiolabeled platinum followed by measurement of platinum-DNA adducts in blood or tumor tissue and may be used to predict patient response. We exposed a panel of six breast cancer cell lines to 14C-labeled carboplatin or oxaliplatin at therapeutic and microdose (1% therapeutic dose) concentrations for a range of exposure lengths and isolated DNA from the cells. The DNA was converted to graphite, and measurement of radiocarbon due to platinum-DNA adduction was quantified via accelerator mass spectrometry (AMS). We observed a linear correlation in adduct levels between the microdose and therapeutic dose, and the level of platinum-DNA adducts corresponded to cell line drug sensitivity for both carboplatin and oxaliplatin. These results showed a clear separation in adduct levels between the sensitive and resistant groups of cell lines that could not be fully explained or predicted by changes in DNA repair rates or mutations in DNA repair genes. Further, we were able to quantitate oxaliplatin-DNA adducts in the blood and tumor tissue of a metastatic breast cancer patient. Together, these data support the use of diagnostic microdosing for predicting patient sensitivity to platinum. Future studies will be aimed at replicating this data in a clinical feasibility trial.

Abstract
The goal of this study was to assess the antitumor efficacy and safety of lobaplatin-based regimens as the second line of treatment in patients with metastatic breast cancer (MBC) resistant to anthracyclines and taxanes, compared with that of cisplatin-based regimens. During August 2012 to April 2015, 87 patients who received lobaplatin-based regimens or cisplatin-based regimens were included. Medical records of the patients noted that lobaplatin (30 mg/m2) or cisplatin (25 mg/m2), combined with another chemotherapeutic agent such as Gemcitabine (1000 mg/m2) or Vinorelbine (25 mg/m2), was intravenously given to the patients on a basis of twenty-one days as one treatment cycle. All the patients were followed until August 2017. The endpoint of this study was progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), and estimated objective response rate (RR). Safety and drug tolerability data were also obtained. Lobaplatin-based regimens prolonged PFS compared to cisplatin-based regimens (median 13.2 vs 4.7 months, hazard ratio = 0.37, 95% confidence intervals: 0.21-0.67, P = .0007), while OS was not significantly different between the two groups (hazard ratio = 0.72, 95% confidence intervals: 0.40-1.30, P = .2767), as was objective RR (37.8% vs 33.4%, x 2 = 0.19, P = .6653). Nausea/vomiting and renal injury were more frequent with cisplatin-based regimens. Our results show that lobaplatin-based regimens are superior to cisplatin in terms of efficacy and are better tolerated.

Abstract
Adding platinum drugs to anthracycline/taxane (ANC-Tax)-based neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) improves pathological complete response (pCR) rates in triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC). Copper transporter 1 (CTR1) and organic cation transporter 2 (OCT2) critically affect the uptake and cytotoxicity of platinum drugs. We immunohistochemically determined CTR1 and OCT2 levels in pre-chemotherapy biopsies from 105 patients with HER2-negative breast cancer treated with ANC-Tax-based NAC. In the TNBC group, Ki-67(high) [pathological good response (pGR), P = 0.04] was associated with response, whereas CTR1(high) (non-pGR, P = 0.03), OCT2(high) (non-pGR, P = 0.01; non-pCR, P = 0.03), and combined CTR1(high) and/or OCT2(high) (non-pGR, P = 0.005; non-pCR, P = 0.003) were associated with non-response. In multivariate analysis, Ki-67(high) was an independent factor for pGR and CTR1 for non-pGR. Combined CTR1/OCT2 was a strong independent factor for non-pGR. However, no variables were associated with response in luminal BC. These results indicate that platinum uptake transporters are predominantly expressed in ANC-Tax-resistant TNBCs, which implies that advantage associated with adding platinum drugs may depend on high drug uptake.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Bevacizumab combined with modified FOLFOX6 is a standard regimen for colorectal cancer. The present study was to determine the efficacy and safety of bevacizumab-modified FOLFOX6 regimen in heavily pretreated patients with human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2/neu)-negative MBC. METHODS Bevacizumab, 5 mg/kg every two weeks or 7.5 mg/kg every three weeks, was administered with modified FOLFOX6 (oxaliplatin 85 mg/m2, leucovorin 400 mg/m2, 5-FU 400 mg/m2 on day 1, followed by 5-FU 2400 mg/m2 intravenous infusion over 46 hours every 2 weeks) to patients who failed at least 1 chemotherapy regimen in the metastatic setting. The primary objective was progression free survival (PFS). Secondary objectives included objective response rate (ORR), clinical benefit rate (CBR), overall survival (OS), safety, and the change of tumor size and Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status. RESULTS 69 patients were enrolled. The median PFS was 6.8 months (95% CI, 5.0 to 8.5 months), ORR was 50.0% and median OS was 10.5 months (95% CI, 7.9 to 13.1 months). Patients showing objective responses had a 4.2-month median PFS gain and 5.7-month median OS gain compared with those who did not (P < 0.05). Grade 3 or 4 adverse events occurring in more than one patient were neutropenia (53/69, 76.8%), leukopenia (36/69, 52.2%), thrombocytopenia (13/69, 18.8%), anemia (3/69, 4.3%) and hypertension (3/69, 4.3%). CONCLUSIONS Adding bevacizumab to modified FOLFOX6 does have significant anti-tumor activity and good safety profile in heavily pretreated HER2/neu-negative MBC patients. Further trials are required to confirm whether the high ORR can translate into a long-term PFS and even OS benefit. TRIAL REGISTRATION www.clinicaltrials.gov NCT01658033.

Abstract
Introduction Therapy comprising 5-fluorouracil, levofolinate, and oxaliplatin is currently the most common chemotherapy for colorectal cancer. We experienced a successful case of advanced colon cancer and recurrent breast cancer with 5-fluorouracil, levofolinate, and oxaliplatin therapy. Case presentation A 43-year-old Japanese woman who had already undergone surgery three times for bilateral breast cancer was admitted to our hospital for the treatment of advanced transverse colon cancer. Preoperative computed tomography demonstrated a swollen lymph node at her right upper clavicle, and fine-needle aspiration biopsy of the lymph node showed that it was a metastasis from the breast cancer. A laparoscopic-assisted colectomy was performed and the pathology demonstrated that the final stage was IIIC (T4aN2aM0, Union for International Cancer Control, 7th edition). The pathological findings and immunohistochemistry showed that the transverse colon tumor was not a metastatic lesion from the breast cancer, but was a de novo colon cancer. Chemotherapy was necessary for both the recurrent breast cancer and the Stage IIIC colon cancer. Therapy of 5-fluorouracil, levofolinate, and oxaliplatin was administered; the therapy included 5-fluorouracil, which is considered to be effective for both colon and breast cancer. After two courses of 5-fluorouracil, levofolinate, and oxaliplatin, the lymph node began to shrink and almost completely disappeared after eight courses of 5-fluorouracil, levofolinate, and oxaliplatin. Conclusion We surmise that 5-fluorouracil, levofolinate, and oxaliplatin have the potential to provide a good response for tumors that are sensitive to fluorinated pyrimidine and platinum-containing anticancer drugs such as breast cancer.

Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of oxaliplatin, leucovorin, and 5-fluorouracil (FOLFOX-4) chemotherapy in heavily pretreated patients with recurrent epithelial ovarian cancer (EOC). Materials and Methods Clinical data were reviewed in 28 patients who received FOLFOX-4 as more than the second-line chemotherapy, consisting of 85 mg/m2 of oxaliplatin as a 2-hour infusion, 200 mg/m2 of leucovorin as a 2-hour infusion, and bolus 400 mg/m2 on day 1, followed by a 22-hour infusion of 600 mg/m2 of 5-fluorouracil for two consecutive days every three weeks. In addition, its efficacy and toxicity were compared with those reported in in three previous relevant studies. Results A total of 128 cycles of FOLFOX-4 were administered with the median number of five cycles (range, 1 to 10 cycles). In nine patients with measurable disease, complete response (CR) and partial response (PR) were observed in 0 (0%) and two (22.2%) patients, whereas in 19 patients with non-measurable disease, CR and PR were observed in 0 (0%) and five (26.3%) patients. Among all patients, grade 3 anemia, neutropenia, and thrombocytopenia were observed in two (7.1%), three (10.7%), and one (3.6%) patient, and grade 3 fatigue, nausea and vomiting, and peripheral neuropathy were observed in one (3.6%), two (7.1%), and three (10.7%) patients. In addition, median values of time to progressive disease and chemotherapy-specific survival were three months (range, 0 to 10 months) and nine months (range, 4 to 24 months). Conclusion FOLFOX-4 is feasible as salvage chemotherapy with acceptable toxicity for heavily pretreated patients with recurrent EOC.

Abstract
PURPOSE Several cytotoxic chemotherapy regimens are active against metastatic breast cancer; however, benefits are modest and overall prognosis remains limited. For anthracycline and taxane-pretreated metastatic breast cancer, there remains a relative paucity of therapies with significant activity. This Phase II study evaluated the combination of capecitabine and oxaliplatin (XELOX) among patients with metastatic breast cancer being treated in the first- or second-line setting. METHODS Patients received oxaliplatin 85 mg/m(2) on days 1 and 15, and capecitabine 1,500 mg/m(2) twice daily on days 1-7 and 15-21 of a 28-day cycle. Patients were treated until progression or intolerable toxicity. The primary objective was to estimate the objective response rate by the Response Evaluation Criteria in Solid Tumors (RECIST) criteria with tumor assessments every 8 weeks. RESULTS Ten patients were treated of which 3 had received prior neurotoxic therapy in the metastatic setting. There were no confirmed complete responses, 5 patients had partial response, 4 patients had stable disease for at least 24 weeks, and one patient was unevaluable. Median time to progression (TTP) was 10.4 months (95% lower confidence bound [LCB]: 5.75 months), median progression-free survival (PFS) was 14.2 months (95% LCB: 6.14 months), and median overall survival (OS) was 19 months (95% LCB: 12.8 months). Multiple patients experienced pain syndromes and unusual neuropathies. Other common toxicities included fatigue, diarrhea, and nausea. CONCLUSIONS XELOX is a promising regimen for anthracycline-pretreated metastatic breast cancer although careful patient selection is indicated and alternate dosing schedules should be explored to minimize neurologic morbidity.

Abstract
We investigated the feasibility/efficacy of oxaliplatin in combination with trastuzumab as first-/second-line treatment of HER2-positive metastatic breast cancer (MBC). Patients received oxaliplatin/trastuzumab every 21 days and were evaluated every 6 weeks using RECIST criteria. The study closed early due to slow accrual. Twenty-five patients were evaluable; of these, 5 (20%) had objective responses to oxaliplatin/trastuzumab. Therapy was well tolerated (no grade-4 and gastrointestinal grade-3 toxicity in 4% of patients), but had only modest activity (median time-to-progression 1.8 months). Substitution of oxaliplatin for cisplatin or carboplatin, in combination with trastuzumab, does not appear to improve first-/second-line therapy in HER2-positive MBC.

Abstract
Purpose Using data from a recent randomized trial, we evaluated the cost effectiveness of ixabepilone plus capecitabine versus capecitabine alone in patients with predominantly metastatic breast cancer considered to be taxane-resistant and previously treated with or resistant to an anthracycline. Methods We developed a stochastic decision-analytic model to represent data collected in the trial on medical resource use, health-related quality of life, and clinical outcomes. Estimates of overall survival were conditional on level of tumor response. We assigned monthly costs and utility weights according to periods defined by the duration of study treatment, time from discontinuation of the study drug until disease progression, and from progression until death and were specific to the level of response and receipt of subsequent therapy. Medical resources were valued in 2008 US dollars. We performed Monte Carlo simulations and sensitivity analyses to evaluate model uncertainty. Results Overall survival was significantly associated with level of tumor response (P < .001). Total costs were estimated at $60,900 for patients receiving ixabepilone plus capecitabine and $30,000 for patients receiving capecitabine alone. The estimated gain in life expectancy with ixabepilone was 1.96 months (95% CI, 1.36 to 2.64 months); the estimated gain in quality-adjusted survival was 1.06 months (95% CI, 0.09 to 2.03 months). The resulting incremental cost-effectiveness ratio was $359,000 per quality-adjusted life-year (95% CI, $183,000 to $4,030,000). In sensitivity analyses, the results were robust to changes in numerous inputs and assumptions. Conclusion Addition of ixabepilone to capecitabine adds approximately $31,000 to overall medical costs and affords approximately 1 additional month of quality-adjusted survival.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the efficacy, the toxicity and the pharmacokinetics of a gemcitabine (GEM) and oxaliplatin (OXA) combination in metastatic breast cancer patients (MBC), previously treated with anthracycline and taxanes. METHODS A total of 40 women were enrolled; 37 patients had visceral metastases as dominant site of disease, including 20 patients with liver metastases and 14 with multiple visceral metastases. Three patients received neo-adjuvant chemotherapy, 13 patients adjuvant chemotherapy alone, 24 patients chemotherapy for MBC alone. Gemcitabine was given at 1000 mg/m2 on days 1, 8 followed by oxaliplatin at 100 mg/m2 iv on day 2 every 2 weeks (GEM-OXA sequence). Possible pharmacokinetic interactions were studied in 10 patients, by administering on cycle 1 gemcitabine d1/oxaliplatin d2 (GEM-OXA) and on cycle 2 oxaliplatin d1/gemcitabine d2 (OXA-GEM). RESULTS After a median of 8 cycles, 10 partial response (PR) (25%), 16 stable disease (SD) (40%), and 14 progressive disease (PD) (35%) were obtained. The median duration of response was 6 months (3-9) for responding patients and 4.9 months (2-7.5) for patients with stable disease. For PR, SD and PD patients, median survival was 18 (10-23+), 13 (8-18), and 6 months (4-13), respectively. G3-4 neutropenia occurred in 20% of patients (febrile G3 neutropenia in 2.5%), G3-4 thrombocytopenia and anemia in 15% and 7.5%. The most frequent G3-4 nonhematologic toxicity was represented by peripheral neuropathy (20%), always reversible. The GEM-OXA and OXA-GEM schedules showed a similar pharmacokinetic behavior, with no sequence-dependent interaction. CONCLUSIONS The combination gemcitabine plus oxaliplatin has moderate activity in anthracycline and taxanes resistant/relapsed heavily treated patients, mild toxicity and no administration sequence-dependent pharmacokinetic interactions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Metronomic chemotherapy-the chronic administration of chemotherapy at relatively low, minimally toxic doses on a frequent schedule of administration at close regular intervals, with no prolonged drug-free breaks-is a potentially novel approach to the control of advanced cancer disease. It is thought to work primarily through antiangiogenic mechanisms and has, as an advantage, the property of significantly reducing undesirable toxic side-effects. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the cost effectiveness of cyclophosphamide-methotrexate 'metronomic' chemotherapy in the palliative treatment of pretreated metastatic breast cancer. METHODS Low-dose cyclophosphamide-methotrexate 'metronomic' chemotherapy was compared with outcome and resource utilisation data of published phase II trials regarding metastatic breast cancer, performed in western countries, mostly in Europe. All direct costs associated with metastatic breast cancer treatment were included and adjusted to year 2003 values. Sensitivity analyses were performed and variations to the values of key parameters were assessed. RESULTS Low-dose cyclophosphamide-methotrexate 'metronomic' therapy was assessed to be a cost-effective/cost-saving therapy for palliative treatment for metastatic breast cancer when compared with novel chemotherapy strategies (phase II trials). Compared with the 11 phase II mono- and combination chemotherapies, metronomic treatment showed marked cost savings in each case and improved cost effectiveness. Sensitivity analyses showed the results were robust to variations to the values of key parameters with very few exceptions. CONCLUSIONS Metronomic cyclophosphamide-methotrexate is significantly cost effective. If validated by prospective randomized trials, the treatment concept could reduce healthcare costs, especially those associated with the combined use of new, highly expensive, molecularly targeted therapies.

Abstract
The liver is a common site of metastases in breast cancer. Although the development of liver metastases has long been associated with a poor prognosis in this disease, this dogma has been challenged by more recent data, perhaps reflecting some treatment and other technological advances achieved in the last decade. Nevertheless, the specific population of breast cancer patients presenting with liver disease and associated liver dysfunction remain poorly studied. These women still seem to have a poor prognosis as compared to other patients with liver metastases. This is further complicated by the fact that the most active cytotoxic agents in breast cancer have significant hepatic metabolism and/or biliary excretion. Unfortunately, since these patients have been most of the time excluded from clinical trials, there are currently no clear recommendations for the management of such dramatic presentations. With some exceptions, recommendations for dose adjustments have also been largely empirical. In this paper, we review the optimal doses of cytotoxics used in this clinical situation and provide some tips on the management of these patients, based on the limited data currently available in the literature.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE A prospective phase II study was conducted to evaluate the efficacy and toxicity of oxaliplatin plus 5-fluoruracil (5-FU) and high-dose leucovorin (LV) (FOLFOX-4) in patients with platinum-resistant, taxane-pretreated recurrent ovarian cancer. PATIENTS AND METHODS Thirty-eight patients, with a median age of 58 years (range 33-77), were treated with oxaliplatin 85 mg m(-2) as a 2-h infusion on day 1, LV 200 mg m(-2) day(-1) as a 2-h infusion followed by bolus 5-FU 400 mg m(-2) day(-1) and a 22-h infusion of 5-FU 600 mg m(-2) day(-1) for 2 consecutive days. Treatment was repeated every 3 weeks. Patients were evaluated for response every two cycles. RESULTS The vast majority of patients had performance status 0 or 1 and 76.3% had > or = 2 metastatic sites. A median number of four cycles per patient (range, 1-8) were administered. Based on an intention-to-treat analysis, 3 patients (7.9%) achieved a complete response (CR) and 8 (21.1%) achieved a partial response (PR), for an overall response rate of 29%. Another 29% of patients had stable disease (SD). The median relapse-free survival was 5.2 months (range 2.5-17), the median time to tumor progression was 4.8 months (range 0.6-19), and the median overall survival was 10.1 months (range 0.2-36). Toxicity was mild to moderate. Grade 3/4 neutropenia and thrombocytopenia occurred in 29% and 21.1% of patients, respectively. Febrile neutropenia was encountered in 3 patients (7.9%), who were successfully treated. Grade 3/4 neurotoxicity developed in 15.8% of patients; neurotoxicity gradually declined after treatment discontinuation. Alopecia, nausea-vomiting, diarrhea, mucositis, and asthenia were not a serious problem. There were no treatment-related deaths. CONCLUSION The combination of oxaliplatin and 5-FU/LV (FOLFOX-4) appears to be an effective regimen with a good toxicity profile for the treatment of platinum-resistant, taxane-pretreated ovarian cancer.

Abstract
UNLABELLED Oxaliplatin shows in vitro and in vivo synergism with 5-fluorouracil (5-FU). In this study we evaluate the clinical efficacy of oxaliplatin and 5-FU in heavily pretreated metastatic breast cancer. Eligible patients had to be pretreated with both anthracyclines and taxanes. Pretreatment with capecitabine was recommended but not mandatory. Chemotherapy: oxaliplatin 85 mg/m2/2 h day 1, folinic acid 400 mg/m2/2 h day 1, 5-FU 400 mg/m2 i.v. push day 1, 5-FU 2400 mg/m2 continuous infusion/48 h day 1, q2w. Fourteen patients were included: one male and 13 females; age: median 53 years (38-62); ECOG 0: three patients, 1: nine patients, 2: two patients; all patients were pretreated with anthracyclines and taxanes, capecitabine: nine patients, vinorelbine: six patients, trastuzumab: four patients, hormonal therapy: 12 patients; lines of prior palliative chemotherapy: 0: one patient, 1: three patients, 2: one patient, 3: three patients, 4: four patients, 5: two patients. RESULTS median number of cycles: 8 (range 1-17). Toxicity (14 patients evaluable; no. of patients with Common Toxicity Criteria grade 3/4): asthenia: 2/-, paraesthesia 3/-, leuko/neutropenia: 1/2, no neutropenic fever, other (alopecia, skin): 2/-. Response (12 patients evaluable, all with bidimensionally measurable disease): complete remission: no patients, partial remission: four patients (33%, all confirmed), stable disease: five patients, progressive disease: three patients. We conclude that despite the small number of patients, the combination of 5-FU and oxaliplatin shows promising efficacy in this heavily pretreated population.
