Abstract
BACKGROUND Globally, there is an increase in the number of older people living with frailty, thus effective strategies to prevent and manage frailty are of paramount importance. The effects of nurse-led interventions on the physical and mental health of (pre) frail people have not yet been systematically reviewed. METHODS We searched the PubMed, Web of Science, EMBASE, CINAHL, and the Cochrane Library from inception to 8 May 2024. Eligible studies included randomized controlled trials and quasi-experimental trials reporting the effects of nurse-led interventions on physical and mental health outcomes among (pre) frail people. Two researchers independently extracted trial data and assessed the risk of bias by using the risk of bias tool recommended by the Cochrane Back Review Group and the Methodological Index for Non-Randomized Studies. RESULTS 14 randomized controlled trials and 6 quasi-experimental studies, encompassing 3943 participants, were included in the review. Nurse-led interventions included function-based care (cognitive behavioral therapy, exercise, and multi-domain intervention), personalized integrated care, and advance care planning. The reported outcomes were multiple with most results showing inconsistencies. Overall, function-based care showed more positive effects on physical outcomes (31/37, 84 %) and mental health (11/12, 92 %). However, the effectiveness of existing personalized integrated care and advance care planning might be limited. CONCLUSIONS Nurse-led interventions may effectively improve both physical and mental health among (pre) frail older adults, although effectiveness varies by intervention type. Nurses have the potential to play a leading role, both individually and within multidisciplinary teams, in alleviating the rising global burden of frailty. We need more well-designed randomized controlled trials to confirm the effectiveness of nurse-led interventions and identify the most effective type of interventions.

Abstract
Work-related stress complaints are a growing societal problem. Occupational health professionals often play a key role in its prevention. However, studies providing an overview of preventive interventions and their effectiveness are lacking. Therefore, the aim of this systematic review was to summarise the evidence on the effectiveness of interventions delivered by occupational health professionals to prevent work-related stress complaints.A systematic search in PubMed, Embase, PsycInfo and Medline was performed in May 2023 based on PICO (population, intervention, control and outcomes) elements. Inclusion criteria were: peer-reviewed papers with a randomised controlled trial design, quasi-experimental design and pre-post evaluations with a control group; working populations not on sick leave; interventions delivered by occupational health professionals; and stress outcomes. Data were extracted using a predefined extraction form, risk of bias was assessed using the Cochrane risk of bias tool for randomised trials (RoB-2) and Risk of Bias in non-randomised Studies-of Interventions tool, and a narrative analysis was performed to summarise data.Nine studies were included in this review and encompassed a diverse range of populations, interventions and professionals involved, outcome measures, and effects observed. Five studies found either mixed effects on stress outcomes, short-term positive effects, or positive effects in a subgroup of participants demonstrating high adherence to the intervention.As the results show mixed findings, a high risk of bias, and a limited number of studies was available, more research is needed to the effectiveness of the interventions and the factors underlying this.

Abstract
BACKGROUND More and more people suffer from concomitant chronic physical diseases and common mental disorders, calling for integrated self-management support in primary care. However, self-management support of chronic physical diseases and common mental disorders is not clearly operationalized by guidelines and is still conducted in silos by primary care nurses, especially in favour of chronic diseases. This study aims to better understand primary care nurses' experience of integrated self-management support for people with physical chronic diseases and common mental disorders. METHODS An interpretive descriptive qualitative approach was conducted with 23 primary care nurses from family medicine groups in Quebec (Canada). They were selected through purposive and snowball sampling methods to participate in an individual interview. Data were analysed using an iterative inductive and deductive analysis (Rainbow Model of Integrated Care and the Practical Reviews in Self-Management Support (PRISMS) taxonomy). RESULTS Nurses' experience of integrated self-management support for people with CD and CMD was structured around: (1) elements of the approach; (2) clinical integration through prevention and health promotion; and (3) operationalization of integrated self-management support. Several elements deemed essential to integrated self-management support were identified. Nurses offered integrated self-management support through prevention of risk factors and promotion of a healthy lifestyle for physical chronic diseases and common mental disorders. Nurses' self-management support activities included education, action plans, monitoring, and many practical, psychological, and social support strategies. A model of integrated self-management support for primary care nursing is proposed to better understand its clinical integration. CONCLUSION This study presents clinical integration of self-management support and activities for people with physical chronic diseases and common mental disorders in primary care settings. Understanding integrated self-management support will help implement future interventions.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Policymakers and researchers often suggest that nurses may play a crucial role in addressing the evolving needs of patients with complex conditions, by taking on advanced roles and providing nursing consultations. Nursing consultations vary widely across settings and countries, and their activities range from complementing to substituting traditional physician-led consultations or usual care. OBJECTIVE This study was aimed at describing the effects of nursing consultations with patients with complex conditions in any setting on patient outcomes (quality of life, physical status, psychosocial health, health behaviour, medication adherence, mortality, anthropometric and physiological outcomes, and patient satisfaction) and organisational outcomes (health resource use and costs). DESIGN Umbrella review. METHODS We followed the Joanna Briggs Institute method for umbrella reviews. We searched PubMed, Embase, Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews and CINAHL to identify relevant articles published in English, Dutch, French, Spanish or German between January 2013 and February 2023. We included systematic literature reviews, with or without meta-analyses, that included randomised controlled trials conducted in high-income countries. Reviews were eligible if they pertained to consultations led by specialised nurses or advanced nurse practitioners. Article selection, data extraction and quality appraisal were performed independently by at least two reviewers. RESULTS We included 50 systematic reviews based on 473 unique trials. For all patient outcomes, nursing consultations achieved effects at least equivalent to those of physician-led consultations or usual care (i.e., non-inferiority). For quality of life, health behaviour, medication adherence, mortality and patient satisfaction, more than half the meta-analyses found statistically significant effects in favour of nursing consultations (i.e., superiority). Cost results must be interpreted with caution, because very few and heterogeneous cost-related data were extracted, and the methodological quality of the cost analyses was questionable. Narrative syntheses confirmed the overall conclusions of the meta-analyses. CONCLUSIONS The effects of nursing consultations on patients with complex health conditions across healthcare settings appear to be at least similar to physician-led consultations or usual care. Nursing consultations appear to be more effective than physician-led consultations or usual care in terms of quality of life, health behaviour, mortality, patient satisfaction and medication adherence. Further analysis of the primary data is necessary to determine the patient populations and settings in which nursing consultations are most effective. Moderate study quality, diversity amongst and within systematic reviews, and quality of reporting hamper the strength of the findings.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Worldwide, responsibility for dementia diagnosis and management is shifting to primary care, in particular to the general practitioner (GP). It has been acknowledged that primary care nurses, working collaboratively with GPs, have a role in dementia care by utilising their unique knowledge and skills. However, there are no best-practice guidelines or care pathways to inform nurses in general practice on what best-practice dementia care comprises and how to implement this into their practice. This study identified the recommendations in the Australian guidelines for dementia management most relevant to the role of the nurse working in general practice. METHODS Seventeen experts active in clinical practice and/or research in primary care nursing in general practice participated in an online three-round Delphi study. RESULTS All 17 participants were female with a nursing qualification and experienced in general practice clinical nursing and/or general practice nursing research. Five recommendations were identified as the most relevant to the role of the nurse in general practice. These recommendations all contained elements of person-centred care: the delivery of individualised information, ongoing support, including the carer in decision-making, and they also align with the areas where GPs want support in dementia care provision. CONCLUSION This novel study identified best-practice dementia care recommendations specific to nurses in general practice. These recommendations will inform a model of care for nurses in the provision of dementia care that supports GPs and better meets the needs of people living with dementia and their carer(s).

Abstract
This narrative review explores the transformative impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on mental health nursing, particularly in enhancing psychiatric patient care. AI technologies present new strategies for early detection, risk assessment, and improving treatment adherence in mental health. They also facilitate remote patient monitoring, bridge geographical gaps, and support clinical decision-making. The evolution of virtual mental health assistants and AI-enhanced therapeutic interventions are also discussed. These technological advancements reshape the nurse-patient interactions while ensuring personalized, efficient, and high-quality care. The review also addresses AI's ethical and responsible use in mental health nursing, emphasizing patient privacy, data security, and the balance between human interaction and AI tools. As AI applications in mental health care continue to evolve, this review encourages continued innovation while advocating for responsible implementation, thereby optimally leveraging the potential of AI in mental health nursing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND While there is clear evidence that nurses can play a significant role in responding to the needs of populations with chronic conditions, there is a lack of consistency between and within primary care settings in the implementation of nursing processes for chronic disease management. Previous reviews have focused either on a specific model of care, populations with a single health condition, or a specific type of nurses. Since primary care nurses are involved in a wide range of services, a comprehensive perspective of effective nursing processes across primary care settings and chronic health conditions could allow for a better understanding of how to support them in a broader way across the primary care continuum. This systematic overview aims to provide a picture of the nursing processes and their characteristics in chronic disease management as reported in empirical studies, using the Chronic Care Model (CCM) conceptual approach. METHODS We conducted an umbrella review of systematic reviews published between 2005 and 2021 based on the recommendations of the Joanna Briggs Institute. The methodological quality was assessed independently by two reviewers using the AMSTAR 2 tool. RESULTS Twenty-six systematic reviews and meta-analyses were included, covering 394 primary studies. The methodological quality of most reviews was moderate. Self-care support processes show the most consistent positive outcomes across different conditions and primary care settings. Case management and nurse-led care show inconsistent outcomes. Most reviews report on the clinical components of the Chronic Care Model, with little mention of the decision support and clinical information systems components. CONCLUSIONS Placing greater emphasis on decision support and clinical information systems could improve the implementation of nursing processes. While the need for an interdisciplinary approach to primary care is widely promoted, it is important that this approach not be viewed solely from a clinical perspective. The organization of care and resources need to be designed to support contributions from all providers to optimize the full range of services available to patients with chronic conditions. Abstract
Background The National Mental Health Survey reports a huge treatment gap for all mental disorders. There is an acute shortage of mental health professionals in India. Hence, there is a dire need to support task-shift interventions by nurses in providing non-pharmacological interventions for persons suffering from mental health issues. The traditional psychiatric nursing curriculum emphasizes nurses' knowledge and skills rather than their competency in providing mental health care. We designed an innovative, digitally driven, modular-based primary care psychiatry program for nurses (PCPP-N) to incorporate mental health with physical health and emphasize redesigning nursing practice. In this paper, we discuss the rationale and guiding principles behind designing the curriculum of PCPP-N. Discussion The PCPP-N program is based on nine guiding principles to provide skill-based, pragmatic, and feasible modules of a higher collaborative care quotient (CCQ) and translational quotient (TQ) that are essential for upskilling primary care nurses. In this program, nurses are trained through telemedicine-based 'on-consultation training' augmented with collaborative video consultations. A tele-psychiatrist/tele-psychiatric nurse will demonstrate how to screen, identify, and plan treatment for patients with psychiatric disorders from patients coming for general medical care using the manual Clinical Schedules of Primary care psychiatry Nursing (CSP-N). The CSP-N manual includes a screener, simplified diagnosing guidelines relevant for nurses and primary care settings, nursing management, pharmacological management, and related side effects, counseling, and follow-up guidelines. This program helps the nurses in identifying the most commonly prevalent adult psychiatric disorders presenting to primary care. Conclusion This PCPN curriculum contains pragmatic modules with higher CCQ and TQ. This curriculum is dynamic as the learning is interactive. Upskilling primary care nurses in integrating mental health with physical health may reduce the mental health burden. Further, the policymakers and administrators plan to integrate mental health along with physical health in national health programs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study examined the feasibility and acceptability of the low-intensity mental health support via telehealth-enabled network (LISTEN) intervention, for adults with diabetes, facilitated by diabetes health professionals (HPs). METHODS LISTEN training. Three HPs participated in three half-day online workshops and applied their learnings during training cases (maximum four). Competency was assessed with a validated tool and achieved 'satisfactory' ratings for three consecutive sessions. LISTEN pilot. A single-group, pre-post study (up to four LISTEN sessions) with online assessments at baseline, post-intervention, and 4-week follow-up. Eligible participants were adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, with diabetes distress, but excluded if they had moderate/severe depressive and/or anxiety symptoms. Feasibility was assessed via recruitment and session completion rates. Acceptability was assessed with post-intervention self-report data. Changes in diabetes distress and general emotional well-being from baseline (T1) were explored at post-intervention (T2) and at 4-week follow-up (T3). RESULTS Two HPs achieved competency (median training case sessions required: 7) and progressed to deliver LISTEN in the pilot study. In the pilot, N = 16 adults (Med [IQR] age: 60 [37-73] years; 13 women) with diabetes participated (median sessions per participant: 2). Twelve participants (75%) completed the post-intervention assessment (T2): 92% endorsed the number of sessions offered as 'just right', 75% felt comfortable talking with the HP, and 67% were satisfied with LISTEN. Perceived limitations were the structured format and narrow scope of problems addressed. Diabetes distress scores were lower post-intervention. CONCLUSIONS This pilot demonstrates the feasibility of training HPs to deliver LISTEN, and the acceptability and potential benefits of LISTEN for adults with diabetes. The findings highlight adaptations that may enhance the delivery of, and satisfaction with, LISTEN that will be tested in a hybrid type 1 effectiveness-implementation trial.

Abstract
Background Screening for mental comorbidities and related liaison service can reduce hospital length of stay in somatic hospital care. To develop, test and sustain such health care services, stakeholder feedback is required. One of the most important stakeholders in general hospital care and health care processes are nurses. Aim The aim of this study is to explore nurses' experiencess on standardized nurse-led screening for mental comorbidities and associated psychosomatic consultation service in routine somatic inpatient care. Method Semi-structured qualitative interviews were conducted with 18 nurses that were involved in a nurse-led screening service for mental comorbidities on internal medicine or dermatological wards. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. Results Eight thematic groups were developed. On the one hand, participants reported benefits of screening: mental health education, general mental health awareness, holistic treatment approach, opportunity to build rapport with patients and reduction in workload. On the other hand, possible psychological effects of the intervention, reasons why patients may not want to be referred and application requirements to facilitate delivery were identified. None of the nurses opposed screening and associated psychosomatic consultation service. Conclusion All nurses endorsed the screening intervention and considered it meaningful. Nurses particularly emphasized the potential for holistic patient care and nurses' improved skills and competencies, but partly critizised current application requirements. Relevance to clinical practice This study adds on existent evidence on nurse-led screening for mental comorbidities and associated psychosomatic consultation service by emphasizing its potential to improve both patient care as well as nurses' perceived self-efficacy and job satisfaction. To take full advantage of this potential, however, usability improvements, regular supervision, and ongoing training for nurses need to be considered.

Abstract
Mental ill-health is one of the greatest public health challenges in Sweden, and it is estimated that every third person seeking primary care in the country suffers from mental ill-health. Without proper treatment at an early stage, mental ill-health may lead to long-term illness and have a significant impact on functional ability. As district nurses are specialists in public health nursing, they have been pointed out as having a key role in the prevention and management of mental ill-health. The aim was to explore district nurses' practice in caring for people with mental ill-health within primary health care. Individual semi-structured interviews were conducted with district nurses (n = 18) and the transcribed text was subjected to qualitative content analysis. The result was formulated as several subthemes, eventually developed into three themes: Practicing within an organisation where traditional attitudes are impediments, Perceiving mental healthcare as not being an obvious part of district nursing, Working as fellow human beings rather than "professionals". The findings indicate that district nurses feel uncertainty in their practice in this area. Working independently with mental ill-health was not always considered socially acceptable among district nurses. Despite these challenges they tried to remain involved without becoming emotionally overwhelmed. They also strived to meet the needs of these patients with 'small things', that could be effective and a part of recovery-oriented practice, even if they might be defined as unprofessional, and their efficacy negated.

Abstract
Background Improper or insufficient treatment of mental health illness harms individuals, families, and society. When psychiatric treatment shifts from a hospital-based to a community-based health care system, risk management is essential to the provision of effective care. Objective We examine whether an upgrade in home visit frequency of psychiatric patients as identified by public health nurses can predict the subsequent need for emergency escort services for medical treatment. Design A 2-year retrospective medical record review. Settings A district of New Taipei City in Taiwan. Participants A total of 425 patients with a diagnosed mental health illness cared for through home visits by public health nurses from January 2018 to December 2019. Methods We accessed the Ministry of Health and Welfare's psychiatric care management information system to identify a set of medical records, and analyzed these records using chi-square and regression analyses. Results The analyses indicated that the groups experiencing the greatest need for emergency escort services were: male, 35-49 years old, with a senior high school level of education, without a disability identification card, with a schizophrenia diagnosis, and had been reported by the nurse as having progressed to a serious level. Nurses' increased frequency of home visits (an indicator that the patient's overall condition was worsening) and nurses' reports of increased severity of problems were significant predictors of the need for emergency escort services. Conclusions The nurses' adjustment of visit frequency based on the results of the visit assessment predicts the need for emergency escort services for mental patients. The findings support not only the professional roles and functions of public health nurses, but also the importance of strengthening psychiatric health community support services.

Abstract
Background and Objectives Patients with primary malignant brain tumors may experience mental health disturbances that can significantly affect their daily life. This study aims to identify risk factors and generate predictive models for postoperative mental health disturbances (PMHDs) in adult glioma patients in accordance with different clinical periods; additionally, survival analyses will be performed. Methods This longitudinal cohort study included 2,243 adult patients (age at diagnosis ≥ 18 years) with nonrecurrent glioma who were pathologically diagnosed and had undergone initial surgical resection. Six indicators of distress, sadness, fear, irritability, mood and enjoyment of life, ranging from 0-10, were selected to assess PMHDs in glioma patients in the third month after surgery, mainly referring to the M.D. Anderson Symptom Inventory Brain Tumor Module (MDASI-BT). Factor analysis (FA) was applied on these indicators to divide participants into PMHD and control groups based on composite factor scores. Survival analyses were performed, and separate logistic regression models were formulated for preoperative and postoperative factors predicting PMHDs. Results A total of 2,243 adult glioma patients were included in this study. Based on factor analysis results, 300 glioma patients had PMHDs in the third postoperative month, and the remaining 1,943 were controls. Candidate predictors for PMHDs in the preoperative model were associated with age, clinical symptoms (intracranial space-occupying lesion, muscle weakness and memory deterioration), and tumor location (corpus callosum, basal ganglia and brainstem), whereas age, clinical symptoms (nausea and memory deterioration), tumor location (basal ganglia and brainstem), hospitalization days, WHO grade 4, postoperative chemotherapy or radiotherapy and postoperative Karnofsky Performance Scale (KPS) served as important factors in the postoperative model. In addition, the median overall survival (OS) time for glioma patients with PMHDs was 19 months, compared to 13 months for glioblastoma, IDH-wild type (GBM) patients with PMHDs. Conclusion The risk factors for PMHDs were identified. These findings may provide new insights into predicting the probability of PMHD occurrence in glioma patients in addition to aiding effective early intervention and improving prognosis based on different clinical stages.

Abstract
This systematic review and meta-analysis study aims to determine the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the prevalence of insomnia, anxiety, and depression symptoms during pregnancy. Reviews were done through PubMed, EBSCO (Medline, CINAHL), Embase (OVID), Web of Science, PsycINFO, TR Index, Turkish Thesis Center databases using (pregnancy OR pregnant) and (sleep OR sleep disorders OR insomnia), and (anxiety OR depression) keywords between April and May 2021. The meta-analysis included 48 articles (sample: 77,299). It was found that the Covid-19 pandemic did not affect the prevalence of depression symptoms and anxiety during pregnancy, but it increased insomnia. While insomnia ratio was reported 39.6% (95% CI: 0.253-0.560) in the studies conducted before the pandemic, it was reported 88.8% (95% CI: 0.821-0.921) in the studies conducted during the pandemic. This study found that the Covid-19 pandemic did not have effects on depression symptoms and anxiety, but it increased insomnia complaints.

Abstract
AIM The study aimed to synthesize evidence comparing task-shifting interventions led by general practice nurses and mental health specialists in improving mental health outcomes of adults in primary care. DESIGN This study used a systematic review of randomized controlled trials. DATA SOURCES Articles from the databases CINAHL, MEDLINE, APA PsycInfo, PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane EBM Reviews, Web of Science Core Collection, and ProQuest Dissertation and Thesis published between 2000 and 2020 were included. REVIEW METHODS The review was arranged based on the Cochrane Collaboration guidelines and reported using the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). RESULTS Twelve articles met the eligibility criteria. Eight studies revealed that nurse-led intervention was significantly superior to its comparator. The review identified three major themes: training and supervision, single and collaborative care and psychosocial treatments. CONCLUSION Nurses could be temporarily employed to provide mental health services in the absence of mental health specialists as long as appropriate training and supervision was provided. This finding should be interpreted with caution due to the high risk of bias in the studies reviewed and the limited generalisability of their findings.

Abstract
Background The global COVID-19 pandemic has escalated the prevalence of mental illness in the community. While specialist mental health nurses have advanced training and skills in mental health care, supporting mental health is a key role for all nurses. As front-line health care professionals, primary health care (PHC) nurses need to be prepared and confident in managing mental health issues. Aim To critically analyse and synthesise international literature about the knowledge gaps and learning needs of PHC nurses in providing mental health care. Design and methods An integrative review. The quality of papers was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. Data were extracted into a summary table and analysed using narrative analysis. Data sources CINAHL, Ovid MEDLINE, Web of Science and EBSCO electronic databases were searched between 1999 and 2019. Papers were included if they reported original research which explored mental health education/training of nurses working in PHC. Findings Of the 652 papers identified, 13 met the inclusion criteria. Four themes were identified: preparedness; addressing knowledge gaps, education programs, and facilitators and barriers. Discussion Despite increasing integration of physical and mental health management in PHC, there is limited evidence relating to knowledge gaps and skills development of PHC nurses or their preparedness to provide mental health care. Conclusion Findings from this review, together with the global increase in mental illness in communities arising from COVID-19, highlight the need for PHC nurses to identify their mental health learning needs and engage in education to prepare them to meet rising service demands.

Abstract
Background Task-shifting, the distribution of tasks among health workers to address health workforce shortage, has been widely used to tackle mental health treatment gaps. However, its implementation in Indonesia has still been rarely explored. This study aimed to explore stakeholders’ perspectives on the implementation of mental health task-shifting to nurses in Indonesia's primary health care. Methods An exploratory descriptive approach using in-depth interviews and focused group discussions (FGDs) was used. The study involved 19 stakeholders from the government's ministry directorates, professional organisations, and mental health practitioners. Thematic analysis was used to analyse the data. Results Three themes emerged namely, task-shifting feasibility and acceptability, shared task implementation, and nurse role enhancement issues, with 14 sub-themes. Conclusions Task-shifting on mental health issues in the eye of Indonesian stakeholders is viewed as a matter of sharing and collaboration. Implementation of task-shifting in Indonesia may require policies in place and political will across stakeholders. Further scrutiny on task-shifting implementation is needed by considering the local context and national environment.

Abstract
Background Despite the increased deployment and added value of Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapy (APP) in musculoskeletal care internationally, APP is not yet widely accepted within Dutch primary care. This may be due to specific constraints in the implementation of APP within the Dutch healthcare system. This study aimed to explore the experiences and perceptions of Advanced Practitioner Physiotherapists (APPs) and General Practitioners (GPs) with respect to implementing APP within Dutch primary care. Methods This explorative and interpretive qualitative study included 12 APPs and 3 GPs who were in various stages of implementing an APP care model. Semi-structured interviews were conducted between January and March 2021. The topic list was based on existing literature, the personal input of researchers, and the Constellation Approach framework. Data were analysed using a thematic inductive approach. Results Four main themes emerged from the data; 1) Both GPs’ trust in APP and a clear added value of APP are critical for starting implementation, 2) APPs need continuous support from GPs, 3) APPs believe that their position needs strengthening, and 4) Implementation of the APP model creates tension over ownership. These four themes highlight the perceived difficulties in gaining trust, lack of clarity over the added value of APP, ambiguity over APPs’ professional profile and positioning, a need on behalf of GPs to maintain authority, lack of reimbursement structure, and the struggle APPs face to strike a balance with current care. Conclusion This study demonstrates that implementing an APP model of care is challenging, in part, because the deployment of APP does not sufficiently align with the core values of GPs, while GPs appear reluctant to hand over control of elements of patient care to APPs. APPs do not appear to have ownership over the implementation, given their strong dependence on the practice, values and needs of GPs. Trial registration Ethical approval was obtained from the Medical Ethics Committee of VU University Medical Centre in Amsterdam; reference number 2020.17 . All participants were asked to provide written informed consent prior to participating in the study. Abstract
Irish Travellers are a minority ethnic group within the Irish state with a distinct culture and set of traditions. Travellers experience mental health inequalities, high rates of mental ill health, and structural and individual barriers to mental health supports. A Traveller Mental Health Liaison Nurse (TMHLN) was introduced in a healthcare region in Ireland to provide greater mental health-related support to Travellers. This paper presents a description of the TMHLN role following a multi-stakeholder evaluation. The research design was descriptive qualitative and the findings are reported using COREQ criteria. Thirty-four key stakeholders were interviewed individually or as part of focus groups. Thematic analysis generated two broad themes: the role context, and the specific activities of the role. Mental health nursing experience and understanding of local issues and services were key, as was use of language, building trusting relations, creating the metaphorical, and having the physical, space for working. Specific activities involved in-reach and outreach work, including one-to-one mental health support provision, delivery of education/training sessions to Travellers and service providers, (re)establishing links to specialist services, integrated and interagency working, and promoting cultural competency. The findings set out a role with a greater emphasis on the use of recovery technologies, having an emphasis on psychosocial interventions and self-care, and less focus on biomedical technologies, signs and symptoms, and clinical outcomes. This study contributes to knowledge on the role of a MHLN as this relates to working with marginalized minority groups.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Cardiovascular disease (CVD) and risk factors remains a major burden in terms of disease, disability, and death in the Australian population and mental health is considered as an important risk factor affecting cardiovascular disease. A multidisciplinary collaborative approach in primary care is required to ensure an optimal outcome for managing cardiovascular patients with mental health issues. Medicare introduced numerous primary care health services and medications that are subsidised by the Australian government in order to provide a more structured approach to reduce and manage CVD. However, the utilisation of these services nor gender comparison for CVD management in primary care has been explored. Therefore, the aim is to compare the provision of subsidised chronic disease management plans (CDMPs), mental health care and prescription of guideline-indicated medications to men and women with CVD in primary care practices for secondary prevention. METHODS De-identified data for all active patients with CVD were extracted from 50 Australian primary care practices. Outcomes included the frequency of receipt of CDMPs, mental health care and prescription of evidence-based medications. Analyses adjusted for demography and clinical characteristics, stratified by gender, were performed using logistic regression and accounted for clustering effects by practices. RESULTS Data for 14,601 patients with CVD (39.4% women) were collected. The odds of receiving the CDMPs was significantly greater amongst women than men (preparation of general practice management plan [GPMP]: (46% vs 43%; adjusted OR [95% CI]: 1.22 [1.12, 1.34]). Women were more likely to have diagnosed with mental health issues (32% vs 20%, p<0.0001), however, the adjusted odds of men and women receiving any government-subsidised mental health care were similar. Women were less often prescribed blood pressure, lipid-lowering and antiplatelet medications. After adjustment, only an antiplatelet medication or agent was less likely to be prescribed to women than men (44% vs 51%; adjusted OR [95% CI]: 0.84 [0.76, 0.94]). CONCLUSION Women were more likely to receive CDMPs but less likely to receive antiplatelet medications than men, no gender difference was observed in the receipt of mental health care. However, the receipt of the CDMPs and the mental health treatment consultations were suboptimal and better use of these existing services could improve ongoing CVD management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Mental health treatment rates are increasing, but the burden of disease has not reduced. Tools to support efficient resource distribution are required. AIM To investigate whether a person-centred e-health (Target-D) platform matching depression care to symptom severity prognosis can improve depressive symptoms relative to usual care. DESIGN AND SETTING Stratified individually randomised controlled trial in 14 general practices in Melbourne, Australia, from April 2016 to February 2019. In total, 1868 participants aged 18-65 years who had current depressive symptoms; internet access; no recent change to antidepressant; no current antipsychotic medication; and no current psychological therapy were randomised (1:1) via computer-generated allocation to intervention or usual care. METHOD The intervention was an e-health platform accessed in the GP waiting room, comprising symptom feedback, priority-setting, and prognosis-matched management options (online self-help, online guided psychological therapy, or nurse-led collaborative care). Management options were flexible, neither participants nor staff were blinded, and there were no substantive protocol deviations. The primary outcome was depressive symptom severity (9-item Patient Health Questionnaire [PHQ-9]) at 3 months. RESULTS In intention to treat analysis, estimated between- arm difference in mean PHQ-9 scores at 3 months was -0.88 (95% confidence interval [CI] = -1.45 to -0.31) favouring the intervention, and -0.59 at 12 months (95% CI = -1.18 to 0.01); standardised effect sizes of -0.16 (95% CI = -0.26 to -0.05) and -0.10 (95% CI = -0.21 to 0.002), respectively. No serious adverse events were reported. CONCLUSION Matching management to prognosis using a person-centred e-health platform improves depressive symptoms at 3 months compared to usual care and could feasibly be implemented at scale. Scope exists to enhance the uptake of management options.

Abstract
Poor self-care behaviors can lead to an increase in the risk of adverse health outcomes among patients with heart failure. Although a number of studies have investigated the effectiveness of nurse-led self-care education, the evidence regarding the effects of nurse-led intervention in heart failure remains uncertain. This study aimed to evaluate evidence on the effectiveness of nurse-led heart failure self-care education on health outcomes in patients with heart failure. To identify studies testing nurse-led education designed to improve self-care among heart failure patients, comprehensive search methods were used between January 2000 and October 2019 to systematically search six electronic databases: PubMed, CINAHL, Embase, Cochrane library, Web of Science, and SCOPUS. All the eligible study data elements were independently assessed and analyzed using random-effects meta-analysis methods. Of 612 studies, eight articles were eligible for this study. Nurse-led heart failure self-care education significantly reduced the risk of all-cause readmission (risk ratio (RR) = 0.75, 95% confidence interval (CI) = 0.66–0.85), heart failure specific readmission (RR = 0.60, 95% CI = 0.42–0.85), and all-cause mortality or readmission (RR = 0.71, 95% CI = 0.61–0.82). However, nurse-led heart failure self-care education was not associated with improvements in the quality of life and heart failure knowledge. Studies on the effectiveness of nurse-led heart failure self-care education mostly report only the positive effects on patients’ health outcomes, whereas evidence of the effectiveness of the nurse-led approach is still limited. Therefore, high quality randomized controlled trials with detailed and explicit descriptions on the components of the interventions are needed.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Registered nurses are uniquely positioned to fill shortages in the geropsychiatric healthcare workforce. With training, nurses can coordinate both mental and physical healthcare and deliver mental health interventions. Our objective was to determine how nursing educators are preparing students to care for the mental health needs of older adults and to explore the challenges they face in this effort. METHODS This was a qualitative study using semi-structured, in-depth interviews. Participants were undergraduate psychiatric nursing instructors recruited from schools of nursing in the Northeastern United States. Semistructured interviews focused on challenges and strategies related to preparing nursing students to meet the mental health needs of older patients. RESULTS Fourteen interviews were conducted. An overarching theme of bias against geropsychiatric care was identified as a challenge for educators. Educators reported that nursing students carry biases against patients with mental illness and older patients. Nursing students indicated negative perceptions of the psychiatric and geriatric nursing specialties. Most nursing students plan to work in nonpsychiatric settings and do not consider mental health a priority for their patients. To overcome these challenges, educators suggested increased exposure and integration. To prepare new nurses to care for the mental health needs of older patients, nursing schools should expose nursing students to older adults in a variety of settings and integrate mental health topics and training throughout the undergraduate nursing curriculum. CONCLUSION Nursing schools should evaluate their curricula to ensure that mental health content is prioritized and sufficiently integrated with physical health topics. An increased focus on geropsychiatric and integrated mental health content should be supported by nursing programs and state boards of nursing.
