Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW Acute pancreatitis is a common acute inflammatory disorder of the pancreas, and its incidence has been increasing worldwide. Approximately 10% of acute pancreatitis progresses to severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), which carries significant morbidity and mortality. Disordered immune response to pancreatic injury is regarded as a key event that mediates systemic injury in SAP. In this article, we review recent developments in immune biomarkers of SAP and future directions for research. RECENT FINDINGS Given the importance of the NLRP3-inflammasome pathway in mediating systemic inflammatory response syndrome and systemic injury, recent studies have investigated associations of SAP with systemic levels of activators of NLRP3, such as the damage associated molecular patterns (DAMPs) for the first time in human SAP. For example, circulating levels of histones, mitochondrial DNAs, and cell free DNAs have been associated with SAP. A panel of mechanistically relevant immune markers (e.g., panel of Angiopoeitin-2, hepatocyte growth factor, interleukin-8 (IL-8), resistin and sTNF-α R1) carried higher predictive accuracies than existing clinical scores and individual immune markers. Of the cytokines with established relevance to SAP pathogenesis, phase 2 trials of immunotherapies, including tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-alpha inhibition and stimulation of IL-10 production, are underway to determine if altering the immunologic response can reduce the severity of acute pancreatitis (AP). SUMMARY Circulating systemic levels of various DAMPs and a panel of immune markers that possibly reflect activities of different pathways that drive SAP appear promising as predictive biomarkers for SAP. But larger multicenter studies are needed for external validation. Studies investigating immune cellular pathways driving SAP using immunophenotyping techniques are scarce. Interdisciplinary efforts are also needed to bring some of the promising biomarkers to the bedside for validation and testing for clinical utility. Studies investigating the role of and characterization of altered gut-lymph and gut-microbiota in severe AP are needed.

Abstract
Erectile dysfunction is a common disease characterized by endothelial dysfunction. The aetiology of ED is often multifactorial but evidence is being accumulated in favor of the proper function of the vascular endothelium that is essential to achieving and maintaining penile erection. Uric acid itself causes endothelial dysfunction via decreased nitric oxide production. This study aims to evaluate the serum uric acid (SUA) levels in 180 ED patients, diagnosed with the International Index of Erectile Function-5 (IIEF-5) and 30 non-ED control. Serum uric acid was analyzed with a commercially available kit using ModularEVO (Roche, Monza, Italy). Within-assay and between-assay variations were 3.0% and 6.0%, respectively. Out of the ED patients, 85 were classified as arteriogenic (A-ED) and 95 as non-arteriogenic (NA-ED) with penile-echo-color-Doppler. Uric acid levels (median and range in mg/dL) in A-ED patients (5.8, 4.3-7.5) were significantly higher (p < .001) than in NA-ED patients (4.4, 2.6-5.9) and in control group (4.6, 3.1-7.2). There was a significant difference (p < .001) between uric acid levels in patients with mild A-ED (IIEF-5 16-20) and severe/complete A-ED (IIEF-5 ≤ 10) that were 5.4 (range 4.3-6.5) mg/dL and 6.8 (range 6.4-7.2) mg/dL, respectively. There was no difference between the levels of uric acid in patients with different degree of NA-ED. Our findings reveal that SUA is a marker of ED but only of ED of arteriogenic aetiology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Acute pancreatitis (AP) is commonly associated with the release of adhesion molecules such as E and P selectins. We designed the present study to evaluate the role of selectins as potential markers that could reflect the severity of the disease. METHODS One hundred fifty patients with AP constituted the patient group, whereas 70 healthy volunteers established the control group. In both groups, blood samples were taken for measurements of E selectin, P selectin, caspase-cleaved cytokeratin 18, and total soluble cytokeratin 18 levels on admission and days 1, 2, 4, and 6. RESULTS Values of E and P selectins on admission were both elevated compared with control subjects (P < 0.01). The nonsurvivors had higher values of E selectin (P < 0.04) and P selectin (P < 0.03) on admission. Levels of E and P selectin showed positive correlation with the length of stay (P < 0.05). E selectin on admission yielded a sensitivity of 75% and 78% specificity, whereas P selectin had a sensitivity of 67% and 91% specificity. CONCLUSIONS Selectin values in the early course of AP may play a role as indicators of overall prognosis, which may help physicians in better understanding the pathophysiology of a benign disease that may have serious and detrimental complications.

Abstract
AIM To evaluate the left ventricular systolic function in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) by strain rate imaging (SRI), and to analyze its correlation with computed tomography severity index (CTSI).
METHODS Seventy-four cases of AP treated at the Zhejiang Hospital were divided into two groups according to the severity: edematous pancreatitis group (group A, 43 cases) and hemorrhagic necrosis pancreatitis group (group B, 31 cases). At the same time, 45 cases of healthy persons were selected as a normal group. All the subjects underwent SRI, CT, and measurement of plasma brain natriuretic peptide precursor (BNP-pro) levels, and these parameters were compared between different groups. The correlation between these parameters was also analyzed
RESULTS CTSI score in group B was significantly higher than that in group A (P < 0.05). Plasma BNP-pro level in group B was significantly higher than that in group A and the normal group. Left ventricular ejective fraction (LVEF), mitral e peak and a peak ratio (E/A), and mean of systolic strain rate peak (mSRs) were significantly lower in group B than in group A and the normal group (P < 0.05). Plasma BNP-pro level in group A was significantly higher than that in the normal group, while mSRs was significantly lower than that in the normal group (P < 0.05). mSRs was negatively correlated with plasma BNP-pro level and CTSI score in patients with AP (r = -0.825, r = -0.775, P < 0.05).
CONCLUSION SRI can accurately evaluate left ventricular systolic function in patients with AP, and has a good correlation with CTSI score, which can help to assess the severity of AP.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The endocannabinoid system plays a substantial role in analgesia. AIM To analyze N-arachidonoylethanolamine (AEA), N-oleoylethanolamine (OEA), linoleoyl ethanolamide (LEA), α-linoleoyl ethanolamine (α-LNEA), N-palmitoylethanolamine (PEA) and N-stearoyl ethanolamine (SEA) in two groups of patients having chronic pancreatic diseases. PATIENTS AND METHODS Twenty-six patients with chronic pancreatitis, 26 patients with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and 36 healthy subjects were studied. The visual analogic scale (VAS) was used for assessing pain immediately before the venipuncture to obtain blood in all subjects. Six endocannabinoids were measured in serum of the patients enrolled. RESULTS Only OEA, LEA and PEA serum levels were significantly higher in patients with pain as compared to those without. Using the cutoff values, the sensitivity and specificity of the various endocannabinoids in evaluating pain in patients with chronic pancreatitis and in those with pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma were: 44.2% and 95.6% for AEA, 83.7% and 73.3% for LEA, 88.4% and 91.1% for LNEA, 81.4% and 82.2% for OEA, 81.4% and 88.9% for PEA, 86.0% and 88.9% for SEA, respectively. CONCLUSION Endocannabinoids are not useful in assessing pain in patients with chronic pancreatic diseases and they cannot replace a simple method such as VAS for assessing the pain and its intensity.

Abstract
Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease with varied severity, ranging from mild local inflammation to severe systemic involvement resulting in substantial mortality. Early pathologic events in AP, both local and systemic, are associated with vascular derangements, including endothelial activation and injury, dysregulation of vasomotor tone, increased vascular permeability, increased leukocyte migration to tissues, and activation of coagulation. The purpose of the review was to summarize current evidence regarding the interplay between inflammation, coagulation and endothelial dysfunction in the early phase of AP. Practical aspects were emphasized: (1) we summarized available data on diagnostic usefulness of the markers of endothelial dysfunction and activated coagulation in early prediction of severe AP; (2) we reviewed in detail the results of experimental studies and clinical trials targeting coagulation-inflammation interactions in severe AP. Among laboratory tests, d-dimer and angiopoietin-2 measurements seem the most useful in early prediction of severe AP. Although most clinical trials evaluating anticoagulants in treatment of severe AP did not show benefits, they also did not show significantly increased bleeding risk. Promising results of human trials were published for low molecular weight heparin treatment. Several anticoagulants that proved beneficial in animal experiments are thus worth testing in patients.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Endothelial injury is believed to play an important role in the evolution of pancreatic microcirculatory dysfunction and pancreatic necrosis (PN) in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP). The aim of this study was to investigate the role of three endothelial markers (von Willebrand factor, vWF; E-selectin; endothelial protein C receptor, EPCR) in the early phase of AP, especially the relationship between endothelial markers and PN. METHODS From March 2015 to March 2016, 57 AP patients admitted within 72 h of symptom onset in our hospital were included for this study. Blood samples were taken on admission and the clinical characteristics and outcomes of these patients were recorded. The levels of vWF, E-selectin and EPCR were measured using ELISA for analysis and compared with other severity markers of AP. RESULTS All the three markers were significantly different in healthy control, mild, moderate and severe AP patients. Moreover, the endothelial markers, especially vWF, also showed significant difference in patients with different extent of PN, as well as those with or without MODS. Additionally, the levels of endothelial markers correlated well with other commonly used markers of AP severity. CONCLUSION Elevated endothelium-related mediators (vWF, E-selectin and EPCR) appear to participate in the development of PN and may be a potential indicator of overall prognosis. Our results may help clinicians better understand the pathophysiological process of the development of PN.

Abstract
Organ failure is the most important determinant of the severity of acute pancreatitis (AP). Soluble fms-like tyrosine kinase 1 (sFlt-1) is positively associated with organ failure in sepsis. Our aim was to evaluate the diagnostic utility of automated sFlt-1 measurements for early prediction of AP severity. Adult patients (66) with AP were recruited, including 46 with mild (MAP), 15 with moderately-severe (MSAP) and 5 with severe AP (SAP). Serum and urine samples were collected twice. Serum sFlt-1 was measured with automated electrochemiluminescence immunoassay. Serum concentrations of sFlt-1 were significantly higher in patients with MSAP and SAP as compared to MAP. SAP patients had the highest concentrations. At 24 and 48 h, sFlt-1 positively correlated with inflammatory markers (leukocyte count, C-reactive protein), kidney function (creatinine, urea, cystatin C, serum and urine neutrophil gelatinase-associated lipocalin, urine albumin/creatinine ratio), D-dimer and angiopoietin-2. sFlt-1 positively correlated with the bedside index of severity in AP (BISAP) score and the duration of hospital stay. Serum sFlt-1 above 139 pg/mL predicted more severe AP (MSAP + SAP). In the early phase of AP, sFlt-1 is positively associated with the severity of AP and predicts organ failure, in particular kidney failure. Serum sFlt-1 may be a practical way to improve early assessment of AP severity.

Abstract
Acute pancreatitis (AP) is an inflammatory disease of highly variable severity, ranging from mild cases with low mortality to severe cases with high mortality. Numerous biomarkers have been studied as potential early predictors of the severity of this disease so that treatment can be optimally tailored to prevent complications. We aim to present and discuss the most relevant biomarkers for early severity assessment in AP that have been studied to date. We review the current literature on biomarkers that have been used to predict the severity in AP. C-reactive protein (CRP) is still considered to be the gold standard, with a cut-off value of 150 mg/ml 48 h after disease onset. Other markers, including procalcitonin (PCT) and interleukin 6 (IL-6) have been implemented in some hospitals, but are not used on a routine basis. Most other markers, including acute phase proteins (LBP, SAA, PTX3), cytokines (Il-8, TNF-a, MIF), activation peptides of pancreatic proteases (TAP, CAPAP, PLAP), antiproteases (AAT, a2M), adhesion molecules (ICAM-1, selectins, E-cadherin) and leukocyte-derived enzymes (PA2, PMN-E) have shown some promising results but have not been routinely implemented. Furthermore, new and interesting biomarkers (Copeptin, TRX-1, Ang-2, E-2) have shown good results, but more research is needed to determine if they could play a role in the future. Various reasons why new markers for disease severity have not been adopted in daily routine include low accuracy, cumbersome laboratory techniques and high cost. Despite these difficulties, research is still very active in finding new markers to predict the severity of AP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To investigate the role of endothelial cell mediators, E-selectin (ES), intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1), tissue factor (TF), and von Willebrand factor (vWF), in the early phase of severe acute pancreatitis (SAP) complicated with respiratory failure [pancreatitis-associated lung injury (PALI)]. PATIENTS AND METHODS This study included 30 patients with SAP and 39 patients with PALI. Blood samples were taken from SAP and PALI patients on presenting to the hospital (day 1), and days 2, 3, 5, and 10. The relationship between blood concentrations of the studied endothelial mediators and lung function tests was analyzed. RESULTS PALI patients had significantly higher ES, ICAM-1, TF, and vWF blood levels than those with SAP as early as at admission and throughout the period studied. We found the highest concentration of ES on the second day, ICAM-1 and TF at admission, and vWF level on the fifth day. There were adverse correlations between ES, ICAM-1, TF, vWF concentrations, and the index of oxygenation--PaO2/FiO2 ratio (Rs=-0.385, Rs=-0.523, Rs=-0.505, Rs=-0.408, P<0.001, respectively). The most accurate prediction of PALI was provided by ICAM-1 and TF levels on the day of admission [areas under curve (AUCs): ES, 0.704; ICAM-1, 0.787; TF, 0.757; and vWF, 0.686]. CONCLUSION Endothelium-related mediators ES, ICAM-1, TF, and vWF appear to participate in pancreatitis-associated lung injury. In SAP, the measurement of endothelial mediator levels (especially ICAM-1 and TF) may be used as an early prognostic indicator that would predict the development of respiratory failure and to monitor the severity of lung dysfunction.

Abstract
We examined the role of Mag, an autoimmune susceptibility locus encoded by the telomeric region of MRL/MpJ mouse chromosome 1, in the pathogenesis of autoimmune exocrinopathy. At nine to 12 months of age, strain-specific differences were observed in the pancreas of the animals. B- and T-cell-containing periductal/perivascular cell infiltrations in the pancreases of MRL/MpJ and B6.MRLc1 congenic C57BL/6-background Mag-carrying strains were more severe than were those of C57BL/6. Pancreatic periductal/perivascular cell infiltration was observed frequently in A/J, AKR/N, B6.MRLc1, C57BL/6, and MRL/MpJ, moderately in DBA/1 and DBA/2, and rarely in BALB/c and C3H/He strains. Females tended to have greater pancreatic periductal/perivascular cell infiltration than males. C57BL/6 mice possessed defined borders between cell infiltrations and acini, but borders were indistinct in MRL/MpJ and B6.MRLc1 mice. We attributed this to the invasion of inflammatory cells between each acinus and the disruption of acinar cells around cell infiltrations in the latter strains. No strain-specific differences were observed in the appearance of fibrotic lesions and high endothelial venules in the cell infiltrates. The levels of serum anti-dsDNA antibodies and amylase, and mRNA expression of tumor necrosis factor-α and Fc gamma receptor III (encoded on Mag) in the pancreases, were elevated in MRL/MpJ- and B6.MRLc1-strain mice relative to C57BL/6. These results emphasized the crucial roles of Mag in the molecular and genetic pathogenesis of autoimmune-mediated pancreatitis.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To assess the early changes of soluble IFN-γ, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-5, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IL-12, TNF-α, TNF-β, IL-17A, IL-22, soluble (s) P-Selectin, sE-Selectin and sICAM-1 in post-ERCP pancreatitis (PEP). METHODS Single center, prospective study of 318 ERCP procedures. Serum samples were acquired from all patients prior to ERCP, 6 hours and 24 hours after the procedure. For every PEP case, another patient was chosen as a control, matched for gender, age and time period in which ERCP took place. RESULTS Totally, 28 cases and 28 controls were studied. Except for significantly higher IL-1b levels in cases at baseline, no significant differences were observed between cases and controls after Bonferroni corrections. An increase in IL-6 was noted between baseline and 6 h in cases alone (p=0.016). There was a significant fall in sP-selectin levels at 6 and 24 hours compared to baseline in all patients (corrected p=0.008 and 0.016 for cases and 0.016 and 0.048 for controls respectively). An increase of sE-selectin in cases was observed between 6 and 24 hours post-ERCP (corrected p=0.03). CONCLUSIONS Soluble forms of cytokines and adhesion molecules studied seem not to play a major role in PEP.

Abstract
The study aimed to determine the effect of the activated protein C on the course of systemic inflammation in the APCAP (activated protein C in acute pancreatitis) trial where we randomized 32 patients with severe acute pancreatitis to receive either recombinant activated protein C (drotrecogin alfa activated) (n = 16) or placebo (n = 16) for 96 hours. In the present study, we present the time course of the patients' plasma or serum levels of soluble markers (IL-8, IL-6, IL-10, IL-1ra, sE-selectin, PCT) and monocyte and neutrophil cell surface (CD11b, CD14, CD62L, HLA-DR) markers of systemic inflammatory response during the first 14 days after the randomization. The results of the intervention and placebo groups were comparable showing that recombinant APC treatment did not alter the course of systemic inflammation in severe acute pancreatitis. Our finding is in accordance with the clinical findings in the APCAP trial indicating that the intervention did not affect evolution of multiple organ dysfunctions.

Abstract
Inflammation is defined as the normal response of living tissue to injury or infection. It is important to emphasize two components of this definition. First, that inflammation is a normal response and, as such, is expected to occur when tissue is damaged. Infact, if injured tissue does not exhibit signs of inflammation this would be considered abnormal and wounds and infections would never heal without inflammation. Secondly, inflammation occurs in living tissue, hence there is need for an adequate blood supply to the tissues in order to exhibit an inflammatory response. The inflammatory response may be triggered by mechanical injury, chemical toxins, and invasion by microorganisms, and hypersensitivity reactions. Three major events occur during the inflammatory response: the blood supply to the affected area is increased substantially, capillary permeability is increased, and leucocytes migrate from the capillary vessels into the surrounding interstitial spaces to the site of inflammation or injury. The inflammatory response represents a complex biological and biochemical process involving cells of the immune system and a plethora of biological mediators. Cell-to-cell communication molecules such as cytokines play an extremely important role in mediating the process of inflammation. Inflammation and platelet activation are critical phenomena in the setting of acute coronary syndromes. An extensive exposition of this complex phenomenon is beyond the scope of this article (Rankin 2004).

Abstract
AIM: To investigate the relationship of plasma levels of soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), tumor necrosis factor-alpha (TNF-α) and D-dimer with disease severity in patients with acute pancreatitis (AP).
METHODS: Thirty-four patients with severe acute pancreatitis (SAP), 22 patients with mild acute pancreatitis (MAP), 36 patients with systemic inflammatory response syndrome (SIRS), 20 patients with non-SIRS diseases, and 24 healthy volunteers were evaluated in this study. Plasma concentrations of sICAM-1, TNF-α and D-dimer were measured by ELISA. The data obtained were subjected to one-way ANOVA, Pearson correlation and ROC curve analyses.
RESULTS: There were significant differences in plasma sICAM-1 and D-dimer levels between SAP and MAP patients (740.18 μg/L ± 649.54 μg/L vs 481.18 μg/L ± 306.50 μg/L; 0.90 mg/L ± 0.20 mg/L vs 0.69 mg/L ± 0.19 mg/L, both P < 0.05). Significant difference was also noted in plasma TNF-α level between AP patients and healthy controls though there was no significant difference in plasma TNF-α level between SAP and MAP patients. Compared with the non-SIRS group, the plasma concentrations of sICAM-1, TNF-α and D-dimer were significantly higher in the SIRS group (741.17 µg/L ± 592.95 µg/L vs 479.65 µg/L ± 451.21 µg/L; 17.82 µg/L ± 13.84 µg/L vs 12.09 µg/L ± 3.99 µg/L; 0.90 mg/L ± 0.17 mg/L vs 0.69 mg/L ± 0.23 mg/L, all P < 0.05). Plasma sICAM-1 level was related to D-dimer level in both MAP (r = 0.738, P < 0.01) and SAP patients (r = 0.452, P < 0.01). Plasma TNF-α level was not correlated with D-dimer level (r = 0.110, P = 0.420). D-dimer had larger area under the ROC curve in diagnosing SAP.
CONCLUSION: Plasma sICAM-1 and D-dimer concentrations increase greatly in SAP patients. Highly elevated plasma sICAM-1 or D-dimer levels may help identify SAP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Adhesion molecules are involved in the inflammatory response during acute pancreatitis (AP). We investigated the effect of dexamethasone (Dx) on intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM-1) expression during AP and its consequences on leukocyte recruitment and pancreatic damage. METHODS Acute pancreatitis was induced in rats by 3.5% sodium taurocholate for 3 hours and 6 hours. Dexamethasone (1 mg/kg) was administered either 30 minutes before or 1 hour after inducing AP. Messenger RNA ICAM-1 expression in pancreas and lung, membrane-bound ICAM-1 in acinar cells, and ICAM-1 plasma levels were analyzed. Histological examination of the pancreas and neutrophil infiltration in pancreas and lung were also measured. RESULTS Prophylactic and therapeutic administration of Dx down-regulated ICAM-1 expression in pancreas and lung from early AP. Dexamethasone given before AP reduced the pancreatic damage, but lung inflammation was not prevented. Therapeutic Dx treatment was ineffective in avoiding leukocyte recruitment into the pancreas and lung in rats with AP. High ICAM-1 concentration was found in plasma during AP, which was not reduced by Dx treatments. CONCLUSIONS Dexamethasone down-regulates ICAM-1 expression, but it does not completely prevent leukocyte recruitment during sodium taurocholate-induced AP.

Abstract
Our knowledge of acute pancreatitis is still far from complete and there is no unanimous agreement concerning the pathophysiological processes leading to typical alterations during the course of acute pancreatitis. We reviewed the paper published in the last decade on the pathophysiology and treatment of acute pancreatitis. It is difficult to translate the experimental therapeutic results into clinical practice. For example, lexipafant was efficacious in decreasing the severity and mortality of lethal pancreatitis in rats, but seems to have no effect on severe acute pancreatitis in humans. Thus, the main problem in acute pancreatitis, especially in the severe form of the disease, is the difficulty of designing clinical studies capable of giving reliable statistically significant answers regarding the benefits of the various proposed therapeutic agents previously tested in experimental settings. Thus, analgesia, supportive care, and treatment of the pulmonary and renal complications remain the cornerstones of the treatment of acute pancreatitis, especially in the severe form of the disease.

Abstract
To observe the protective effects of Salvia miltiorrhizae injection on multiple organs of rats with SAP or OJ. Two hundred eighty-eight rats were used for SAP-associated experiments and OJ-associated experiments. The rats were randomly divided into sham-operated, model control and treated group. According to the different time points after operation, the SAP rats in each group were subdivided into 3, 6 and 12 h groups while the OJ rats were divided into 7, 14, 21 and 28 days groups. The mortality rates, pathological changes and ICAM-1 (only in lung), TLR4 (only in liver), Bax and NF-kappaB proteins expression in multiple organs (liver, kidney, lung, intestinal mucosa, spleen, thymus and lymph nodes) were observed, respectively. The mortality rates of treated groups decreased in both SAP and OJ experiments. Compared to model control group, the pathological changes can be seen in treated groups including; (1) the pathological changes of multiple organs in SAP and OJ experiments were improved, the pathological severity scores of kidney (at 6 h), intestinal mucosa (at 12 h), spleen (at 6 and 12 h), thymus (at 3 and 6 h) and lymph nodes (at 3 and 6 h) in SAP experiment and of liver (on 21 and 28 days), lung (21 days), intestinal mucosa (on 21 and 28 days) and spleen (on 21 and 28 days) in OJ experiment significantly declined (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01); (2) the positive rate of Bax protein in pancreas (at 3 h) and liver (on 6 and 12 h) in SAP experiment and in liver (on 28 days), kidney (on 21 days), and thymus (on 28 days) in OJ experiment were significantly lower (P < 0.05 or P < 0.01); (3) the positive rate of NF-kappaB in liver (at 12 h) and kidney (at 6 h) in SAP experiment and in liver (on 21 days), kidney (on 28 days), intestinal mucosa (on 28 days) and thymus (on 14 days) in OJ experiment significantly decreased (P < 0.05). (4) the positive rate of ICAM-1 in lungs (at 12 h) in SAP experiment was significantly less (P < 0.05). Salvia miltiorrhizae injection can protect multiple organs of SAP or OJ rats and inhibit the expression of ICAM-1, TLR4, NF-kappaB and regulate Bax proteins. Salvia miltiorrhizae may relieve the inflammation response and enhance the immunity function of SAP and OJ rats.
