Supersolid phases in a realistic three-dimensional spin model

Magnetic phase diagram of a 2-dimensional triangular lattice antiferromagnet Na2BaMn(PO4)2

We report the magnetic phase transitions of a spin-5/2, 2-dimensional triangular lattice antiferromagnet (AFM) Na₂BaMn(PO₄)₂. From specific heat measurements, we observe two magnetic transitions at temperatures 1.15 and 1.30 K at zero magnetic field. Detailed AC magnetic susceptibility measurements reveal multiple phases including the↑↑↓(up-up-down)-phase between 1.9 and 2.9 T at 47 mK when magnetic field is applied along thecaxis, implying that Na₂BaMn(PO₄)₂is a classical 2dTL Heisenberg AFM with easy-axis anisotropy. However, it deviates from an ideal model as evidenced by a hump region with hysteresis between the↑↑↓andV-phases and weak phase transitions. Our work provides another experimental example to study frustrated magnetism in 2dTL AFM which also serves as a reference to understand the possible quantum spin liquid behavior and anomalous phase diagrams observed in sibling systems Na₂BaM(PO₄)₂(M= Co, Ni).

Antiferromagnetic skyrmion crystals in the Rashba Hund's insulator on triangular lattice

Motivated by the importance of antiferromagnetic skyrmions as building blocks of next-generation data storage and processing devices, we report theoretical and computational analysis of a model for a spin-orbit coupled correlated Hund's insulator magnet on a triangular lattice. We find that two distinct antiferromagnetic skyrmion crystal (AF-SkX) states can be stabilized at low temperatures in the presence of external magnetic field. The results are obtained via Monte Carlo simulations on an effective magnetic model derived from the microscopic electronic Hamiltonian consisting of Rashba spin-orbit coupling, as well as strong Hund's coupling of electrons to classical spins at half-filling. The two AF-SkX phases are understood to originate from a classical spin liquid state that exists at low but finite temperatures. These AF-SkX states can be easily distinguished from each other in experiments as they are characterized by peaks at distinct momenta in the spin structure factor which is directly measured in neutron scattering experiments. We also discuss examples of materials where the model as well as the two AF-SkX states can be realized.

Frustration-induced insulating chiral spin state in itinerant triangular-lattice magnets

We study the double-exchange model at half-filling with competing superexchange interactions on a triangular lattice, combining exact diagonalization and Monte Carlo methods. We find that in between the expected itinerant ferromagnetic and 120° Yafet-Kittel phases a robust scalar-chiral, insulating spin state emerges. At finite temperatures the ferromagnet-scalar-chiral quantum critical point is characterized by anomalous bad-metal behavior in charge transport as observed in frustrated itinerant magnets R2Mo2O7.
