Abstract
Glycogen synthase kinase 3β (GSK-3β) is a widely investigated molecular target for numerous diseases including Alzheimer's disease, cancer, and diabetes mellitus. Inhibition of GSK-3β activity has become an attractive approach for treatment of diabetes and cancer. We report the discovery of novel GSK-3β inhibitors of 3-arylidene-2-oxindole scaffold with promising activity. The most potent compound 3a inhibits GSK-3β with IC50 4.19 nM. In a cell-based assay 3a shows no significant leucocyte toxicity at 10 µM and is moderately cytotoxic against A549 cells. Compound 3a demonstrated high antidiabetic efficacy in obese streptozotocin-treated rats improving glucose tolerance at a dose of 50 mg/kg body weight thus representing an interesting lead for further optimization.

Abstract
A series of 3-methylidene-1H-indol-2(3H)-ones substituted with a 5- or 6-pentafluorosulfanyl group has been synthesized by a Knoevenagel condensation reaction of SF5-substituted oxindoles with a range of aldehydes. The resulting products were characterized by X-ray crystallography studies and were tested for biological activity versus a panel of cell lines and protein kinases. Some exhibited single digit nM activity.

Abstract
The title compound, C13H13Cl2NO, has a 3-(propan-2-yl-idene)indolin-2-one core with a Cl atom and a chloro-ethyl substituent attached to the aromatic ring. Two atoms of the aromatic ring and the chloro-ethyl substituent atoms are disordered over two sets of sites with a refined occupancy ratio of 0.826 (3):0.174 (3). In the crystal, mol-ecules are linked by pairs of N-H⋯O hydrogen bonds, forming inversion dimers with an R 2 (2)(8) ring motif.

Abstract
The title molecule, C21H15NO, has an indoline-2-one and two benzene substituent groups which are arranged in a propeller-like fashion around the central C atom. The dihedral angle between the two benzene rings is 73.32 (16)° and those between the benzene rings and the indoline-2-one group are 76.54 (14) and 67.69 (14)°. In the crystal, there is an intermolecular N—H⋯O hydrogen-bonding interaction, which links the molecules into chains extending along c.

Abstract
Indolin-2-one (oxindole), (I), undergoes a Knoevenagel condensation with ferrocene-1,1'-dicarbaldehyde, (II), to afford the title complex 3,3'-[(E,E)-ferrocene-1,1'-diyldimethylidyne]diindolin-2-one dichloromethane disolvate, [Fe(C(28)H(20)N(2)O(2))]·2CH(2)Cl(2), (IV). The structure of (IV) contains two ferrocene complex molecules in the asymmetric unit and displays, as expected, intermolecular hydrogen bonding (N-H···O=C) between the indolin-2-one units. Intermolecular π-π stacking interactions are also observed.
