Abstract
CONTEXT Socioeconomically disadvantaged adults have lower engagement in leisure-time physical activity than those who are more affluent. Identification of correlates of physical activity can inform the design of effective interventions. The aim of this systematic review was to identify consistent correlates of unspecified physical activity and leisure-time physical activity among socioeconomically disadvantaged adults. EVIDENCE ACQUISITION PubMed and Scopus were searched up to May 2018, and titles/abstracts and full texts were screened against eligibility criteria. Methodologic quality was assessed, and correlates were synthesized from July to September 2018. EVIDENCE SYNTHESIS Seventy-three studies were selected for synthesis; 48 examined unspecified physical activity and 31 examined leisure-time physical activity (6 examined both). Self-rated health, functional capacity, and physical activity self-efficacy were consistently, positively associated with unspecified physical activity. Mental health status and perceived benefits and enjoyment of physical activity were consistently, positively associated with leisure-time physical activity. Most studies were cross-sectional and used validated self-report measures of physical activity; few reported response rates >50%. CONCLUSIONS Few factors were consistently associated with either unspecified physical activity or leisure-time physical activity. Based on available evidence, strategies to increase physical activity should consider the needs of, and focus on, those with poor self-rated health and functional capacity and should use strategies to improve physical activity self-efficacy. Strategies to increase leisure-time physical activity should focus on simultaneously addressing leisure-time physical activity and mental health concerns and improving perceptions of physical activity benefits and enjoyment. It is recommended that future studies focus on leisure-time physical activity, focus on men, use longitudinal design, examine variables related to behavioral attributes and skills, and carefully consider and plan recruitment strategies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Medically underserved areas are composed of vulnerable populations with reduced access to ambulatory care services. Our goal was to determine the association between residence in a medically underserved area and severe sepsis incidence and mortality. METHODS Using administrative data, we identified adults admitted with severe sepsis to nonfederal hospitals in South Carolina. We determined whether each resident lived in a medically underserved area or nonmedically underserved area from US Census and Department of Health and Human Services data. Age-adjusted severe sepsis incidence and mortality rates were calculated and compared between both residential classifications. Multivariate logistic regression measured the association between residence in a medically underserved area and mortality while adjusting for confounders. RESULTS In 2010, 24,395 adults were admitted with severe sepsis and 1,446,987 (43%) adults lived in a medically underserved area. Residents of medically underserved areas were admitted more frequently with severe sepsis (8.6 vs 6.8 cases/1,000 people, P < .01) and were more likely to die (15.5 vs 11.9 deaths/10,000 people, P < .01), with increased odds of severe sepsis-related death (OR, 1.12) after adjustment for age, race, and severity of illness. ZIP code-based surrogates of socioeconomic status, including median income, proportion below poverty level, and educational attainment, however, had minimal association with sepsis mortality. CONCLUSIONS Residence in a medically underserved area is associated with higher incidence and mortality rates of severe sepsis and represents a novel method of access-to-care adjustment. Traditional access-to-care surrogates, however, are poorly associated with sepsis mortality.

Abstract
This qualitative study described the lived experience of dancing as it related to depression and social isolation in 16 disadvantaged adults who completed a 12-week dance intervention. It is the first qualitative study to explore the experience of dance as an adjunct therapy, depression, and social isolation. A descriptive phenomenological framework consisted of two focus groups using semi-structured interviews. A Giorgian approach guided thematic analysis. Four themes emerged: (1) dance for myself and health, (2) social acceptance, (3) connection with others: a group, and (4) not wanting to stop: unexpected benefits from dancing. As the participants continued to dance, they developed a sense of belonging and group identity, which may have maintained group involvement and contributed to reducing depression and social isolation. Thus, dancing is a complementary therapy that should be considered when working with adults with depression and social isolation.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to investigate whether self-rated health status (SRH) and subjective health complaints (SHC) of urban Chinese women are associated with their health-promoting lifestyles (HPL). Methods We conducted a cross-sectional study on 8142 eligible Chinese participants between 2012 and 2013. Demographic and SHC data were collected. Each subject completed the SRH questionnaire and the Chinese version of the Health-Promoting Lifestyle Profile-II (HPLP-II). Correlation and binary regression analyses were performed to examine the associations of SRH and SHC with HPL. Results Both SRH and HPL of urban Chinese women were moderate. The most common complaints were fatigue (1972, 24.2%), eye discomfort (1571, 19.3%), and insomnia (1542, 18.9%). Teachers, highly educated subjects and elderly women had lower SRH scores, while college students and married women had better HPL. All items of HPLP-II were positively correlated with SRH (r = 0.127-0.533, P = 0.000) and negatively correlated with SHC to a significant extent (odds ratio [OR] = 1.40-11.37). Conclusions Aspects of HPL, particularly stress management and spiritual growth, are associated with higher SRH and lower SHC ratings among urban Chinese women. Physical activity and health responsibility are additionally related to reduced fatigue and nervousness. We believe that these findings will be instrumental in encouraging researchers and urban women to adopt better health-promoting lifestyles with different priorities in their daily lives.
