Abstract
PURPOSE Early Mobilization (EM) in Pediatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) is safe, feasible and improves outcomes for PICU patients, yet patient safety concerns persist among nurses which limits EM adoption. The purpose of this study was to explore how nurses incorporate EM into practice and balance their concerns for patient safety with the benefits of EM. DESIGN & METHODS This focused ethnographic study included 15 in-depth interviews with 10 PICU nurses. Data were analyzed using thematic analysis. RESULTS Two major categories were found which describe the clinical judgement and decision-making of PICU nurses regarding EM. The nurses' concerns for patient safety was the first major category. This included patient-level factors: hemodynamic stability, devices attached, patient's strength, and risk for falls and size. In the second major category, these safety concerns were overcome by applying a multiple step process which resulted in nurses performing EM despite their concerns. That process included: gaining comfort through experience, performing patient safety checks, working with therapists, learning from adverse events, and understanding existing evidence about the benefits of EM. CONCLUSIONS The overarching theme was nurses' determination to preserve patient safety while ensuring patients could receive the benefits of EM. This theme describes the decisions, behaviors and processes that nurses enact to become more comfortable with EM despite their concerns for patient safety and potential adverse events while performing mobility activities. PRACTICE IMPLICATIONS Creating opportunities for nurses to participate in EM may increase their willingness to overcome safety concerns and engage in these activities.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Workplace violence is prevalent in the nursing profession, and as a relatively junior link of the professional hierarchy, nursing students are not immune to it. Among these, verbal violence may have more serious consequences for the victims than physical violence, but the literature on verbal violence among nursing students in Chinese clinical settings is limited. AIMS To explore the verbal violence experience among Chinese nursing students in clinical practice, and the strategies used by nursing students to cope with violence. DESIGN A descriptive qualitative study. METHODS From January 2022 to June 2022, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 21 nursing students in clinical practice by purposive snowball sampling. Nvivo12 software and inductive content analysis were used for data analysis. This paper followed the COREQ (Consolidated criteria for Reporting Qualitative Research) guidance. RESULTS Through data analysis, three themes were defined:(1) Multiform verbal violence; (2) Hurting and impacting and (3) Struggling or Coping. The findings indicated that nursing students were subjected to multiple forms of verbal violence in clinical practice, not only from patients and caregivers, but also from peers such as clinical tutors and doctors, which not only harmed students' personal health and well-being, but may also contribute to the nursing industry's future loss of human resources. Seeking emotional support from others and forcing themselves to grow up were the most commonly used coping strategies. CONCLUSION Nursing educators and nursing managers need to pay attention to verbal violence in the clinical environment, and actively develop the ability of nursing students to deal with uncivilized behavior. Establishing relevant courses and training such as communication, resilience, and violence prevention, establishing a stricter clinical mentor appointment system, and teaching assessment system may be strategies to help nursing students better perform clinical practice.

Abstract
Smart community enables a sustainable and livable community future, in which residents' demands play an important role in its success. Though great efforts have been made to encourage residents' participation in the implementation of smart communities, inefficient service supply still exists. Thus, this study aimed to classify residents' demands for community services in smart communities and to explore relevant influencing factors based on the developed conceptual framework. Data from 221 respondents in Xuzhou city of China were analyzed by using binary logistic regression. The results indicated that more than 70% of respondents had demands for all community services in smart communities. Moreover, the demands were influenced by distinct factors, including sociodemographic characteristics, living characteristics, economic characteristics, and individual attitude characteristics. The types of community services in smart communities are clarified and fresh insights are provided into associated factors related to residents' demands for these services in this study, through which enhanced provision of community services and effective implementation of smart communities can be achieved.

Abstract
BACKGROUND It is very important to provide effective nursing programs to regulate the physical and mental state of patients and to improve treatment compliance after interventional surgery for coronary heart disease (CHD).
AIM To explore the effect of a nursing intervention based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory on patients with CHD undergoing percutaneous coronary intervention.
METHODS Ninety-four patients with CHD undergoing interventional surgery in our hospital from January 2020 to February 2021 were randomly divided into a research group (n = 47) and a control group (n = 47). The control group received routine nursing, and the research group received a nursing intervention based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory. The scores of self-efficacy, negative emotion [depression (SDS), anxiety (SAS)], intervention compliance (standardized medication, moderate exercise, healthy diet, and regular review), and nursing satisfaction were calculated before and after intervention for the two groups.
RESULTS Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the scores of disease general management self-efficacy, disease management self-efficacy, and total self-efficacy between the two groups (P = 0.795, 0.479, and 0.659, respectively). After intervention, these three scores in the research group were higher than those in the control group (P < 0.001). Before intervention, there was no significant difference in the scores of SAS and SDS between the two groups (P = 0.149 and 0.347, respectively). After intervention, the scores of SAS and SDS in the research group were lower than those in the control group (P < 0.001). The standardized drug use rate (97.87%), moderate exercise rate (97.87%), healthy diet rate (95.74%), and regular reexamination rate (97.87%) in the research group were higher than those in the control group (85.11%, 82.98%, 80.85%, and 87.23%, respectively) (P = 0.027, 0.014, 0.025, and 0.049, respectively). Nursing job satisfaction in the research group (93.62%) was higher than that in the control group (78.72%) (P = 0.036).
CONCLUSION A nursing program based on Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory can effectively alleviate negative emotion, enhance self-efficacy and intervention compliance, and ensure that the patients are highly satisfied with the nursing work.

Abstract
RATIONALE, AIMS, AND OBJECTIVES A needs assessment tool considering the cultural background of mainland China has not been reported. This study developed a Needs Self-rating Questionnaire for Breast Cancer (NSQ-BC) based on Maslow's hierarchy of needs for mainland Chinese patients. METHODS The Delphi technique and pilot cross-sectional surveys (two rounds) were performed for item selection. In the Delphi technique, items were selected according to the experts' perspective on the item's significance (ie, 1-5 Likert-scale ratings of importance; mean > 4.0 and coefficients of variation <0.25). In the pilot cross-sectional surveys, items were selected according to internal consistency reliability (Cronbach's α ≥ 0.70), discriminant validity (stronger correlations of the item with the hypothesized subscale than for other subscales), and convergent validity (hypothesized item-subscale correlations ≥0.40). All decisions were made based on the results of statistical analyses, recommendations of the experts, and in-depth discussion among research team members. RESULTS Following the two evaluation rounds, the revised NSQ-BC comprised 26 items across five subscales of needs: physical, psychological, respect/self-esteem, information, and rehabilitation. Item ratings from the expert panellists met the aforementioned criteria (ie, Kendall's W = 0.329, P < 0.001). Except for the "respect/self-esteem needs" subscale, Cronbach's α for all subscales exceeded 0.70. All items had acceptable discriminant and convergent validity. Additionally, two new items-good environment/facilities and economic support-were added to the NSQ-BC, as recommended by the experts. CONCLUSIONS The NSQ-BC was developed fully via the comprehensive use of Delphi technique and pilot cross-sectional surveys. It provides evidence of a proper instrument for needs assessment and evaluation among women with breast cancer in mainland China.
