Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To investigate evidence-based practices and examine the influence of individual and social system factors on evidence-based practices among nurses in general hospitals. BACKGROUND Evidence-based practice is essential for improving healthcare quality. However, a challenge for nursing worldwide is nurses' limited use of evidence-based practices. It is crucial to determine the individual and social system factors affecting nurses' use of evidence-based practices. DESIGN This study employs a multi-institutional cross-sectional design. METHODS With a multistage random sampling method, 336 registered nurses were recruited from 17 general hospitals in the Republic of the Union of Myanmar. Data were collected through a seven-part questionnaire, including the Evidence-Based Practice Implementation Scale and individual and social system factors. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression. RESULTS Nurses in general hospitals perceived low levels of evidence-based practices. Individual factors, such as perceived barriers (p < .001), knowledge (p < .001) and attitudes (p = .001), were related to EBP as well as social system factors, including the work environment (p < .001) which influence nurses' practice, explaining 34% variance among nurses. CONCLUSION Nurses perceived the work environment as the most influencing factor related to evidence-based practices. Individual characteristics, including perceived knowledge, attitudes and barriers, were critical factors in performing evidence-based practices in Myanmar. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE Nurse administrators and policymakers can develop strategies and interventions for improving knowledge, attitudes and work environment towards evidence-based practice. Minimizing the barriers to evidence-based practice will promote evidence-based practices in Myanmar general hospitals. IMPACT In addressing the individual and social system factors influencing the evidence-based practices of nurses, this study contributes to enhancing healthcare quality and outcomes. Abstract
AIMS To evaluate the evidence-based practice (EBP) competency levels of clinical instructors and their role in promoting a safety climate for nursing students. BACKGROUND Establishing a safety climate in nursing education is vital, particularly during clinical training. However, the contributions of clinical instructors to this environment remain underexplored. DESIGN Cross-sectional study using a self-reported questionnaire. METHODS The study involved 146 licensed clinical instructors with at least one year of experience. Participants were recruited via social media and personal outreach. Data included sociodemographic and occupational characteristics, EBP competency levels, perceptions of workplace safety and contributions to the safety climate for nursing students. Statistical analyses used Pearson correlations and hierarchical linear regression. RESULTS Clinical instructors who were married or partnered (β = 0.180; p = 0.012), worked in central regions (β = 0.161; p = 0.014), held managerial roles (β = 0.206; p = 0.004), had high EBP knowledge and skills (β = 0.182; p = 0.012) and reported positive workplace safety perceptions (β = 0.565; p < 0.001) significantly contributed to improving the safety climate for nursing students. The model was statistically significant, explaining 56.8 % of the variance in safety climate enhancement (Adjusted R² = 54.0 %). CONCLUSION Clinical instructors play a crucial role in fostering a safety climate for nursing students, with factors such as EBP competency, workplace perceptions and managerial responsibilities influencing their contributions. These findings highlight the need for targeted interventions that enhance clinical instructors' skills and promote a supportive and safety-focused culture in clinical education.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In Egypt, approximately 10% of preterm deliveries occur between 32 and fewer than 37 weeks, leading to high neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) admissions. Preterm infants often face oral feeding difficulties due to immature development, which can lead to extended hospital stays and increased health risks. AIM To assess neonatal nurses' performance in terms of the transition to oral feeding in preterm infants, focusing on knowledge, practices, and attitudes. METHODS A descriptive, quantitative, multicenter, cross-sectional study was conducted across 16 hospitals in five governorates in Egypt from November 2023 to March 2024 involving 553 neonatal nurses. The data were collected through a self-administered questionnaire assessing knowledge and attitudes and through an observed checklist for nurses' practices. The study used statistical methods, including binary logistic regression, to analyze the data. RESULTS The findings revealed significant knowledge gaps among nurses, particularly in terms of oro-motor function, suck-swallow-breathe patterns, and nonnutritive sucking. A total of 64.6% of the nurses had unsatisfactory knowledge, 58.6% had unsatisfactory practices, and 45% had a negative attitude toward the oral feeding transition. Key predictors of satisfactory practices included higher education levels, full-time employment, and positive attitudes. CONCLUSION This study highlights critical gaps in neonatal nurses' knowledge and practices regarding the transition to oral feeding in preterm infants. Addressing these gaps through targeted educational interventions and ongoing support is essential for improving care quality and outcomes for infants. The findings revealed that a substantial proportion of nurses lacked adequate knowledge of critical areas, such as oro-motor function, the suck-swallow-breathe pattern, and nonnutritive sucking. These knowledge deficits could hinder the ability of nurses to provide optimal care during this crucial transition.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This study aims to determine the internal and external factors affecting the attitudes of neonatal intensive care nurses toward evidence-based practices (EBP). METHODS The population of this descriptive, cross-sectional, and relation-seeking multicenter study consisted of nurses working in 5 neonatal intensive care units located in 3 provinces of Türkiye. Data were collected using the Information Form, which included nurses' sociodemographic information and internal-external factors affecting evidence-based care practices, the Evidence-Based Nursing Attitude Questionnaire (EBNAQ). RESULTS It was found that sociodemographic characteristics of nurses impacted the EBNAQ score. Of the internal factors, knowledge of EBP, having a sufficient foreign language level to follow EBP, self-efficacy in the process of seeking, finding, evaluating, and applying evidence, belief in the necessity of using EBP in nursing care, belief that cultural differences affect EBP, and belief that EBP negatively affect individualized care affected the EBNAQ score. In terms of external factors, the competence of the study team in searching evidence, the employment institution supporting the team in the use of EBP, and using clinical guidelines in neonatal care impacted the EBNAQ score. CONCLUSION It was concluded that neonatal nurses' attitudes toward evidence-based nursing are at a moderate level and are affected by internal and external factors.

Abstract
WHAT IS KNOWN ON THE SUBJECT Workplace violence is a significant challenge in psychiatric hospital care. Some existing practices of violence risk assessment and management are based on nurses' intuition and clinical experience instead of structured tools. WHAT THE PAPER ADDS TO EXISTING KNOWLEDGE Nurses and nurse managers consider violence risk assessment and management their responsibility. Still, nurses and nurse managers have mixed attitudes towards the use of validated risk assessment tools. The attitudes towards service users' positive risk-taking in nurses and nurse managers vary, with some nurses and nurse managers supporting its importance. WHAT ARE THE IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Change in nurses' and nurse managers' attitudes towards risk assessment tools is required before their implementation into practice. More profound change in practices towards recovery-oriented care is required also in risk assessment. ABSTRACT INTRODUCTION: Workplace violence is a prevalent issue in psychiatric inpatient care. Prevention efforts require the identification of at-risk service users using validated violence risk assessment tools. The shift in violence prevention emphasises preventive measures and collaborative risk assessment together with service users. Nurses have a central role in this process. Therefore, their attitudes are crucial when implementing evidence-based methods. AIM To assess the attitudes of nurses and nurse managers towards violence risk assessment and management. METHOD A cross-sectional online survey in Finnish psychiatric inpatient care. Data analysis was conducted with statistical methods. The STROBE guideline was used in reporting. RESULTS Nurses (n = 142) valued risk assessment and felt that it was their responsibility. Attitudes towards service users' risk-taking as part of their recovery varied. Nurses had mixed attitudes regarding the effectiveness of risk assessment tools. Older participants and nurse managers had more positive attitudes towards risk assessment tools. DISCUSSION The study findings highlight a feeling of responsibility of nurses towards violence risk assessment and at the same time their preference towards their own clinical judgement. IMPLICATIONS FOR PRACTICE Understanding nurses' attitudes is crucial in training and implementation processes to address concerns, provide support and enhance positive attitudes.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence-based practice (EBP) lowers costs, guarantees staying current with new technology and abilities, and enables the provision of high-quality care. Evidence-based practice (EBP) considered the foundation for safe patient care. AIM is to validate and carry out the linguistic-cultural adaptation of the S-EBPQ for the Arabic language. DESIGN A methodological study design was used. METHOD There were two primary stages: translation and validation. Three experts reviewed the contents during the translation and validation in order to ensure their relevancy. 15 nursing students conducted face validation to confirm the produced items' clarity and understandability. Reliability assessment was achieved by conducting a pilot study on 72 nursing students. Ethical approval was taken. For statistical analysis, SPSS software was used. The internal reliability of the questionnaire was evaluated using Cronbach's Alpha. The Pearson Correlation was used to test the relationship between the student's score on the questionnaire and their age and gender. RESULTS The Scale-Content Validity Index was 0.90; Cronbach's Alpha value was 0.963. Students in face validation phase confirmed that wording, clarity, and understandable language of the items were achieved. The Mean of students total score was 80.2 (SD = 21.5). Pearson test revealed that there was a weak positive correlation between students' scores and age R = 0.320 (p = 0.001). Also, it demonstrated that there was no correlation between the students' scores and the gender R =-0,028 (p = 0.817). CONCLUSION The Arabic version of the S-EBPQ generally had a solid structure and it demonstrated high validity and reliability. The questionnaire could be used in future studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Scientific literature is presented in complex language, most frequently in English, and includes technical jargon that represents a challenge to comprehension of an English as a foreign language (EFL) nursing student. Yet scientific literature is a powerful and trustworthy source of evidence to guide nursing practice. PURPOSE The aim is to examine two reading interventions (Translation vs Synthesization) and to determine which one produces long-term sustainability effects in scientific research reading comprehension. METHOD A two-group posttest-only randomized comparative design was used in which 120 participants were randomly assigned to two groups. Several instruments were used to collect the data. RESULTS Study findings showed that the synthesization group significantly produced better results when compared with the translation group on both the immediate (p = 0.01) and the delayed (p = 0.013) reading comprehension tests. It shows also that gender differences have a significant impact on reading comprehension with a favor to males in the long-term reading comprehension outcome (p = 0.038) of synthesization and females in the short-term reading comprehension outcome (p = 0.015) of translation. English proficiency was significant with determination, metacognitive, and social skills in the synthesization group (p = 0.00, p = 0.01, p = 0.007 respectively). CONCLUSION The results suggested that synthesization could be an effective reading approach in improving EFL nursing students' reading comprehension of scientific literature.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to explore 1) factors that influenced the evidence-based practice competencies and behaviors of clinical nurses and 2) the interaction between the organizational evidence-based practice culture, head nurses' implementation leadership, and nurses' evidence-based practice competencies and behaviors. BACKGROUND The significance of organizational evidence-based practice culture and head nurses' implementation leadership in enhancing nurses' evidence-based practice competencies and behavior is widely recognized in healthcare settings. However, there is limited knowledge of how these factors influence nurses' evidence-based practice competencies and behavior. METHODS A cross-sectional survey was conducted at 10 hospitals in China. Data were collected via online questionnaires from October to December 2020, utilizing social characteristic questionnaires, the Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire, the Organizational Culture and Readiness Scale for System-wide Implementation of Evidence-Based Practice, and the Implementation Leadership Scale. All data were imported into the IBM Statistical Program for the Social Sciences (SPSS) 27.0 and PROCESS version 4.1 macro on SPSS for statistical analysis. The design and reporting of our study adhered to the Strengthening the Reporting of Observational Studies in Epidemiology (STROBE) Checklist. RESULTS We received 1047 (99.15%) valid questionnaires. The multiple linear regression analysis showed that significant factors were organizational evidence-based practice culture, implementation leadership, and years of experience in nursing. After controlling for the impact of the covariate (years of experience in nursing), it was found that organizational evidence-based practice culture partially mediated the relationship between head nurses' implementation leadership and nurses' evidence-based practice competencies and behaviors. Additionally, head nurses' implementation leadership partially mediated the relationship between organizational evidence-based practice culture and nurses' evidence-based practice competencies and behaviors. CONCLUSION Organizational evidence-based practice culture, head nurses' implementation leadership, and years of experience in nursing significantly predict nurses' evidence-based practice competencies and behaviors. Organizational evidence-based practice culture and head nurses' implementation leadership mutually mediated their influence on nurses' implementation of evidence-based practice. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING AND POLICY Head nurses should proactively seek opportunities to enhance their implementation leadership, such as participating in training programs (e.g., mentoring and coaching programs) and attending conferences, workshops, or seminars on implementation leadership. Policymakers should also consider providing more policy support for implementing leadership development and cultivating a positive evidence-based practice culture.

Abstract
BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVES Despite the robustness of evidence-based practice in increasing efficiency in nursing care and improving patient safety, using evidence in practice is still rare in mental health nursing. This correlational descriptive research aimed to explore the factors and examine the relationship between attitudes, knowledge/skills, organizational culture, mentorship, and demographic factors to evidence-based practices among mental health nurses working in psychiatric hospitals in Thailand. METHODS The sample consisted of 255 nurses working in psychiatric hospitals under the Thai Department of Mental Health, located in service units across the country's four regions. The data collection tools included (1) a demographic questionnaire, (2) the Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire: EBPQ, (3) Organizational Culture & Readiness for System-wide Integration of Evidence-Based Practice: OCRSIEP, and (4) the Evidence-Based Practice Mentorship Scale. Descriptive statistics and Spearman's correlation coefficient were used for data analysis. RESULTS The findings revealed that the factors positively correlated with evidence-based practice among mental health nurses in Thailand were attitude with a mean score of 4.90 (r = 0.39, p-value < 0.001), knowledge/skills with a mean score of 4.69 (r = 0.61, p-value < 0.001), organizational culture with a mean score of 3.94 (r = 0.26, p-value < 0.001), and mentorship with a mean score of 2.77 (r = 0.16, p-value = 0.011). Demographic factors such as educational level (r = 0.21, p-value < 0.001) and work experience in psychiatric and mental health nursing (r = 0.14, p-value = 0.031) were also positively correlated. CONCLUSIONS This research revealed that EBP knowledge and skills are the most significant factors related to evidence-based practice among Thai mental health nurses. Therefore, EBP knowledge and skills should be enhanced in the curriculum during the nursing study and through continuing education once nurses graduate. Organizational culture and mentorship also need to be promoted to strengthen the use of EBP in Thailand.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Over the past three decades, research studies on nurses' engagement in evidence-based practice (EBP) have been widely reported, particularly in high-income countries, with studies from these countries dominating literature reviews. As low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) continue to join the EBP movement, primary research has emerged over the past decade about nurses' engagement with EBP. AIMS The aim of this scoping review was to identify the types and extent of published research regarding nurses' knowledge, skills, attitudes, beliefs, and implementation of EBP in LMICs. METHODS The JBI scoping review methodology was used. Eight databases were searched up to November 2023. The review included primary studies (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods) that reported the knowledge, skills, attitudes, beliefs, or implementation of EBP among nurses in LMICs. Included studies focused on registered nurses in all healthcare settings within LMICs. Studies published in English were included with no limit on publication date. Two independent reviewers screened titles, abstracts, and full-text articles of published studies. Data were analyzed quantitatively using frequencies and counts. Textual data from qualitative studies were analyzed using descriptive content analysis. RESULTS Fifty-three publications were included, involving 20 LMICs. Studies were published between 2007 and 2023, with over 60% published in the past 7 years. Studies that evaluated familiarity/awareness of EBP showed that in general, nurses had low familiarity with or awareness of EBP. Most studies (60%) described nurses' attitudes toward EBP as positive, favorable, or high, and 31% as moderate. However, over 60% of studies described nurses' EBP knowledge/skills as moderate, low, or insufficient. Approximately 84% of studies described EBP implementation in healthcare settings as moderate, low, poor, or suboptimal. LINKING EVIDENCE TO ACTION Studies on nursing EBP have been increasing in LMICs for the past two decades, with findings highlighting opportunities for advancing EBP in nursing within LMICs. Health systems and healthcare organization leaders in LMICs should equip nurses with EBP knowledge and skills while providing the needed resources and support to ensure consistent implementation of EBP to improve health outcomes.

Abstract
AIM To develop an evidence-based nursing practice course framework for undergraduate nursing students from a perspective of academic-practice partnerships. BACKGROUND Academic-practice partnerships could play a crucial role in bridging theory-practice gap in evidence-based nursing education. However, there is a lack of evidence-based nursing practice course framework for undergraduate nursing students from a perspective of academic-practice partnerships. DESIGN A Delphi study. METHODS The Delphi study was conducted by literature analysis, qualitative interview and Delphi expert consultation to develop this course framework. 15 and 12 experts were involved in round one and round two of Delphi expert consultation, respectively. The consensus threshold of two-round Delphi expert consultation was described by expert's positive coefficient (≥ 50 %), positive coefficient (≥ 70 %), expert authority coefficient (≥ 0.7), coefficient of variation (<0.25) and full score frequency (>20 %). RESULTS The final course framework includes learning objectives (17 items); teaching chapters of theoretical classes (five items); teaching contents (30 items), methods (12 items) and class hours (9 items) of theoretical classes; and the responsibilities of academic teachers (11 items) and clinical teachers (11 items) in practical classes. CONCLUSION The course framework developed by this study could provide guidance for evidence-based nursing education of undergraduate nursing students. The effectiveness of this course framework should be verified through further experimental studies in the future.

Abstract
In the UK, student nurses, nursing associates and midwives are supervised by practice supervisors and practice assessors while completing the placement-based component of their training. Because of increased clinical commitments, staff shortages and rising student numbers, demands for the supervision and assessment of student nurses have increased in recent years and this was exacerbated by COVID-19. The Nursing and Midwifery Council's Standards for Student Supervision and Assessment separated the roles of practice supervisor and assessor, giving rise to opportunities to assess students in a different way. Some integrated care systems are exploring the new role of roaming assessor. Roaming assessors can fulfil the role of practice assessors while providing additional support for student nurses. This role could be expanded to other health professions. This article explores the use of practice learning facilitators as roaming assessors for student nurses in the UK and evaluates the potential benefits and limitations of this approach. Roaming assessors may provide a useful service to deliver practice assessments, increasing the reliability and availability of assessments.

Abstract
AIM To explore nurses' perceptions of evidence-based nursing courses for undergraduates through academic-practice partnerships. DESIGN A deductive thematic analysis based on the practice-academic logic model. METHODS Fifteen academic and clinical nurses were interviewed between November and December 2023, either online or through face-to-face meetings. Each interview lasted 20-30 min. The interview outline was constructed based on the practice-academic partnership logic model, which was followed during the process of recorded, analyzed, and checked. RESULTS Themes identified include inputs (e.g., stakeholder commitment), activities (e.g., communication), outputs (e.g., nursing projects), and outcomes (e.g., improved competence). These themes highlight the various aspects and outcomes of academic-practice partnerships in evidence-based nursing courses. CONCLUSION Effective academic-practice partnerships are crucial for developing evidence-based nursing courses, leading to positive educational and professional outcomes. IMPACT Nurses' perceptions provide valuable guidelines for developing effective evidence-based nursing courses. PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION No patient or public users participated in this study.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Liver transplant recipients are at a high risk of infection during the first month. Therefore, it is crucial to implement isolation measures correctly to prevent the spread of nosocomial infections. Evidence-based practices and proper implementation of isolation measures can significantly reduce morbidity and mortality. The study aimed to investigate the impact of nurses' attitudes towards evidence-based nursing on their compliance with isolation measures. METHODS This is a descriptive study conducted between October 2023 and January 2024, with the participation of 137 nurses working in the organ transplant clinics of a university hospital in Turkey. Data was collected using a participant introduction form, the attitudes towards evidence-based nursing scale, and the compliance with isolation measures scale. RESULTS The mean total score for the scale of attitudes towards evidence-based nursing among nurses was 55.95 ± 10.43 (15-75). Similarly, the mean total score for the scale of compliance with isolation measures was 71.44 ± 13.53 (18-90). Both scores were above the middle level. The study found a moderately significant positive correlation between attitudes towards evidence-based nursing and compliance with isolation measures (r: 0.670, p: 0.000). The regression model showed that the attitude towards evidence-based nursing explained 44.9% of the positivity towards isolation measures (R2 = 0.449). CONCLUSIONS The study found a positive correlation between nurses' positive attitudes towards evidence-based nursing and their compliance with isolation precautions when caring for liver transplant patients. This highlights the significance of evidence-based nursing in patient care and the importance of adhering to isolation measures to prevent nosocomial infections.

Abstract
Background: While evidence-based practice has demonstrated its capacity to enhance healthcare quality and bolster clinical outcomes, the translation of research into clinical practice encounters persistent challenges. In Ethiopia, there remains a dearth of comprehensive and nationally representative data concerning the extent of Evidence-based practice adoption among nurses. Thus, this systematic review and meta-analysis endeavors to assess the overall prevalence of Evidence-based practice implementation and delve into its determinants among Ethiopian nurses. Methods: A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted following the PRISMA guidelines. In order to identify pertinent studies, a search was conducted across PubMed, Scopus, Google Scholar, and EMBASE databases. A weighted inverse variance random-effects model was employed to estimate the pooled prevalence. Cochrane's Q-test and I2 statistics were calculated to assess heterogeneity among studies. Funnel plots and Egger's test were utilized to evaluate publication bias. Pooled implementation rates and meta-regression analysis were carried out using STATA 17. Results: Of the total 1,590 retrieved articles, twelve studies including 4,933 nurses were included in the final analysis. The pooled prevalence of Evidence-based practice uptake among nurses in Ethiopia is 53% (95% CI: 46%-60%). Having knowledge about Evidence-based practice (AOR = 2.29; 95% CI: 1.90, 2.69; I2 = 70.95%), holding a favorable attitude towards Evidence-based practice (AOR = 2.56; 95% CI: 1.63, 3.49; I2 = 88.39%), occupying a head nurse position (AOR = 3.15; 95% CI: 1.85, 4.46; I2 = 87.42%), possessing effective communication skills (AOR = 4.99; 95% CI: 1.47, 8.51; I2 = 99.86%), and having access to Evidence-based practice guidelines (AOR = 1.90; 95% CI: 1.55, 2.24; I2 = 57.24%) were identified as predictors of the uptake of Evidence-based practice. Conclusion: Only half of Ethiopia's nurses exhibit a strong embrace of Evidence-Based Practice within clinical settings, underscoring the urgent necessity for coordinated endeavors to cultivate this essential practice. Possessing knowledge, effective communication skills, access to updated guidelines, maintaining a positive attitude towards Evidence-Based Practice, and holding a position as head nurse emerged as predictors of successful implementation of Evidence-Based Practice. Hence, policymakers must prioritize capacity-building initiatives, disseminate the latest EBP guidelines widely, and strengthen mentorship roles for head nurses. Abstract
AIM/OBJECTIVE This study aims to carry out a meta-analysis of attitudes, knowledge, and skills level of nursing students and nurses in EBP, providing a reference for optimizing EBP education strategies. BACKGROUND At present, no meta-analysis has been performed to quantitatively synthesize the attitudes, knowledge and skill levels of nursing students and nurses toward EBP. This makes it difficult to precisely identify the true level of EBP among nurses, implying that there is no evidence to support the adoption of EBP teaching strategies approaches. DESIGN A total of 9 Chinese and English databases including CNKI, Wan fang, VIP, CBM, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane Library and CINAHL were used to search cross-sectional quantitative articles on EBP attitudes, knowledge and skills level of nurses and nursing students. The search time limit was from the inception of the database to September 2023. METHODS Two researchers independently screened the literature and extracted the data. The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) was used to assess the quality of the included studies. Stata15.0 software was used for statistical analysis to summarize the scores of EBP attitude, knowledge and skills level of nursing students and nurses included in the study. RESULTS A total of 25 cross-sectional studies from 13 countries were included, involving 11363 nursing students and nurses. The meta-analysis results revealed that nursing students and nurses lacked evidence-based practical knowledge and skills, with pooled mean scores of 3.06 (95 % CI: 2.72, 3.39), 2.91 (95 % CI: 2.60, 3.22), 4.31 (95 % CI: 4.08, 4.54) and 4.45 (95 % CI: 4.20, 4.70). In contrast, nursing students and nurses revealed a positive attitude towards EBP, with pooled mean scores of 3.57 (95 % CI: 3.28, 3.86) and 5.11 (95 % CI: 4.80, 5.42). Subgroup analysis revealed that senior nursing students and nurses with master's degree or above had higher attitudes, knowledge and skills. CONCLUSIONS In summary, nursing students and nurses have a positive attitude towards EBP. However, they seem to lack the necessary knowledge and skills. Therefore, nursing educators should consider this as an opportunity to strengthen the teaching of their evidence-based practical knowledge and skills. This will lay a reference for developing nursing discipline.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Escalating global nursing shortages require solutions for efficient care, fewer injuries and lost workdays. When commercial solutions are lacking, innovations developed through co-creation can be a viable alternative. However, many co-created nursing innovations are ineffectively implemented. Understanding the barriers and facilitators for the successful implementation of co-created nursing innovations is crucial. OBJECTIVE This study explored nurses' perceived determinants influencing the implementation of co-created nursing innovations. METHODS We conducted a qualitative study using semi-structured interviews with nurses at a Dutch university hospital who were working with co-created nursing innovations. The Theoretical Domains Framework (TDF) was employed to identify the barriers and facilitators. Data analysis followed a deductive theoretical thematic analysis approach based on the 14 TDF domains. Determinants were labeled as a barrier, facilitator, or both. RESULTS Of the 14 TDF domains, 9 appeared relevant, including Intention, Professional Role and Identify, and Knowledge. The absence of a "superuser," lack of storage space, and negative experiences during use were perceived as barriers to the implementation of nursing innovations. The importance of time-saving features, user-friendliness, reminders to use the innovation, and team enthusiasm were perceived as facilitators. CONCLUSIONS Participants confirmed that the Social Influences domain, combined with Behavioral Regulation and Knowledge, were barriers to implementation, while Intentions and Reinforcements and Rewards were seen as facilitators. Abstract
Background It is essential to provide evidence-based practice (EBP) courses for undergraduate nursing students. For this reason, students' beliefs and intentions to implement EBP should be measured to ensure that EBP courses are effective. Aim The aim of this study is to evaluate Saudi nursing students' EBP beliefs (EBPB) and implementation before they enroll in an EBP course. Methods A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted. Two scales were used: the EBPB scale and the EBP implementation (EBPI) scale. The questionnaire was available for completion a single time before the second-year nursing students were introduced to the EBP course. Results The study revealed that the mean age for students is 20 ± 0.83. Nearly two-thirds (61.54%) of students are female. It can be noted that 71.5% have not attended any EBP programs. Additionally, 65.38% of students understand the concept of EBP, and 68.46% are willing to apply EBP nursing care. Therefore, there is a positive correlation between the EBPB scale variable and the EBPI scale. Conclusion This study highlights the positive attitude of undergraduate nursing students toward EBP. Nursing education programs must place more emphasis on integrating EBP curricula into their teaching strategies, with a focus on developing students' knowledge, skills, and values in EBP.

Abstract
To systematically search and synthesise available literature on barriers and enablers to evidence-based care for patients with laparotomy wounds reported by acute care nurses. Specifically, we focused on wound assessment, infection control techniques, wound products used, escalation of care, dressing application, documentation and holistic care. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic review and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews Checklist and explanation documents directed the review. The methodology framework created by Arksey and O'Malley, updated by Levac et al., and the Joanna Briggs Institute were utilised to assist the scoping review process. Data synthesis was guided by the Theoretical Domains Framework. Six qualitative and mixed methods studies were selected for the review. Most reported barriers and enablers were mapped to knowledge, skills, beliefs about consequences, environmental context and resources and beliefs about capability domains. The main barriers were limited access to and utilisation of wound assessment tools and clinical practice guidelines for wound management and suboptimal time management skills. Inconsistent management of laparotomy wounds was related to ward culture and nurses' lack of knowledge and skills in surgical wound assessment and aseptic technique during wound encounters. The reported enablers were knowledge of multi-factorial risk factors for surgical wound recovery, valuing education and reflective practice and believing that protocols should be utilised alongside comprehensive wound assessments. Holistic wound care included patient education on the role of mobilisation and nutrition in wound healing. Acute care nurses do not routinely incorporate comprehensive, evidence-based care recommendations for laparotomy wound management. Further research on evidence-based care behaviours in managing laparotomy wounds is required. The results indicate a need for standardising the practice of laparotomy wound management while acknowledging the current challenges faced in the ward environment.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Basing practice on evidence is a widely acknowledged requirement for nursing, but shortcomings still exist. An increased understanding of the actualization of evidence-based nursing (EBN) across different nursing contexts is needed to develop better support for EBN and promote uniform high-quality nursing. AIMS The aim of this study was to compare the actualization of EBN in different organizational contexts in Finland. METHODS Data for this survey were collected in 2021. The actualization of EBN in primary, specialized, and social care organizations was evaluated with the Actualization of Evidence-Based Nursing instrument, nurses' version, which focuses on individual and organizational-level EBN support structures. Differences between (1) specialized and primary healthcare, and (2) different nursing practice settings were tested with Welch's two sample t-test, the Kruskal-Wallis rank sum test, and the Wilcoxon rank sum test. RESULTS Based on nurse (n = 1020) evaluations, those working in specialized healthcare hold more positive attitudes toward EBN (p = .021) and evaluated their organization's methods for monitoring and evaluating nursing practices (p = .004) more positively than those working in primary healthcare. Regarding different nursing practice settings (n = 1241), the most positive results were observed within preventive healthcare where nurses evaluated their attitudes toward EBN, EBN competence, and personal evidence-based practices more positively compared to other nursing practice settings. The results were parallel regarding several organizational structures for EBN. Positive results were also observed within somatic units at university hospitals, and most negative results were within institutional care settings, health centers, and home care settings. LINKING EVIDENCE TO ACTION There is a need for targeted support to strengthen EBN across different organizational contexts, with special attention to those contexts where nursing professionals with lower education levels work. Future research needs to focus on further analyzing the organizational differences and what can be learned, especially from preventive healthcare but also somatic units at university hospitals.

Abstract
This scoping review, conducted within the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) framework, analysed the recent literature (January 2018 to March 2023) addressing factors inherent to professional practice environments and organisational contexts influencing nurses' adoption of evidence-based practice (EBP). This review included studies involving nurses regardless of sector, practice setting, and scope of practice. A systematic search was undertaken across the PubMed, Web of Science, CINAHL, and MEDLINE databases, as well as the EThOS, OATD, and RCAAP platforms. The extracted textual elements underwent a content analysis, resulting in a coding structure established through an inductive approach that categorised information into main categories and subcategories linked by similarity and thematic affinity. Forty-one studies were included, revealing four main categories of factors impacting EBP adoption by nurses: (1) organisational dynamics, (2) management and leadership, (3) teamwork and communication, and (4) resources and infrastructure. The study's limitations acknowledge the subjective nature of categorisation, recognising potential variations based on individual perspectives despite adopting procedures to minimise the risk of bias. The results provide a substantial foundation for developing interventions to cultivate environments conducive to EBP adoption by nurses, thereby enhancing the integration of evidence into nurses' professional practice contexts. Abstract
AIM To explore nurses' experiences and perspectives about evidence-based practice (EBP) implementation in the healthcare context. DESIGN A qualitative descriptive study design using focus group discussions (FGDs). METHOD Sixty-four nurses who purposefully selected and worked at various healthcare organizations in Bisha Governorate, Saudi Arabia, were included. Eight FGDs were used to obtain data using open-ended questions. The collected data underwent inductive qualitative content analysis. RESULTS Two main categories were extracted: experiences and perspectives towards EBP. The experiences category emerged into four sub-categories: familiarity with concepts and benefits, steps, dissemination sources of EBP and sources of EBP knowledge, while perspectives towards the EBP category included four sub-categories: application of EBP in clinical practice, barriers, facilitators and EBP application methods. The participants experienced being in a non-supportive and non-encouraging atmosphere which results from a lack of organizational commitment to EBP implementation and illuminates the complexities involved in the integration process. CONCLUSION The nurses' experience with EBP indicated that there was limited support for the implementation of this approach. Furthermore, they experienced varying barriers to EBP implementation. They viewed EBP as a complex technique as they lacked knowledge and skills related to the formulation of research questions, and retrieving, applying and disseminating of EBP in clinical practice decision-making. That is due to barriers pertinent to the individual, organizational and patient factors. The key to successfully implementing an EBP in nursing practice is to promote professional development, comprehensive and continuous training, a culture of change, organizational support and motivation. CLINICAL RELEVANCE Through the construction and provision of ongoing educational interventions and mentoring programmes about EBP, healthcare organizations and nursing leadership may develop a comprehensive strategy to encourage staff nurses' participation in the EBP process. This is to enhance nurses' experiences and perspectives towards the EBP approach and overcome the barriers to effective implementation. Abstract
BACKGROUND Bachelor thesis are among the most important ways of exercising Chinese nursing students' research skills and developing critical thinking. However, there is a mismatch between the expectations and abilities of clinical nursing teachers and nursing students. Exploring the impediments to nursing students' research skills can provide a basis for developing targeted improvements. OBJECTIVE To identify barriers to the completion of research projects among nursing undergraduates during their internships from the dual student and instructor perspectives. DESIGN Descriptive qualitative design. SETTING Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, we conducted this study at a tertiary hospital in Fuzhou, Fujian Province. PARTICIPANTS The study was conducted using a purposive sample of 16 nursing interns and six instructors. METHODS Data were collected through semi-structured interviews to provide nursing students and instructors with various perspectives. The collected data were analysed using thematic analysis methods. RESULTS This study included 16 students (two male and 14 female; age 21.75 ± 0.66 years), six instructors (age 34.33 ± 1.97 years), which was sufficient to reach data saturation. We identified 126 codes from the interview data and obtained seven subcategories among three categories: a) Lack of scientific research training: lack of clinical instructors' experience, lack of academic training courses, and lack of necessary scientific research resources support; b) Poor communication: excessive workload, poor instructor-student relationship, and lack of communication skills; and c) Lack of support systems: lack of support from other disciplines and negative coping patterns. CONCLUSIONS The findings of this study will help nursing interns develop an interest in scientific research throughout their internships. Reducing barriers will also strengthen teacher training programmes, improve the teaching process, promote teacher-student communication, and provide students with necessary social support.

Abstract
Evidence-based clinical decision-making is considered a core competency for professional nurses. However, barriers such as lack of time in clinical practice; information overload; restricted access to resources; lack of evidence appraisal skills, awareness, and knowledge; and unreliable resources prevent them from adopting evidence-based practice. This study examined the usefulness of the PubMed4Hh (PubMed for Handhelds) mobile application for clinical decision-making at the point of care among Maryland newly licensed RNs. Using iOS and Android smartphones, 178 newly licensed RNs participated in a 6-month trial from November 2019 to April 2020. Nurses manually entered free-text queries or used voice inputs on the "Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome" or "askMEDLINE" search engines. The results retrieved were presented as journal article abstracts or short summaries called "the bottom line," designed for quick reading at the point of care. Both Patient, Intervention, Comparison, Outcome and askMEDLINE were rated highly for their usefulness, and participants said they would continue using PubMed4Hh and recommend it to others. Newly licensed RNs had a significantly higher perception of the usefulness of PubMed4Hh when the results of "the bottom line" or abstracts confirmed, led, or modified their nursing skills, knowledge, or the patient's care plan.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the art of using up-to-date information for clinical decision-making. Healthcare professionals at all levels are expected to use the latest research evidence for quality care. In Ethiopia inclusive and nationally representative summarized evidence regarding the level of EBP among health professionals is scarce. Therefore, this systematic review and meta-analysis aimed to assess the pooled prevalence of EBP utilization and its determinants among Ethiopian health professionals. METHOD A systematic review and meta-analysis were conducted using PRISMA guidelines. Comprehensive literature was searched in PubMed, Google Scholar, and African Online Journal databases. A weighted inverse variance random effect model was used to estimate pooled prevalence. Cochrane Q-test and I2 statistics were computed to assess heterogeneity among studies. Funnel plot and Eggers test were done to assess publication bias. Factors associated with EBP were identified using STATA v. 14. RESULT Overall, 846 articles were retrieved and finally 23 articles were included in this review. The pooled prevalence of good EBP among health professionals was 52.60% (95%CI; 48.15%-57.05%). Knowledge about EBP (AOR = 2.38, 95% CI: (2.08-2.72)), attitude (AOR = 2.09, 95% CI: (1.67-2.60)), educational status (AOR = 3.12, 95% CI: (2.18-4.47)), work experience (AOR = 2.59, 95% CI: (1.48-4.22)), EBP training (AOR = 2.26, 95% CI: (1.87-2.74)), presence of standard guideline (AOR = 1.94, 95% CI: (1.51-2.50)), internet access (AOR = 1.80, 95% CI: (1.47-2.20)), presence of enough time (AOR = 2.01, 95% CI: (1.56-2.60)) and marital status (AOR = 1.73, 95% CI: (1.32-2.28)) were determinants of EBP. CONCLUSION Around half of health professionals in Ethiopia have good EBP utilization which was low. Knowledge, attitude, educational status, work experience, EBP training, presence of standard guidelines, internet access, presence of enough time, and single marital status were positively associated with EBP. Therefore future interventions should focus on increasing their knowledge and changing their attitude through providing training and addressing organizational barriers like availing standard guidelines, accessing the internet, and minimizing professionals' workload that enables them to critically appraise and integrate the latest evidence for clinical decision-making to improve the quality of care.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate knowledge, attitude and practice of screening pre-ulcerative lesions among endocrinology healthcare workers. METHODS A new questionnaire was developed and distributed online and 1004 valid questionnaires were returned. T-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation analysis, and multiple linear regression were used for statistical analysis. RESULTS A total of 1100 questionnaires were returned, and 96 were excluded. The scores of endocrinology healthcare workers' knowledge, attitude, and practice for screening for pre-ulcerative lesions were 45.46 ± 16.26, 92.11 ± 10.50, and 72.27 ± 17.63 respectively. 60.2% participants had been trained to screen for pre-ulcerative lesions, but 39.8% had not been trained. 31.8% of healthcare professionals claimed that their hospital did not have a screening project for pre-ulcer diabetic foot lesions. Positive relationships were found between knowledge and practice and between attitude and practice. Multiple linear regression analysis showed that: level II hospital and tertiary hospital were the main factors influencing the knowledge scores; Undergraduate and participating in relevant training were the main factors influencing the attitude scores; participating in relevant training, hospital conducts relevant projects, and patient cooperation, and working hours were the main factors influencing the practice score. CONCLUSIONS Endocrinology healthcare workers need more knowledge regarding pre-ulcerative lesions, and their screening practices need to be strengthened. Increased education and training for pre-ulcerative lesion screening should be implemented among healthcare workers in endocrinology departments.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To provide a scoping review of the existing literature regarding academic-practice partnership in evidence-based nursing education, with the goal of gathering evidence to support the establishment of such partnerships. BACKGROUND Academic-practice partnerships play a crucial role in overcoming separation of theory and practice in evidence-based nursing education and promoting the adoption of evidence-based nursing practice. However, there is a lack of scoping review of related literature. DESIGN This scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute updated methodology for scoping reviews and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews checklist. METHODS We conducted a comprehensive search in PubMed, Web of Science, SCOPUS, Cochrane Library, CINAHL, EMBASE, Educational Resource Information Centre (ERIC) and five gray websites between November and December, 2022. A total of 10515 articles were retrieved, 26 articles were included in the scoping review. Two reviewers reviewed the articles, screened literature, and extracted data, independently. A third researcher was involved when consensus is needed. Practice-academic partnership logic model was used to analysis and synthesis the results. RESULTS Main themes included inputs (time, instructional resources, partnership agreement, key stakeholder commitment, shared mission, leadership support, common vision, instructional design, mutual respect, and instructional objectives), activities (ongoing communication and shared decision-making), outputs (action plan: evidence-based nursing project plans and educational resources), outcomes (improved evidence-based nursing competency, enhanced quality of nursing care, career advancement and personal development, increased evidence-based nursing projects, improve evidence-based nursing education, heightened academic achievement, increased engagement in evidence-based nursing, increased networking opportunities, and improved staff satisfaction), facilitators (sufficient inputs, effective activities, and clear partnership structure, ongoing feedback, and positive outcomes), and barriers (insufficient inputs). CONCLUSIONS Inputs and activities could lead to outputs and outcomes. Facilitators and barriers could influence the degree of outputs and outcomes. Academic-practice partnerships can overcome the barriers of disconnection between theory and practice in evidence-based nursing education, and further promote education and research by leveraging the strengths of both parties, resulting in a mutually beneficial collaboration.

Abstract
AIM The aim of this scoping review was to evaluate and summarise the measurement properties of nursing research competence instruments and provide a summary overview of the use of nursing research competence instruments. BACKGROUND Increasing nursing research competence instruments have been developed. However, a systematic review and evaluation of nursing research competence instruments is lacking. METHOD This scoping review was conducted following the Joanna Briggs Institute updated methodology for scoping reviews and reported according to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses extension for Scoping Reviews checklist. Reviewers searched articles in Eight English databases and two Chinese databases between April 1st, 2022, and April 30th, 2022. An updated literature search was conducted between March 1st and March 4th, 2023. The literature screening and data extraction were conducted by two reviewers, independently. A third reviewer was involved when consensus was needed. The COnsensus-based Standards for the selection of health Measurement Instruments methodology was used to evaluate the methodological quality and measurement properties of the nursing research competence instruments. RESULTS Ten studies involving eight nursing research competence instruments were included. None of the existing instruments have assessed all measurement properties. A total of 177 empirical studies have utilized a nursing research competence instrument with tested measurement properties. CONCLUSION 'Self-evaluated Nursing Research Capacity of Questionnaire (refined)' was identified as the most appropriate nursing research competence instrument in existing instruments. However, reviewers need to conduct further measurement properties studies on the existing nursing research competence instruments. IMPLICATIONS FOR THE NURSING POLICY This study could guide the selection of appropriate nursing research competence instruments which could help to evaluate the nursing research competence of nurses and inform the development of intervention plans to enhance nursing research competence.

Abstract
Nurses' competency toward evidence-based practice (EBP) has been extensively investigated by several studies worldwide. However, factors affecting the competence of Greek nurses working in the NHS have not been fully investigated in terms of EBP. Thus, this study aimed to explore the impact of the individual qualifications of nurses on their competence toward EBP. Data from 473 registered nurses working in 10 hospitals in the Greek National Health Service (NHS) were collected between October and December 2020 using a convenience sampling method in a cross-section design. The Greek version of the 35-item (five-point Likert scale) Evidence-Based Practice Competency Questionnaire for Professional Registered Nurses (EBP-COQ Prof) was used to assess the competence level of nurses, focusing on attitudes, skills, and knowledge, as well as the utilization of EBP in clinical practice. One-way ANOVA and Pearson coefficient tests were applied to compare the possible differences among variables (two or more groups) as appropriate. A multi-factorial regression model was applied to explore participants' qualifications, including demographics (MSc degree, gender, English language knowledge, etc.) as independent variables, and to control for potential confounding effects toward EBP competency. The p-values < 0.05 were considered statistically significant. The mean age of the 473 participants (402 women and 71 men) was 44.7 ± 9.2 years old. The mean value of competence subscales was found as follows: attitudes 3.9 ± 0.6, knowledge 3.7 ± 0.6, skills 3.1 ± 0.8, and utilization 3.4 ± 0.7. A multivariate regression analysis revealed that associates of "Master's degree" (t = 3.039, p = 0.003), "Writing an academic article" (3.409, p = 0.001), "Working in a University clinic" (2.203, p = 0.028), and "Computer Skills" (2.404, p = 0.017) positively affected "Attitudes", "Knowledge", "Skills", and "Utilization", respectively. The research data suggest that nurses working in the Greek NHS were limited in competence regarding EBP in comparison with other European countries. Therefore, vocational, educational, and training programs tailored to EBP enhancement are crucially important. This study was not registered.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this scoping review was to describe the instruments used to assess the knowledge and skills of evidence-based practice (EBP) in healthcare settings. METHODS A scoping review was undertaken. Three electronic databases (CINAHL, PubMed and Cochrane) were searched in January 2022. The search phrases consisted of the following terms: healthcare professionals, EBP, competence and instrument and their synonyms, keywords and MeSH terms. The database search was run without any limitations. The Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses guidelines were followed to support reporting. RESULTS Ultimately, 39 studies were included; most of them (35) were cross-sectional studies. The studies were conducted in 17 countries. A total of 17 evidence-based knowledge and skills instruments were identified. The Upton and Upton instrument was used in 19 studies. Twelve self-reported instruments were used only once. The psychometric properties of the instruments varied. The reliability was typically reported with Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The content of the EBP knowledge/skills instruments consists of five main categories: EBP, evaluation of current practice, preparation for the implementation of EBP, implementation of evidence and active participation in the development of EBP. CONCLUSION Almost all instruments are self-assessment instruments. Validated knowledge tests should be further developed. The instruments emphasise the preparation for the implementation of EBP. Further research is needed to develop instruments for healthcare professionals to assess the knowledge and skills of the implementation of evidence.

Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To examine knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding postoperative delirium and the relationships among cardiac surgery nurses in China. BACKGROUND Postoperative delirium is a prevalent and devastating complication following cardiac surgery. Nurses play a part in multi-disciplinary collaboration for preventing and managing postoperative delirium, of whom knowledge, attitude, and practice are essential. DESIGN A cross-sectional multi-centre study. METHODS Nurses from cardiac surgery wards and intensive care units of five tertiary hospitals in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China were enrolled. Data were gathered online using a self-administered questionnaire. Student's t-test, or analysis of variance, or non-parametric tests were performed to compare differences across groups. Bootstrapping mediation analysis was conducted to examine the relationship between knowledge, attitude, and practice. The STROBE checklist was used for the reporting of this study. RESULTS Of 429 nurses, a moderate level of knowledge and high levels of attitude and practice regarding postoperative delirium were revealed. Nurses with higher education, higher academic title, 5-10 years of practice in nursing and cardiac surgery nursing exhibited increased knowledge. With advanced age, practice in a specialised hospital, and training experience, nurses reported a better degree of practice. Attitude played a full mediating effect in the relationship between knowledge and practice, accounting for 81.82% of the total effects. CONCLUSIONS Knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding postoperative delirium are promising among Chinese cardiac surgery nurses, with knowledge of screening tools and perioperative nonpharmacological interventions and practice of screening in need of enhancement. Attitudes act as an intermediary between knowledge and practice regarding postoperative delirium. RELEVANCE TO CLINICAL PRACTICE Innovative and stratified in-service education is warranted to address knowledge enhancement. Meanwhile, organisations are suggested to make efforts to foster nurses' positive attitudes, particularly in creating a favourable culture and developing institutional protocols for postoperative delirium management to improve practice. NO PATIENT OR PUBLIC CONTRIBUTION This study is focused on cardiac surgery nurses' knowledge, attitude, and practice regarding postoperative delirium, and the research questions and design are from clinical nursing practice, literature review, and expert panel review, in which the patient or public is temporarily not involved.

Abstract
Background With the expansion of scientific information, and the beginning of evidence-based practice (EBP), embracing "evidence-based information-seeking behaviors" is essential to provide effective up-to-date nursing care. To better support students' evidence-based information-seeking behaviors, this study explores how nursing students actually search and identify evidence-based information. Methods A concurrent think aloud technique was employed in which 12 nursing students were asked to verbalize their thoughts whilst using search engines to find EBP to inform their practice. Results In general, searching literature per se is complex and many different searching activities are employed, including triggering, recalling, scanning, linking, accessing, retrieving, relating, extracting, evaluating and referencing. The search behavior may involve some iteration of the cyclical activities of scanning, linking and accessing. It is believed that background (recalling pre-existing knowledge), assessing relevancy, evaluating and referencing are pertinent to evidence-based practice information-seeking behavior. In view of this, the study proposes a new model of evidence-based information-seeking behaviors. Conclusion This study presents an evidence-based information-seeking behavior model based on a number of identified searching features. Results may have important practical implications for nursing educators.

Abstract
No validated instrument is available for assessing the evidence-based practice capacity of Vietnamese health professionals. This study aimed to translate and validate the Health Sciences Evidence-Based Practice questionnaire (HS-EBP) from English to Vietnamese and ascertain its psychometric properties. Data were collected from two obstetric hospitals in Vietnam. Participants: A total of 343 midwives were randomly selected. The HS-EBP questionnaire was translated by a group of bilingual experts into Vietnamese (HS-EBP-V). Content validity was assessed by two experts. Internal consistency and test-retest reliabilities were assessed using Cronbach's α and intraclass correlation (ICC), respectively. Construct validity was assessed using the contrasted groups approach. As a result, the content validity index of the HS-EBP-V reached 1.0. For the individual subscales, Cronbach's α was 0.92-0.97 and ICC was between 0.45 and 0.66. The validity of the contrasted-groups approach showed discrimination by a significant difference in the subscale scores among diploma holders compared with bachelor's degree holders (p < 0.001). The validation of the HS-EBP questionnaire indicated satisfactory psychometric properties. The results indicate that the HS-EBP is a reliable and valid instrument which assesses the competencies of as well as facilitators of and barriers to the five steps of EBP among midwives. The HS-EBP-V was deemed a reliable and validated tool for assessing the competency and application of EBP among Vietnamese healthcare professionals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Promoting evidence-based practice (EBP) among nurses may be a valuable component of improving health care. However, a comprehensive analysis of the factors associated with the knowledge and skill EBP in nurses has not been performed to date. This is essential for facilitating the acquisition of relevant knowledge and skills to effectively implement EBP. AIMS The aim of the study was to determine the factors related to the knowledge and skills of EBP among nurses. METHODS We searched various literature databases up to October 25, 2021, for relevant studies that investigated the factors associated with the knowledge and skills of EBP in nurses. The authors, year of study, country, study design, study subject information, instruments used for the assessment EBP knowledge and skills, use of multivariable analysis, and factors significantly associated with the knowledge and skills of EBP among nurses were extracted from each eligible study and collated to identify commonly reported factors. RESULTS We identified 47 eligible studies conducted in a wide range of countries. Nine articles applied multivariable analyses, and 38 articles did not perform any multivariable analyses. The factors related to the knowledge and skill levels of EBP among nurses were classified into two categories: personal and work-environment factors. In the nine articles that conducted multivariable analysis, personal factors, which included educational level, participation in EBP education, and experience conducting research, and work-environment factors, such as resources and organizational support for EBP, were related to the knowledge and skills of EBP among nurses. LINKING EVIDENCE TO ACTION Our review highlighted educational level, participation in EBP education, experience conducting research, and resources and organizational support for EBP as important factors that are associated with the knowledge and skills of EBP in nurses worldwide. Focusing on these factors may help improve nurses' understanding of EBP and facilitate the implementation of EBP.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess the utilisation of evidence-based practice (EBP) and its associated factors among nurses working in public hospitals of West Shoa zone, Oromia, central Ethiopia, in 2021. DESIGN Institution-based cross-sectional study. SETTING Government hospitals including four primary hospitals, three general hospitals and a referral hospital. The study was conducted between 10 August and 30 August 2021. PARTICIPANTS 418 randomly selected nurses working in public hospitals of West Shoa. Data were collected via a structured, self-administered questionnaire, entered into EpiData V.3.1 and exported to SPSS V.26 for analysis. OUTCOME MEASURE Utilisation of EBP (good/poor). RESULTS 52.4% (95% CI 47.6% to 57.3%) of nurses had good EBP utilisation. Level of hospital (adjusted OR (AOR) 0.456 (95% CI 0.253 to 0.821)), administrative position (AOR 2.7 (1.09 to 6.69)), level of education (AOR 0.353 (0.181 to 0.686)), knowledge about EBP (AOR 1.785, (1.13 to 2.82)), availability of time (AOR 0.523 (0.28 to 0.96)), and cooperative and supportive colleagues (AOR 0.429 (0.235 to 0.783)) were associated with good utilisation of evidence-based nursing practice. CONCLUSION The utilisation of EBP among nurses is low. Level of education, knowledge about EBP, sufficient time at the workplace, and cooperative and supportive colleagues were among the factors associated with good EBP utilisation. The healthcare system in general, hospital management specifically, needs to design strategies to improve evidence-based nursing practice in the area.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Evidence-based practice is vital for the provision of high-quality and safe healthcare. However, a rigorous, standardised, and unified evidence-based practice measure that could be applied to Arabic-speaking undergraduate students did not exist prior to this study. Moreover, translating questionnaires requires considerable time and money. OBJECTIVES Thus, this study aimed to investigate the psychometric properties of the Student Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire (English version) among Arabic-speaking undergraduate students at health sciences colleges in Saudi Arabia. DESIGN A cross-sectional survey was adopted. SETTINGS The survey was conducted online over a six-month period. PARTICIPANTS A convenience sample of 395 undergraduate nursing students was recruited from health sciences colleges at seven universities in Saudi Arabia. METHODS The students were requested to complete the survey, including the Student Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire, as well as a background and academic data sheet. Construct validity, discriminant sensitivity, and internal reliability were evaluated. RESULTS An exploratory factor analysis was performed. The Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin test value was 0.901, which was higher than the acceptable value of 0.70, indicating the adequacy of the sample size. Bartlett's test of sphericity was significant (chi-square (df: 210) = 4768.818, p < .001), indicating significant correlations within the variables and matrix. Based on Kaiser's criterion with eigenvalues > 1, four factors were detected that explained 62.03 % of the variance. The exploratory factor analysis of the 21 items generated factor loadings from 0.64 to 0.87. The Student Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire has discriminant validity. The Cronbach's alpha and split-half reliability were over 0.7, indicating that the questionnaire had good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha = 0.922). No evidence for floor or ceiling effects was observed. CONCLUSIONS The English version of the Student Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire has a satisfactory validity and reliability level and can be used among Arabic-speaking undergraduate students without the need to translate it into Arabic.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Research is essential to practice nursing and must be duly enhanced during university training. Therefore, writing a bachelor thesis may help to develop research skills and thus transfer this skill set to practical application. OBJECTIVES 1) To ascertain whether writing a bachelor thesis has a bearing on attitudes towards nursing research and development; 2) to establish a comparison between groups (students and nurses), and 3) to analyse other factors (work experience, advanced training, research experience) that may influence the relationship between nurses and nursing research and development. DESIGN A cross-sectional comparative study. SETTING AND PARTICIPANTS The participants totalled 204: 38 nursing students and 166 nurses. METHODS Data were gathered using the instrument Nurses' Attitudes towards Research and Development within Nursing devised by Björkström and Hamrin (2001) version II validated in Spanish. This instrument consists of 33 statements grouped into 7 factors, whose responses offer 5 alternatives on a Likert scale. RESULTS Most participants were female (86.3 %), with a mean age of 36 (SD = 11.65). The participants who have written a bachelor thesis obtained a higher score (Mdn = 4.14; range = 2.06) than those who have not (Mdn = 3.98; range = 2.13), with a significant difference (U = 3959.5; p = 0.012) and a moderate effect size (Hedges's g = 0.40). The students are those who obtained the highest scores. Amongst the nurses, educational training is the element that is most positively correlated with attitudes towards nursing research and development (r = 0.340). CONCLUSION The results suggest that writing a bachelor thesis engenders greater interest and a favourable attitude towards nursing research and development and displays that the most interested group is the students, followed by nurses holding a degree in nursing, and lastly those with a Diploma of Higher Education in nursing. Nurses' educational training is the most influential aspect, standing above researcher or professional experience.

Abstract
AIM This study aims to establish postgraduate students' perceptions of the organizational culture and readiness for evidence-based practice of their workplaces in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. BACKGROUND Nurse shortages and a reliance on a transient nurse workforce have long been a challenge in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Developing a home-grown nurse workforce, a key objective of the Government of Saudi Arabia, can help to address this. Evidence-based practice offers a mechanism to address this. Evidence-based practice implementation is heavily reliant on the prevailing organizational culture. Establishing the organizational culture and readiness for evidence-based practice is crucial for sustainable evidence-based practice implementation. METHODS A pre-experimental pilot study collected data from the same participants at three different points. As part of this, a questionnaire measuring organizational culture and readiness for evidence-based practice was administered twice. Descriptive, inferential and correlational statistics were employed to analyse the data. RESULTS Results demonstrated improved participant perceptions of the organizational culture and readiness for evidence-based practice of their workplaces between the first (M = 76.58, SD = 19.2) and second (M = 92.10, SD = 23.68) data collection points, indicating moderate movement towards a culture of evidence-based practice. Strengths, challenges and opportunities for improvement were identified. CONCLUSION This study established participants' perceptions of the organizational culture and readiness for evidence-based practice of their workplaces, affording insight into context-specific strategies to embed evidence-based practice in health care organizations. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING MANAGEMENT Assessing an organization's culture and readiness for evidence-based practice (EBP) can afford insight on the strengths, challenges and opportunities that exist to equip nurse managers to advance evidence-based practice at individual, professional and organizational levels. This study demonstrated the importance of promoting an environment conducive to EBP and putting in place the necessary resources to support evidence-based practice implementation. Nurse managers can play a central role in this.

Abstract
AIMS There is a lack of research assessing perceived and actual evidence-based dietetics practice knowledge among registered dietitian nutritionists. This cross-sectional research examined the association between determinant factors (i.e., education attainment) and objective knowledge (i.e., quiz items) of evidence-based dietetics practices. Other determinant factors associated with perceived knowledge and skill, attitudes, behaviours and outcomes related to evidence-based dietetics practice were also assessed. Perceived knowledge items were compared to objective knowledge items to evaluate the accuracy of self-assessed evidence-based dietetics practice knowledge among dietitians in the United States. METHODS A modified and adapted evidence-based practice survey was emailed to registered dietitian nutritionists in the United States via the Commission on Dietetic Registration database between November and December 2020. Analysis of variance assessed the relationship between highest degree held and actual knowledge of evidence-based dietetics practices. Multiple linear regression and ordinal logistic regression determined participant-level characteristics associated with survey subscales and survey items, respectively. Pearson's correlation coefficient evaluated the relationship between subjective and objective items. RESULTS Four hundred and eighty-two dietitians completed the survey. Each increase in degree type was associated with an increase in objective knowledge score (all comparisons p < 0.001). Other determinants included recency of degree completion and peer-reviewed publications. Moderate positive associations (r = 0.35, p < 0.001) were found between subjective and objective measures. CONCLUSION Graduate-level education, recency of degree completion and peer-reviewed publications were supportive of evidence-based dietetics practice-related outcomes. Future research should evaluate the efficacy of training, particularly among those further from their highest completed degree.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE The objective of this scoping review is to identify and map the evidence reporting the knowledge, skills, attitudes, beliefs, and implementation of evidence-based practice among nurses in low- and middle-income countries. INTRODUCTION Evidence-based practice aims to improve health care quality, safety, and health system efficiency. Numerous research studies have explored nurses' engagement in evidence-based practice in high-income countries. Developing nations have recently joined the evidence-based practice movement, and primary research about nurses' engagement with it are emerging. INCLUSION CRITERIA The scoping review will include primary studies (quantitative, qualitative, and mixed methods) and gray literature addressing knowledge, skills, attitudes, beliefs, and implementation of evidence-based practice among nurses. Participants will include registered nurses working in low- and middle-income countries. Studies conducted in all health care settings, including acute and community settings, in low- and middle-income countries will be included. METHODS We will search MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, Scopus, ERIC, JBI Evidence-based Practice Database, Cochrane Library, LILACS, and AIM. Gray literature will be sourced from ProQuest Dissertations and Theses Global and Google Scholar for primary studies. Studies published in the English language will be included, with no limit on publication date. Titles, abstracts, and full-text articles will be assessed against the inclusion criteria by 2 independent reviewers. The extracted data will be analyzed quantitatively using frequencies and counts. Textual data from qualitative studies will be analyzed using descriptive content analysis. Results of the data analysis will be presented using graphs, tables, and a narrative format. Abstract
Purpose Physical restraint (PR) reduction interventions are currently exploring in developed regions with well-established welfare systems, whereas developing countries with fast population aging have not attracted enough attention. This China's pilot study evaluated the effects of a minimized PR program on restraint reduction and nursing assistants' knowledge, attitudes, intention, and practice toward PR and explored nursing assistants' experience of the program. Patients and methods This was a one-group, pretest, and posttest pilot trial with a nested qualitative descriptive study. A minimized PR program was obtained by summarizing the best evidence and was implemented in one Chinese nursing home with 102 older adults from December 18, 2020, to March 21, 2021. An educational program including three theoretical lectures and one operation training was first conducted for nursing assistants one-month period. The primary outcome was PR rate at 3 months. The secondary outcomes contained duration of restraints, types of restraints, the rate of correct PR use, the incidence of falls and/or fall-related injuries, and antipsychotics use at 3 months. Data on PR use and older adults' characteristics were collected through physical restraints observation forms and older adults' medical records. Nursing assistants' knowledge, attitude, intention, and practice toward PR were measured using the Staff Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices Questionnaire regarding PR at 1 month. A semi-structured interview for two administrative staff and a focus group discussion with 13 nursing assistants were analyzed using content analysis to explore perspectives of intervention implementation at 3 months. Results There were a significant increase in knowledge, attitude, and practice and a decrease in intention of nursing assistants after 1-month educational intervention (P < 0.001). Furthermore, only the rate of correct PR increased and the duration of restraint in the daytime decreased significantly at 3 months (P < 0.05). There were no significant effects on PR rate and other secondary outcomes at follow-up. Qualitatively, nursing assistants demonstrated overtly supportive perspectives and that assistance from the program enhanced their knowledge and practice. They noted several challenges that impeded implementation. Conclusion The intervention has acknowledged some benefits and was valued by nursing assistants. Implementation barriers should be addressed before delivering in larger trials.

The development of true evidence-based practice requires that practitioners have the knowledge and skills to research, analyze, and use evidence. These skills must be acquired in pre-graduate training. The objective of the present study was to analyze the contributions of students’ participation in knowledge translation projects to clinical practice for evidence-based learning. This was a qualitative, descriptive, and exploratory study that used focus groups. Scripted interviews were administered. The design of the study included five phases and took place in the partnering institutions of the Safety Transition Project, involving fifteen participants. The study was authorized by the Research Ethics Committee. The data were analyzed following the steps encoding the categories, storage and recovery, and (3) interpretation and using computer software (WebQDA®, Ludomédia, Aveiro, Portugal). Four categories were identified: learning evidence; communicating science; evidence-based practice; and developing skills. The successful implementation of evidence-based practice education resulted in students who understand its importance and use it competently. Further research should explore the skills developed by nurses involved in similar projects and their contribution to an EBP culture.

Abstract
Several studies have been conducted to investigate the barriers to implementing evidence-based practice (EBP) worldwide. In Saudi Arabia, a few studies were conducted in hospital and mental health settings, and no study has explored the topic in primary healthcare settings. This study aimed to examine the barriers perceived by primary healthcare nurses in implementing EBP. This study employed a correlational and cross-sectional design. A total of 284 nurses were surveyed using the BARRIERS scale. Regression analysis was performed to identify the effects of predictor variables on the four subscales. The overall raw score on the BARRIERS scale was 86.21 (standard deviation = 16.15). The highest mean score was reported in the organizational subscale, followed by the innovation and communication subscales, whereas the lowest mean score was reported in the adopter subscale. The findings showed that the three top-ranked barriers were: (1) results of the studies are not generalizable to nurses’ setting, (2) facilities are inadequate, and (3) physicians do not cooperate with the implementation. Findings showed that nurses encounter organizational-related barriers to a moderate extent and EBP implementation varies depending on gender, level of education, and job position. There is a need to create and implement educational interventions and programs to overcome the barriers to effective EBP implementation among primary healthcare nurses.

Abstract
(1) Background: Evidence-based practice (EBP) informs daily clinical interventions with the purpose of seeking changes to traditional practice through scientific evidence that justifies the reasons for our actions. The objectives were to describe the barriers, beliefs, and attitudes in the application of EBP among university health professionals (not doctors) and to evaluate the influence of the COVID-19 pandemic among them. (2) Methods: This prospective study is both descriptive and observational. The individuals under study were university health professionals (not doctors) from various autonomous regions within Spain, in both public and private spheres. Sociodemographic and labor-related variables linked to the research and its completion were studied. Likewise, the survey instrument Health Sciences Evidence-Based Practice questionnaire (HS-EBP) was administered to evaluate the barriers to, beliefs in, and attitudes towards evidence-based practice. (3) Results: A total of 716 responses were gathered, of which 387 were collected during the period of confinement, and 343 in the COVID-19 post-confinement period. Possible associations that might help respond to the objectives were explored through a correlational study between the sociodemographic variables and each sub-scale of the HS-EBP 30 questionnaire (n = 716). (4) Conclusions: Barriers to, beliefs in, and attitudes towards evidence-based practice are described. There is a leadership gap where line management provides insufficient motivation to follow work routines. The COVID-19 pandemic has caused immense stress among health professionals. The post-confinement group showed a significant change in the variables "beliefs and attitudes", and likewise in the "evaluation" block, justified by the need to update knowledge and to apply evidence.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Understanding and addressing the barriers to evidence-based practice (EBP) falls within the realm of implementation science. To date, disciplines such as naturopathy have paid little attention to implementation science, meaning the obstacles to delivering best practice care have largely been ignored. This study addresses this knowledge gap by examining the determinants of evidence implementation in New Zealand naturopathic practice. METHODS This cross-sectional study was open to all New Zealand naturopaths who had Internet access, and were fluent in the English language. Participants were invited to complete the 84-item Evidence-Based practice Attitude and utilization Survey (EBASE) online between February and July 2020. RESULTS The survey was completed in full by 104 naturopaths (86% female; 55% aged 40-59 years). While attitudes toward EBP were generally favourable, engagement in EBP activities was reported at a moderate-low level. Factors potentially contributing to the modest uptake of EBP were the moderate level of self-reported EBP-related skill, lack of clinical evidence in naturopathy and lack of time. Enablers of EBP uptake that were supported by the majority of participants were access to the Internet, online databases, EBP education materials, and full-text journal articles. CONCLUSIONS This study has provided much-needed insight into the level of EBP engagement among New Zealand naturopaths, as well as the various factors impacting evidence implementation. Attitude did not pose a major barrier to evidence implementation; rather, the barriers were largely structural, cognitive and cultural. This suggests that the barriers to EBP uptake in naturopathy are not unsurmountable.

Abstract
AIM This study aimed to measure the impact of a dedicated EBP module on the knowledge, skills and capability for EBP of students undertaking the inaugural MSc in Nursing: Advanced Practice programme in the KSA. BACKGROUND Evidence-based practice (EBP) yields multiple benefits for all key stakeholders of healthcare. Key to this are healthcare professionals armed with necessary EBP knowledge and skills. Nurses, the largest professional group in healthcare, can be instrumental in effecting sustained EBP implementation. In the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA) achieving this is hindered by a chronic shortage of nurses and a heavy reliance on expatriate nurses who are often a transient workforce, resulting in a high turnover. The Government of Saudi Arabia 2030 Vision aspires to address the indigenous nurse shortage and the quality of healthcare. In 2017 the inaugural MSc in Nursing: Advanced Practice programme was established in the KSA to prepare Saudi nurses for emerging advanced practice roles. A dedicated EBP module was a core component of the programme. METHODS A pre-experimental pilot study conducted over 18-months collected data from the same participants at three different points. Two validated EBP questionnaires measuring EBP Beliefs and EBP Implementation were administered to post-graduate students undertaking the MSc in Nursing: Advanced Practice programme in one Higher Education Institution in the KSA. Descriptive, inferential and correlational statistics were employed to analyse the demographic data, group mean scores and distribution on the EBP scales, as well the correlation between EBP Beliefs and EBP Implementation. FINDINGS Findings demonstrated that the educational intervention did improve participants' EBP beliefs and implementation. Participants reported positive beliefs about EBP at all 3 data collection points (M = 57.4 SD = 7.0; M = 62.54 SD = 7.21; M = 55.31 SD = 15.81, respectively). EBP implementation was low prior to undertaking the module but improved thereafter as illustrated across the 3 data collection points (M = 15.14 SD = 11.9; M = 27.64 SD = 14.35; M = 25.9 SD = 20.43). On both measures, higher scores indicate higher EBP beliefs and implementation. CONCLUSION This study established the EBP Beliefs and EBP Implementation of a sample of postgraduate nursing students in the KSA. Findings revealed a substantial improvement in both EBP Beliefs and EBP Implementation following the EBP module. Findings support the use of a dedicated module to prepare nurses to use EBP and to practice at an advanced level while simultaneously preparing them for leadership roles in healthcare in KSA. In so doing, this will help to advance the healthcare goals of the KSA 2030 vision.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To identify knowledge, skills, and attitudes on Evidence-Based Practice of nursing students in the School of Nursing of Universidade de São Paulo and to explore the relationship between knowledge, skills, and attitudes and associated variables. METHOD This is an exploratory, descriptive, analytical study conducted with 125 nursing undergraduate students. The data were obtained through application of the Evidence-Based Practice Questionnaire. RESULTS The mean score for the questionnaire was 4.73 (SD = 0.79), with a higher score in the Attitudes domain. There was a significant statistical correlation between questionnaire score and course year (p < 0.001). CONCLUSION There is a gap in the knowledge and skills associated to Evidence-Based Practice among nursing students. Effective strategies for teaching this subject in the nursing undergraduate course must be developed.

Abstract
AIMS AND OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effects of auricular acupuncture on vascular parameters on the risk factors for Diabetic Foot. METHODS Randomized and masked clinical trial. The sample was composed of 44 individuals with type 2 Diabetes Mellitus and they were randomly assigned to two groups: intervention (n = 22), which received five sessions of auricular acupuncture, and control (n = 22), which did not receive the therapy. Three evaluations were performed: before the intervention; one day after the last acupuncture session and 15 days after the second evaluation. For this, the subject's characterization instrument, the Ankle-Brachial Index measurement, and thermography were used. For data analysis, Mann-Whitney, Wilcoxon, Wilcoxon signed-rank, Fisher's Exact and Chi-Square tests were used. RESULTS Auriculotherapy provided results in the Ankle-Brachial Index Test, as well as in thermography, which showed significant temperature improvement. CONCLUSIONS The technique proved to be efficient in improving circulatory conditions and plantar temperature.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Although breastfeeding guidelines for infants admitted to the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) have been introduced in Japan, these guidelines have not been reflected in practice. To improve this situation, it is important for nurses and nurse-midwives to acquire knowledge of appropriate care. This study examined changes in nurse-midwives' knowledge, attitude, and implementation of appropriate care after implementing an education program focused on early essential care for breast milk expression among mothers of preterm infants. METHODS This pre- and post-intervention study using a single group was conducted from June 2018 to May 2019 and enrolled 36 nurse-midwives in one perinatal medical center. The education program content included nurses' roles in early essential care for milk expression and the necessary care to promoting breast milk production among mothers of preterm infants. The nurse-midwives' knowledge and attitude on care were investigated 3 months before (pre-1), just before (pre-2), just after (post-1), and 3 months after (post-2) the program. The nurse-midwives' care implementation was investigated at pre-1, pre-2, and post-2. During this time, 11 mothers (before: 7, after: 4) reported the status of milk expression for 10 days after birth. RESULTS The mean knowledge scores of the nurse-midwives at post-1 and post-2 were significantly higher than that at pre-2 (post-1: p < 0.001, post-2: p < 0.001). The attitude on care scores at post-1 and post-2 were significantly higher than that at pre-2 (post-1: p < 0.001, post-2: p = 0.010). The care implementation score at post-2 was significantly higher than that at pre-2 in eight items (e.g., Q7 Explain about the effect of initiating milk expression early and assist mothers in it). However, the education program did not cause any changes in the mothers' initiation and frequency of milk expression, and breast milk volume after birth. CONCLUSIONS The significant increases in the knowledge, attitude on care, and care implementation scores of the nurse-midwives suggest the beneficial effects of the education program. The small number of mothers in the survey on the practice of breast milk expression limited the full determination of the benefits of the education program for nurse-midwives.
