Abstract
OBJECTIVE The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to evaluate the accuracy (trueness and precision), marginal and internal adaptation, and margin quality of zirconia crowns made by additive manufacturing compared to subtractive manufacturing technology. METHODS The investigation adhered to the PRISMA-ScR guidelines for systematic reviews and was registered at the Prospero database (n°CRD42023452927). Four electronic databases, including PubMed, Scopus, Embase, and Web of Science and manual search was conducted to find relevant studies published until September 2023. In vitro studies that assessed the trueness and precision, marginal and internal adaptation, and margin quality of printed crowns compared to milled ones were included. Studies on crowns over implants, pontics, temporary restorations, laminates, or exclusively experimental materials were excluded. RESULTS A total of 9 studies were included in the descriptive reporting and 7 for meta-analysis. The global meta-analysis of the trueness (P<0.74,I2=90 %) and the margin quality (P<0.61,I2=0 %) indicated no significant difference between the root mean square of printed and milled zirconia crowns. The subgroup analysis for the printing system showed a significant effect (P<0.01). The meta-analysis of the crown areas indicated no significant difference in most of the areas, except for the marginal (favoring milled crowns) and axial (favoring printed crowns) areas. For precision and adaptation, both methods showed a clinically acceptable level. CONCLUSIONS Additive manufacturing technology produces crowns with trueness and margin quality comparable to subtractive manufacturing. Both techniques have demonstrated the ability to produce crowns with precision levels, internal discrepancy, and marginal fit within clinically acceptable limits. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE 3D printing emerges as a promising and potentially applicable alternative method for manufacturing zirconia crowns, as it shows trueness and margin quality comparable to restorations produced by the subtractive method.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Effects of ceramic translucency, layer thickness, and substrate colour on the shade of lithium disilicate glass-ceramic restorations proved to be significant in several studies, however, quantitative, numerical results on the relationship between the colour difference and these parameters are still lacking. The purpose of this in vitro study was to quantitatively determine how the colour reproduction ability of a lithium disilicate glass-ceramic is affected by its translucency, layer thickness, and substrate colour. METHODS Ceramic samples were prepared from A2 shade IPS e.max CAD blocks with high and low translucencies (HT and LT) in a thickness range of 0.5-2.5 mm (+/- 0.05 mm). Layered samples were acquired utilizing composite substrates in 9 shades; transparent try-in paste was used. The spectral reflectance of the specimens was assessed under D65 standard illumination with a Konica Minolta CM-3720d spectrophotometer. The CIEDE2000 colour difference (ΔE00) between two samples was analysed using perceptibility and acceptability thresholds set at 50:50%. Statistical analysis involved linear regression analysis and the Kruskal-Wallis test. RESULTS An increase in the thickness of 0.5 mm reduced the ΔE00 of the HT samples to 72.8%, and that of the T samples to 71.1% (p < 0.0001). 7 substrates with HT and LT specimens had significantly different results from the mean (p < 0.05). A thickness of 0.5 mm is not sufficient to achieve an acceptable result at any level of translucency, while the low translucency ceramic at a thickness of 1.5 mm gave acceptable results, except for severely discoloured substrates (ND8 and ND9). CONCLUSIONS The colour reproduction ability of lithium disilicate glass-ceramics is significantly affected by their translucency, layer thickness, and 7 substrates out of 9 substrates examined.

Abstract
PURPOSE To assess the shade match ability of four varieties of all-ceramic crowns to a neighboring bilayered lithium disilicate crown. MATERIAL AND METHODS A dentiform was used to fabricate a bilayered lithium disilicate crown on the maxillary right central incisor, following the anatomy and shade of a selected natural tooth. Two crowns (one full-contour, one cutback) were then designed on a prepared maxillary left central incisor, following the contour of the neighboring crown. The designed crowns were used to manufacture monolithic lithium disilicate, bilayered lithium disilicate, bilayered zirconia, and monolithic zirconia crowns, 10 each. An intraoral scanner and a spectrophotometer were used to assess the frequency of matched shades and to calculate the color difference (ΔE) between the two central incisors at the incisal, middle, and cervical thirds. Kruskal-Wallis and two-way ANOVA were used to compare the frequency of matched shades and ΔE values, respectively (α = 0.05). RESULTS There was no significant (p > 0.05) difference in frequencies of matched shades for each group at the three sites; except bilayered lithium disilicate crowns. Bilayered lithium disilicate crowns had significantly (p < 0.05) higher match frequency than monolithic zirconia at the middle third. The ΔE value was not significantly (p > 0.05) different among the groups at the cervical third. However, monolithic zirconia had significantly (p < 0.05) higher ΔE values than bilayered lithium disilicate and zirconia at the incisal and middle thirds. CONCLUSIONS Bilayered lithium disilicate and zirconia appeared to most closely match the shade of an existing bilayered lithium disilicate crown.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE This article demonstrates the use of a multicolored 3D-printed model for laboratory shade evaluation of ceramic veneers. CLINICAL CONSIDERATIONS A young female patient presented with peg lateral incisors and diastemata between her maxillary incisors. Four ceramic veneers for her maxillary incisors were fabricated using a digital workflow. A multicolored 3D-printed model was manufactured using material jetting technology. The multicolored model and try-in pastes were used to evaluate and adjust the shade of the veneers. Clinically acceptable color matching was achieved, the veneers were delivered without further chairside shade adjustments. CONCLUSIONS Successful color evaluation and adjustment were achieved using the combination of multicolored 3D-printed model and try-in pastes. The use of this approach saved time for stump shade taking and fabrication of tooth-colored dies. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE A multicolored 3D-printed model can be a useful tool for color evaluation and adjustment of ceramic restorations.

Abstract
The long-term success of ceramic laminate veneers (CLVs) is influenced by the marginal and internal fit of the restorations. However, studies comparing the fit of CLVs using different intraoral scanners or the indirect digitization technique are lacking. The purpose of this study was therefore to assess the marginal and internal fit of CAD/CAM-milled CLVs using different intraoral scanners and the indirect digitalization technique. An ivorine typodont maxillary left-central incisor was prepared; the tooth and the neighboring teeth were scanned and used as a template to print ninety 3D partial models. Thereafter, ceramic laminate veneers (CLVs) (N = 90) were milled from IPS-Emax CAD blocks and divided into six equal groups (15 specimens each) according to the type of intraoral scanner (IOS), as follows: Omnicam IOS, SC3600 IOS, Trios 3 IOS, Emerald IOS, I500 IOS. Fifteen further CLVs were fabricated using the conventional indirect digitalization technique. After cementation on the resin dies and embedding in clear epoxy resin, specimens were sectioned inciso-gingivally and mesio-distally. At the incisal and cervical positions, the marginal discrepancy was measured and evaluated in addition to the internal gap at six locations using SEM (200×). Differences between gap measurements among the six groups were determined using ANOVA. Games-Howell multiple comparisons for homogenous variances and LSD multiple comparisons for non-homogenous variances were used with 95% confidence intervals. The significance level was set at 0.05. The lowest mean absolute marginal gap at the incisal margins (AMGI) was recorded for Omnicam group (203.28 ± 80.14) µm, while the highest mean absolute marginal gap at the cervical margins (AMGC) was recorded for Omnicam group (147.16 ± 59.78) µm. The mean AMGC was reported to be significantly different between the conventional technique (146.75 ± 38.43) µm and Trios 3 (91.86 ± (35.51) µm; p = 0.001) and between Emerald (112.37 ± (50.31) µm; p = 0.042) and I500 (86.95 ± (41.55) µm; p < 0.001). The mean MGI was found to be significantly different between the conventional technique (114.11 ± (43.45) µm and I500 group (186.99 ± (73.84) µm) only (p = 0.035). However, no significant differences were found in the mean MGI between all types of IOSs. The means of AMG and MG were significantly different at incisal or cervical areas between the conventional technique and IOSs and within the scanner groups (p > 0.05). Marginal gaps were higher in the incisal region compared to the cervical region with both the indirect digitization technique and the IOSs. Ceramic laminate veneers (CLVs) fabricated using IOSs produced overall internal and marginal fit adaptation results comparable to CLVs fabricated from the indirect digitalization method, and both techniques produced clinically acceptable results.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To evaluate the effects of background color, ceramic type and coping thickness on masking ability (ΔE) and translucency parameter (TP) of CAD/CAM lithium disilicate glass-ceramic/monolithic zirconia and, to determine the correlations between coping thickness, TP and ΔE. METHODS A total of 120 ceramic specimens (2 mm, 1 mm and 0.5 mm thickness; n = 10) of four CAD/CAM ceramics: IPS e.max, IPS ZirCAD, Upcera Li CAD and Upcera TT CAD, were studied. Specimens were tested over nine fabricated backgrounds: A1, A2, A3.5, ND2 and ND7 shade resin-based composites, cobalt-chromium alloy (CC), medium precious alloy (MPA), black (B) and white (W). CIELab values (L*, a* and b*), color difference (ΔE) and translucency parameter (TP) were measured and calculated using a digital spectrophotometer (color i7, X-Rite, Pantone®). Data were analyzed using the Shapiro-Wilk test, one-way ANOVA, three-way ANOVA, independent t-tests and Tukey post-hoc tests (p < 0.05). RESULTS 2 mm CAD/CAM ceramics showed ideal color matching (ΔE<2.6) over different backgrounds, except for CC, B and W backgrounds. Monolithic zirconia had lower ΔE values than lithium disilicate glass-ceramics. ΔE and TP values significantly reduced with the increased coping thickness (p < 0.05). Regardless of ceramic type and thickness, a strong TP-SD of ΔE correlation was observed. SIGNIFICANCE CAD/CAM ceramic restoration color was significantly affected by background color, ceramic type and coping thickness. TP is a promising predictor for appropriate ceramic selection to receive an acceptable CAD/CAM ceramic restoration aesthetic.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Matching the shade selected and the final color of a ceramic restoration is challenging, and studies on matching monolithic ceramics to the shade selected are lacking. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the color match of monolithic lithium disilicate (LDS), zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (ZLS), presintered zirconia-reinforced lithium silicate (PS-ZLS), polymer-infiltrated ceramic network (PICN), and multilayer zirconia with the 3 modes of the VITA Classical shade guide. MATERIAL AND METHODS This study was performed on 50 rectangular plates (14×12×1 mm) of 5 types of ceramics with A2 shade (n=10). Zirconia specimens were evaluated in 3 locations: incisal, medial, and cervical thirds. The color coordinates of the specimens of all 7 groups were measured on #3 and #8 Ivoclar Natural Die Color material by using a reflective spectrophotometer. The color coordinates of A2 VITA shade were measured in 5 modes: without backing placed in specimen holder, shade tab on the backgrounds #3 and #8, and 1-mm-thick shade tab on the backgrounds #3 and #8. The color difference of each specimen with 3 modes of A2 shade (without backing and on similar backgrounds) was calculated by using the ΔE00 formula, and comparison among groups was performed by using 2-way ANOVA and Tamhane post hoc tests. The comparison of ΔE00 between the values obtained from backgrounds #3 and #8 was performed by using the independent t test (α=.05). RESULTS In both backgrounds, statistically significant differences were found between the studied groups and VITA shade (P<.001). In most situations, the amount of color difference was lowest for the "shade tab on the backgrounds" mode. On background #3, the highest color difference was related to ZLS (6.48 ±0.23), and the lowest values were observed in the PICN group (1.02 ±0.31). On background #8, the highest color difference was related to ZLS compared with the "without backing" mode (8.62 ±0.27), and the lowest values were reported for ZLS compared with the "shade tab on the backgrounds" mode (1.27 ±0.44). The independent t test showed a statistically significant color difference on the 2 different backgrounds for all situations (P<.001). CONCLUSIONS Color selection of monolithic ceramics with the VITA Classical shade guide is improved by placing the VITA tabs on a similar background. Background color has a significant effect on the final shade of the monolithic ceramics. Choosing the correct color for LDS, ZLS, and PS-ZLS requires more care than for PICN and zirconia.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effect magnitude of different parameters on smile attractiveness. MATERIALS AND METHODS A reference and 13 images were produced by manipulating 13 parameters. Image rating was performed with a 4-point Likert scale from least attractive (1) to most attractive (4). Image raters included laypeople, dental students, dentists, and dental specialists. Friedman and Wilcoxon image were used for estimate of effect size. Parameters were classified into small (0.10- < 0.30), medium (0.30- < 0.5), or large (≥0.50). RESULTS A total of 1040 people participated with good consistency (α = 0.861), and moderate reliability (0.64-0.7). The reference image had the highest rank (laypeople:11.79, dental background: 12.55). For effect size; gingival margin level (-0.11, -0.01), teeth width proportion (-0.09, -0.10), inverted smile arch (-0.09, -0.21), commissure line cant (-0.15, -0.17) and low smile (-0.24, -0.23) had small effect size; occlusal plane cant (-0.36, -0.49), midline cant (-0.36, -0.48), and midline shift (-0.37, -0.49) had medium effect size; diastema (-0.55, -0.54) and color (-0.56, -0.56) had large effect size for the laypeople and dental groups. High smile (-0.42, -0.51), incisor edge symmetry (-0.46, -0.54) had medium effect size in laypeople group and large effect size in the dental group. Width to length tooth proportion (-0.26, -0.39) had small effect size in the laypeople group and medium effect size in the dental group. CONCLUSIONS Smile parameters had different effect magnitude on smile attractiveness and were classified into small, medium, or large parameters. Neither laypeople nor professionals have a collective judgment on what constitutes a beautiful smile. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE This study investigated the effect magnitudes of 13 smile parameters and presented a small, medium, and large smile parameters classification. It should provide the clinician with an insight into the expected effect each parameter has on the smile.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM Achieving excellent esthetics with monolithic self-glazed zirconia crowns in anterior teeth is challenging, and the impact of different surface treatments and abutment shades on the final color is unclear. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to evaluate the effects of different external surface treatments (self-glazed, milled, polished, and glazed), different intaglio surface treatments (milled and airborne-particle abraded), and different abutment shades on the color difference of high-translucency self-glazed zirconia crowns. MATERIAL AND METHODS Sixty shade A1 and 60 shade A3 crowns were fabricated with a thickness of 0.80 ±0.02 mm and randomly divided into 12 groups (n=10). Different external and intaglio surface treatments were applied. Shade A1 and A3 abutments were made with composite resin. Color was measured with a spectrophotometer and expressed in CIELab coordinates, and color differences (ΔE00) between specimens and references were calculated. The data were analyzed with ANOVA and the Tukey post hoc test. The impact of different surface treatments and abutment shades on the color difference were compared by using multiple linear regression (α=.05). RESULTS The effects of external surface treatments, intaglio airborne-particle abrasion, and abutment shades on the L∗, a∗, b∗ and ΔE00 values of the final color of the crowns were significantly different (P<.001). Polishing resulted in the greatest ΔE00 value among all external surface treatments (P<.001). The average ΔE00 values of all crowns on the A3 abutment were higher than those of all crowns on the A1 abutment (P<.001). The influence on the color difference was abutment>external surface treatment>intaglio surface treatment. CONCLUSIONS Different surface treatments affected the final color of zirconia crowns, and a greater impact was seen with external surface treatments than with intaglio surface treatments. External polishing resulted in the greatest color difference. The abutment shade had the most effect on the color difference, as the darker the abutment color, the greater the color difference.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the optical properties of a dental restorative material manufactured from lithium aluminosilicate ceramic and reinforced with lithium disilicate. Translucency and the optical effects of various supporting materials on color were the primary focus. METHODS Five 10 × 10 mm samples were prepared in thicknesses of 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 mm of both high translucency (HT) and low translucency (LT) versions of the material in shade A3. A spectrophotometer was used to measure the illuminance of the samples with black and white backings in order to calculate contrast ratio (CR) and relative translucency parameter (RTP). A baseline relationship between translucency and material thickness was examined and the effects of composite, titanium, and zirconia abutments on color change were studied. RESULTS No significant findings were identified for RTP or CR between the HT and LT material, regardless of the material thickness (p = 0.39, p = 0.14, respectively). Regardless of material thickness (HT vs. LT), translucencies (RTP and CR) were significantly different with composite, titanium, and zirconia backings compared to baseline values (p < 0.0001). Titanium had the most significant decrease in translucency compared to composite and zirconia. There was no difference in ΔE00 between the HT and LT materials (p > 0.05) regardless of the backing. Titanium had the most significant effect on color of both materials followed by composite then zirconia (p < 0.0001). CONCLUSIONS There is not a clinically significant difference in translucency between the high translucency and low translucency materials. Only zirconia supporting structures produced changes in color that are clinically acceptable. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE Understanding the optical properties of glass-ceramic restorative materials aids providers in selecting appropriate materials for optimum esthetic outcomes. The lithium-aluminosilicate reinforced with lithium disilicate material does a poor job masking supporting structures and resisting color change.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of repetitive milling on the surface roughness of ceramic crowns. MATERIALS AND METHODS Twenty feldspathic ceramic crowns (VITABLOCS Mark II; Vita Zahnfabrik, Bad Säckingen, Germany) milled with hard milling protocol, and 20 zirconia crowns (5Y-TZP, inCoris TZI; Dentsply Sirona, York, PA) milled with soft milling protocol, using a 5-axis milling machine (inLab MC X5; Dentsply Sirona) were investigated. Atomic force microscopy (SPM SmartSPM™-1000) was used for surface roughness measurements (Ra, RMS). Pearson correlation between bur deterioration percentage as provided by the software of the milling machine and surface roughness was performed with an (r) range between 1 and -1. Trend analysis between the 2-half and among the 4-quarter bur lifetime was performed with linear contrast analysis and partial eta squared (η) for estimate of effect size. Analysis of mean variance between the zirconia and feldspathic ceramic groups was performed with a t-test, with α = 0.05. RESULTS Correlation analysis showed small correlation for Ra, RMS (r = -0.02, -0.16 for the feldspathic ceramic crowns and r = 0.044, 0.034 for the zirconia crowns), and no significant differences for the 2-half and 4-quarter groups (p > 0.05) for both crown types. Estimate of effect size was rated as medium for the 2-half groups (Ra = 0.420, RMS = 0.395) and large for the 4-quarter groups (RA = 0.22, F = 1.48, RMS = 0.19, F = 1.26) for the feldspathic ceramic crowns, and small effect size for the 2-half groups (Ra = 0.18, RMS = 0.20) and the 4-quarter groups (Ra = 0.035, RMS = 0.037) for the zirconia crowns. There was no significant difference (p = 0.178, F = 0.016. p = 0.088, F = 0.002) between the feldspathic ceramic and zirconia crowns with medium and large effect size (0.45, 0.57) for RA and RMS. CONCLUSIONS Milling zirconia and feldspathic ceramic crowns had small correlation between bur deterioration and surface roughness when the burs were used within their recommended lifetime. However, hard milled feldspathic ceramic crowns had higher surface roughness than the soft milled zirconia crowns. Bur deterioration had a larger effect on the surface roughness of the feldspathic ceramic crowns than the zirconia crowns.

Abstract
STATEMENT OF PROBLEM How the translucency and color of ceramic restorations are affected by surface changes from the corrosive environment in the oral cavity and aging of materials is unclear. PURPOSE The purpose of this in vitro study was to compare the impact of acidic exposure and aging on the color and translucency of monolithic zirconia and lithium disilicate ceramics. MATERIAL AND METHODS Twenty computer-aided design and computer-aided manufacturing (CAD-CAM) monolithic zirconia specimens and 20 pressed lithium disilicate specimens were fabricated. Half of the specimens of each group were aged in an autoclave (7.5 hours, 134 °C, 0.2 MPa), and the rest were immersed in hydrochloric acid to simulate the acidic conditions in the oral cavity from gastric reflux. The color coordinates L∗, a∗, and b∗ were measured with an ultraviolet spectrophotometer before and after aging or acidic storage. The translucency parameters and contrast ratios were calculated, and the CIEDE2000 color difference formula was used to determine color differences before and after each treatment. ANOVA and ANCOVA test models were used for data analysis (α=.05), while differences of color parameters in respect to acceptability and perceptibility thresholds were evaluated with the 1-sample t test (α=.05). RESULTS Lithium disilicate presented a significantly higher translucency parameter and lower contrast ratio at baseline compared with monolithic zirconia specimens (P<.001). Acidic storage significantly impacted all parameters compared with aging, especially for the lithium disilicate group. Color differences were above the acceptability ΔΕ00 threshold for lithium disilicate after acidic storage (P=.001) and below for monolithic zirconia after acidic storage (P=.003). CONCLUSIONS The performance of lithium disilicate was slightly inferior compared with that of monolithic zirconia specimens, as they presented significant and clinically observable differences for the translucency parameter and ΔΕ00 after acidic storage and aging.

Abstract
Background/purpose High translucent zirconia has been used as a new monolithic zirconia prosthesis, which has the potential to make anterior resin-bonded fixed dental prostheses (RBFDPs) without veneering porcelain. However, it is unclear whether the RBFDPs retainer can be thinned as much as conventional zirconia RBFDPs. The aim of this study was to assess the usability of high translucent zirconia RBFDPs with a thin retainer thickness by evaluating differences in retainer thickness on the surface strain. Materials and methods A model with a missing upper lateral incisor was used. The abutment teeth were upper central incisor and canine. Three types of RBFDPs were fabricated as follows: metal RBFDPs with a retainer thickness of 0.8 mm (0.8M), and high translucent zirconia RBFDPs with a retainer thicknesses of 0.8 and 0.5 mm (0.8Z, 0.5Z) (n = 10). The fitness of the margins was evaluated by the silicone replica technique. The surface strain of each retainer under static loading was measured and statistically analyzed using a t-test with Bonferroni correction. Results The marginal fitness of all RBFDPs was under 76.1 μm, which was clinically acceptable. Each strain of the 0.8Z and 0.5Z groups was significantly lower than that of the 0.8M (p < 0.05). There was no difference in strain of the zirconia RBFDPs even if the retainer thickness was changed. Conclusion Our results suggest that the high translucent zirconia RBFDPs can be manufactured with a retainer thickness of 0.5 mm, which reduces the amount of tooth preparation compared to the metal RBFDPs.

Abstract
It was aimed to evaluate shade matching between novel CAD/CAM blocks and the A2 target shade tab by considering the influence of cement shade and restorative material thickness on the chromatic background. A total number of 120 rectangular-shaped specimens were subtracted from four different prefabricated CAD/CAM blocks [Vita Enamic (VE), Lava Ultimate (LU), GC Cerasmart (GC), and Vita Mark II (VMII)]. These specimens had thicknesses of 0.5 mm and 1.0 mm. Three different shades (A2, opaque, and translucent) of dual-polymerized resin cement were chosen. The dentin shade (A3.5) restorative composite foundation was incrementally fabricated in a silicon mold. For control group, the A2 shade tab of the Vitapan classical shade guide was used. Different restorative material-cement-foundation assemblies were generated with optic gel. Color readings were performed by using a clinical spectrophotometer, and CIEDE2000 (ΔE00) formula was used to assess color differences. Data were statistically analyzed (α = 0.05). With increasing thickness, color difference values decreased. Higher mean ΔE00 units were observed in all restorative material sub-groups for 0.5 mm thickness. In TR shade, no statistically significant difference was detected among the mean ΔE00 values of 0.5 mm-thick restorative materials. Color differences in groups 1.0 mm-opaque-LU and 1.0 mm-opaque-GC indicated perceptible but clinically acceptable values (0.8˂ΔE00 ≤ 1.8). The highest and lowest ΔE00 units were observed in the 0.5 mm-A2-VE group (ΔE00 = 7.07) and 1 mm-opaque-GC group (ΔE00 = 1.46), respectively. Luting cement shade, restorative material type, and thickness significantly influenced the resultant color of restoration. Opaque cement on dentin foundation exhibited lower color differences.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim was to study the masking ability of high-translucency monolithic zirconia and provide guidance in selecting resin luting cements in order to mask discolored substrates. MATERIALS AND METHODS 160 high-translucency zirconia specimens were divided into 32 groups depending on their thickness and shades. Using five shades of try-in paste, the specimens were luted onto the sub strates (Co-Cr, precious-metal, opaque porcelain-sintered Co-Cr, opaque porcelain-sintered precious-metal, and 5M3-shade zirconia). All CIELAB color parameters were measured and statistically analyzed. RESULTS Zirconia shade and thickness and try-in paste shade affected CIELAB color parameters (P=.000) in different substrates groups, and there were interactions among these factors (P=.000). All five try-in paste shades can be chosen to achieve ΔE values of zirconia with 1.2 - 1.5 mm for masking dark-tooth-like 5M3-shade and zirconia with 1.5 mm for masking precious-metal groups < 2.6. Only suitable try-in paste shades were used, can ΔE values that less than 2.6 be achieved when applied translucent monolithic zirconia with 0.7-1.0 mm for masking dark-tooth-like 5M3-shade and zirconia with 0.7 - 1.2 mm for masking precious-metal groups. CONCLUSION Choosing suitable resin cement shades is necessary for high-translucency monolithic zirconia to achieve ideal masking ability (ΔE < 2.6) on the dark-tooth.

Abstract
Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the marginal gap of E-max press, and E.max computer-aided design and computer-assisted manufacturing (CAD-CAM) lithium disilicate (LD) ceramic crowns fabricated by using conventional technique and CAD-CAM technique. Materials and Methods: This was an in vitro experimental study carried out in Riyadh Elm University and King Saud University. A marginal gap of 30 LD crowns was evaluated by Stereomicroscopy. A total of 15 pressable LD (IPS E.max Press [Ivoclar Vivadent]) ceramic crowns were fabricated by using conventional lost wax pattern method (Group A). Digital impressions of the prepared dies were scanned and transferred to the milling machine. IPS E.max CAD (IPS E-max, Ivoclar, Amherst, NY, USA) LD blocks in shade Vita A2 were then milled by using DWX-50 machine for CAD-CAM crowns (Group B). Descriptive statistics of mean and standard error of marginal gaps for both groups were recorded and compared by applying Mann–Whitney U-test. All the data were analyzed by using statistical analysis software SPSS version 21.0 (Armonk, NY, USA: IBM Corp). Results: The LD crowns prepared by CAD-CAM technology (26.80 ± 3.4 μm) had significantly lower (P < 0.001) marginal gap than the LD pressed crowns (38.8 ± 2.3 μm) fabricated by conventional technique. The marginal gaps between CAD-CAM versus conventional groups exhibited significant differences at (42.68 μm vs. 52.46 μm, U = 51.500, P = 0.011), Mesiobuccal (15.94 μm vs. 30.13 μm, U = 45.500, P = 0.005), distolingual (26.70 μm vs. 43.86 μm, U = 63.500, P = 0.042), and distal (12.38 μm vs 31.45 μm, U = 47.500, P = 0.006). Conclusions: Within the limitations of the study, it can be concluded that LD all ceramic crowns fabricated by using CAD-CAM techniques showed lesser marginal gap and better marginal fit compared to the conventional technique.
