Abstract
INTRODUCTION Hospitals are increasingly turning to patients for valuable feedback regarding their care experience. A common method to collect this information is patient reported experience measures (PREMs) surveys. Health care workers report qualitative PREMs as more interesting, relevant, and informative than quantitative survey responses. However, a major barrier to utilising qualitative PREMs data to drive quality improvements is a lack of resources to analyse the data. This scoping review aimed to review the methods used to analyse qualitative PREMs survey data from routine hospital care. METHODS We utilised the JBI scoping review methodology, and searched four databases for articles from 2013 to 2023 which analysed qualitative PREMs survey data from routine care in hospitals. Study characteristics were extracted, as well as the analysis method - specifically, whether the study used traditional manual analysis methods in which the researcher reads the text and categorise the data, or automated methods utilising computers and algorithms to read and categorise the data. RESULTS From 960 unique articles, 123 went through full-text review and 54 were deemed eligible. 75.9 % used only manual content analysis methods to analyse the qualitative responses, 16.7 % of studies used a combination of manual and automated methods, and only 7.4 % used exclusively automated methods. Automated methods were used in 27.5 % of studies published 2019-2023, compared to 14.3 % of studies published 2013-2018. All bar one study using automated methods focused on investigating the validity of the automated methodology or used it to complement manual content analysis. CONCLUSION The studies included in this review show a transition from traditional time-consuming manual analyses to computerised methods enabling analysis at a larger scale. As the volume of PREMs data collected grows, efficient and effective ways to analyse qualitative PREMs data at scale are required to enable health services to capture the patient voice and drive consumer-centred improvements in care.

Abstract
Introduction Oral medicine (OM) care occupies a significant quantity of oral and maxillofacial surgery (OMFS) outpatient clinical time. This survey aims to examine the current provision of OM care in OMFS units and explore opinions on how to improve the delivery of OM services across Scotland.Method An anonymous online questionnaire was distributed to all (33) OMFS consultants in Scotland. A range of questions were asked, covering place of work, formal OM training, proportion of time spent delivering OM clinical care, referral practices and support for a managed clinical network (MCN) in Scotland.Results A total of 18 (55%) OMFS consultants completed the survey. The majority of respondents (72%) worked in a university teaching hospital (UTH) setting. While none of the respondents were on the OM specialist register, most (72%) had received formal training in OM during their OMFS specialty training. Time dedicated to OM in outpatient clinics varied between less than 20% and 20-40% of clinical time. The majority of respondents (50%) referred 1-2 patients per month to OM. Most OMFS consultants (72%) felt that local OM services should be expanded and 78% would support the inclusion of OM specialists as part of the OMFS outpatient clinic team.Conclusion This study highlights the significant contribution to OM care within OMFS units in Scotland and emphasises the need for close collaboration between specialties. There is support for OM specialists to form part of the OMFS clinical team in UTHs or district general hospitals. Additionally, there is widespread support for the development of a MCN model of OM care in Scotland.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Teledentistry is applied in oral medicine to help dental practitioners and specialists manage complex oral conditions. This scoping review aims to synthesize the available evidence regarding the technical requirements and the provision of security services, as well as the recommendations on standard oral cavity photography methods for using teledentistry in oral medicine. METHOD The present scoping review was conducted in 2022 according to the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) manual. Four databases were systematically searched, including ISI Web of Science, PubMed, Scopus, and ProQuest, from January 1999 to December 2021. After finalizing the search strategy, all the original articles, reviews, editorials, letters, comments, and book chapters were included. All the dissertations uploaded in English with a full-text electronic file were also included to achieve a comprehensive picture of the available literature. Two types of analysis were applied: the quantitative descriptive analysis applying Excel 2016 and the qualitative thematic analysis using MAXQDA version 10. RESULTS The included papers were published during 1999-2021. Most of the included articles were from Brazil (n = 9, 21.43%), India (n = 6, 14.28%), the USA (n = 6, 14.28%), and the UK (n = 5, 11.90%). Social media usage as a teledentistry platform increased considerably between 2019 and 2021. Teledentistry platforms have been classified into four categories, including email, telephone, social network applications (WhatsApp, zoom, Google Meeting, Instagram, line Application, Viber, and Messenger), and teledentistry systems (teledentistry systems, which were designed specially to perform a teledentistry project). Teledentistry has been conducted to store and forward (n = 15, 30.71%), real-time (n = 9, 21.43%), or both (n = 12, 35.71%). According to the thematic results, basic technical requirements have been categorized into four, including teledentistry platform, type of interactions, internet connection, and photography tool. Other thematic results demonstrate seven categories of recommendations, including general factors, light, patient position, phone position, setting of a mobile phone camera, photo sending requirements, and photo visualization. CONCLUSION According to the results, over the past 7 years, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic, social network applications such as WhatsApp and Zoom have been used more frequently. Also, photography recommendations with a mobile phone camera depend on several factors such as general factors, light, patient position, phone position, setting of the mobile phone camera, and photo-sending requirements. Given the increased use of mobile cameras for oral photography, these recommendations can help improve the quality of images and subsequently improve the reliability of clinical decision-making in managing patients' conditions.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The onset of COVID-19 has caused an international upheaval of traditional in-person approaches to care delivery. Rapid system-level transitions to virtual care provision restrict the ability of healthcare professionals to evaluate care quality from the patient's perspective. This poses challenges to ensuring that patient-centered care is upheld within virtual environments. To address this, the study's objective was to review how virtual care has impacted patient experiences and outcomes during COVID-19, through the use of patient-reported experience and outcome measures (PREMs and PROMs), respectively. METHODS A systematic review was conducted in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analysis guidelines to evaluate patient responsiveness to virtual care during COVID-19. Using an exhaustive search strategy, relevant peer-reviewed articles published between January 2020 and 2022 were pulled from MEDLINE, CINAHL, EMBASE, and PsychInfo databases. Study quality was independently assessed by two reviewers using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool. A patient partner was consulted throughout the study to provide feedback and co-conduct the review. RESULTS After removing duplicates, 6048 articles underwent title and abstract review, from which 644 studies were included in the full-text review stage. Following this, 102 articles were included in the study. Studies were published in 20 different countries, were predominantly cross-sectional, and reported on the delivery of virtual care in specialized adult outpatient settings. This review identified 29 validated PREMs and 43 PROMs. Several advantages to virtual care were identified, with patients citing greater convenience, (such as saving travel time and cost, less waiting experienced to see care providers) and increased protection from viral spread. Some studies also reported challenges patients and caregivers faced with virtual care, including feeling rushed during the virtual care appointment, lack of physical contact or examination presenting barriers, difficulty with communicating symptoms, and technology issues. CONCLUSION This review provides supportive evidence of virtual care experiences during the COVID-19 pandemic from patient and caregiver perspectives. This research provides a comprehensive overview of what patient-reported measures can be used to record virtual care quality amid and following the pandemic. Further research into healthcare professionals' perspectives would offer a supportive lens toward a strong person-centered healthcare system.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Tele-dentistry has been increasingly used for different purposes of visit, consultation, triage, screening, and training in oral medicine. This study aims to determine the main facilitators, barriers, and participants` viewpoints of applying tele-dentistry in oral medicine and develop a framework indicating the input, process, output, and feedback. METHOD This was a scoping review conducted in 2022 applying Arksey and O'Malley (2005) approach. Four databases including ISI web of science, PubMed, Scopus, and ProQuest were searched from January 1999 to December 2021. Inclusion criteria consisted of all original and non-original articles (reviews, editorials, letters, comments, and book chapters), and dissertations in English with a full text electronic file. Excel2016 was used for descriptive quantitative analysis and MAXQDA version 10 was applied for qualitative thematic analysis. A thematic framework was developed customizing the results of the review in a virtual mini expert panel. RESULTS Descriptive results show that among 59 included articles, 27 (46%) have addressed the various applications of tele-dentistry during COVID-19 pandemic in the field of oral medicine. From geographical distribution perspective, most of the papers were published in Brazil (n = 13)/ 22.03%, India (n = 7)/11.86% and USA (n = 6)/10.17%. Thematic analysis shows that seven main themes of "information", "skill", "human resource", 'technical", "administrative', 'financial', and 'training and education' are explored as facilitators. 'Individual', 'environmental', 'organizational', 'regulation', 'clinical', and 'technical barriers' are also identified as main barriers of tele-dentistry in oral medicine. CONCLUSION According to the results for using tele-dentistry services in oral medicine, a diverse category of facilitators should be considered and at the same time, different barriers should be managed. Users` satisfaction and perceived usefulness of tele-dentistry as final outcomes can be increased considering the system`s feedback and applying facilitator incentives as well as decreasing the barriers.

KNOWLEDGE TRANSFER STATEMENT This article discusses innovations in technology and treatments that have enormous potential to revolutionize our dental care, including novel concepts in electronic health records, communication between dentists and patients, biologics around diagnosis and treatment, digital dentistry, and, finally, the real-time optimization of information technology. The early implementation and validation of these innovations can drive down their costs and provide better dental and medical services to all members of our society.

Abstract
Background: For the past two and half years, dentists all across the world, along with their patients, have faced numerous challenges. In this context, the aim of this integrative review was to assess if dentists’ and patients’ attitudes regarding teledentistry (TD) have changed since the COVID-19 outbreak, and if the use of TD will continue to rise, even in the post-pandemic period; (2) Methods: A literature search was performed between August 2021 and January 2022. The PubMed, Scopus, and Science Direct databases were searched for articles published between 2012 and 2022 using a combination of the following Mesh terms: “COVID-19”, “pandemic”, “oral telemedicine”, “teledentistry”; (3) Results: Among the 52 included papers, nine papers were published between 2011 and 2019, and 43 articles were published after 2020 (12 were published in 2020, 29 papers were published in 2021, and two in 2022). Among the articles published before 2020, seven out of nine included papers were reviews, and two were original research. Among the 43 papers published after 2020, 18 were reviews and 25 original research. (4) Conclusions: Based on the results of this integrative review, there is clear evidence that the interest in teledentistry and teleassistance in the dental field has increased rapidly, especially in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, while dental practitioners should be encouraged to keep themselves updated about new technologies, patients should also be constantly informed about their options for receiving special oral health care.

Abstract
Introduction Health seeking behavior is any activity undertaken by individuals who find themselves with a health-related problem with the aim of seeking an appropriate remedy. It includes decision making that is not homogenous among all as it is determined by different demographic factors. Self-medication and alternative medicine are also choices made by an individual that comes under health care seeking behavior. This study aimed to put light on the health seeking behavior of undergraduate medical students and to assess how they deal with their illnesses, including the practise of self-medication. Methods In this web-based cross-sectional study, conducted among undergraduate medical students, a total of 210 students were selected through a systematic sampling method. The data were analyzed using SPSS version 20. Frequency was calculated for all the variables. The Mann-Whitney U or Kruskal-Wallis H test was used to see if any difference existed in the response. A significant association was declared at a p-value less than 0.05. Results Response from 208 respondents was received and among those 88.9% of the respondents were aware of physical, mental and social aspects of health; about 40.8% of the respondents sought help only when their symptoms got worse; while 27.4% of them sought the help of alternative medicine. Around 74.2% of the respondents took medicines without a proper prescription and the commonly self-medicated drug group was NSAIDs. Conclusions The knowledge of medical science has not satisfactorily ensured better health-seeking behavior and good practices. Also, there is high prevalence of self-medication practice among medical students.

Abstract
This article details the unusual presentation of an oral squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) referred to secondary care during the COVID-19 pandemic. The patient's chief complaints were trismus and pain from a lower left partially erupted third molar, which was assumed to be pericoronitis-related on referral. Intra-oral examination was difficult due to the patient's symptoms, but radiographic assessment of an orthopantomogram (OPG) showed a pathological fracture and poorly defined radiolucency in the lower left third molar region. Oral SCC was diagnosed after biopsy, and surgery and radiotherapy were swiftly carried out despite COVID-19 restrictions. General dental practitioners (GDPs) remain the frontline healthcare professionals in the screening and detection of oral cancer through detailed history taking and examinations. Primary care dental practitioners should always remain vigilant with patients at risk of oral cancer. Prompt referral to secondary care for further investigations and management should be made when a suspicion of oral malignancy is raised, to ensure a better treatment outcome. Video consultations have had their merits in dentistry amid the coronavirus pandemic, but face-to-face consultations are essential to establish quality patient care.
