This study has important public health impacts on informal caregivers in a European context. The study reveals that the European countries of Alzheimer Europe - especially policymakers, social and healthcare providers and non-government organizations - should update or prepare the necessary national dementia strategies, promote benchlearning, improve international collaboration and systematically manage those who provide psychosocial support.
