Abstract
BACKGROUND Current chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) assessment tools mostly have poor sensitivity and weak anti-interference, so that it is sometimes difficult to provide substantive guidance for clinical intervention. This study aimed to develop an assessment tool dedicated for oxaliplatin to address these limitations. METHODS This study screened 445 OIPN-related literatures for producing a symptom list, and developed the questionnaire module through expert supplement, item generation, content correlation analysis, pre-testing, and item improvement. The validation phase used a Chinese population-based prospective cohort study from June 2021 to July 2022. Patients were requested to complete the tested questionnaire, QLQ-CIPN20 and the CTCAE grading one day before cycles 2-6 of chemotherapy. Cronbach's α coefficient and intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) were calculated for the internal consistency and stability analysis, respectively. Exploratory factor analysis was conducted to investigate the construct validity. The correlations among the tested questionnaire, QLQ-CIPN20 and CTCAE were compared for the criterion validity analysis. Wilcoxon signed-rank sum test was utilized to compare the sensitivity between the tested questionnaire and QLQ-CIPN20. RESULT A 20-item CIPN assessment tool named chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy integrated assessment - oxaliplatin subscale (CIPNIA-OS) was developed. The validation phase included 186 patients. Cronbach's α coefficient of CIPNIA-OS was 0.764 (> 0.7), and ICC was 0.997 (between 0.9 and 1). The structure of CIPNIA-OS containing seven factors was examined. The correlation coefficient between CIPNIA-OS and CTCAE was 0.661 (95%CI 0.623 to 0.695), which was significantly higher than that between QLQ-CIPN20 and CTCAE (0.417, 95%CI 0.363 to 0.469, p < 0.01). Besides, the total score of CIPNIA-OS was mostly higher than QLQ-CIPN20, with an average difference of 2.189 (CI 95% 2.056 to 2.322), and the difference gradually expanded with the progress of chemotherapy (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION This study developed an original CIPN questionnaire which was dedicated for OIPN assessment. It was a comprehensive tool that covered acute OIPN symptoms and integrated features from several proven CIPN assessment tools. The validation results supported that CIPNIA-OS had satisfactory reliability, stability, construct, criterion validity, and was more accuracy and sensitive than QLQ-CIPN20 in the evaluation of OIPN.

Abstract
PURPOSE Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy is an unpleasant symptom experienced by most cancer survivors who receive neurotoxic chemotherapy. It is not life threatening; however, it impairs sensorimotor skills, thereby interfering with daily activities and reducing the quality of life. Healthcare providers are becoming increasingly aware of the significance of its management. Nonetheless, a lack of understanding remains. This study aimed to understand the experience of cancer survivors with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. DATA SOURCES The selection and search for relevant literature conformed to the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Review and Meta-analysis Protocols guidelines. Four databases were searched for literature exploring the experiences of cancer survivors with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy. Moreover, articles from reference lists were retrieved. Of 969 collected articles, 13 qualitative studies were included. The seven-step meta-ethnography developed by Noblits and Hare was used to analyze and synthesize selected studies. This study complied with the enhancing transparency in reporting the synthesis of qualitative research guidelines. CONCLUSION Three themes ("Tough and challenging life with chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy," "Being patient in a chaotic life," and "Transition to a new way of life") and six subthemes were derived after reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing selected study findings. They faced difficult daily challenges and endured psychologically chaotic moments; however, they gradually learned to live with the symptoms and adapted their way of life. IMPLICATIONS FOR NURSING PRACTICE This review emphasizes the importance of the need for personalized nursing interventions promoting self-management and new adaptation strategies for gaining better understanding of chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy.

Impact of Chemotherapy-Induced Peripheral Neuropathy on Quality of Life in Patients with Advanced Lung Cancer Receiving Platinum-Based Chemotherapy. Abstract
Chemotherapy-induced peripheral neuropathy (CIPN) is a common adverse effect of neurotoxic anticancer drugs that may affect quality of life (QoL). Purpose: The purposes of this study were to: assess the levels of CIPN, anxiety, depression, CIPN–related QoL, and general QoL; and identify the factors related to CIPN–related QoL and general QoL in patients with advanced lung cancer (LC) receiving platinum-based chemotherapy. This cross-sectional study examined patients with advanced LC who received platinum-based chemotherapy from the thoracic oncology inpatient wards of a medical center in northern Taiwan. Structured questionnaires were used to measure patients’ CIPN (European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer quality of life questionnaire–chemotherapy–induced peripheral neuropathy 20), anxiety (Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale Depression Scale [HADS]), depression (HADS), CIPN-related QoL (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy /Gynecologic Oncology Group-Neurotoxicity subscale [FACT/GOG–Ntx]), and general QoL (Functional Assessment of Cancer Therapy–General Input [FACT-G]). Of 93 patients with advanced LC, 53.8% reported CIPN–sensory impairment and 47.3% reported CIPN–motor impairment. The most common CIPN symptoms were difficulty getting or maintaining an erection (only for men > 65 years) and difficulty in climbing stairs or getting up out of a chair. Poor CIPN–related QoL (FACT/GOG–Ntx) was associated with more CIPN–sensory and more CIPN–motor impairment. Poor general QoL (FACT-G) was associated with a higher level of depression, a higher level of anxiety, and receipt of more chemotherapy cycles. More than half of LC patients report impairment related to CIPN, calling for holistic treatment to improve QoL.
