Abstract
Infantile hemangioma (IH), the most common vascular tumor in pediatrics, is thought to arise from aberrant stem cell responses to stimuli such as hypoxia. This review explores the diverse manifestations, complications, and management strategies for IH, emphasizing the importance of a multidisciplinary approach. The epidemiology and risk factors associated with IH, including connections to prematurity, low birth weight, and family background, are discussed. The intricate pathogenesis involving hemangioma stem cells, KIAA1429, hypoxia, and the renin-angiotensin system is examined. The natural history and clinical features, as well as extracutaneous involvements such as hepatic IH, PHACES syndrome, and LUMBAR syndrome, are detailed. Complications such as ulceration, functional impairment, hypothyroidism, and cosmetic concerns are highlighted. The differential diagnosis and diagnostic modalities, including colorimeters, high-frequency ultrasonography, and imaging techniques, are discussed. Management approaches, including the use of propranolol, atenolol, corticosteroids, alternative systemic treatments, topical therapy, laser therapy, and surgery, are comprehensively reviewed. The evolving landscape of IH management is underscored, with ongoing research exploring alternative treatments and individualized approaches based on IH characteristics.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Infantile hemangioma with minimal or arrested growth (IHMAG) is an unusual subset of infantile hemangioma, difficult to recognize because they are often mistaken for capillary malformation or other entities. Dermoscopic features of IHMAG have been described only in small case series so far. OBJECTIVES The aim of our study was to evaluate epidemiological, clinical, and dermoscopic features in 79 cases of IHMAG with a specific focus on neonates and toddlers with segmental complicated IHMAG and to provide a remarkable dermoscopic criterion to achieve diagnosis. METHODS This case series collected all the cases of IHMAG recorded in our Clinical Registry from January 2012 to March 2022. RESULTS A total of 79 cases of IHMAG were identified in our study; 53 (67.1%) were localized and 26 (32.9 %) were segmental. Patients showed some complications during follow-up such as ulceration and soft tissue anomalies. One PHACE syndrome and two LUMBAR syndromes were included. Our study highlights the main dermoscopic features differentiating IHMAG from infantile hemangiomas and capillary malformations in neonatal patients, highlighting the presence of enlarged unfocused telangiectatic vessels as remarkable clues. CONCLUSIONS This is a large case series described in the literature about this rare entity. We emphasize that segmental IHMAG may be associated with structural abnormalities and may pose a diagnostic challenge especially in its rare facial segmental localization. The use of dermoscopy allowed us to find typical signs for IHMAG, thus avoiding the execution of invasive methods and ensuring the prompt suspicion of a syndrome in segmental neonatal cases.

Abstract
Infantile hemangioma (IH) is a benign vascular tumor that occurs in 5% of newborns. The tumor follows a life cycle of rapid proliferation in infancy, followed by slow involution in childhood. This unique life cycle has attracted the interest of basic and clinical scientists alike as a paradigm for vasculogenesis, angiogenesis, and vascular regression. Unanswered questions persist about the genetic and molecular drivers of the proliferating and involuting phases. The beta blocker propranolol usually accelerates regression of problematic IHs, yet its mechanism of action on vascular proliferation and differentiation is unclear. Some IHs fail to respond to beta blockers and regrow after discontinuation. Side effects occur and long-term sequelae of propranolol treatment are unknown. This poses clinical challenges and raises novel questions about the mechanisms of vascular overgrowth in IH.

Abstract
The purpose of the study is to describe the experience of a multidisciplinary team in a tertiary hospital regarding the management of Infantile Hemangiomas (IH). The method employed is a retrospective analysis of patients with IH followed in a tertiary pediatric hospital between January 2010 and May 2022. A total of 393 IH were diagnosed (56.7% female), with a median age of 5 months (interquartile range (IQR), 3-10). Imaging investigation was necessary for diagnosis and for exclusion of other IH in 9.2% and 14.3%, respectively. Focal (74.0%) and superficial (59.7%) lesions were more frequent as was facial location (35.9%). Pre-treatment ulceration or hemorrhage occurred in 6.6%. At follow-up, 87.4% regressed partially and 12.6% completely; 2.7% relapsed. Propranolol was started in 30.0% of cases for a median period of 9 months (IQR, 6-12), mainly due to esthetic concerns (41.9%). Side effects occurred in 8.3% (sleep disturbance in 5.1%). Only 1.7% were refractory and 5.9% had a rebound effect. Eleven patients were treated with topical timolol and 41 underwent surgery. Patients that were treated with propranolol had more risk factors (p = 0.016) and presented deeper lesions (p < 0.001) with a larger diameter (p < 0.001); total IH regression was less frequent (p < 0.001). Since 2020, twice-daily dosage was more frequently prescribed than three times daily (p = 0.007) and inpatient initiation of propranolol decreased (p = 0.750), without significant difference in the incidence of adverse reactions, duration of treatment, and lesion evolution. Conclusions: Our protocol proved to be safe and feasible in an outpatient setting and twice daily administration of propranolol was effective. The majority of IH showed at least partial regression. Early detection of high-risk IH is paramount and a multidisciplinary assessment by a specialized team is essential for adequate management. What is Known: • IH are the most common vascular tumors in childhood. What is New: • One-third of our sample was treated with propranolol. These patients had more risk factors and presented deeper lesions with a larger diameter, and tumor total regression was less frequent. • Our results reinforce safety and feasibility of propranolol initiation in an outpatient setting, including twice daily dosage.

Abstract
Segmental infantile hemangiomas affecting the upper body are associated with PHACE(S) (Posterior fossa anomalies, Hemangioma, Arterial anomalies, Cardiac anomalies, Eye anomalies, and Sternal defects) syndrome, whereas segmental infantile hemangiomas affecting the lower body are the cutaneous hallmark of LUMBAR (Lower body hemangioma and other skin defects, Urogenital anomalies and Ulceration, Myelopathy, Bony deformities, Anorectal malformations and Arterial anomalies, and Renal anomalies) syndrome. We present two individuals with concurrent features of both PHACE and LUMBAR syndromes demonstrating an overlap phenotype. The overlapping features seen in our patients suggest that these syndromes occur on the same phenotypic spectrum and derive from a common embryonic pathophysiology.

Abstract
Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) are common vascular lesions which are benign but can cause significant functional and cosmetic morbidity. Since the fortuitous discovery of propranolol being effective to treat IH over a decade ago, the therapy and prognosis for children with IH have improved dramatically. Oral propranolol (as well as other oral beta-blockers and topical timolol) are safe and effective treatments, and have now supplanted other therapies. Making the correct diagnosis is crucial, because other vascular lesions can mimic IH. In addition, IH can be the first manifestation of an underlying syndrome. For IH requiring treatment, initiating treatment early is key to optimizing success. Therefore, early recognition and referral, if necessary, are important. Continued research on IH, both basic science and clinical, should result in continued advances.

Abstract
The International Society for the Study of Vascular Anomalies classifies vascular anomalies into vascular tumors and vascular malformations. Vascular tumors are neoplasms of endothelial cells, among which infantile hemangiomas (IHs) are the most common, occurring in 5%-10% of infants. Glucose transporter-1 protein expression in IHs differs from that of other vascular tumors or vascular malformations. IHs are not present at birth but are usually diagnosed at 1 week to 1 month of age, rapidly proliferate between 1 and 3 months of age, mostly complete proliferation by 5 months of age, and then slowly involute to the adipose or fibrous tissue. Approximately 10% of IH cases require early treatment. The 2019 American Academy of Pediatrics clinical practice guideline for the management of IHs recommends that primary care clinicians frequently monitor infants with IHs, educate the parents about the clinical course, and refer infants with high-risk IH to IH specialists ideally at 1 month of age. High-risk IHs include those with life-threatening complications, functional impairment, ulceration, associated structural anomalies, or disfigurement. In Korea, IHs are usually treated by pediatric hematology-oncologists with the cooperation of pediatric cardiologists, radiologists, dermatologists, and plastic surgeons. Oral propranolol, a nonselective beta-adrenergic antagonist, is the first-line treatment for IHs at a dosage of 2-3 mg/kg/day divided into 2 daily doses maintained for at least 6 months and often continuing until 12 months of age. Topical timolol maleate solution, a topical nonselective beta-blocker, may be used for small superficial type IHs at a dosage of 1-2 drops of 0.5% gel-forming ophthalmic solution applied twice daily. Pulse-dye laser therapy or surgery is useful for the treatment of residual skin changes after IH involution.

Abstract
Background A minority of infantile hemangiomas showing minimal or arrested growth (IH-MAGs) have been recognized in the literature. Nevertheless, the clinical features and treatment outcomes of IH-MAGs have not been well investigated. Objective This study aimed to understand the clinical characteristics of IH-MAGs better and their response to treatment with topical timolol maleate. Methods We retrospectively reviewed medical records and clinical images of patients with IH-MAGs. Treatment response with topical timolol was assessed in both IH-MAGs and classic infantile hemangiomas (IHs) groups. Results Of the 1,038 patients with IHs, only 31 (3.0%) were diagnosed with IH-MAGs. Lesions with non-proliferative components were more frequently distributed in the lower half of the body (61.5%) than those with proliferative components (16.7%). In 14 patients treated with topical timolol, the global assessment scale showed more significant and rapid improvement than in those with classic IHs. Conclusion Although the prevalence of IH-MAGs may be relatively low, understanding their clinical features will help in differential diagnosis. Furthermore, these type of lesions might be more responsive to topical timolol than classic IHs.

Abstract
Infantile hemangioma (IH) is the most common pediatric vascular tumor. Its pathogenesis is poorly understood but thought to represent an aberrant response of pluripotent stem cells to stimuli such as hypoxia and the renin-angiotensin-system. IH usually appears during the first few weeks of life and follows a characteristic natural trajectory of proliferation and involution. Their clinical appearance depends on their depth and distribution. Classification comprises superficial, mixed and deep IH as well as IH with minimal or arrested growth. Multifocal IHs are more likely to be associated with infantile hepatic hemangioma, and although the need for screening based on a specific number of IH has been recently debated, 5 remains the most widely acceptable cut off point. Large facial or lumbar IH warrants investigation for PHACE and LUMBAR syndrome, respectively. Complications of IH include ulceration, obstruction or functional impairment, hypothyroidism, and cosmetic sequelae. Differential diagnoses mostly consist of other vascular tumors and vascular malformations, though IH may sometimes mimic non-vascular tumors or developmental anomalies. Diagnosis is usually clinical and biopsy rarely indicated. High-frequency ultrasonography may help with the differential diagnosis, particularly with subcutaneous lesions. Referral to other specialists may be required in specific cases.

Abstract
Infantile hemangiomas (IH) are a common benign tumor of infancy, most being uncomplicated and not requiring therapy. Some IH may require treatment; the pediatric provider must be familiar with morphology, distribution, natural history, and associations of IH. Several treatment options are available for IH: current standard of care, oral propranolol. Other therapies include wound care; topical beta-blocker therapy for small, superficial, and uncomplicated IH; treatment of IH residua. In addition to functional compromise and other complications, potential for permanent deformity and eventual psychosocial stigmatization are important when considering the need for treatment of IH in a neonate or infant.

Abstract
BACKGROUND/OBJECTIVES Infantile hemangiomas (IH) with minimal or arrested growth (MAG) constitute a distinctive subset of IH based on their clinical characteristics and natural history. They are often confused with capillary malformations. METHODS A retrospective observational study has been carried out in which clinical and perinatal characteristics have been evaluated in all IH-MAG evaluated in our Dermatology Department in a 5-year period (January 2013-December 2017). RESULTS A total of 14 IH-MAG affecting 13 patients were identified (10 girls and 3 boys). All were born full term, with a mean birth weight of 3448 g for girls vs 3540 g for boys, corresponding to the 72nd percentile for both sexes. The IH-MAG was noticed at birth in 75% of cases. It had a segmental distribution in 6 cases and focal in 8. The most common clinical features was the presence of an erythematous or reticulated background and superficial red bright papules. Lesions were located preferentially in the lower body. Doppler ultrasound showed no significant vascular abnormalities in any case. Five IH-MAG developed ulcerations and three required treatment with propranolol. Progressive involution was observed in all cases. CONCLUSIONS In spite of being a true IH, the absence of a relationship with prematurity, the high birth weight of the newborns, the predominance on the extremities, the higher percentage of segmental lesions, and their reduced ability to proliferate suggest possible etiopathogenic differences compared with conventional IH.

Abstract
Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) occur in as many as 5% of infants, making them the most common benign tumor of infancy. Most IHs are small, innocuous, self-resolving, and require no treatment. However, because of their size or location, a significant minority of IHs are potentially problematic. These include IHs that may cause permanent scarring and disfigurement (eg, facial IHs), hepatic or airway IHs, and IHs with the potential for functional impairment (eg, periorbital IHs), ulceration (that may cause pain or scarring), and associated underlying abnormalities (eg, intracranial and aortic arch vascular abnormalities accompanying a large facial IH). This clinical practice guideline for the management of IHs emphasizes several key concepts. It defines those IHs that are potentially higher risk and should prompt concern, and emphasizes increased vigilance, consideration of active treatment and, when appropriate, specialty consultation. It discusses the specific growth characteristics of IHs, that is, that the most rapid and significant growth occurs between 1 and 3 months of age and that growth is completed by 5 months of age in most cases. Because many IHs leave behind permanent skin changes, there is a window of opportunity to treat higher-risk IHs and optimize outcomes. Early intervention and/or referral (ideally by 1 month of age) is recommended for infants who have potentially problematic IHs. When systemic treatment is indicated, propranolol is the drug of choice at a dose of 2 to 3 mg/kg per day. Treatment typically is continued for at least 6 months and often is maintained until 12 months of age (occasionally longer). Topical timolol may be used to treat select small, thin, superficial IHs. Surgery and/or laser treatment are most useful for the treatment of residual skin changes after involution and, less commonly, may be considered earlier to treat some IHs.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infantile hemangioma (IH) is a common benign vascular tumor in children. In most cases, diagnosis is based entirely on clinical examination. When the diagnosis is uncertain, the first-line complementary examination is Doppler ultrasound. We report 4 cases of atypical infantile hemangiomas with delayed diagnosis and non-contributory imaging. PATIENTS AND METHODS One child had congenital purple papules and nodules on the back of the foot, the second had inaugural ulceration of the buttocks, and the last two presented telangiectasia, either isolated or on an erythematous macula. In two cases, ultrasound showed no vascular lesions, and in the other two cases, the absence of hyperemia did not allow a diagnosis of IH to be made. For one patient, diagnosis was made on the basis of cutaneous biopsy, and for the other three, on the basis of clinical course. DISCUSSION We report 4 rare forms of infantile hemangioma resulting in initial diagnostic error. The atypical nature of some IHs may direct the clinician and the radiologist toward other diagnoses that in some cases have no vascular contingent. It is important for the dermatologist to be aware of these rare forms of IH in order to reduce the time to diagnosis and allow early initiation of appropriate management.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infantile hemangiomas with minimal or arrested growth are vascular tumors with a proliferative component involving < 25% of their total surface area. They are commonly described as localized lesions and are mainly located on the lower body. Little has been described about segmental forms on the face and their associations with PHACE syndrome. METHODS We carried out a multicenter, retrospective, case-series study involving 5 hospitals in Spain. Information was collected on cases of PHACE syndrome featuring infantile hemangiomas with minimal or arrested growth. RESULTS The frontotemporal and maxillary areas were the most frequently involved sites in our series. The upper eyelid and upper lip were the 2 locations most frequently associated with proliferation and ulceration. Four patients experienced spontaneous resolution, and the rest had a very good cosmetic outcome with oral treatment. Cerebral and cervical arterial anomalies were the most frequent extracutaneous findings associated with PHACE, followed by cerebral and ocular anomalies. Some unique associated disorders were fructose intolerance and retinoblastoma. CONCLUSION We present the largest case series of segmental facial infantile hemangiomas with minimal or arrested growth in PHACE syndrome and emphasize the importance of recognizing these lesions in early infancy, because they can indicate PHACE syndrome. The data presented suggest that infantile hemangiomas with minimal or arrested growth-associated PHACE syndrome does not seem to differ significantly from PHACE syndrome with classic infantile hemangiomas, and thus the same recommendations for diagnosis, management, and therapy should be followed. Future studies with more patients could contribute to enlighten this specific subset.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infantile haemangiomas (previously known as strawberry birthmarks) are soft, raised swellings of the skin that occur in 3% to 10% of infants. These benign vascular tumours are usually uncomplicated and tend to regress spontaneously. However, when haemangiomas occur in high-risk areas, such as near the eyes, throat, or nose, impairing their function, or when complications develop, intervention may be necessary. This is an update of a Cochrane Review first published in 2011. OBJECTIVES To assess the effects of interventions for the management of infantile haemangiomas in children. SEARCH METHODS We updated our searches of the following databases to February 2017: the Cochrane Skin Group Specialised Register, CENTRAL, MEDLINE, Embase, PsycINFO, AMED, LILACS, and CINAHL. We also searched five trials registries and checked the reference lists of included studies for further references to relevant trials. SELECTION CRITERIA Randomised controlled trials (RCTs) of all types of interventions, versus placebo, active monitoring, or other interventions, in any child with single or multiple infantile haemangiomas (IHs) located on the skin. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS We used standard methodological procedures expected by Cochrane. The primary outcome measures were clearance, a subjective measure of improvement, and adverse events. Secondary outcomes were other measures of resolution; proportion of parents or children who consider there is still a problem; aesthetic appearance; and requirement for surgical correction. We used GRADE to assess the quality of the evidence for each outcome; this is indicated in italics. MAIN RESULTS We included 28 RCTs, with a total of 1728 participants, assessing 12 different interventions, including lasers, beta blockers (e.g. propranolol, timolol maleate), radiation therapy, and steroids. Comparators included placebo, an active monitoring approach, sham radiation, and interventions given alone or in combination.Studies were conducted in a number of countries, including China, Egypt, France, and Australia. Participant age ranged from 12 weeks to 13.4 years. Most studies (23/28) included a majority of females and different types of IHs. Duration of follow-up ranged from 7 days to 72 months.We considered most of the trials as at low risk of random sequence generation, attrition bias, and selective reporting bias. Domains such as allocation concealment and blinding were not clearly reported in general. We downgraded evidence for issues related to risk of bias and imprecision.We report results for the three most important comparisons, which we chose on the basis of current use. Outcome measurement of these comparisons was at 24 weeks' follow-up.Oral propranolol versus placeboCompared with placebo, oral propranolol 3 mg/kg/day probably improves clinician-assessed clearance (risk ratio (RR) 16.61, 95% confidence interval (CI) 4.22 to 65.34; 1 study; 156 children; moderate-quality evidence) and probably leads to a clinician-assessed reduction in mean haemangioma volume of 45.9% (95% CI 11.60 to 80.20; 1 study; 40 children; moderate-quality evidence). We found no evidence of a difference in terms of short- or long-term serious adverse events (RR 1.05, 95% CI 0.33 to 3.39; 3 studies; 509 children; low-quality evidence), nor in terms of bronchospasm, hypoglycaemia, or serious cardiovascular adverse events. The results relating to clearance and resolution for this comparison were based on one industry-sponsored study.Topical timolol maleate versus placeboThe chance of reduction of redness, as a measure of clinician-assessed resolution, may be improved with topical timolol maleate 0.5% gel applied twice daily when compared with placebo (RR 8.11, 95% CI 1.09 to 60.09; 1 study; 41 children;low-quality evidence). Regarding short- or long-term serious cardiovascular events, we found no instances of bradycardia (slower than normal heart rate) or hypotension in either group (1 study; 41 children; low-quality evidence). No other safety data were assessed, and clearance was not measured.Oral propranolol versus topical timolol maleateWhen topical timolol maleate (0.5% eye drops applied twice daily) was compared with oral propranolol (via a tablet taken once per day, at a 1.0 mg/kg dose), there was no evidence of a difference in haemangioma size (as a measure of resolution) when measured by the proportion of patients with a clinician-assessed reduction of 50% or greater (RR 1.13, 95% CI 0.64 to 1.97; 1 study; 26 participants; low-quality evidence). Although there were more short- or long-term general adverse effects (such as severe diarrhoea, lethargy, and loss of appetite) in the oral propranolol group, there was no evidence of a difference between groups (RR 7.00, 95% CI 0.40 to 123.35; 1 study; 26 participants; very low-quality evidence). This comparison did not measure clearance.None of our key comparisons evaluated, at any follow-up, a subjective measure of improvement assessed by the parent or child; proportion of parents or children who consider there is still a problem; or physician-, child-, or parent-assessed aesthetic appearance. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS We found there to be a limited evidence base for the treatment of infantile haemangiomas: a large number of interventions and outcomes have not been assessed in RCTs.Our key results indicate that in the management of IH in children, oral propranolol and topical timolol maleate are more beneficial than placebo in terms of clearance or other measures of resolution, or both, without an increase in harms. We found no evidence of a difference between oral propranolol and topical timolol maleate with regard to reducing haemangioma size, but we are uncertain if there is a difference in safety. Oral propranolol is currently the standard treatment for this condition, and our review has not found evidence to challenge this. However, these results are based on moderate- to very low-quality evidence.The included studies were limited by small sample sizes and risk of bias in some domains. Future trials should blind personnel and participants; describe trials thoroughly in publications; and recruit a sufficient number of children to deduce meaningful results. Future trials should assess patient-reported outcomes, as well as objective outcomes of benefit, and should report adverse events comprehensively. Propranolol and timolol maleate require further assessment in RCTs of all types of IH, including those considered problematic, as do other lesser-used interventions and new interventions. All treatments should be compared against propranolol and timolol maleate, as beta blockers are approved as standard care.

Abstract
Infantile hemangiomas (IHs) with minimal or arrested growth differ from standard IHs in that they have a reduced or absent growth phase. An association between IHs with minimal or arrested growth and superimposed eczematous dermatitis has not been described in the literature. We present a case detailing this association in which an IH with minimal or arrested growth responded well to treatment with propranolol and the superimposed eczema cleared completely with topical hydrocortisone.

Abstract
This overview of mesenchymal tumors presenting in the skin and/or subcutis in children brings together the range of neoplasms and hamartomas which are seen in this age-group. It is not surprising from the perspective of the pediatric or general surgical pathologist that vascular anomalies, including true neoplasms and vascular malformations, are the common phenotypic category. Since there is considerable morphologic overlap among these lesions, clinicopathologic correlation may be more important than for many of the other mesenchymal tumors. The skin and subcutis are the most common sites of clinical presentation for the infantile myofibroma which is the most common of fibrous mesenchymal tumors in children. Several of the other mesenchymal tumors are more common adults-like dermatofibrosarcoma protuberans, but nonetheless have an important presence in children, even as a congenital neoplasm. A lipomatous tumor in a young child should be considered as a possible manifestation of an overgrowth syndrome.

Abstract
CASE We report a case of kaposiform hemangioendothelioma (KHE) of the scapula in a 2-year-old boy with motor and sensory abnormalities of the left upper extremity, suggesting brachial plexus involvement. The locally invasive nature prevented resection; sirolimus therapy resulted in improvement of the motor and sensory impairment, as well as decreased tumor size on imaging. CONCLUSION Osseous infiltration of KHE is known to occur, but its primary presentation in bone without skin involvement is rare and diagnostically challenging. Awareness of rare presentations of KHE, along with accurate histopathologic interpretation, is important to achieve a diagnosis and to differentiate KHE from more common vascular lesions (e.g., infantile hemangioma). Sirolimus therapy is emerging as a promising treatment for unresectable KHE.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Infantile hemangiomas with minimal or arrested growth (IH-MAGs) are characterized by a proliferative component of <25% of its surface area. The co-occurrence of IH-MAGs and soft tissue anomalies is rare, and case series of this association are lacking. OBJECTIVE We present 10 cases of IH-MAGs associated with soft tissue hypertrophy and describe their clinical features. METHODS We reviewed all infantile hemangiomas with minimal or arrested growth seen between 2009 and 2016 in the dermatology clinic department at Hospital Santa Creu i Sant Pau, Barcelona. To collect more patients, we also requested cases from the Hemangioma Investigator Group and members of the Spanish Society of Vascular Anomalies. RESULTS Ten patients had IH-MAGs associated with soft tissue hypertrophy; seven involving the arm and three involving the leg. All displayed a segmental pattern, a doughy and puffy texture and prominent surface veins. No significant asymmetries in limbs and no other visceral anomalies were observed at follow-up (range 15 months to 7 years). One patient reported coldness in the limb with infantile hemangioma, but RMI-angiography did not disclose a vascular malformation underneath the lesion. Ulceration was observed in three patients. The proliferative component in all IH-MAGs had faded at 1-year follow-up, while soft tissue hypertrophy and prominent vessels remained unchanged. CONCLUSIONS In this first case series of IH-MAGS associated with soft tissue hypertrophy, soft tissue hypertrophy was not progressive and remained unchanged over time, unlike the proliferative component of classic infantile hemangioma. The origin of the prominent vessels and the higher ulceration risk are unknown; however, these findings are probably related to a minor disruption of local vessels not detected in imaging tests.
