Abstract
OBJECTIVE Sleep disturbance is the most common concern of patients with schizophrenia and can lead to a poor prognosis, a low survival rate and aggressive behaviour, posing a significant threat to social security and stability. The aim of this study was to explore the mediating role of depression in the relationship between sleep disturbance and aggressive behaviour in people with schizophrenia living in the community, as well as the regulatory role of family intimacy and adaptability. These findings, in turn, may provide a theoretical basis and constructive suggestions for addressing the physical and mental health problems of these patients. METHOD From September 2020 to August 2021, a convenience sampling method was used to select schizophrenia patients from the community attending follow-up appointments at the Fourth People's Hospital of Pengzhou City, China. The researchers conducted a survey in the form of a star questionnaire. The survey included questions about general demographic data and disease-related questionnaires: the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), the revised Chinese version of the Modified Over Aggression Scale (MOAS), the Self-Rating Depression Scale (SDS), and the Family Adaptability and Cohesion Scale, Second Edition. FACES-II and SPSS 21.0 were used to organize and analyse the data. RESULTS A total of 818 schizophrenia patients living in the community participated in the survey, and 785 valid questionnaires were ultimately collected, for a response rate of 95.97%. The results of multivariate analysis indicated that sex, number of psychiatric medications used, outpatient follow-up, history of hospitalization for mental disorders and sleep disturbances were factors influencing aggressive behaviour. Depression played a partial mediating role between sleep disturbance and aggressive behaviour, and the indirect effect size was 0.043 (57.33% of the total). In addition to sleep disturbance, family intimacy (β=-0.009, P < 0.01) and adaptability (β=-0.145, P < 0.001) can significantly predict depression. CONCLUSION The findings indicate that sleep disturbance in schizophrenia patients in the community is a risk factor for aggressive behaviour, and depression plays a partial mediating role in the relationship among sleep disturbance, aggressive behaviour and family intimacy. In addition, adaptability plays a regulatory role in the relationship between depression and sleep disturbance.

Abstract
Aggression in schizophrenia patients is an issue of concern. Previous studies have shown that aggression in schizophrenia patients may be related to insomnia and quality of life to different extents. This study aimed to explore the potential mediating role of quality of life in the relationship between aggression and insomnia among schizophrenia patients. Demographic factors affecting aggression in schizophrenia patients were also explored. PATIENTS AND METHODS A total of 781 stable patients aged 18-75 who met the ICD10 diagnosis of "schizophrenia" completed the completed questionnaire. Aggression was assessed using the Modified Overt Aggression Scale (MOAS), sleep was assessed using the Insomnia Severity Index Scale (ISI), and quality of life was assessed using the five Likert options. Descriptive statistics and correlation analysis examined the correlation between aggression and other variables. The mediating role of quality of life in the association between insomnia and aggression was examined by pathway analysis. RESULTS A total of 781 patients participated in this study, and approximately 16 % of the schizophrenia patients were aggressive. According to the mediation analysis, the direct effect of insomnia on aggression was 0.147, and the mediating effect of quality of life on insomnia and aggression was 0.021. Specifically, for the four dimensions of the MOAS, the direct effects of insomnia on verbal aggression, aggression toward property, and aggression toward oneself were 0.028, 0.032, and 0.023, respectively, with mediating effects of 0.003, 0.007, and 0.006, respectively, and no mediating effect on physical aggression was found. CONCLUSION This study showed that insomnia significantly influenced aggression in schizophrenia patients. Quality of life significantly mediated insomnia and aggression and played a vital role in moderating aggression. Therefore, we suggest that in the future, improving aggression in schizophrenia patients, while paying attention to the importance of sleep, could start with improving quality of life to address this problem from multiple perspectives.

Abstract
Objective To assess the interplay among psychopathological symptoms and real-life functioning, and to further detect their influence with violent behavior in patient with schizophrenia. Methods A sample of 1,664 patients with post-violence assessments and their propensity score-matched controls without violence from a disease registration report system of community mental health service in Guangdong, China, were studied by network analysis. Ising-Model was used to estimate networks of psychopathological symptoms and real-life functioning. Then, we tested whether network properties indicated the patterns of interaction were different between cases and controls, and calculated centrality indices of each node to identify the central nodes. Sensitivity analysis was conducted to examine the difference of interaction patterns between pre-violence and post-violence assessments in violence cases. Results Some nodes in the same domain were highly positive interrelations, while psychopathological symptoms were negatively related to real-life functioning in all networks. Many symptom-symptom connections and symptom-functioning connections were disconnected after the violence. The network density decreased from 23.53% to 12.42% without statistical significance (p = 0.338). The network structure, the global network strength, and the global clustering coefficient decreased significantly after the violence (p < 0.001, p = 0.019, and p = 0.045, respectively). Real-life functioning had a higher node strength. The strength of sleeping, lack of spontaneity and flow of conversation, and preoccupation were decreased in post-violence network of patients. Conclusion The decreasing connectivity may indicate an increased risk of violence and early warning for detecting violence. Interventions and improving health state based on nodes with high strength might prevent violence in schizophrenia patients.

Abstract
Sleep disturbances are strongly linked with mental diseases such as substance use disorder (SUD) or schizophrenia (SZ) which can have a detrimental impact on quality of life (QOL), especially when both disorders are comorbid (dual disorder). In absence of studies about both circadian characteristics and QOL in patients with SUD and comorbid SZ (SUD + SZ), we examined a sample of 155 male under treatment, 75 with SUD + SZ and 80 only with SUD. Circadian functioning was evaluated by chronotype, social jet-lag and sleep quality (using the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index, PSQI), while the QOL was obtained by the World Health Organization's Quality of Life Questionnaire (WHOQOL)-BREF. SUD + SZ patients were more evening type than SUD, and this chronotype was linked to polydrug use in total sample and SUD + SZ group. We observed that the comorbidity did not lead to worse sleep quality in the SUD and SUD + SZ patients. QOL was poorer in SUD + SZ patients, who showed a negative association of Physical health, Psychological health and Social relationship with suicide attempts and severity of SZ. Lastly, patients with worse QOL also reported poorer sleep quality suggesting that treatment could include circadian adjustments along with a focused approach to lifestyle improvement.

Abstract
Background Violence to others (hereinafter referred to as "violence-TO") is common in individuals with schizophrenia. The reported prevalence of violence-TO among schizophrenics ranges widely in existing studies. Improved prevalence estimates and identification of moderators are needed to guide future management and research. Methods We searched EBSCO, EMBASE, Medline, PubMed, Science Direct, Web of Science, CNKI, VIP, WANFANG data, and CBM for relevant articles published before June 5, 2022. Meanwhile, violence-TO was summarized into four categories: (a) violence-TO on the reviews of official criminal or psychiatric records (type I); (b) less serious forms of violence-TO (type II); (c) physical acts causing demonstrable harm to victims (type III); (d) homicide (type IV). We did meta-analysis for the above types of violence-TO, respectively, and applied subgroup analyses and meta-regression analyses to investigate the source of heterogeneity. Results A total of 56 studies were eligible in this study and 34 of them were high-quality. The prevalence of type I to type IV in individuals with schizophrenia in China was 23.83% (95% CI: 18.38-29.75%), 23.16% (95% CI: 8.04-42.97%), 17.19% (95%CI: 8.52-28.04%), and 0.62% (95% CI: 0.08-1.54%) respectively. The results of the subgroup analysis showed that the prevalence of type I was higher among subjects in the inland than in the coastal non-economic zone, while the prevalence of type III was the highest in the coastal economic zone, followed by the inland region and the lowest in the coastal non-economic zone. The results of multivariate meta-regression analyses showed that: patient source in type I (β = 0.15, P < 0.01), patient source (β = 0.47, P < 0.01), and proportion of male (β = 0.19, P < 0.01) in type II, age (β = 0.25, P < 0.01), and GDP per capita (β = 0.05, P = 0.01) in type III were statistically significant. Conclusion The prevalence of different types of violence-TO and their influencing factors varied. Therefore, the authorities should take different management measures. In addition to individual factors, regional factors may also affect violence-TO, which suggests the need for a multi-sectorial approach to prevention and treatment for subjects in different regions and adopting targeted control strategies. Abstract
BACKGROUND Early to identify male schizophrenia patients with violence is important for the performance of targeted measures and closer monitoring, but it is difficult to use conventional risk factors. This study is aimed to employ machine learning (ML) algorithms combined with routine data to predict violent behavior among male schizophrenia patients. Moreover, the identified best model might be utilized to calculate the probability of an individual committing violence. METHOD We enrolled a total of 397 male schizophrenia patients and randomly stratified them into the training set and the testing set, in a 7:3 ratio. We used eight ML algorithms to develop the predictive models. The main variables as input features selected by the least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) and logistic regression (LR) were integrated into prediction models for violence among male schizophrenia patients. In the training set, 10 × 10-fold cross-validation was conducted to adjust the parameters. In the testing set, we evaluated and compared the predictive performance of eight ML algorithms in terms of area under the curve (AUC) for the receiver operating characteristic curve. RESULT Our results showed the prevalence of violence among male schizophrenia patients was 36.8%. The LASSO and LR identified main risk factors for violent behavior in patients with schizophrenia integrated into the predictive models, including lower education level [0.556 (0.378-0.816)], having cigarette smoking [2.121 (1.191-3.779)], higher positive syndrome [1.016 (1.002-1.031)] and higher social disability screening schedule (SDSS) [1.081 (1.026-1.139)]. The Neural Net (nnet) with an AUC of 0.6673 (0.5599-0.7748) had better prediction ability than that of other algorithms. CONCLUSION ML algorithms are useful in early identifying male schizophrenia patients with violence and helping clinicians take preventive measures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Schizophrenia patients with violent behavior are a severe public health concern, but the correlates of this violent behavior are unknown. Additionally, the relationship between neurocognitive function and violent behavior in Chinese patients with schizophrenia has not yet been investigated. METHODS A total of 337 schizophrenia inpatients were recruited. The Positive and Negative Syndrome Scale (PANSS) was used to assess psychopathological symptoms. Neurocognitive functioning was evaluated using the Repeatable Battery for the Assessment of Neuropsychological Status (RBANS). RESULTS The percentage of violent behavior was 10.4% in patients with schizophrenia. Patients with violent behavior had higher PANSS-positive, excited, and total subscale scores than patients who did not show violent behavior. Patients with violent behavior also had lower RBANS language, semantic fluency, and total subscale scores. Gender (OR = 0.066∼0.819, p = 0.023), illness duration (OR = 0.876∼0.971, p = 0.002), smoking (OR = 1.127∼2.950, p = 0.014), the PANSS positive subscale (OR = 1.050∼1.197, p = 0.001), and the RBANS language subscale (OR = 0.927∼0.987, p = 0.005) significantly contributed to the development of violent behavior in schizophrenia patients. CONCLUSION Our findings revealed that cognitive and clinical assessments should be considered in comprehensive assessments of future risks of violence in schizophrenia patients.

Abstract
Sleep disturbances accompany almost all mental illnesses, either because sound sleep and mental well-being share similar requisites, or because mental problems lead to sleep problems, or vice versa. The aim of this narrative review was to examine sleep in patients with delusions, particularly in those diagnosed with delusional disorder. We did this in sequence, first for psychiatric illness in general, then for psychotic illnesses where delusions are prevalent symptoms, and then for delusional disorder. The review also looked at the effect on sleep parameters of individual symptoms commonly seen in delusional disorder (paranoia, cognitive distortions, suicidal thoughts) and searched the evidence base for indications of antipsychotic drug effects on sleep. It subsequently evaluated the influence of sleep therapies on psychotic symptoms, particularly delusions. The review’s findings are clinically important. Delusional symptoms and sleep quality influence one another reciprocally. Effective treatment of sleep problems is of potential benefit to patients with persistent delusions, but may be difficult to implement in the absence of an established therapeutic relationship and an appropriate pharmacologic regimen. As one symptom can aggravate another, comorbidities in patients with serious mental illness all need to be treated, a task that requires close liaison among medical specialties.
