Abstract
Objectives Osteoporosis is one of the major public health problems worldwide among postmenopausal osteoporotic women. Lifestyle modification interventions along with pharmacotherapy help to revert bone loss and prevent complications. Methods A randomised controlled trial was conducted at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal from January 2019 to December 2021 among postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. The postmenopausal women who attended the osteoporosis clinic and were within the age group of 45-65 years, could speak and understand English or Kannada and whose bone mineral density (BMD) score was between -1 and -3 were included in the study. The total sample size of the study was 120 with 60 in each of the experimental and control groups. After obtaining informed consent, a stratified block randomisation method was used to allocate the participants to intervention and control groups. The BMD was monitored by the portable ultrasound densitometer by a technician at the outpatient departments. The baseline information was collected by a structured demographic questionnaire. Intervention group participants received a lifestyle modification intervention program (LMIP) whereas the control group received standard regular care from the physician. Follow-up was done at three and six months. Results The results revealed that the increase in the BMD median score among the experimental group was from -2.2 (-2.5- -1.8) to -1.5 (-1.8- -0.65) whereas in the control group, it was from -2.3 (-2.6- -1.9) to -2.0 (-2.4- -1.5). The results of the Mann Whitey U test showed a statistical significance between the intervention and control groups in the post-test after six months (U = 505.5; P <0.05). Wilcoxon signed rank test showed a significant change in both the intervention and control groups from pre-test to post-test I (3 months) and post-test II (6 months; P <0.001). Conclusion The lifestyle modification intervention was found to be effective in improving the bone health status of postmenopausal women. Hence it is very important to integrate it into regular therapy.

Abstract
Adequate physical recovery after trauma, injury, disease, a long period of hypomobility, or simply ageing is a difficult goal because rehabilitation protocols are long-lasting and often cannot ensure complete motor recovery. Therefore, the optimisation of rehabilitation procedures is an important target to be achieved. The possibility of restoring motor functions by acting on proprioceptive signals by unspecific repetitive muscle vibration, focally applied on single muscles (RFV), instead of only training muscle function, is a new perspective, as suggested by the effects on the motor performance evidenced by healthy persons. The focal muscle vibration consists of micro-stretching-shortening sequences applied to individual muscles. By repeating such stimulation, an immediate and persistent increase in motility can be attained. This review aims to show whether this proprioceptive stimulation is useful for optimising the rehabilitative process in the presence of poor motor function. Papers reporting RFV effects have evidenced that the motor deficits can be counteracted by focal vibration leading to an early and quick complete recovery. The RFV efficacy has been observed in various clinical conditions. The motor improvements were immediate and obtained without loading the joints. The review suggests that these protocols can be considered a powerful new advantage to enhance traditional rehabilitation and achieve a more complete motor recovery.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To examine the pain-reducing effects of intra-articular oxygen-ozone (O2O3) injections and mechanical focal vibration (mFV) versus O2O3 injections alone in patients with knee osteoarthritis. METHODS Patients with chronic pain (>6 weeks) due to knee osteoarthritis (II-III on the Kellgren-Lawrence scale) were consecutively enrolled and divided into two groups: O2O3 (n = 25) and O2O3-mFV (n = 24). The visual analog scale (VAS), Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS), and Medical Research Council (MRC) Manual Muscle Testing scale were administered at baseline (before treatment), after 3 weeks of treatment, and 1 month after the end of treatment. Patients received three once-weekly intra-articular injections of O2O3 into the knee (20 mL O3, 20 μg/mL). The O2O3-mFV group also underwent nine sessions of mFV (three sessions per week). RESULTS The VAS score, KOOS, and MRC score were significantly better in the O2O3-mFV than O2O3 group. The within-group analysis showed that all scores improved over time compared with baseline and were maintained even 1 month after treatment. No adverse events occurred. CONCLUSION An integrated rehabilitation protocol involving O2O3 injections and mFV for 3 weeks reduces pain, increases autonomy in daily life activities, and strengthens the quadriceps femoris.

Abstract
AIM AcceleDent® Aura (OrthoAccel® Technologies, Bellaire, TX, USA) is a class II medical device with U.S. Food and Drug Administration approval that uses SoftPulse Technology™ to increase the speed of tooth movement. The aim of this study was to evaluate the application of vibrational forces on the rate of canine distalization. METHODS A total of 20 patients (10 boys and 10 girls) who had class II division 1 malocclusion or severe crowding and indicated first premolar extractions for treatment were included in the study. The patients were divided into two groups: 8 in the control group and 12 in the study group. Three-dimensional digital models were taken just before canine distalization and after space closure using the 3Shape TRIOS® R700 (3Shape Inc., Copenhagen, Denmark) device. Linear measurements between molars and canines were evaluated. The results were assessed with SPSS 23.0 program (IBM, Armonk, NY, USA). RESULTS One subject was excluded from the study group due to insufficient oral hygiene and poor patient compliance. Tooth movement rates were 1.06 mm/month for mandibular and maxillary canine teeth in the control group. In the study group, tooth movement rates were 1.24 mm/month for maxillary canines and 1.09 mm/month for mandibular canines. These differences were not statistically significant (p > 0.05). CONCLUSION AcceleDent® Aura is an easy-to-use device; however, in our study its application did not have any positive effects on canine retraction rates.

Abstract
Different devices for mechano-acoustic muscle vibration became available on the market in the last ten years. Although the use of these vibrators is increasing in research and clinical settings, the features of their stimulation output were never described in literature. In this study we aimed to quantify and compare the stimulation output of the four most widespread pneumatic devices for focal muscle vibration available on the market. A piezoelectric pressure sensor was used to measure the pressure profile generated by the four selected devices in the following experimental conditions: i) measurement of the output changes associated with variations of the stimulation amplitude for three stimulation frequencies (100 Hz, 200 Hz, and 300 Hz); ii) measurement of the output changes during a 20-min long stimulation at constant frequency (300 Hz) and amplitude; iii) measurement of the output changes associated with the progressive activation of all stimulation channels at constant frequency (200 Hz) for different amplitudes. The maximum peak-to-peak amplitudes of the pressure waves were in the range 102 mbar - 369 mbar (below the maximum values declared by the different manufacturers). The shape of the pressure waves generated by the four devices was quasi-sinusoidal and asymmetric with respect to the atmospheric pressure. All output features had a remarkable intra- and inter-device variability. Further studies are required to support the technological improvement of the currently available devices and to focus the issues of vibration effectiveness, limitations, proper protocols, modalities of its application and assessment in neuromuscular training and rehabilitation.

Abstract
A mutual link between somatic and visceral neural pathways is known in medicine. This study addresses therapeutic effectiveness of an integrated rehabilitative approach of thermal aquatic environment, combined with neuromuscular manual stimulation, on activation of afferent sensory visceral and somatic efferent neuronal motor pathways in different pathologies of neuromuscular motor and respiratory systems. The study included 63 patients subjected to a protocol consisting of hydroponic treatment, hydrokinesitherapy associated with ozonized vascular pathway, and mud therapy associated with cardiorespiratory treatment performed in aquatic environment and aided by neuromuscular manual therapy. The therapeutic protocol consisted of rehabilitation sessions 5 days a week for 2 months. The outcome measures were spirometry tests and the following evaluation instruments: Tinetti Gait and Balance assessment scale, Functional Independence Measurement, visual analogue scale, and the EQ-5D-5 L instrument. The tests were applied before and after the protocol completion. The findings demonstrate a general increase in patients' everyday living autonomy and quality of life, with a particular improvement in respiratory function tests. We conclude that the integrated thermal approach holds promise in therapeutic rehabilitation of disabilities.

Abstract
Dysfunctions of the pelvic floor related to mixed urinary incontinence in women are pathologies extremely limiting for patients bodily and psychosocial conditions, altering their quality of life. The aim of this study was to determine the effects of focal mechanical vibrations in mixed urinary incontinence. In this retrospective observational case-control study, 65 patients were randomized and divided into 2 groups: treatment group by focal mechanical vibrations (VISS-10 sessions) (N = 33) and a control group in waiting list (N = 32). Also, both groups received home-based postural ergonomic instructions to reinforce pelvic floor. Data were collected at T0 (baseline), T1 (end of treatment), and T2 (follow-up = after 1 month): rheological muscle parameters were assessed by MyotonPRO respect to evaluate the gluteus maximus muscle. Then, to measure the general disability of the pelvic floor and the impact of urogenital problems on daily activities the Pelvic Floor Disability Index (PFDI-20) and the Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire (PFIQ-7) were used. Groups were matched perfectly before treatment for age (58.20 ± 4.37 vs. 58.73 ± 5.19) and BMI (26.15 ± 2.22 vs. 25.85 ± 2.11); for the two-way ANOVA analysis, a difference in gluteus variables over time and between groups except for GMDR (group p-value = 0.60) was showed. The two-way ANOVA shows statistically significant effects of treatment and time for PDFI-20 and PFIQ-7 (p-value <0.001). An improvement in incontinence symptoms and quality of life in the PDFI-20 and PFIQ-7 scores were reported and VISS may favor muscles stiffness for exercises by improving the normalization of basal tone. Our results were encouraging and suggested the use of focal mechanical vibration as a novel tool for treating mix urinary incontinence in women to complete and help the rehabilitative therapeutic protocol.
