Efficacy and safety of lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab in patients with advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer: a systematic review and meta-analysis

Background

Various trials have demonstrated the clinical benefits of lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab in patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer, regardless of mismatch repair (MMR) status or histologic subtype. The majority of the previously published trials had small sample sizes. Here, we aimed to assess the reported efficacy and safety profile of lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab in patients with advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer.

Methods

We utilized the Cochrane Library, PubMed, Web of Science and Embase databases to identify clinical trials evaluating the efficacy and safety of lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab in patients with advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer. The outcomes analyzed were progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), the objective response rate (ORR), the disease control rate (DCR) and the incidence of adverse events (AEs). Subgroup analysis was conducted on the basis of MMR status (deficient, dMMR or proficient, pMMR).

Results

Four trials (582 patients) were included. The pooled ORR was 32.7% [95% confidence interval (CI): 28.9-36.5]. Subgroup analysis revealed an ORR of 48.1% (95% CI: 26.1-70.2) for dMMR group and 33.1% (95% CI: 25.7-40.6) for pMMR group. The pooled DCR was 74.9% (95% CI: 71.3-78.4%). Subgroup analysis revealed a DCR of 81.0% (95% CI: 64.5-97.6) for the dMMR group and 76.3% (95% CI: 66.3-86.3) for the pMMR group. Follow-up was reported in all included studies. The median range time of PFS and OS was 5.3 months-258 days and 17.2 months-not reached, respectively. Regarding safety, the overall pooled proportions of any-grade AE and AEs ≥ grade 3 were 95.8% (95% CI: 89.5-100.0) and 80.2% (95% CI: 59.9-100.0), respectively.

Conclusion

Lenvatinib plus pembrolizumab showed a relevant clinical benefit and significant toxicity in patients with advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer. Further studies encompassing long-term outcomes are warranted.

Survival Difference of Endometrial Cancer Patients with Peritoneal Metastasis Receiving Cytoreductive Surgery (CRS) with and without Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC): A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Although several studies have been completed to investigate the effect of cytoreductive surgery (CRS) with or without hyperthermic intraperitoneal chemotherapy (HIPEC) in endometrial cancer with peritoneal metastasis (ECPM), a direct comparison was not performed previously. A meta-analysis was performed to investigate the suspected additional survival benefits of CRS plus HIPEC over CRS only. Twenty-one and ten studies with a total number of 1116 and 152 cases investigating CRS only and CRS plus HIPEC were identified, respectively. When all articles were analyzed, the 1-year survival rate was 17.60% higher for CRS plus HIPEC (82.28% vs. 64.68%; p = 0.0102). The same tendency was observed for the 2-year (56.07% vs. 36.95%; difference: 19.12%; p = 0.0014), but not for the 5-year (21.88% vs. 16.45%; difference: 5.43%; p = 0.3918) survival rates. The same clinical significance, but statistically less strong observations, could be made if only the studies published after 2010 were investigated (1-year survival rate: 12.08% and p = 0.0648; 2-year survival rate: 10.90% and p = 0.0988). CRS remains one of the core elements of ECPM treatment, but the addition of HIPEC to CRS can increase the positive clinical outcome, especially in the first 2 years.

Caveolin-1's dual impact on endometrioid endometrial carcinoma: a histopathological and immunohistochemical study

The objectives of this study are to evaluate caveolin-1 expression in endometrioid endometrial cancer and its correlation with clinicopathological parameters. Forty-four cases of endometrioid endometrial carcinomas underwent radical hysterectomy. The archived paraffin sections that were stained for caveolin-1 by immunohistochemistry, caveolin-1 expression were detected in cancerous epithelial cells in 18.2% of the cases, and stromal caveolin-1 was detected in 65.9% of the cases. Caveolin-1 expression in the epithelium showed a significant positive association with the T stage and the FIGO stage. Positive caveolin-1 expression in epithelium has a direct, positive and significant relationship with invasion of other organs and a direct and significant relationship with the advanced FIGO stage. As for caveolin-1 expression in the stroma, it showed a significant negative inversely significant association with myometrial invasion. Also, there is a significant negative association between caveolin-1 expression in the epithelium and its expression in the stroma. We conclude that caveolin-1 expression strongly plays a critical role in endometrioid endometrial carcinoma as a tumor suppressor or promoter of invasion. In early lesions, high stromal levels appear to be protective against progression. While decreased stromal expression and increased epithelial expression were associated with aggressive tumors.

Cost-effectiveness of dostarlimab plus chemotherapy for primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer

Objective

In the double-blind, phase III, placebo-controlled RUBY randomized clinical trial, dostarlimab plus carboplatin-paclitaxel significantly increased survival among patients with primary advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC). We conducted a cost-effectiveness analysis of dostarlimab in combination with chemotherapy in these patients stratified by mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) and mismatch repair-proficient (pMMR) subgroups from the perspective of a United States payer.

Materials and methods

A Markov model with three states was employed to simulate patients who were administered either dostarlimab in combination with chemotherapy or chemotherapy based on the RUBY trial. Quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs), lifetime costs, and incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) were calculated with a willingness-to-pay (WTP) threshold of $150,000 per QALY. Both univariate and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were carried out to explore the robustness of the model.

Results

In dMMR EC, the combination of dostarlimab and chemotherapy achieved an additional 5.48 QALYs at an incremental cost of $330,747 compared to chemotherapy alone, resulting in an ICER of $60,349.30 per QALY. In pMMR EC, there were 1.51 additional QALYs gained at an extra cost of $265,148, yielding an ICER of $175,788.47 per QALY. With a 15.2% discount on dostarlimab, the ICER decreased to $150,000 per QALY in the pMMR EC. The univariate sensitivity analysis revealed that the cost of dostarlimab, utility of progression-free survival (PFS), and progressive disease (PD) had the most significant impacts on the outcomes. Probabilistic sensitivity analysis revealed that dostarlimab had a 100% likelihood of being considered cost-effective for patients at a WTP threshold of $150,000 per QALY for dMMR EC, whereas this likelihood was only 0.5% for pMMR EC.

Conclusion

Dostarlimab in combination with chemotherapy was cost-effective for primary advanced or recurrent dMMR EC from the perspective of a United States payer at a WTP threshold of $150,000 per QALY, but not for pMMR EC. Lowering the prices of dostarlimab could potentially enhance the cost-effectiveness of treatment for pMMR EC.

GSG2 promotes progression of human endometrial cancer by regulating PD-1/PD-L1 expression via PI3K-AKT pathway

Cell cycle dysregulation leading to uncontrolled growth is a primary characteristic of malignancy. GSG2, a mitosis-related kinase, affects the normal cell cycle by interfering with the normal dissociation of centromere cohesion, and its overexpression has been shown to play an important role in cancer cells. Here, we investigated the function of GSG2 as a tumor promoter in endometrial carcinoma and its relationship with the immunological microenvironment. We used immunohistochemistry to identify a correlation between the development and prognosis of GSG2 and endometrial cancer. Cell and animal experiments confirmed that GSG2 has a protumorigenic phenotype in endometrial cancer cell lines. Furthermore, using GeneChip analysis and a tumor-immune coculture model, we observed a link between GSG2 expression and the composition of the immune microenvironment. Therefore, we concluded that the activation of the PI3K/AKT pathway by GSG2 may impact DNA repair, disrupt the cell cycle, and regulate the immune response, all of which could increase the ability of EC cells to proliferate malignantly. Consequently, it is anticipated that GSG2 will be a viable therapeutic target in endometrial carcinoma.

Hormone Receptor Expression and Activity for Different Tumour Locations in Patients with Advanced and Recurrent Endometrial Carcinoma

BACKGROUND

Response to hormonal therapy in advanced and recurrent endometrial cancer (EC) can be predicted by oestrogen and progesterone receptor immunohistochemical (ER/PR-IHC) expression, with response rates of 60% in PR-IHC > 50% cases. ER/PR-IHC can vary by tumour location and is frequently lost with tumour progression. Therefore, we explored the relationship between ER/PR-IHC expression and tumour location in EC.

METHODS

Pre-treatment tumour biopsies from 6 different sites of 80 cases treated with hormonal therapy were analysed for ER/PR-IHC expression and classified into categories 0-10%, 10-50%, and >50%. The ER pathway activity score (ERPAS) was determined based on mRNA levels of ER-related target genes, reflecting the actual activity of the ER receptor.

RESULTS

There was a trend towards lower PR-IHC (33% had PR > 50%) and ERPAS (27% had ERPAS > 15) in lymphogenic metastases compared to other locations (p = 0.074). Hematogenous and intra-abdominal metastases appeared to have high ER/PR-IHC and ERPAS (85% and 89% ER-IHC > 50%; 64% and 78% PR-IHC > 50%; 60% and 71% ERPAS > 15, not significant). Tumour grade and previous radiotherapy did not affect ER/PR-IHC or ERPAS.

CONCLUSIONS

A trend towards lower PR-IHC and ERPAS was observed in lymphogenic sites. Verification in larger cohorts is needed to confirm these findings, which may have implications for the use of hormonal therapy in the future.

Glycometabolism and lipid metabolism related genes predict the prognosis of endometrial carcinoma and their effects on tumor cells

BACKGROUND

Glycometabolism and lipid metabolism are critical in cancer metabolic reprogramming. The primary aim of this study was to develop a prognostic model incorporating glycometabolism and lipid metabolism-related genes (GLRGs) for accurate prognosis assessment in patients with endometrial carcinoma (EC).

METHODS

Data on gene expression and clinical details were obtained from publicly accessible databases. GLRGs were obtained from the Genecards database. Through nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) clustering, molecular groupings with various GLRG expression patterns were identified. LASSO Cox regression analysis was employed to create a prognostic model. Use rich algorithms such as GSEA, GSVA, xCELL ssGSEA, EPIC,CIBERSORT, MCPcounter, ESTIMATE, TIMER, TIDE, and Oncoppredict to analyze functional pathway characteristics of the forecast signal, immune status, anti-tumor therapy, etc. The expression was assessed using Western blot and quantitative real-time PCR techniques. A total of 113 algorithm combinations were combined to screen out the most significant GLRGs in the signature for in vitro experimental verification, such as colony formation, EdU cell proliferation, wound healing, apoptosis, and Transwell assays.

RESULTS

A total of 714 GLRGs were found, and 227 of them were identified as prognostic-related genes. And ten GLRGs (AUP1, ESR1, ERLIN2, ASS1, OGDH, BCKDHB, SLC16A1, HK2, LPCAT1 and PGR-AS1) were identified to construct the prognostic model of patients with EC. Based on GLRGs, the risk model's prognosis and independent prognostic value were established. The signature of GLRGs exhibited a robust correlation with the infiltration of immune cells and the sensitivity to drugs. In cytological experiments, we selected HK2 as candidate gene to verify its value in the occurrence and development of EC. Western blot and qRT-PCR revealed that HK2 was substantially expressed in EC cells. According to in vitro experiments, HK2 knockdown can increase EC cell apoptosis while suppressing EC cell migration, invasion, and proliferation.

CONCLUSION

The GLRGs signature constructed in this study demonstrated significant prognostic value for patients with endometrial carcinoma, thereby providing valuable guidance for treatment decisions.

Prognostic role of C-reactive protein in patients with endometrial cancer: a meta-analysis

Background: The present meta-analysis aimed to explore the association between C-reactive protein (CRP) levels and the prognosis of patients with endometrial cancer (EC). Methods: The effect of CRP level on predicting overall survival (OS) and disease-free survival (DFS) in patients with EC was evaluated according to pooled hazard ratios (HRs) and corresponding 95% CIs. Results: High CRP levels were not significantly correlated with OS (HR: 1.32 [95% CI: 0.99-1.77]; p = 0.060) or DFS (HR: 1.05 [95% CI: 0.88-1.25]; p = 0.597) in patients with EC. Conclusion: CRP levels did not significantly predict OS or DFS in patients with EC. However, according to subgroup analyses, higher CRP levels were significantly associated with poor OS in Asian patients with EC.

Cost-effectiveness of pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy for advanced endometrial cancer

OBJECTIVE

To assess the cost-effectiveness of pembrolizumab in combination with chemotherapy compared to chemotherapy alone, based on the results of the NRG-GY018 trial, in patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC), stratified by mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) and mismatch repair-proficient (pMMR) subgroups.

METHODS

A Markov model was used to simulate patients receiving either pembrolizumab plus chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone. Lifetime costs, quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs), and incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) were calculated using a willingness-to-pay (WTP) threshold of $150,000/QALY. Univariate and probabilistic sensitivity analyses were conducted to assess the robustness of our findings.

RESULTS

The addition of pembrolizumab to chemotherapy led to an incremental gain of 4.05 QALYs at an additional cost of $167,224, resulting in an ICER of $41,305.09/QALY compared to chemotherapy alone in dMMR EC. Additionally, there were 0.93 additional QALYs at an additional cost of $83,661, which resulted in an ICER of $90,284.80/QALY in pMMR EC. Sensitivity analyses indicated that the cost of pembrolizumab, utility of progressed disease, and utility of progression-free survival had the greatest impact on the results. Probabilistic sensitivity analysis showed that pembrolizumab was considered cost-effective at a 100% probability at a WTP threshold of $150,000 per QALY.

CONCLUSION

Pembrolizumab, when combined with chemotherapy, was found to be cost-effective compared to chemotherapy alone both for patients with advanced or recurrent dMMR and pMMR EC from the perspective of a payer in the United States.

Exploration of the Correlation Between GRHL1 Expression and Tumor Microenvironment in Endometrial Cancer and Immunotherapy

Introduction

GRHL1 belongs to the family of Grainyhead-like (GRHL). Previous studies have shown that dysregulation of growth and survival pathways is associated with the GRHL family of gene cancers. Immunotherapy with checkpoint inhibitors has changed the treatment paradigm for many tumors, including endometrial cancer (EC). However, the effect of GRHL1 on immunotherapy in EC and its relationship with immune cell infiltration are poorly understood.

Methods

Differential expression of GRHL1 between EC and normal EC tissues was analyzed by searching the TCGA database, and the results were verified utilizing immunohistochemistry analyses. Next, the relationship between GRHL1, CD8+ T cells and tumor microenvironment (TME) was also investigated, and the effect of GRHL1 expression on immunotherapy in EC was evaluated.

Results

According to the findings, EC tissues had elevated expression levels of GRHL1 relative to normal tissues. Patients with EC who expressed GRHL1 at high levels experienced worse overall survival (OS) and Progression-free survival (PFS) than those whose expression was lower. In addition, GRHL1 expression was negatively correlated with CD8+ T cells, and patients with high GRHL1 expression were less effective in receiving immunotherapy.

Conclusion

The expression of GRHL1 was high in EC patients, and high expression of GRHL1 inhibits the proliferation of CD8+ T cells in the tumor microenvironment of EC and affect the efficacy of immunotherapy.

Cost-effectiveness of atezolizumab plus chemotherapy for advanced/recurrent endometrial cancer

OBJECTIVE

This study assessed the cost-effectiveness of atezolizumab in combination with chemotherapy for patients with advanced or recurrent endometrial cancer (EC) from the U.S. payer's perspective.

METHODS

A cost-effectiveness study was conducted using a Markov model based on ENGOT-en7/MaNGO/AtTEnd clinical trials. The population consisted of patients with EC, stratified by mismatch repair-deficient (dMMR) and mismatch repair-proficient (pMMR) subgroups. The model simulated patients receiving either atezolizumab plus chemotherapy or chemotherapy alone. Cost, quality-adjusted life-years (QALYs), and incremental cost-effectiveness ratio (ICER) were calculated using a Willingness-to-Pay (WTP) threshold of $150,000/QALY. Sensitivity analyses were performed.

RESULTS

Adding atezolizumab to chemotherapy in dMMR EC resulted in an incremental gain of 3.31 QALYs but at an additional cost of $855,042, leading to an ICER of $258,391.07/QALY compared to chemotherapy alone. In pMMR EC, there was a gain of 0.50 QALYs with an additional cost of $140,502, resulting in an ICER of $279,239.72/QALY. The overall ICER for EC was $216,459.34/QALY. Scenario analysis indicated that administering atezolizumab for a maximum of 2 years improved cost-effectiveness in dMMR EC, with an ICER of $70,695.96/QALY falling within the predetermined WTP threshold.

CONCLUSION

For patients with advanced or recurrent EC, the combination of atezolizumab and chemotherapy may not prove cost-effective. However, administering atezolizumab for a limited period of maximum 2 years could improve cost-effectiveness in dMMR EC.

A novel immune-related gene signature for diagnosis and potential immunotherapy of microsatellite stable endometrial carcinoma

An immune-related gene signature (IRGS) was established to better understand the molecular and immunologic characteristics of microsatellite instable (MSI) and microsatellite stable (MSS) endometrial carcinoma (EC), and provide potential immunotherapy directions for MSS patients. Top 20 immune-related hub genes were screened by weight gene coexpression network analysis (WGCNA), and an IRGS was further established through Cox regression analysis. The molecular and immune characteristics were clarified in IRGS high and low risk groups. Expression and MS status validation of the IRGS were conducted through quantitative real-time Polymerase Chain Reaction (rt-qPCR) and immunohistochemistry (IHC) analysis. The IRGS includes 2 oncogenes (AGTR1 and HTR3C) and 2 tumor suppressor genes (CD3E and SERPIND1). Patients in IRGS high-risk group were more with MSS status, higher tumor grade, later FIGO stage, serous histology and elder ages compared with IRGS low-risk group (P < 0.05). Besides, patients in MSS group were more FIGO stages II-IV (42.7% vs. 26%), serous histology (35.7% vs. 5.3%) and with higher IRGS risk score (1.51 ± 3.11 vs. 1.02 ± 0.67) (P < 0.05) than patients in MSI group. Furthermore, patients in IRGS high-risk group had higher tumor purity, more Macrophages M1 and Macrophages M2 infiltrating, higher proportion of Macrophages M2 and Dendritic cells activated, lower proportion of T cells regulatory (Tregs), lower tumor mutation burden (TMB). Correspondingly, subjects in IRGS low-risk group had higher immunphenoscores than IRGS high-risk group. The relative mRNA level of AGTR1 and HTR3C were gradually increase, while CD3E and SERPIND1 were reversed in rt-qPCR. Through IHC experiments, AGTR1(69.2% vs 30%, P = 0.074) and HTR3C (76.9% vs 30%, P = 0.024) had higher positive staining rates in ECs than non-ECs. While SERPIND1 (84.6% vs 20%, P = 0.003) and CD3E (61.5% vs 40%, P = 0.000) had higher positive staining rates in non-ECs. IRGS is a potential diagnostic and prognostic biomarker for EC. IRGS low risk group might benefit from immune checkpoint inhibitors, while IRGS high risk group deserve other potential immunotherapy.

Racioethnic Disparities in Endometrial Cancer Outcomes

Black women are twice as likely to die from endometrial cancer (EC) compared with white women. This represents one of the worst racioethnic disparities amongst all cancers globally. Compared with white women, black women are more likely to be diagnosed with advanced EC, have more barriers to accessing care and experience increased delays in obtaining an EC diagnosis and commencing treatment. Histological and molecular differences place black women at higher risk of being diagnosed with more aggressive EC subtypes that carry less favourable outcomes. Furthermore, EC diagnostic pathways are less reliable in black women, and black women are less likely to receive evidence-based treatment for EC. This racioethnic disparity in EC outcomes exists both in the UK and US, despite differences in healthcare systems. This review methodically describes the key factors along the patient journey that contribute to the disparity in black women and proposes multifaceted approaches to lessen these gaps.

USP14 predicts poorer survival outcomes and promotes tumor progression in endometrial carcinoma by activating NF-κB signaling

Ubiquitin-specific protease 14 (USP14), a member of the USP family, which catalyzes ubiquitin cleavage from a range of protein substrates, has been found dysregulated in several cancers. Our aim is to explore the functions and mechanism of USP14 in endometrial carcinoma (EC). Quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and western blot (WB) were used to assess USP14 levels in EC tissues and adjacent nontumor tissues. USP14 overexpression or knockdown models were adopted to determine USP14-mediated effects on EC cell proliferation, migration, invasion, apoptosis, and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). The xenograft tumor experiment checked the effect of USP14 overexpression on tumor cell growth. Furthermore, the upstream signaling pathway of USP14 was predicted by bioinformatics. Consequently, EC tissues exhibited USP14 overexpression compared to normal paracancerous nontumor tissues. USP14 presence was linked to an adverse prognosis in EC cases. Functionally, USP14 overexpression reduced apoptosis and increased cell migration, invasion, and EMT in vivo and ex vivo. USP14 knockdown had the opposite effect. Mechanistically, NF-κB pathway activation occurred through the inhibitory effect of USP14 on I-κB expression. Conversely, NF-κB pathway inhibition attenuated USP14-mediated carcinogenic effects. Additionally, there existed a binding interaction between miR-124-3p and the 3'-UTR of USP14, resulting in USP14 activity inhibition. In summary, our research indicates that the involvement of miR-124-3p in USP14 regulation contributes to exacerbated EC progression through NF-κB pathway activation. The modulation of this pathway may be a new strategy for treating EC.

Lurbinectedin in patients with pretreated endometrial cancer: results from a phase 2 basket clinical trial and exploratory translational study

Second-line treatment of endometrial cancer is an unmet medical need. Lurbinectedin showed promising antitumor activity in a phase I study in combination with doxorubicin in advanced endometrial cancer. This phase 2 Basket trial evaluated lurbinectedin 3.2 mg/m2 1-h intravenous infusion every 3 weeks in a cohort of 73 patients with pretreated endometrial cancer. The primary endpoint was overall response rate (ORR) according to RECIST v1.1. Secondary endpoints included duration of response (DoR), progression-free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS), safety and an exploratory translational study. Confirmed complete (CR) and partial response (PR) was reported in two and six patients, respectively (ORR = 11.3%; 95%CI, 5.0-21.0%). Median DoR was 9.2 months (95%CI, 3.4-18.0 months), median PFS was 2.6 months (95%CI, 1.4-4.0 months) and median OS was 9.3 months (95%CI, 6.1-12.8 months). Molecular subtypes showed differences in PFS rate at 6 months (p53abn 23.7% vs. "No Specific Molecular Profile" [NSMP] 42.9%) and median OS (p53abn 6.6 months vs. NSMP 16.1 months). The most common treatment-related adverse events (mostly grade 1/2) were fatigue (54.8% of patients), nausea (50.7%), vomiting (26.0%) decreased appetite (17.8%). and constipation, (19.2%). The most common grade 3/4 toxicity was neutropenia (43.8%; grade 4, 19.2%; febrile neutropenia, 4.1%). In conclusion, considering the exploratory aim of this trial and the hints of antitumor activity observed together with a predictable and manageable safety profile, further biomarker-based development of lurbinectedin is recommended in this indication in combination with other agents. Reanalysis of single-cell data reveals macrophage subsets associated with the immunotherapy response and prognosis of patients with endometrial cancer

Endometrial cancer (EC) is an aggressive gynecological malignancy with an increased incidence rate. The immune landscape crucially affects immunotherapy efficacy and prognosis in EC patients. Here, we characterized the distinct tumor microenvironment signatures of EC tumors by analyzing single-cell RNA sequencing data from Gene Expression Omnibus and bulk RNA sequencing data from The Cancer Genome Atlas, which were compared with normal endometrium. Three macrophage subsets were identified, and two of them showed tissue-specific distribution. One of the macrophage subsets was dominant in macrophages derived from EC and exhibited characteristic behaviors such as promoting tumor growth and metastasis. One of the other macrophage subsets was mainly found in normal endometrium and served functions related to antigen presentation. We also identified a macrophage subset that was found in both EC and normal endometrial tissue. However, the pathway and cellular cross-talk of this subset were completely different based on the respective origin, suggesting a tumor-related differentiation mechanism of macrophages. Additionally, the tumor-enriched macrophage subset was found to predict immunotherapy responses in EC. Notably, we selected six genes from macrophage subset markers that could predict the survival of EC patients, SCL8A1, TXN, ANXA5, CST3, CD74 and NANS, and constructed a prognostic signature. To verify the signature, we identified immunohistochemistry for the tumor samples of 83 EC patients based on the selected genes and further followed up with the survival of the patients. Our results provide strong evidence that the signature can effectively predict the prognosis of EC patients.
