Abstract
Acute ST elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) is a common acute and critical disease that requires rapid treatment within a limited window of time. In this study, we attempt to introduce a clinical pathway for the whole-process management of emergency STEMI based on the creation of a specific information system that matches the characteristics of emergency clinical work and evaluates their clinical value by quality control analysis. We deployed this system for 3 years and found that complications, heart failure, and medical costs during hospitalization were significantly reduced (p = 0.019) in patients with STEMI. By analyzing each link in the clinical pathway, our research indicates the clear clinical importance of developing methods to continuously improve data quality. Collectively, out research led to the optimization of an information system that will facilitate the clinical management of patients with STEMI.

Abstract
This research examines the association between the platelet-derived growth factor/platelet-derived growth factor receptor (PDGF/PDGFR) system and rheumatoid arthritis (RA) susceptibility through a comprehensive search of the PubMed database to study the expression of the PDGF/PDGFR system in RA. Review Manager software version 5.3 was used for statistical analysis. Six eligible studies published in the English language were included, including 108 rheumatoid arthritis cases and 85 controls with the corresponding 126 and 97 tests, respectively, relating the expression of the PDGF/PDGFR system to the risk of RA. The overall results indicated a significant association between the PDGF/PDGFR system expression and RA (OR = 5.25, 95% CI: 3.00-9.18, p < 00001), RA patients in Asian countries (OR = 4.13, 95% CI = 2.04-8.39, p < 0.0001) and in Western countries (OR = 9.18, 95% CI = 2.04-8.39, p = 0.03), and only PDGF expression in RA patients (OR = 5.28, 95% CI = 2.73-10.21, p < 0.00001). Thus, only the PDGFR expression was insignificantly associated with RA susceptibility (OR = 9.25, 95% CI = 0.63-136.30, p = 0.11). Hence, the PDGF/PDGFR system most likely contributes to susceptibility to RA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The National Medical Products Administration (NMPA) in China has set to advance the regulatory capacity of traditional Chinese medicines (TCMs) with the adoption of regulatory science (RS). However, the priority of actions at the interface of RS and TCMs were yet to be defined. This research aims to identify the priority areas and summarize core actions for advancing RS for traditional medicines in China. METHODS A mixed approach of documentary analysis of government policies, regulations and official information about TCMs regulation in China, and a scoping review of literature using 4 databases (PubMed, ScienceDirect, Scopus and CNKI) on major concerns in TCMs regulation was employed. RESULTS Ten priority areas in the development of TCM-related regulatory science in China have been identified, including: (1) modernizing the regulatory system with a holistic approach; (2) advancing the methodology for the quality control of TCMs; (3) fostering the control mechanism of TCMs manufacturing process; (4) improving clinical evaluation of TCMs and leveraging real world data; (5) re-evaluation of TCMs injection; (6) developing evaluation standards for classic TCMs formula; (7) harnessing diverse data to improve pharmacovigilance of TCMs; (8) evaluating the value of integrative medicine in clinical practice with scientific research; (9) advancing the regulatory capacity to encourage innovation in TCMs; and (10) advancing a vision of collaboration for RS development in TCMs. CONCLUSIONS RS for TCMs in China encompasses revolution of operational procedures, advancement in science and technology, and cross-disciplinary collaborations. Such experiences could be integrated in the communications among drug regulatory authorities to promote standardized and scientific regulation of traditional medicines.

Efficacy of Danlou Tablet in Patients with Non-ST Elevation Acute Coronary Syndrome Undergoing Percutaneous Coronary Intervention: Results from a Multicentre, Placebo-Controlled, Randomized Trial. Abstract
This study seeks to investigate potential cardioprotection of Danlou Tablets in patients undergoing PCI with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome (NSTE-ACS). 219 patients with NSTE-ACS were randomised to Danlou Tablet pretreatment (n = 109) or placebo (n = 110). No patients received statins prior to PCI and all patients were given atorvastatin (10 mg/day) after procedure. The main endpoint was the composite incidence of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) within 30 days after PCI. The proportion of patients with elevated levels of cTn I>5 × 99% of upper reference limit was significantly lower in the Danlou Tablet group at 8 h (22.0% versus 34.5%, p = 0.04) and 24 h (23.9% versus 38.2%, p = 0.02) after PCI. The 30-day MACEs occurred in 22.0% of the Danlou Tablet group and 33.6% in the placebo group (p = 0.06). The incidence of MACE at 90-day follow-up was significantly decreased in the Danlou Tablet group compared to the placebo group (23.9% versus 37.3%, p = 0.03). The difference between the groups at 90 days was the incidence of nonfatal myocardial infarction (22% versus 34.5%, p = 0.04). These findings might support that treatment with Danlou Tablet could reduce the incidence of periprocedural myocardial infarction in patients with ACS undergoing PCI.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Low back pain (LBP) is a common musculoskeletal condition often treated using integrative medicine (IM). Most reviews have focused on a single complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) therapy for LBP rather than evaluating wider integrative approaches. This exploratory systematic review aimed to identify randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and provide evidence on the effectiveness, cost effectiveness and adverse effects of integrative treatment for LBP. METHODS A literature search was conducted in 12 English and Chinese databases. RCTs evaluating an integrative treatment for musculoskeletal related LBP were included. Reporting, methodological quality and relevant clinical characteristics were assessed and appraised. Metaanalyses were performed for outcomes where trials were sufficiently homogenous. RESULTS Fifty-six RCTs were identified evaluating integrative treatment for LBP. Although reporting and methodological qualities were poor, meta-analysis showed a favourable effect for integrative treatment over conventional and CAM treatment for back pain and function at 3 months or less follow-up. Two trials investigated costs, reporting £ 5332 per quality adjusted life years with 6 Alexander technique lessons plus exercise at 12 months follow-up; and an increased total costs of $244 when giving an additional up to 15 sessions of CAM package of care at 12 weeks. Sixteen trials mentioned safety; no severe adverse effects were reported. CONCLUSION Integrative treatment that combines CAM with conventional therapies appeared to have beneficial effects on pain and function. However, evidence is limited due to heterogeneity, the relatively small numbers available for subgroup analyses and the low methodological quality of the included trials. Identification of studies of true IM was not possible due to lack of reporting of the intervention details (registration No. CRD42013003916).

Abstract
BACKGROUND China is experiencing increasing burden of acute myocardial infarction (AMI) in the face of limited medical resources. Hospital length of stay (LOS) is an important indicator of resource utilization. METHODS We used data from the Retrospective AMI Study within the China Patient-centered Evaluative Assessment of Cardiac Events, a nationally representative sample of patients hospitalized for AMI during 2001, 2006, and 2011. Hospital-level variation in risk-standardized LOS (RS-LOS) for AMI, accounting for differences in case mix and year, was examined with two-level generalized linear mixed models. A generalized estimating equation model was used to evaluate hospital characteristics associated with LOS. Absolute differences in RS-LOS and 95% confidence intervals were reported. RESULTS The weighted median and mean LOS were 13 and 14.6 days, respectively, in 2001 (n = 1,901), 11 and 12.6 days in 2006 (n = 3,553), and 11 and 11.9 days in 2011 (n = 7,252). There was substantial hospital level variation in RS-LOS across the 160 hospitals, ranging from 9.2 to 18.1 days. Hospitals in the Central regions had on average 1.6 days (p = 0.02) shorter RS-LOS than those in the Eastern regions. All other hospital characteristics relating to capacity for AMI treatment were not associated with LOS. CONCLUSIONS Despite a marked decline over the past decade, the mean LOS for AMI in China in 2011 remained long compared with international standards. Inter-hospital variation is substantial even after adjusting for case mix. Further improvement of AMI care in Chinese hospitals is critical to further shorten LOS and reduce unnecessary hospital variation.

Abstract
The aim of this report is to provide the reader an overview of the complex therapy currently used within the German health system. Complex therapies in inpatient care in Germany establish the basis for an integrative and interdisciplinary provision of services. They define minimal criteria for the organization of a hospital, enable the integration of different therapeutic approaches, and therefore, lead to an intensive and holistic treatment by a specially trained team. The German model can be viewed as a pilot program for the introduction of integrative patient-centered care in other hospitals around the world.

Abstract
Background and Objective. The aim was to evaluate the synergistic effects of clopidogrel and FDDP by modulating the metabolism target and the pharmacokinetics. Methods. The inhibition effect of FDDP on the CES1 was first investigated by the molecular simulation method, and the synergistic effects on the pharmacokinetics of CPGS were studied as follows: SD rats were treated with oral clopidogrel alone at a dosage of 30 mg/kg or the combination of clopidogrel and FDDP at dosages of 30 mg/kg and 324 mg/kg, respectively, for 21 days. The concentrations of CPGS in the blood plasma samples were determined and the calculated concentrations were used to determine the pharmacokinetic parameters. Results. 20 compounds in FDDP potentially interacted with CES1 target. The CPGS showed a two-compartment model pharmacokinetic profile. The concentration-time course of CPGS was not changed by FDDP, but FDDP decreased the peak plasma concentration and area under the curve of CPGS. Conclusion. The CES1's activity could be partly inhibited by FDDP through the molecular simulation investigation. The concentration-time course of CPGS was altered slightly by FDDP. The results demonstrated the synergistic effects of clopidogrel and FDDP by modulating both the pharmacokinetics and the target metabolism.

Abstract
Aims. To investigate the treatment of hospitalized patients with coronary artery disease (CAD) and the prognostic factors in Beijing, China.
Materials and Methods. A multicenter prospective study was conducted through an integrative platform of clinical and research at 12 hospitals in Beijing, China. The clinical information of 3537 hospitalized patients with CAD was collected from September 2009 to May 2011, and the efficacy of secondary prevention during one-year followup was evaluated. In addition, a logistic regression analysis was performed to identify some factors which will have independent impact on the prognosis. Results. The average age of all patients was 64.88 ± 11.97. Of them, 65.42% are males. The medicines for patients were as follows: antiplatelet drugs accounting for 91.97%, statins accounting for 83.66%, β-receptor blockers accounting for 72.55%, ACEI/ARB accounting for 58.92%, and revascularization (including PCI and CABG) accounting for 40.29%. The overall incidence of cardiovascular events was 13.26% (469/3537). The logistic stepwise regression analysis showed that heart failure (OR, 3.707, 95% CI = 2.756–4.986), age ≥ 65 years old (OR, 2.007, 95% CI = 1.587–2.53), and myocardial infarction (OR, 1.649, 95% CI = 1.322–2.057) were the independent risk factors of others factors for cardiovascular events that occurred during followup of one-year period. Integrative medicine (IM) therapy showed the beneficial tendency for decreasing incidence of cardiovascular events, although no statistical significance was found (OR, 0.797, 95% CI = 0.613~1.036). Conclusions. Heart failure, age ≥ 65 years old, and myocardial infarction were associated with an increase in incidence of cardiovascular events, and treatment with IM showed a tendency for decreasing incidence of cardiovascular events.
