Abstract
Background: In recent years, cardiac dysfunction in childhood cancer survivors has become an important issue. Studies are focusing on identifying means for the early identification of patients at risk. Considering this, our study aims to investigate 24-hour Holter electrocardiogram (ECG) repolarization changes throughout doxorubicin (DOX) and cyclophosphamide (CPM) administration in pediatric patients treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL). Methods: This was an investigator-driven, single-center, prospective, observational study. Enrolled children had a baseline bedside ECG examination performed before starting chemotherapy (T0). Serial Holter ECG examinations were conducted at three moments during their treatment protocol: day 8 (T1), day 29 (T2), and day 36 (T3). This study evaluated several ECG repolarization parameters, such as the QT interval, corrected QT interval (QTc), and QTc dispersion, as well as ST segment variations. Results: We evaluated 37 children diagnosed with ALL. The T0 examination revealed that over a third of patients had a resting heart rate (HR) outside the normal range for their age and sex. During chemotherapy, statistically significant increases in both HR as well as QT and QTc dispersion values were noticed, especially during the first DOX administration. What is more, a significant increase in the percentage of patients with ST segment depression from T1 to T2 and T3 was noticed. Rhythm disturbances were rare in the study population, with only a few patients presenting ventricular or supraventricular extrasystoles. Conclusions: This study reveals silent repolarization changes occurring early during anticancer treatment in children treated for ALL. These findings could aid in a better understanding of the cardiac toxicity mechanism, and they could potentially improve cardiac risk stratification for oncologic patients. Because of the small number of patients, our results need to be validated by larger studies.

Abstract
The introduction of chemotherapy agents has significantly transformed cancer treatment, with anthracyclines being one of the most commonly used drugs. While these agents have proven to be highly effective against various types of cancers, they come with complications, including neurotoxicity, nephrotoxicity, and cardiotoxicity. Among these side effects, cardiotoxicity is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality, with anthracyclines being the primary culprit. Chemotherapy medications have various mechanisms that can lead to cardiac injury. Hence, numerous studies have been conducted to decrease the cardiotoxicity of these treatments. Combination therapy with beta-blockers, Angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors, and angiotensin receptor blockers have effectively reduced such outcomes. However, a definitive preventive strategy is yet to be established. Meanwhile, sodium-glucose co-transporter-2 (SGLT-2) inhibitors lower blood glucose levels in type 2 diabetes by reducing its re-absorption in the kidneys. They are thus considered potent drugs for glycemic control and reduction of cardiovascular risks. Recent studies have shown that SGLT-2 inhibitors are crucial in preventing chemotherapy-induced cardiotoxicity. They enhance heart cell viability, prevent degenerative changes, stimulate autophagy, and reduce cell death. This drug class also reduces inflammation by inhibiting reactive oxygen species and inflammatory cytokine production. Moreover, it can not only reverse the harmful effects of anticancer agents on the heart structure but also enhance the effectiveness of chemotherapy by minimizing potential consequences on the heart. In conclusion, SGLT-2 inhibitors hold promise as a therapeutic strategy for protecting cancer patients from chemotherapy-induced heart damage and improving cardiovascular outcomes.

Abstract
The cardiovascular diseases have been among the most common malignancies and the first leading cause of death, even higher than cancer. The cardiovascular diseases can be developed as a result of cardiac dysfunction and damages to heart tissue. Exposure to toxic agents and chemicals that induce cardiac dysfunction has been of interest in recent years. The chemotherapy drugs are commonly used for cancer therapy and in these patients, cardiovascular diseases have been widely observed that is due to negative impact of chemotherapy drugs on the heart. These drugs increase oxidative damage and inflammation, and mediate apoptosis and cardiac dysfunction. Hence, nanotechnological approaches have been emerged as new strategies in attenuation of chemotherapy-mediated cardiotoxicity. The first advantage of nanoparticles can be explored in targeted and selective delivery of drugs to reduce their accumulation in heart tissue. Nanostructures can deliver bioactive and therapeutic compounds in reducing cardiotoxicity and alleviation toxic impacts of chemotherapy drugs. The functionalization of nanostructures increases their selectivity against tumor cells and reduces accumulation of drugs in heart tissue. The bioplatforms such as chitosan and alginate nanostructures can also deliver chemotherapy drugs and reduce their cardiotoxicity. The function of nanostructures is versatile in reduction of cardiotoxicity by chemotherapy drugs and new kind of platforms is hydrogels that can mediate sustained release of drug to reduce its toxic impacts on heart tissue. The various kinds of nanoplatforms have been developed for alleviation of cardiotoxicity and their future clinical application depends on their biocompatibility. High concentration level of chitosan nanoparticles can stimulate cardiotoxicity. Therefore, if nanotechnology is going to be deployed for drug delivery and reducing cardiotoxicity, the first pre-requirement is to lack toxicity on normal cells and have high biocompatibility.

Abstract
PURPOSE The aim was to provide evidence about the prevalence, incidence, and risk factors of cardiac electrical abnormalities in childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) survivors. METHODS We included all original studies reporting the incidence and/or prevalence of cardiac electrical abnormalities and/or risk factors associated with cardiac electrical abnormalities in childhood ALL survivors (< 21 years old at the time of their initial cancer diagnosis) who were post-treatment. Searches of the databases PubMed, Ovid MEDLINE(R) and Epub Ahead of Print, In-Process, In-Data-Review & Other Non-Indexed Citations, Daily and Versions(R), Ovid All EBM Reviews, Ovid Embase, and ISI Web of Science were completed in May 2023. The risk of bias was assessed using the standard JBI critical appraisal checklists. RESULTS The 11 studies included in this review (N = 1,264 participants) evaluated various parameters, including different cardiac electrical abnormalities. Five studies reported heart rate abnormalities (0-68%), six reported repolarization disorders (0-30%), two reported depolarization disorders (0-1%), seven reported rhythm disturbances or abnormalities (0-100%), four reported conduction disorders (0-10%), and three reported unclassified abnormalities (1-38%). No risk factors were reported. CONCLUSIONS Electrical heart problems have been observed in childhood ALL survivors after completion of treatment. Large prospective studies in childhood ALL survivors, clear definitions of cardiac electrical abnormalities, and comparison with a control group are warranted. IMPLICATIONS FOR CANCER SURVIVORS Cardiac electrical abnormalities induced by chemotherapy-related cardiotoxicity in the growing population of childhood ALL survivors need to be better characterized to ensure better long-term follow-up and improve overall survival rate.

Abstract
AIMS Haematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a potentially curative therapy for several malignant and non-malignant haematologic conditions. Patients undergoing HSCT are at an increased risk of developing atrial fibrillation (AF). We hypothesized that a diagnosis of AF would be associated with poor outcomes in patients undergoing HSCT. METHODS AND RESULTS The National Inpatient Sample (2016-19) was queried with ICD-10 codes to identify patients aged >50 years undergoing HSCT. Clinical outcomes were compared between patients with and without AF. A multivariable regression model adjusting for demographics and comorbidities was used to calculate the adjusted odds ratio (aOR) and regression coefficients with corresponding 95% confidence intervals and P-values. A total of 50 570 weighted hospitalizations for HSCT were identified, out of which 5820 (11.5%) had AF. Atrial fibrillation was found to be independently associated with higher inpatient mortality (aOR 2.75; 1.9-3.98; P < 0.001), cardiac arrest (aOR 2.86; 1.55-5.26; P = 0.001), acute kidney injury (aOR 1.89; 1.6-2.23; P < 0.001), acute heart failure exacerbation (aOR 5.01; 3.54-7.1; P < 0.001), cardiogenic shock (aOR 7.73; 3.17-18.8; P < 0.001), and acute respiratory failure (aOR 3.24; 2.56-4.1; P < 0.001) as well as higher mean length of stay (LOS) (+2.67; 1.79-3.55; P < 0.001) and cost of care (+67 529; 36 630-98 427; P < 0.001). CONCLUSION Among patients undergoing HSCT, AF was independently associated with poor in-hospital outcomes, higher LOS, and cost of care.

Abstract
Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) is a clinically common X-linked recessive myopathy, which is caused by mutation of the gene encoding dystrophin on chromosome Xp21. The onset of heart injury in children with DMD is inconspicuous, and the prognosis is poor once it develops to the stage of heart failure. Cardiovascular complications remain an important cause of death in this patient population. At present, population and animal studies have suggested that Electrocardiogram (ECG) changes may be the initial manifestation of cardiac involvement in children with DMD. Relevant clinical studies have also confirmed that significant abnormal ECG changes already exist in DMD patients before cardiomegaly and/or LVEF decrease. With increases in age and decreases in cardiac function, the proportion of ECG abnormalities in DMD patients increase significantly. Some characteristic ECG changes, such as ST-segment changes, T wave inversion, Q wave at the inferolateral leads, LBBB and SDANN, have a certain correlation with the indexes of cardiac remodeling or impaired cardiac function in DMD patients, while VT and LBBB have demonstrated relatively good predictive value for the occurrence of long-term DCM and/or adverse cardiovascular events or even death in DMD patients. The present review discusses the electrocardiographic features in children with DMD.

Abstract
The development of various antitumor drugs has significantly improved the survival of patients with cancer. Many first-line chemotherapy drugs are cytotoxic and the cardiotoxicity is one of the most significant effects that could leads to poor prognosis and decreased survival rate. Cancer treatment include traditional anthracycline drugs, as well as some new targeted drugs such as trastuzumab and ICIs. These drugs may directly or indirectly cause cardiovascular injury through different mechanisms, and lead to increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease or accelerating the development of cardiovascular disease. Cardiotoxicity is clinically manifested by arrhythmia, decreased cardiac function, or even sudden death. The cardiotoxicity caused by traditional chemotherapy drugs such as anthracyclines are significantly known. The cardiotoxicity of some new antitumor drugs such like immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) is also relatively clear and requiring further observation and verification. This review is focused on major three drugs with relatively high incidence of cardiotoxicity and poor prognosis and intended to provide an update on the clinical complications and outcomes of these drugs, and we innovatively summarize the monitoring status of survivors using these drugs and discuss the biomarkers and non-invasive imaging features to identify early cardiotoxicity. Finally, we summarize the prevention that decreasing antitumor drugs-induced cardiotoxicity.

Abstract
With one in five adults in the United States owning a smartwatch or fitness tracker, these devices are poised to impact all aspects of medicine by offering a more objective approach to replace self-reported data. Oncology has proved to be a prototypical example, and wearables offer immediate benefits to patients and oncologists with the ability to track symptoms and health metrics in real time. We aimed to review the recent literature on consumer-grade wearables and its current applications in cancer from the perspective of both the patient and the provider. The relevant studies suggested that these devices offer benefits, such as improved medication adherence and accuracy of symptom tracking over self-reported data, as well as insights that increase patient empowerment. Physical activity is consistently correlated with stronger patient outcomes, and a patient's real-time metrics were found to be capable of tracking medication side effects and toxicity. Studies have made associations between wearable data and telomere shortening, cardiovascular disease, alcohol consumption, sleep apnea, and other conditions. The objective data obtained by the wearable presents a more complete picture of an individual's health than the snapshot of a 15-minute office visit and a single set of vital signs. Real-time metrics can be translated into a digital phenotype that identifies risk factors specific to each patient, and shared risk factors across one's social network may uncover common environmental exposures detrimental to one's health. Wearable data and its upcoming integration with social media will be the foundation for the next generation of personalized medicine.
