Effects of Europium Complex on Thermal and Photoluminescence Properties of Polyurethane-Europium Materials

A europium complex with double bonds was synthesized with crotonic acid as the ligand and a europium ion as the center ion. Then, the obtained europium complex was added to synthesized poly(urethane-acrylate) macromonomers to prepare the bonded polyurethane-europium materials by the polymerization of the double bonds in the complex and the poly(urethane-acrylate) macromonomers. The prepared polyurethane-europium materials had high transparency, good thermal stability and good fluorescence. The storage moduli of polyurethane-europium materials are obviously higher than those of pure polyurethane. Polyurethane-europium materials exhibit bright red light with good monochromaticity. The light transmittance of the material decreases slightly with increases in the europium complex content, but the luminescence intensity gradually increases. In particular, polyurethane-europium materials possess a long luminescence lifetime, which has potential applications for optical display instruments.

Synthesis of cross-linked polyurethane elastomers with the inclusion of polar-aromatic moieties (BA, PNBA and 3, 5-DNBA): Electrical and thermo-mechanical properties analysis

In this work, we used the design strategy “doped nonpolar polymers” and synthesized the polyurethane elastomers (PUEs) by doping with highly polar aromatic molecules such as benzoic acid (BA), 4(para)-nitro-benzoic acid (PNBA), and 3, 5-di-nitro-benzoic acid (3, 5-DNBA) by using the solution casting method. The effect of each molecule in three different weight percentages 2%, 4%, and 6% on electrical and thermo-mechanical properties of the material has studied. Experiments were carried out to determine electrical properties such as DC volume resistivity, dielectric constant, and loss factor. DMA and DSC measurements were done to assess thermo-mechanical properties. Also, thermal conductivity measurement was carried out and a strong nitro group and doping percentage dependent results have been observed. A comparative analysis of the effect on the said properties was done among the doped and undoped PUEs.

Rigid Polyimides with Thermally Activated Delayed Fluorescence for Polymer Light-Emitting Diodes with High External Quantum Efficiency up to 21

A series of rigid nonconjugated polyimide (PI)-based thermally activated delayed fluorescence (TADF) polymers were reported for the first time, based on a "TADF-Linker-Host" strategy. Among of which, the TADF unit contains a typical TADF luminous core structure, the "Host" unit exhibits effective conjugation length that endows polyimide with high triplet energy, and the "Linker" unit has an aliphatic ring structure to improve solubility and inhibits intramolecular charge transfer effect. All the TADF polymers exhibit high thermal stability (T_g >308.7 °C) and refractive index (1.76-1.79). Remarkably, highly-efficient polymer light-emitting diodes (PLEDs) based on the polymers are successfully realized, leading to a maximal external quantum efficiency of 21.0 % along with low efficiency roll-off. Such outstanding efficiency is amongst the state-of-the-art performance of nonconjugated PLEDs, confirming the effectiveness of structural design strategy, providing helpful and valuable guidance on the development of highly-efficient fluorescent polymer materials and PLEDs.
