Abstract
Research indicates that idealized romantic expectations and the extent to which they are met, are important predictors of relationship outcomes (e.g., love). However, no studies have investigated the impact of idealized beliefs associated with specific behaviors (e.g., kissing) on reports of romantic love. Thus, the two studies comprising this research assessed the association between idealized beliefs related to one's first romantic kiss with their current partner, unmet first kiss expectations, and reports of romantic love. Romantic attachment was also examined as a moderator. In Study One, the First Kiss Beliefs Scale was created and the results from 208 adults revealed that increased endorsement of idealized first kiss beliefs was associated with greater romantic love (r = 0.25). Romantic attachment also moderated this relationship, such that idealized first kiss beliefs significantly predicted love for those high in attachment anxiety and low in avoidance (β = 0.68 and β = 0.18, respectively). In Study Two, the First Kiss Beliefs Scale was modified to assess outcomes and expectations to capture unmet expectations. The results from 234 adults indicated that idealized first kiss beliefs predicted a greater proportion of the variance in romantic love (sr2 = 0.10) than did unmet expectations (sr2 = 0.07). A three-way interaction was also detected such that, among those low in attachment anxiety, the relationship between kissing beliefs and love was positive for those high in attachment avoidance and negative for those low. These results indicate that idealized first kiss expectations with one's current romantic partner are important predictors of love (beyond whether these expectations were met), particularly for those high in attachment insecurity. Implications are discussed for practitioners and those in the primary stages of romantic relationships.

Abstract
Despite being the first line of defense against infection, little is known about how host-pathogen interactions determine avoidance. Caenorhabditis elegans can become infected by chemoattractant-producing bacteria through ingestion. The worms can learn to associate these chemoattractants with harm through aversive learning. As a result, the worms will avoid the pathogen. Evolutionary constraints have likely shaped the attraction, intoxication and learning dynamics between bacteria and C. elegans, but these have not been explored. Using bacteria engineered to express an acylhomoserine lactone chemoattractant and a nematicidal protein, we explored how manipulating the amount of attractant produced by the bacteria affects learning and intoxication in mixed stage populations of C. elegans. We found that increasing the production rate of the chemoattractant increased the feeding rate in C. elegans, but decreased the time required for C. elegans to learn to avoid the chemoattractant. Learning generally coincided with a decreased feeding rate. We also observed that the percentage of intoxicated worms was maximized at intermediate production rates of the attractant. We propose that interactions between attractant driven feeding rate and aversive learning are likely responsible for this trend. Our results increase our understanding of behavioral avoidance in C. elegans and have implications in understanding host-pathogen dynamics that shape avoidance.

Abstract
Romantic mouth-to-mouth kissing is culturally widespread, although not a human universal, and may play a functional role in assessing partner health and maintaining long-term pair bonds. Use and appreciation of kissing may therefore vary according to whether the environment places a premium on good health and partner investment. Here, we test for cultural variation (13 countries from six continents) in these behaviours/attitudes according to national health (historical pathogen prevalence) and both absolute (GDP) and relative wealth (GINI). Our data reveal that kissing is valued more in established relationships than it is valued during courtship. Also, consistent with the pair bonding hypothesis of the function of romantic kissing, relative poverty (income inequality) predicts frequency of kissing across romantic relationships. When aggregated, the predicted relationship between income inequality and kissing frequency (r = 0.67, BCa 95% CI[0.32,0.89]) was over five times the size of the null correlations between income inequality and frequency of hugging/cuddling and sex. As social complexity requires monitoring resource competition among large groups and predicts kissing prevalence in remote societies, this gesture may be important in the maintenance of long-term pair bonds in specific environments.

Abstract
Marriage dissolution has been extensively analyzed in the last few decades, looking for the determinants of this well-known phenomenon, but so far the relationship between female migration and marriage dissolution does not seem to have been thoroughly investigated. This work aimed to analyze the correlation between marriage dissolution and migration, which might bias the sex ratio within a given society, introducing new social and cultural values. Considering the Regions of Italy between 2002 and 2007 (i.e., 120 observations), several multiple regression models (OLS) were presented to test the proposed hypothesis, applying the robust option. The dependent variable of our empirical investigation was a marriage dissolution index, while the key explanatory variables were a sex ratio and several female rates. Based on the results, the hypothesis of a statistically significant positive relation between the influx of female immigrants and household dissolution could be supported (i.e., p < .01). However, not all migrating women are the same and a different impact is foreseeable according to the nature of this influx. Indeed, given a 1% influx of unmarried foreign females, increasing the sex ratio within society, marital dissolutions grow by 5381 for every 100,000 marriages. In the case of a 1% influx of Italian unmarried females, marital dissolutions grew by 3173 for every 100,000 marriages. Therefore, females could have specific sexual, social and cultural characteristics, which might be able to increase (or decrease) the probability of men being driven to sexual infidelity, thus leading to a higher frequency of marriage dissolutions.

Abstract
This paper provides an integrative review of neuroscientific and biobehavioral evidence about the effects of dance on the individual across cultural differences. Dance moves us, and many derive aesthetic pleasure from it. However, in addition-and beyond aesthetics-we propose that dance has noteworthy, deeper neurobiological effects. We first summarize evidence that illustrates the centrality of dance to human life indirectly from archaeology, comparative psychology, developmental psychology, and cross-cultural psychology. Second, we review empirical evidence for six neural and biobehavioral functions of dance: (1) attentional focus/flow, (2) basic emotional experiences, (3) imagery, (4) communication, (5) self-intimation, and (6) social cohesion. We discuss the reviewed evidence in relation to current debates in the field of empirical enquiry into the functions of human dance, questioning the positions that dance is (1) just for pleasure, (2) all about sex, (3) just for mood management and well-being, and (4) for experts only. Being a young field, evidence is still piecemeal and inconclusive. This review aims to take a step toward a systematization of an emerging avenue of research: a neuro- and biobehavioral science of dance.

Abstract
Romantic kissing is vastly understudied in scientific research, with only one study systematically examining romantic kissing motives and associated gender differences. The current study explored motives for romantic kissing in greater detail by examining whether gender, age, relationship status, sexual attitudes, and personality predicted variations in adults’ romantic kissing motives. Hierarchical multiple regression analyses (N = 461) revealed that those with more permissive sexual attitudes, higher levels of extraversion, those currently in committed relationships and those younger in age were most likely to endorse relational/sexual motives for romantic kissing. Goal attainment/insecurity motives were most frequently endorsed by men and those with more permissive sexual attitudes, higher levels of extraversion, lower levels of agreeableness, and lower levels of conscientiousness. Results emphasise the importance of a variety of variables in understanding motives for romantic kissing.

Abstract
Saliva is produced by both major (parotid and submandibular and sublingual) and minor (located in the mouth) glands, with different constituents and properties between the two groups. In the mouth saliva is a colorless, odorless, tasteless, watery liquid containing 99% water and 1% organic and inorganic substances and dissolved gases, mainly oxygen and carbon dioxide. Salivary constituents can be grouped into proteins (e.g., amylase and lysozyme), organic molecules (e.g., urea, lipids, and glucose mainly), and electrolytes (e.g., sodium, calcium, chlorine, and phosphates). Cellular elements such as epithelial cells, leukocytes and various hormones, and vitamins have also been detected. The composition of saliva is modified, depending on factors such as secreted amount, circadian rhythm, duration and nature of stimuli, diet, and medication intake, among others.
