Abstract
Background Osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a common joint disease caused by excessive drinking, genetic factors, etc. The purpose of this study was to investigate the association between PFKP and GPC6 variants and alcohol-induced ONFH (AIONFH) risk in the Chinese Han population. Methods This study genotyped 9 selected single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in 402 males by Agena MassARRAY Assay. By calculating odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs), we assessed the effect of gene polymorphisms on AIONFH occurrence. False-positive report probability (FPRP) analysis and power were also used to evaluate the significant results. Multifactor dimensionality reduction (MDR) software was also utilized to predict the association between the selected SNPs and AIONFH risk. Results The overall analysis showed that PFKP rs10903966 and GPC6 rs7320969 were correlated with AIONFH risk. GPC6 rs4773724 was associated with a reduced risk of AIONFH, while individuals with GPC6 rs9523981 CC genotype had a higher risk of AIONFH than individuals with the other genotypes among people under 42 years old. Based on stratified analysis of necrotic sites, rs7320969 was related to a decreased risk of AIONFH, while rs10903966 and rs9523981 were related to an increased risk of AIONFH. In addition, rs1008993 and rs7320969 were observed to be linked to AIONFH risk in patients at different clinical stages. Meanwhile, there were significant differences in TC, TG, platelet, ApoA1 and ApoB levels among subjects with different genotypes of rs1008993, rs9523981, rs7320969 and rs59624626. The results of MDR showed that rs11251720 and rs7320969 may play a synergistic role in predicting the risk of AIONFH. Conclusion PFKP rs10903966 and GPC6 rs9523981 were associated with an increased risk of AIONFH, while GPC6 (rs7320969 and rs4773724) were correlated with a decreased risk of AIONFH. This result will need further experiments to verify.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Abnormal lipid metabolism may play an important role in the development of nontraumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ON). By comparing lipid biomarkers in patients with ON and osteoarthritis (OA) after propensity score matching, we sought to reveal (1) common lipid biomarkers that are abnormal in ON regardless of the etiology and (2) specific lipid biomarkers associated with ON according to the etiology. METHODS Among 2,268 patients who underwent primary THA, 1,021 patients were eligible for this study. According to the Association Research Circulation Osseous criteria, ON was classified as either idiopathic (n = 230), alcohol-associated (n = 293), or glucocorticoid-associated ON (n = 132). Most common cause of OA was hip dysplasia in 106 patients (47%). We investigated patient lipid profiles by assessing total cholesterol (TC), high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C), low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C), triglycerides (TGs), apolipoprotein (Apo) A1 and B, lipoprotein (a) levels and ApoB/A1 ratio. Since age and body mass index affect the lipid profile, we performed propensity score matching to select 304 patients for final analysis and compared lipid profiles between the ON and OA groups. We also compared biomarkers between the ON subgroups and the OA group. RESULTS Overall, the ON group showed lower HDL-C (p < 0.001), higher TGs (p = 0.001) levels and higher ApoB/A1 ratio (p = 0.003). Idiopathic ON patients demonstrated lower HDL-C (p = 0.032), higher TGs (p = 0.016), ApoB (p = 0.024) levels and ApoB/A1 ratio (p = 0.008). The alcohol-associated ON subgroup showed lower HDL-C (p < 0.001), higher TGs (p = 0.010) levels and ApoB/A1 ratio (p = 0.030). Finally, the steroid-associated ON subgroup demonstrated lower HDL-C (p = 0.003), higher TGs (p = 0.039), lower TC (p = 0.022), LDL-C (p = 0.021), and ApoA1 (p = 0.004) levels. CONCLUSIONS Higher TGs and lower HDL-C levels were associated with nontraumatic ON regardless of the etiology. Additionally, idiopathic ON was associated with higher ApoB levels and ApoB/A1 ratio. Alcohol-associated ON was related to higher ApoB/A1 ratio, and steroid-associated ON paired with decreased TC, LDL-C, and ApoA1 levels. Our findings may support future efforts for prevention and management of nontraumatic ON. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE Diagnostic Level III.

Abstract
Introduction Steroid-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is a disease of the bone. Metabolism and genetic factors are generally considered to play an important role. The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in MIR17HG and MIR155HG and the risk of steroid-induced ONFH in the population of northern China. Methods A total of 199 steroid-induced ONFH patients and 506 healthy controls were recruited for the study. Four SNPs of MIR17HG and seven SNPs of MIR155HG were genotyped by Sequenom MassARRAY. ORs and 95% CIs were used to evaluate the relationship between these SNPs and steroid-induced ONFH. Results In the codominant model, patients with the MIR17HG SNPs (rs7318578) AA genotype had an increased risk of steroid-induced ONFH (OR = 1.79, p = 0.039); in the recessive model, patients with the MIR17HG SNP (rs7318578) AA genotype had an increased risk of steroid-induced ONFH (OR = 1.78, p = 0.032). Stratified analysis showed that a MIR17HG SNP (rs7318578) and the MIR155HG SNPs (rs77218221, rs11911469, rs34904192 and rs4143370) were closely related to different unornamented phenotypes of steroid-induced ONFH. Analysis of the clinical indicators revealed significant differences in high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) levels between the ONFH group and the control group (p = 0.005). In the MIR17HG SNP (rs75267932), patients with different genotypes had different levels of triglyceride (TG). The MIR155HG SNPs (rs77699734, rs1893650, and rs34904192) showed differences in triglyceride (TG), high-density lipoprotein (HDL-C) and low-density lipoprotein (LDL-C) levels in patients with different genotypes. Conclusion Our results confirm that MIR17HG and MIR155HG gene mutations are associated with steroid-induced ONFH susceptibility in the population of northern China, providing new evidence for the early detection and prevention of ONFH.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Early diagnosis and treatment of the osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH), a refractory disease, is imperative to prevent femoral head collapse; however, the existing solutions remain controversial. This study assessed the safety and efficacy of extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) combined with multiple drilling and intramedullary drug injection, a novel cocktail therapy, as a randomized controlled trial (RCT) model to postulate an alternative therapy for patients with early-stage ONFH. METHODS Femoral head necrosis patients aged 20 to 60 years with stage ARCO I-II were recruited. One hundred twenty eligible participants were randomized into four groups in a 1:1:1:1 ratio: extracorporeal shock wave therapy combined with multiple drilling and intramedullary drug injection (group EMI), extracorporeal shock wave therapy (group E), multiple drilling combined with intramedullary drug injection (group MI), and multiple drilling ("positive" control group; group M). The primary outcomes included effective rate, subchondral collapse rate of the femoral head, lesion size, and grade of bone marrow edema. Secondary outcomes included the Harris Hip Score and the visual analog scale. All outcomes were measured at the screening visit (baseline) and at the planned time intervals during treatment and follow-up, and the efficacy was statistically analyzed according to the intention-to-treat sub-populations and per-protocol sub-populations. OBJECTIVES To examine the clinical efficacy of ESWT combined with multiple drilling and intramedullary drug injection to provide a safe and more effective method for treating early-stage ONFH. Abstract
Background As a pathological process, osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is characterized by the avascularity of the femoral head, cellular necrosis, microfracture, and the collapse of the articular surface. Currently, critical treatment for early-stage ONFH is limited to core decompression. However, the efficacy of core decompression remains controversial. To improve the core decompression efficacy, regenerative techniques such as the use of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) were proposed for early-stage ONFH. As a type of autologous plasma containing concentrations of platelets greater than the baseline, PRP plays an important role in tissue repair, regeneration, and the differentiation of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs). In this review, we present a comprehensive overview of the operation modes, mechanism, and efficacy of PRP for early-stage ONFH treatment. Methods We searched for relevant studies in the PubMed, Web of Science, and Embase databases. By searching these electronic databases, the identification of either clinical or experimental studies evaluating PRP, MSC, core decompression, and ONFH was our goal. Results Seventeen studies of PRP and avascular necrosis of the femoral head were evaluated in our review. Ten studies related to the possible mechanism of PRP for treating ONFH were reviewed. Seven studies of the operation modes of PRP in treating ONFH were identified. We reviewed the efficacy of PRP in treating ONFH systematically and made an attempt to compare the PRP operation modes in 7 studies and other operation modes in past studies for early-stage ONFH treatment. Conclusion PRP treats ONFH mainly through three mechanisms: inducing angiogenesis and osteogenesis to accelerate bone healing, inhibiting inflammatory reactions in necrotic lesions, and preventing apoptosis induced by glucocorticoids. In addition, as an adjunctive therapy for core decompression, the use of PRP is recommended to improve the treatment of early-stage ONFH patients, especially when combined with stem cells and bone grafts, by inducing osteogenic activity and stimulating the differentiation of stem cells in necrotic lesions.

Abstract
Background Alcohol-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) is caused by the interaction of genetic and environmental factors. Genetic variations of matrix metalloproteinase (MMP) system are associated with ONFH development and progression. In this study, we aimed to evaluate the relationships between MMP20 gene polymorphisms and the risk of alcohol-induced ONFH in Chinese Han males. Material/Methods In this case-control study, genotypes of 14 selected SNPs in the MMP20 gene were assayed using MassARRAY in 299 male cases with alcohol-induced ONFH and in 197 healthy males. Odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) were calculated to assess the influence of gene polymorphism on occurrence of alcohol-induced ONFH by allelic model analysis, genotype model analysis and haplotype analysis. Results After allelic model analysis, the minimum alleles of rs10895322, rs1784424, rs3781788, and rs1573954 correlated with an increased risk of alcohol-induced ONFH (P<0.05). Genetic model analysis revealed significant associations of 9 SNPs with alcohol-induced ONFH occurrence even after adjustment for age (P<0.05): 2 protective SNPs (rs1711423 and rs1784418) and 7 high-risk SNPs (rs10895322, rs1784424, rs3781788, rs7126560, rs1573954, rs1711399, and rs2292730). Moreover, 8 SNPs showed a statistically significant association with different clinical phenotypes (P<0.05). Beyond that, haplotype “CGGTTCCA” in MMP20 was discovered to correlate with a 1.63-fold increased risk of alcohol-induced ONFH (OR: 1.63, 95% CI: 1.15–2.30, P=0.0058). Conclusions Our data sheds new light on the associations of MMP20 gene polymorphisms with alcohol-induced ONFH predisposition in Chinese Han males.

Abstract
Background In clinical treatment, the use of steroid hormones is an important etiological factor of non-traumatic osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) risk. As an endogenous inhibitor of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) in the extracellular matrix, the expression of tissue inhibitors of metalloprotease-4 (TIMP4) plays an essential role in cartilage and bone tissue damage and remodeling, vasculitis formation, intravascular thrombosis, and lipid metabolism. Methods This study aimed to detect the association between TIMP4 polymorphism and steroid-induced ONFH. We genotyped seven single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in TIMP4 genes and analyzed the association with steroid-induced ONFH from 286 steroid-induced ONFH patients and 309 normal individuals. Results We performed allelic model analysis and found that the minor alleles of five SNPs (rs99365, rs308952, rs3817004, rs2279750, and rs3755724) were associated with decreased steroid-induced ONFH (p = 0.02, p = 0.03, p = 0.04, p = 0.01, p = 0.04, respectively). rs2279750 showed a significant association with decreased risk of steroid-induced ONFH in the Dominant and Log-additive models (p = 0.042, p = 0.028, respectively), and rs9935, rs30892, and rs3817004 were associated with decreased risk in the Log-additive model (p = 0.038, p = 0.044, p = 0.042, respectively). In further stratification analysis, TIMP4 gene variants showed a significant association with steroid-induced ONFH in gender under the genotypes. Haplotype analysis also revealed that “TCAGAC” and “CCGGAA” sequences have protective effect on steroid-induced ONFH. Conclusion Our results indicate that five TIMP4 SNPs (rs99365, rs308952, rs3817004rs2279750, and rs3755724) are significantly associated with decreased risk of steroid-induced ONFH in the population of northern China.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The association of MMP-8 rs2012390 and rs11225394 polymorphisms with osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) risks was investigated in several studies with conflicting results. We performed the meta-analysis to evaluate the association between them. METHODS Potentially relevant literatures were searched from the electronic databases of PubMed, Web of Science, and Cochrane Library. All databases were searched up to May 6, 2018. The strength of associations of the MMP-8 rs2012390 and rs11225394 polymorphisms with ONFH risk was assessed by crude odds ratios (ORs) with their 95% confidence intervals (CIs) under different genetic models. RESULTS A total of 1469 cases diagnosed with ONFH and 1211 healthy controls were included in the current meta-analysis. A remarkable association between rs11225394 in the MMP-8 gene and an increased risk of ONFH was found (allele model: OR = 1.33, 95% CI = 1.09-1.61, P = .005; heterozygote model: OR = 1.39, 95% CI = 1.13-1.71, P = .002; dominant model: OR = 1.40, 95% CI = 1.14-1.73, P = .002, respectively). Meanwhile, a significant association between MMP-8 rs2012390 and the decreased risk of ONFH was found in heterozygote model (OR = 0.63, 95% CI = 0.51-0.77, P < .00001). CONCLUSION The meta-analysis results showed a remarkable association between rs11225394 in MMP-8 gene and an increased risk of ONFH and a significant association between MMP-8 rs2012390 and the decreased risk of ONFH.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH) is a disabling clinical entity affecting mainly young adults. Although Chinese Herbal Medicine (CHM) has been widely used as an adjunct therapy for ONFH in China, its effectiveness is not well defined. The purpose of this systematic review is to assess the effectiveness of CHM as an adjunct therapy to core decompression (CD) for patients with ONFH. METHODS A systematic literature search was conducted in 10 electronic databases. Randomized controlled trials involving CHM and CD for ONFH were included. Two authors independently assessed the studies for inclusion and extracted the data. A meta-analysis was conducted to estimate the safety and efficacy of CHM as an adjunct therapy. RESULTS Twenty-three randomized controlled trials with 1815 participants were included. The formulas used in these studies were different and we only combined data of studies observing the same formulas. Patients treated with CHM additionally exhibited a better TER (total effective rate) compared with CD alone in different degree, with the risk ratio (RR) varies from 1.09 to 1.09. The Harris score and radiographic effective rate indicate a similar result, with the medicine (MD) varies from 17.35 to 14.94 and RR 1.40 to 1.27. The risk of side-effect was barely reported except only 2 study record that no complications were observed. CONCLUSION This systematic review indicated that CHM as adjunctive therapy may improve the effectiveness of CD. However, a firm conclusion could not be reached because of overall high risk of bias in most domains. Further studies of higher quality are required, and other benefits of CHM remain to be determined.

Abstract
Background The objective of this study was to evaluate whether apolipoprotein gene polymorphisms confer susceptibility to osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH). Methods The relevant literature was screened from databases of Pubmed, Embase, Wanfang, Weipu and China National Knowledge Internet (CNKI) until May, 2017. In addition, odds ratio (OR) and its corresponding 95% confidence interval (CI) were used as a measure of effect size for calculating effect size. Results Totally, six case-control studies were included in this meta-analysis. It revealed that ApoB-C7623T polymorphism frequency was increased in ONFH group than in control group under three genetic models, including allele model (T vs. C, OR = 4.5149, 95% CI: 1.6968–12.0134); additive model (TC vs. CC, OR = 6.2515, 95% CI: 2.0939–18.6640); and dominant model (TT + TC vs. CC, OR = 5.4998, 95% CI: 1.9246–15.7163). In addition, the increased risk of ONFH were related to ApoA1-rs1799837 polymorphism under additive model (AA vs. GG, OR = 1.4175, 95% CI: 1.0522–1.9096) and recessive model (AA vs. GG + AG, OR = 1.7727, 95% CI: 1.3399–2.3452). However, four ApoB rs1042031, rs693, 3’-VNTR and G12619A polymorphisms under the all genetic models were not associated with susceptibility to ONFH. Conclusion The T allele and TC genotype of ApoB-C7623T and AA genotype of ApoA1-rs1799837 may contribute to increase the risk of ONFH.

Abstract
Background Common variants of multiple genes played a crucial role in osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) onset which was proved by many previous reports. We hypothesized that polymorphisms in NOS3, ABCB1 and IL23R were related to individual differences in alcohol sensitivity and the development of alcohol-induced ONFH. Methods In this case-control study, we evaluated 8 SNPs in three genes in the Chinese Han population including 355 male cases and 355 healthy male controls. These SNPs were genotyped by Sequenom MassARRAY RS1000. To identify their relationship with alcohol-induced ONFH susceptibility using χ2 test and genetic model analysis. Results We found an association with alcohol-induced ONFH susceptibility for 4 SNPs (rs743506, rs3918184, rs13233308 and rs6693831) in three genes after adjusted by age. The genotype “G/A” of rs743506 in NOS3 gene acts as a risk factor in genotype (P = 0.003), dominant (P = 0.048), recessive (P = 0.005) and additive model(P = 0.006); The genotype “T/C” of rs3918184 in NOS3 gene acts as a risk factor in genotype (P = 0.012) and recessive model (P = 0.009); The genotype “T/C” of rs13233308 in ABCB1 gene acts as a risk factor in genotype (P = 0.038) and additive model(P = 0.041); The genotype “T/C” of rs6693831 in IL23R gene acts as a protective factor in genotype model (P = 0.046). Conclusions This study provides evidence for three alcohol-induced ONFH susceptibility genes (NOS3, ABCB1 and IL23R) in Chinese males and polymorphisms of them may be associated with alcohol-induced ONFH risk.

Abstract
Our study investigated the association between MMP-3 and MMP-8 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) and alcohol-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in 695 Chinese males (299 cases and 396 control subjects). The minor allele of MMP-3 rs650108 was associated with a 0.78-fold decrease in alcohol-induced ONFH risk in the allelic model (95% CI = 0.63-0.97, P = 0.026). In the genetic model adjusted for age, rs650108 was associated with decreased risk of alcohol-induced ONFH in the dominant model (OR = 0.68, 95% CI = 0.49-0.95, P = 0.022) and log-additive model (OR = 0.78, 95% CI = 0.63-0.98, P = 0.030); MMP-8 rs11225394 was associated with increased risk in the codominant model (OR = 1.72, 95% CI = 1.15-2.58, P= 0.010), dominant model (OR = 1.67, 95% CI = 1.12-2.48, P = 0.012), over-dominant model (OR = 1.73, 95% CI = 1.16-2.59, P = 0.007) and log-additive model (OR = 1.57, 95% CI= 1.07-2.32, P = 0.022); and MMP-8 rs2012390 was associated with decreased risk in the dominant model (OR = 0.72, 95% CI = 0.53-0.97, P = 0.032) and log-additive model (OR = 0.77, 95% CI = 0.60-0.98, P = 0.035). Haplotype analysis showed that the CGATATGT sequence mediated decreased alcohol-induced ONFH risk (OR = 0.75, 95% CI = 0.57-0.97, P = 0.029). Therefore, among Chinese males, MMP-3 rs650108 and MMP-8 rs2012390 decrease alcohol-induced ONFH risk and MMP-8 rs11225394 increases it. Further study is needed to validate our conclusion.

Abstract
The study aimed to evaluate the association between MMP gene superfamily and alcohol-induced osteonecrosis of femoral head (alcohol-induced ONFH) risk given its high prevalence, poor therapeutic effect, and serious clinical prognosis. 308 subjects (mean age, 49.47 years; males, 64.0%) who participated in our control group and 300 alcohol-induced ONFH patients (mean age, 43.29 years; males, 99.7%) formed the case group was enrolled to estimate by statistical analysis. We selected 23 single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) from MMPs, and performed the chi-squared test, Fisher's exact test, t-test and genetic model analyses. From the result, rs243849 which located in MMP2 were 1.355 (1.014-1.811), 1.34 (1.01-1.78) in allele model and log-addictive model, respectively. And the p-value of rs243849 in Cochran-Armitage trend test is 0.044. Unfortunately, the similar results of these SNPs were not observed when adjusted by gender and age. Our study is not enough to supply a positive result to benefit for alcohol-induced ONFH clinical prevention, but guide out a new direction for further experiment.

Abstract
The proportion of alcohol-induced osteonecrosis of the femoral head (ONFH) in all ONFH patients was 30.7%, with males prevailing among the ONFH patients in mainland China (70.1%). Matrix metalloproteinase 2 (MMP2), a member of the MMP gene family, encodes the enzyme MMP2, which can promote osteoclast migration, attachment, and bone matrix degradation. In this case-control study, we aimed to investigate the association between MMP2 and the alcohol-induced ONFH in Chinese males.In total, 299 patients with alcohol-induced ONFH and 396 healthy controls were recruited for a case-control association study. Five single-nucleotide polymorphisms within the MMP2 locus were genotyped and examined for their correlation with the risk of alcohol-induced ONFH and treatment response using Pearson χ test and unconditional logistic regression analysis. We identified 3 risk alleles for carriers: the allele "T" of rs243849 increased the risk of alcohol-induced ONFH in the allele model, the log-additive model without adjustment, and the log-additive model with adjustment for age. Conversely, the genotypes "CC" in rs7201 and "CC" in rs243832 decreased the risk of alcohol-induced ONFH, as revealed by the recessive model. After the Bonferroni multiple adjustment, no significant association was found. Furthermore, the haplotype analysis showed that the "TT" haplotype of MMP2 was more frequent among patients with alcohol-induced ONFH by unconditional logistic regression analysis adjusted for age.In conclusion, there may be an association between MMP2 and the risk of alcohol-induced ONFH in North-Chinese males. However, studies on larger populations are needed to confirm this hypothesis; these data may provide a theoretical foundation for future studies.

Abstract
Polymorphisms of apolipoprotein B (ApoB), apolipoprotein A1 (ApoA1) gene and ApoB/ApoA1 Ratio were associated with lipid metabolism disorders in previous reports. The aim of this study assess whether variation of ApoB, ApoA1 gene are associated or not with alcohol-induced osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH). In a case-control study, we genotyped 4 single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) in ApoB and ApoA1 genes in 209 alcohol-induced ONFH patients and 300 healthy control subjects in Han Chinese population using χ(2) test and genetic model analysis. The analysis revealed that the frequencies of ApoB and ApoA1 genotypes were significantly different in alcohol-induced ONFH patients than in controls. We identified rs1042034, rs676210 and rs673548 in ApoB gene were associated with decreased risk of alcohol-induced ONFH using recessive model analysis (odds ratio [OR], 0.44; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.19-0.99; P = 0.042), the OR, CI, P value of three SNPs were the same after adjusted for gender + age. We also identified rs632153 in ApoA1 gene was associated with increased risk of alcohol-induced ONFH using allele model (OR, 1.83; 95% CI, 1.16-2.88; P = 0.008) and log-additive model (adjusted OR, 1.77; 95% CI, 1.00-3.14; P = 0.046), analysis respectively. Haplotype analysis demonstrated no difference between ApoB and alcohol-induced ONFH. Polymorphisms of the ApoB and ApoA1 gene are associated with alcohol-induced ONFH in the Han Chinese population.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Previous studies suggested that apolipoprotein A5 (ApoA5) genetic polymorphisms (SNPs) may result in lipid metabolism disorders. Therefore, genetic polymorphisms in ApoA5 may be associated with the occurrence of osteonecrosis of femoral head (ONFH). METHODS We designed a case-control study including 223 patients of osteonecrosis and 201 age- and sex-matched control subjects to analyze the association between ApoA5 polymorphisms and susceptibility of steroid-induced ONFH. We utilized polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) method to genotype two SNPs (rs662799 and rs3135506) in ApoA5 gene. RESULTS We found both rs662799 and rs3135506 were associated with the risk of ONFH in codominant, dominant, and recessive model, respectively. Haplotype analyses suggested that T-C haplotype was associated with decreased risk of ONFH, whereas the haplotype C-C was significantly associated with an increased risk of ONFH. CONCLUSION Our study suggested that ApoA5 genetic polymorphisms were associated with susceptibility to ONFH in Chinese population. However, our results need further investigation with large sample size and various populations.
