Abstract
A scoping review of 45 peer-reviewed manuscripts involving intraocular pressure (IOP) change and concurrent optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) assessments was performed to aggregate knowledge, summarize major findings, and identify gaps in literature and methodology relating to the effect of IOP change on OCTA. Articles were identified through PubMed/Medline, Google Scholar, Cochrane, Web of Science, and article reference lists. A total of 838 results were identified, and 45 articles met the inclusion and exclusion criteria for detailed analysis. OCTA metrics including vessel density (VD), perfusion density, and flow density of the superficial capillary plexus and the radial peripapillary capillaries were analyzed in relation to relative temporal IOP changes. Overall, IOP changes were found to affect superficial vascular plexus (VD) measurements on OCTA, especially when IOP elevated above the physiologic normal range (10-21 mmHg). No significant association was found between diurnal IOP variation and OCTA metrics. Cataract surgery improved the whole-image signal strength and VD regardless of changes in IOP. Beta-blockers were associated with paradoxically reduced vessel density in normal tension glaucoma patients in two studies. Although glaucoma surgical intervention studies were inconsistent and limited by scan quality and low sample sizes, patients requiring glaucoma surgery exhibited attenuated postoperative superficial VD recovery despite significant IOP reductions with surgical intervention. In addition to ensuring near-perfect signal strength with minimal media opacities and controlling for high myopia, central corneal thickness, and the presence of retinopathy, clinicians should consider the statistically significant impact of IOP on OCTA metrics when interpreting results.

Abstract
(1) Background: Given the global prevalence of glaucoma and the crucial role of intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction in the management of the disease, understanding the immediate effects on retinal structure and function is essential. (2) Methods: This study aimed to assess the effects of preservative-free latanoprost on morphological and functional parameters in treatment-naïve patients with ocular hypertension and open-angle glaucoma. (3) Results: This study showed a significant reduction in IOP by an average of 30.6% after treatment with preservative-free latanoprost. Despite the significant reduction in IOP, no statistically significant changes were observed in the electroretinogram (ERG) nor the optical coherence tomography/angiography (OCT/OCTA) parameters compared to baseline. An exploration of the correlation between IOP changes and various parameters revealed a significant association solely with the macular IPL/INL plexus vessel density (VD) measured with OCTA. (4) Conclusions: This finding suggests a possible association between IOP reduction and changes in the macular microcirculation and provides valuable insights into the differential effects of latanoprost. Acknowledging the study limitations, this study emphasizes the need for larger, longer-term investigations to comprehensively assess the sustained effects of preservative-free latanoprost on both IOP and retinal parameters. In addition, exploring systemic factors and conducting subgroup analyses could improve personalized approaches to glaucoma treatment.

Abstract
PRCIS Relative flow indices as novel optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) biomarkers demonstrated reduced optic nerve head and peripapillary large vessel and capillary perfusion in primary open angle glaucoma (POAG). Large vessel perfusion correlated with disease severity and progression. PURPOSE To introduce relative flow indices as novel OCTA biomarkers and their pathologic insights in POAG. MATERIALS AND METHODS This is a retrospective case-control study where 57 POAG and 57 control eyes were included. OCTA 4.5×4.5 mm optic nerve head (ONH) were analyzed using ImageJ 1.53t to calculate global flow indices (GFIs) and relative flow indices (RFIs) for whole image optic nerve head, isolated radial peripapillary capillary plexus, and isolated large vessel angiograms. RESULTS Retinal nerve fiber layer thickness (RNFLT), ONH vascular density (VD), except inside disc and large vessel VD, GFIs, and RFIs were lower in POAG than control. There was a positive correlation between RNFLT and both VD and GFIs. Among RFIs, only large vessel RFI (ONHLVRFI) demonstrated a positive correlation with average RNFLT. Linear regression demonstrated a significant positive coefficient for ONHLVRFI with RNFLT as the dependent variable. The area under receiver operating characteristic curve showed diagnostic accuracy ranging fair, good, and excellent for all biomarkers. Inferior RNFLT had the highest area under the curve (0.922) while optic nerve head large vessel density had the lowest (0.523). CONCLUSIONS POAG showed structural loss of RNFL neurovascular unit manifesting as positively correlated reduction of VD and RNFLT. Also, POAG had lower global perfusion of the optic nerve head and peripapillary area, resulting in the positively correlated reduction of GFIs and RNFLT. Although RFIs were lower in POAG, only ONHLVRFI demonstrated a positive correlation and regression with RNFLT, implying that large vessel hypoperfusion was associated with POAG severity and progression.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is a novel technology that provides a noninvasive, dye-less method to visualize the blood vessels of the retina. In the present study, we investigate macular microvascular density and the correlation of ocular and demographic factors using OCTA in Posner-Schlossman syndrome (PSS) patients. METHODS This is a prospective observational study. All PSS patients and age- and sex-matched healthy subjects underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, and RE, BCVA, IOP, CCT, AL, CMT, GCIPI, RNFL, C/D ratio were recorded. The whole-image vessel density (wiVD) and whole-image perfusion density (wiPD), three-circle (1 mm central ring, 3 mm inner ring, 6 mm outer ring), and four-quadrant segmental VD and PD were calculated. RESULTS Seventeen PSS patients and 17 healthy subjects were enrolled in this study. The mean age was 42.65 ± 11.22 years in PSS patients and 42.71 ± 10.50 years in healthy controls. IOP, CCT, and C/D ratio were higher in PSS-attacked eyes, and BCVA, OPP and RNFL thickness was lower than those in the fellow eyes (p < 0.05). BCVA and OPP were improved in the PSS-attacked eyes in intermittent period (p < 0.05). The wiVD and wiPD were lower in the PSS-affected eyes than in the fellow eyes and in the control eyes in the PSS-attacked period (p < 0.05). All segmental VD and PD was lower in the PSS affected eyes than in the healthy control eyes (p < 0.05). In intermittent period, the wiVD and wiPD were lower in the PSS-affected eyes than in the fellow eyes (p < 0.05). Age, CCT, and SSI were associated with macular wiVD and wiPD in PSS attacked period. Age and CCT were associated with macular wiVD and wiPD in PSS intermittent period. CONCLUSION Decreased macular superficial VD and PD was found in patients with Posner-Schlossman syndrome in attacked period and in remission. Macular wiVD and wiPD were associated with age, CCT and SSI in PSS patients.

Abstract
The aim of the study was to compare the treatment of hypertensive glaucoma (HTG) in the early stages with carteolol and latanoprost by assessing the change in vessel density (VD) and retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL). Methods: The first group with diagnosed HTG consisted of 46 eyes treated with carteolol; the second group consisted of 52 eyes treated with latanoprost. The following examinations were evaluated in all patients: intraocular pressure (IOP), retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL), vessel density (VD) and visual field examination (glaucoma fast threshold test). The results were compared before treatment and 3 months after treatment. Results: There was no difference in the overall visual field defect (OD) between groups before treatment. After treatment, there was a decrease in IOP in both groups (carteolol-treated group had a mean decrease of 5.8 mmHg and latanoprost-treated eyes had a mean decrease of 7 mmHg). This difference was not statistically significant (p = 0.133). No similar difference was observed for RNFL (p = 0.161). In contrast, the change in the VD parameter was statistically significant between groups (p < 0.05), with a greater difference observed in the carteolol-treated group of eyes. Carteolol had a better effect on the VD.

Abstract
PURPOSE To monitor effect of caffeine on vasculature of the inner retina of high myopes METHODS: This was a crossover, self-control, randomized trial. Healthy young high myopes were recruited to take 200 mg of caffeine capsule and placebo capsule, randomly assigned in two visits separated by at least one week. Superficial retinal vasculature in terms of vessel length density (VD) and perfusion area density (PD) was captured and monitored using a spectral domain optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) machine. After baseline measurements, blood pressure (BP), intraocular pressure (IOP), and subfoveal choroidal thickness (ChT) were also monitored at 30-min intervals till 3 h. RESULTS Eighteen subjects (6 male, 24.3 ± 3.1 years) completed the study. After taking the caffeine capsule, there was a significant increase in BP (p < 0.01), and reduction in ChT (p < 0.01), with no change in IOP (p = 0.36). VD demonstrated a trend of reduction at the central 1-mm circle, and 1-3 mm annulus (p < 0.01) following the ETDRS grid. Reduction trend of PD appeared at the central 1-mm circle, 1-3 mm annulus, and the entire 3-mm circle (p < 0.01). Compared with baseline, VD and PD reductions were significant 180 min after taking the caffeine capsule at the central 1-mm circle, but the reduction was small (VD: by 1mm-1; PD: by 1%). Changes in other regions were not significant. CONCLUSIONS The current study found significant reduction in VD and PD after taking 200 mg of caffeine capsule. Such a small amount of alteration may be clinically irrelevant.

Abstract
Purpose: The study aimed to evaluate the effect of intraocular pressure (IOP) reduction on macular and peripapillary microcirculation in patients with Posner-Schlossman syndrome (PSS) by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). Methods: A prospective comparative study was conducted. Patients diagnosed with PSS at the Eye Center of Xiangya Hospital, Central South University, from February 2020 to November 2021 were consecutively included. OCTA was used for the macular and peripapillary microcirculation measurements, and optical coherence tomography (OCT) was employed for the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) and lamina cribrosa depth (LCD) measurements. The patients received OCT and OCTA examinations at baseline and 1 week post-treatment when the IOP was under control. Changes in macular and peripapillary microcirculation, RNFL, and LCD were calculated for all the analyzed areas. Results: Twenty-one eyes from 21 patients were included in the study. Pre-treatment and post-treatment IOP were 43.17 ± 10.36 mm Hg (range, 30-60 mm Hg) and 17.17 ± 2.85 mm Hg (range, 13-23 mm Hg), respectively. No statistically significant changes were detected in RNFL, LCD, or macular and peripapillary microcirculation after significant IOP reduction. Conclusion: The results suggested that a large IOP reduction may not result in a significant increase in peripapillary and macular capillary perfusion in patients with PSS.

Abstract
The aim of the present study was to investigate the relationship between intraocular pressure (IOP), vessel density (VD), retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) parameters and overall defect (OD) of the visual field in eyes where antiglaucoma treatment had not yet been initiated. A total of 61 subjects (122 eyes) who had an IOP of >20 mmHg on several occasions, in at least one eye, in routine outpatient care were included. These were subjects who had never been treated for hypertension glaucoma. The cohort was divided into four subgroups. In the first group, there were 18 eyes with an IOP value of <20 mmHg. In the second group, there were 39 eyes with IOP values of 20-22 mmHg. The third group consisted of 32 eyes with IOP values of 22-24 mmHg and the final group consisted of 33 eyes with IOP values of >24 mmHg. The IOP results were compared with VD, RNFL and OD using Pearson's correlation coefficient to assess the relationship between the selected parameters. RNFL and OD were moderately correlated only in the group of eyes with an IOP value >24 (r=0.48); in the other groups the correlation was very weak. However, changes in visual field were already observed in eyes with IOP 20-22 mmHg (r=-0.27). There was a moderate correlation in eyes with an IOP value >24 mmHg (r=-0.53). The most significant result observed was the relationship between VD and RNFL. In eyes with an IOP value ≤20, a moderate to strong correlation between these parameters was observed. This relationship increased with increasing IOP values up to a very strong correlation in the group with an IOP value >24 mmHg. A moderate to strong dependence between VD and RNFL in eyes with an IOP value ≤20 mmHg was observed, and this dependence was very strongly correlated in the eyes with an IOP value >24 mmHg.

Abstract
Purpose: To investigate the relationship between retinal microvasculature changes and intraocular pressure (IOP) for ocular hypertension (OHT) patients and further assess the factors associated with retinal microcirculation changes. Methods: This was a single-center prospective study designed for OHT patients, which consisted of two visits. After collecting baseline data of those who met the eligibility criteria, these patients were treated with latanoprost 0.005% ophthalmic solution for 4 weeks. Peripapillary vessel density (VD) of radial peripapillary capillaries (RPC) layer, macular VD in both superficial and deep layers, and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) area were measured by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) before and after the treatment. We compared the changes in IOP and VD among the two visits by paired-sample t-test. Bonferroni correction was applied. Factors associated with VD changes were analyzed by linear regression analysis. Results: Thirty-four eyes of thirty-four patients were included. The mean IOP decreased by 6.5 ± 2.2 mmHg (p < 0.001). The peripapillary RPC VD increased significantly from 51.8 ± 2.5 to 53.0 ± 3.1% (Adjusted-p = 0.012). We found no significant difference in detailed sectors of the peripapillary region after correction. In the macular area, both the superficial and deep layers in foveal (superficial: 0.2 ± 1.9%, p = 0.523; deep: 0.0 ± 2.3%, p = 0.969) and parafoveal (superficial: 0.3 ± 3.0%, p = 0.565; deep: 0.5 ± 3.1%, p = 0.423) VD remained unchanged. The decrease of the mean FAZ area was insignificant (p = 0.295). The percentage of IOP reduction (β = 0.330, p = 0.031) and the baseline RNFL thickness (β = 0.450, p = 0.004) significantly correlated with the percentage of peripapillary RPC VD improvement in the multivariate linear regression analysis. Conclusion: The peripapillary VD in OHT patients increased after the reduction of IOP. The mild change of IOP did not alter the microcirculation in the macula. In addition, the percentage of IOP change and the baseline RNFL thickness were independent factors for the peripapillary RPC VD improvement.

Abstract
Purpose To quantify the microvasculature density of the optic nerve head (ONH) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) analysis in patients recovered from Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19). Methods In a comparative cross-sectional, observational study, patients recovered from COVID-19 whose initial diagnosis was confirmed by a rRT-PCR of a nasopharyngeal sample were included in this study. OCTA of ONH was performed in included patients and normal controls. Vascular density (VD) of the all vessels (AV) and small vessels (SV) inside the disc and radial peripapillary capillary (RPC) network density were measured in COVID-19 recovered patients and compared with similar parameters in an age-matched group of normal controls. Results Twenty-five COVID-19 patients and twenty-two age-matched normal controls were enrolled in the study and one eye per participant was evaluated. The mean whole image SV VD in the COVID-19 group (49.31 ± 1.93) was not statistically significantly different from that in the control group (49.94 ±. 2.22; P = 0.308). A decrease in RPC VD was found in all AV and SV VD measured, which became statistically significant in whole peripapillary SV VD, peripapillary inferior nasal SV VD, peripapillary inferior temporal SV VD, peripapillary superior nasal SV VD, and grid-based AV VD inferior sector (P< 0.05). Inside disc SV VD in the COVID-19 group (49.43 ± 4.96) was higher than in the control group (45.46 ± 6.22) which was statistically significant (P = 0.021). Conclusion Unremarkable decrease was found in ONH microvasculature in patients who had recovered from COVID-19. These patients may be at risk of ONH vascular complications. Increase in inner disc SV VD may be an indicator of ONH hyperemia and edema.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The purpose of this study was to investigate diagnostic ability of peripapillary vessel density of primary angle closure glaucoma (PACG) eyes in quadrant and clock-hour sectors by optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA). METHODS This was a cross-sectional study on forty-one PACG patients (41eyes) and twenty-seven healthy subjects (27 eyes). All subjects underwent OCTA (DRI OCT Triton; Topcon Corporation, Tokyo, Japan) and peripapillary retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) thickness imaging with swept-source optical coherence tomography (OCT). The peripapillary vessel density of quadrant and clock-hour sectors was quantified by imageJ software. The diagnostic capability of OCTA and OCT parameters was evaluated by the areas under the receiver operating characteristics curves (AUCs). Pearson correlation analysis or Spearman correlation test was used to evaluate the correlation between vessel density parameters and related factors. RESULTS Compared with the control group, the peripapillary vessel density of glaucomatous group was lower to different degrees in the four quadrants and each clock-hour sectors, and vessel density reduced most at 7 o'clock. The difference between the diagnostic ability of peripapillary vessel density and peripapillary RNFL thickness was not statistically significant, except 4 o'clock and inferior quadrant. The inferior quadrant peripapillary vessel density had the best diagnostic value (AUC0.969), followed by the 7 o'clock vessel density (AUC0.964), average vessel density (AUC0.939) and the 7 o'clock RNFL thickness (AUC0.919). The average peripapillary vessel density was correlated with average RNFL and visual field (VF) mean deviation (P < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS In PACG, the diagnostic ability of the peripapillary vessel density is equivalent to the peripapillary RNFL thickness. Understanding spatial characteristics of the peripapillary vessel density in PACG may be helpful for clinical diagnosis and monitoring the progress of diseases.

Abstract
A limitation of conventional optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) is the limited field of view normally used in data acquisition. As the technology improves, larger fields of view that capture information away from the macular are being explored in order to provide an enhanced ability to detect pathology. However, normative measurements for important OCTA metrics like vessel density and intercapillary distance are not currently well-characterized in the peripheral retina. In this prospective study, we measured vessel density and intercapillary distance of the superficial vascular complex, ganglion cell layer plexus, and deep capillary plexus in montaged macular/temporal scans from 53 (33 men) healthy volunteers. Vessel density and intercapillary distance were also compared across different regions of the retina, including along arcs at separate distance from the fovea. Compared to the central macular region, the temporal retina had significantly lower vessel density, decreased thickness, and greater intercapillary distance in the superficial vascular complex, GCLP ganglion cell layer plexus, and deep capillary plexus (Wilcoxon rank sum test P < 0.001), with each of the plexuses examined here showing a general decrease in vessel density and an increase in intercapillary distance towards the temporal region. No significant difference was noted comparing corresponding vessel density and intercapillary distance regions above and below the macula, and multiple linear regression showed that age and intraocular pressure were not associated with vessel density and intercapillary distance in most models. Repeatability analysis reported as intraclass correlation coefficients demonstrated moderate to excellent reliability of vessel density and intercapillary distance in all OCTA layers. These results should help provide an enhanced baseline to help identify vascular pathology in the peripheral retina.

Abstract
Glaucoma is an optic neuropathy characterized by well-defined optic disc morphological changes (i.e., cup enlargement, neuroretinal border thinning, and notching, papillary vessel modifications) consequent to retinal ganglion cell loss, axonal degeneration, and lamina cribrosa remodeling. These modifications tend to be progressive and are the main cause of functional damage in glaucoma. Despite the latest findings about the pathophysiology of the disease, the exact trigger mechanisms and the mechanism of degeneration of retinal ganglion cells and their axons have not been completely elucidated. Neuroinflammation may play a role in both the development and the progression of the disease as a result of its effects on retinal environment and retinal ganglion cells. We summarize the latest findings about neuroinflammation in glaucoma and examine the connection between risk factors, neuroinflammation, and retinal ganglion cell degeneration.

Abstract
The paper presents the up-to-date overview of pathogenesis, functional and structural changes in normotensive glaucoma (NTG) and its differences from hypertensive glaucoma (HTG). The autors point out new facts that distinguish both diagnostic groups. In the first place are the results of OCT angiography, which verify the pathology of NTG to the anterior part of optic nerve. Our findings confirmed that vascular component (VD) is more involved in changes of visual field than in perfusion parameters, especially in arteria ophtalmica (AO). Perfusion in arteria centralis retinae (ACR) does not play a significant role in NTG changes in the visual field. VD has very little effect on changes in visual field in HTG. Similarly, the retinal nerve fiber layer (RNFL) for changes in the visual field. Howerver, VD is moderately influenced by changes in RNFL. It should be emphasized that we compared the sum of sensitivity in the central part of the visual field (0-22 degrees) with RNFL and VD. In NTG, the anterior part of the optic nerve is altered. Mainly VD contributes to visual filed changes in NTG. It is also important to note that when the intraocular pressure (IOP) increased above 20 mm Hg, the macular and papillary VD was significantly reduced. Antiglaucomatous treatment with prostaglandins and beta-blockers is essential for the reduction of IOP in HTG. This reduction shoud be bellow 20 mm Hg, in eyes with thinner cornea the decrease in IOP should be more pronounced. It does not matter which antiglaucoma treatment was used. However, it should be noted that prostaglandins have a greater effect on disease progression, but the greater protective effect on the visual field have beta-blockers. Neuroprotectives should be recommended systemically in patients with HTG. When treating NTG, it is important to maintain blood flow of the posterior pole of the eye, but mainly of the anterior part of the optic nerve. Prostaglandins are not suitable in NTG patients, although their effect on IOL reduction is high. Beta-blockers (betaxolol and carteol) and brimonidine are most suitable. Corneal thickness has no effect on disease progression.

Abstract
AIM The aim of the study was to determine whether hypertensive glaucoma (HTG) with different types of treatment leads to significant damage in any of the evaluated parameters. SAMPLE AND METHODOLOGY The sample, consisting of 36 HTG patients (72 eyes), was divided into three subgroups: In the first group, patients were treated with combination therapy (latanoprost + timolol, latanoprost + dorzolamide + timolol, dorzolamide + timolol). The group consisted of seven women and five men, with an average age of 64 years (49-81). In the second group, patients were treated with beta-blockers (carteolol, betaxolol, timolol). The group consisted of five women and five men, with an average age of 62 years (27-77). In the third group, patients were treated with prostaglandins (latanoprost, bimatoprost). The group consisted of eleven women and three men, with an average age of 61 years (61-78). Criteria for inclusion in the study were visual acuity of 1.0 with a possible correction of less than ±3 dioptres, approximately the same changes in the visual fields of all patients, an intraocular pressure (IOP) of less than 18 mmHg, and no other ocular or neurological disease. The retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) on the optic nerve target and vessel density (VD) was measured using an Avanti RTVue XR from Optovue. We determined the values of VD in whole image (WI) and VD of peripapillary (PP). In both cases, we then measured all vessels (VDa) and small vessels (VDs). The visual field was examined by means of a fast threshold glaucoma program with a Medmont M 700 instrument. In addition to the sum of sensitivities in apostilbs (asb) in the range of 0-22 degrees, the overall visual field defect (OD) was also evaluated. The statistical analysis was carried out using a multivariate regression model with adjustment for age and gender. The measured values of the third group were taken as baseline. RESULTS In the statistical analysis, we have found differences in visual field in the combination treatment group (p = 0.0006) and differences were recorded for RNFL in the beta-blocker group (p = 0.04).

Abstract
AIMS The main aim of this work was to find out if there is a correlation between vessel density (VD) and results of measured perfusion values in ophthalmic artery and in central retinal artery of the same eye in a group with hypertension glaucoma (HTG). MATERIALS AND METHODS The file included 20 patients with HTG, thereof 13 women of average age 68.7 years (49-80 years) and 7 men of average age 58.4 years (27-81 years). Criteria for inclusion in the study: visual acuity 1,0 with possible correction less than ±3 diopters, approximately the same changes in visual fields in every patient, intraocular pressure (IOP) less than 18 mmHg, no other ocular or neurological diseases. VD was measured by Avanti RTVue XR by Optovue firm, perfusion parameters were measured using Doppler ultrasound with Affinity 70G machine by Philips firm. The peak systolic velocity (PSV) and end diastolic velocity (EDV) and resistance index (RI) were measured both in ophthalmic artery (AO) and in central retinal artery (CRA). Visual field (VF) was examined by quick threshold glaucoma program by Medmont M 700 machine. The sum of sensitivities in apostilbs (abs) was evaluated in the range 0-22 degrees of visual field. The results of sensitivities in visual field were compared to VD and perfusion parameters in CRA and AO of the same eye. RESULTS Pearsons correlation coefficient (p = 0,05) was used to assess the dependency between chosen parameters. By comparing VF and VD from measured areas, strong correlation (r = 0.64, resp. 0.65) was revealed. It was then proved that VD (WI-VDs) correlates with RICRA weakly (r = -0.35) and moderately strongly (WI-VDa r = -0.4, PP-VDs r = -0.43 and PP-VDa r = -0.45). This means that with increasing resistance index in CRA the density in VD decreases. The other correlations between VD and perfusion parameters (PSV and EDV) in CRA and AO were not significant. CONCLUSION Measured values showed that the vascular component of VD has a huge impact on the changes in visual fields in HTG. Weak to moderate influence exists between VD and RI in CRA. OCTA has proven to be more suitable than Doppler ultrasound for determining the condition of blood circulation in the eye.

Abstract
This study analyzed the optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) macular parameters in primary angle-closure glaucoma (PACG) patients after acute primary angle closure (APAC) episodes. Thirty-three patients with 33 APAC eyes and 33 primary angle closure suspect (PACS) eyes and 33 age-matched normal subjects (controls) were enrolled. Macular vessel density (VD) in central, inner, outer and full regions and foveal avascular zone (FAZ) parameters (area, perimeter and circularity index) were compared between APAC, PACS, and control eyes. For resolved APAC eyes, the VD in each macular region was significantly lower than that in control eyes, with less central and inner macular VD than PACS eyes. The central macular VD was significantly lower in PACS eyes than in controls. There was no difference in FAZ area and perimeter between APAC, PACS, and control eyes. FAZ circularity was highest in control eyes, followed by PACS eyes, and lowest in APAC eyes. The AUC, sensitivity and specificity of FAZ circularity were 0.944, 93.9% and 84.8%, respectively, in APAC eyes and 0.881, 84.8% and 81.8%, respectively, in PACS eyes. Therefore, FAZ circularity had the best discrimination capability for detecting both APAC and PACS eyes. Macular assessment with OCTA could provide an accurate early-stage diagnostic tool for PACG.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Hypertensive glaucoma (HTG) causes damage to the retinal ganglion cells and eventually to the entire visual pathway due to high intraocular pressure (IOP). However, increased IOP will also affect the vessel density (VD) of the posterior pole of the eye and the related retinal ganglion nerve fibres (RNFL). In normotensive glaucoma (NTG), the retinal ganglion cells are relatively intact. The pathology is at the level of ganglion fibres. The unanswered question is what has altered ganglion cell fibres at the level of the retina and optic nerve head in NTG? AIM The aim of this study was to determine whether there is a correlation between the retinal nerve fibre layer (RNFL) and vessel density (VD) at the same altitudinal half of the retina and the sum of sensitivities of the contralateral half of the visual field of the same eye in hypertensive and normotensive glaucoma (NTG). METHODS Our group included 20 patients with HTG and 20 patients with NTG. The Pearson's correlation coefficient r was used for evaluation of the relationship of the peripapillary RNFL and VD, visual field (using the fast threshold glaucoma program) as the sum of sensitivities in apostilbs (asb) to the extent of 0-22 degrees. The results of sensitivity were compared with the RNFL and VD of the contralateral altitudinal half of the retina in the same eye. RESULTS In the HTG group there was a moderate relationship between RNFL and VD (both hemifields), but no relationship between RNFL and VF. VD SH and VF IH showed weak correlation and VD IH and VF SH showed no correlation. In patients with NTG, we found a strong correlation between RNFL and VD (both hemifields), between VD SH and VF IH a moderate correlation, between VD IH and VF SH also a moderate correlation and a weak correlation between RNFL and VF. CONCLUSION By comparing the RNFL and VD at the same altitudinal halves of the retina, we found a moderate correlation in HTG and a strong correlation in NTG. We found no or a weak correlation between VD and VF in HTG. In NTG the relationship between VD and VF showed a strong correlation. These findings reveal the differences in the diagnostic groups.

Abstract
PURPOSE To evaluate vascular microcirculation changes of the optic nerve head (ONH) in the patients with asymmetric pseudoexfoliative glaucoma (XFG) using optical coherence tomography angiography (OCTA) and to compare vessel density (VD) results with healthy individuals. METHODS This prospective study enrolled 120 eyes in total. The eyes were divided into 3 groups: 40 glaucomatous and 40 non-glaucomatous fellow eyes without clinically pseudoexfoliation material (XFM) of patients with asymmetric XFG, and 40 healthy eyes as controls. The optic disc region was evaluated with OCTA (Optovue, Inc., Fremont, CA). VD was assessed as the ratio of the area formed by the vessels in 3 different regions: (1) inside disc; (2) in the peripapillary area defined as a 1-mm wide elliptical annulus around the disc; and (3) in the whole image defined as a 4-mm wide papillary region. RESULTS There were significant decreases in VD values of all regions in XFG eyes compared to fellow and control eyes (p < 0.05 for all comparisons). The mean VD values of peripapillary area and whole image were lower in the non-glaucomatous fellow eyes compared with control eyes (p = 0.011 and p = 0.015, respectively). The receiver operating characteristic analysis for differentiating fellow eyes from healthy eyes had highest area under the curve and sensitivity at 90% specificity for superior-hemi (0.811, 65.2%), followed by ppVD (0.775, 61.8%) and whole image (0.743, 55.9%). CONCLUSIONS OCTA as a novel imaging may be a valuable structural test in diagnosis and follow-up of glaucoma.
