Abstract
Introduction Robust connections have been identified between the pathophysiology of mental disorders and the functioning of the circadian system. The overarching objective of this study was to investigate the potential for circadian rhythms to be leveraged for therapeutics in mental disorders. Methods We considered two approaches to chronotherapy-optimal timing of existing medications ("clocking the drugs") and redressing circadian abnormalities with small molecules ("drugging the clock"). We assessed whether circadian rhythm-modulating compounds can interact with the prominent drug targets of mental disorders utilizing computational tools like molecular docking and molecular dynamics simulation analysis. Results Firstly, an analysis of transcript-level rhythmic patterns in recognized drug targets for mental disorders found that 24-hour rhythmic patterns were measurable in 54.4% of targets in mice and 35.2% in humans. We also identified several drug receptors exhibiting 24-hour rhythmicity involved in critical physiological pathways for neural signaling and communication, such as neuroactive ligand-receptor interaction, calcium signaling pathway, cAMP signaling pathway, and dopaminergic and cholinergic synapses. These findings advocate that further research into the timing of drug administration in mental disorders is urgently required. We observed that many pharmacological modulators of mammalian circadian rhythms, including KL001, SR8278, SR9009, Nobiletin, and MLN4924, exhibit stable binding with psychotropic drug targets. Discussion These findings suggest that circadian clock-modulating pharmacologically active small molecules could be investigated further for repurposing in the treatment of mood disorders. In summary, the present analyses indicate the potential of chronotherapeutic approaches to mental disorder pharmacotherapy and specify the need for future circadian rhythm-oriented clinical research.

Abstract
Purpose The co-morbidity of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in patients with bipolar disorder (BD) has a negative impact on patient treatment and prognosis. This study aimed to identify the prevalence of NAFLD in patients with BD and investigate the risk factors of NAFLD. Patients and Methods A total of 678 patients with BD were included in the study. Clinical data were obtained from the hospital's electronic health record system. Data included fasting blood glucose, alanine aminotransferase, triglycerides, aspartate aminotransferase, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL), alkaline phosphatase, total cholesterol, glutamine transpeptidase, uric acid, apolipoprotein A1, apolipoprotein B, and liver ultrasound findings. Results The prevalence of NAFLD was 43.66% in patients with BD. Significant differences in body mass index (BMI), mean age, diabetes prevalence, course of BD, fasting blood glucose, alanine aminotransferase, HDL, alkaline phosphatase, triglycerides, aspartate aminotransferase, uric acid, glutamine transpeptidase, apolipoprotein B, total cholesterol, and apolipoprotein A1 were seen between the groups (all P<0.01). Male sex, age, BMI, course of BD, alanine aminotransferase, fasting blood glucose, aspartate aminotransferase, diabetes, glutamine transpeptidase, total cholesterol, alkaline phosphatase, triglycerides, uric acid, apolipoprotein B, HDL, and apolipoprotein A1 levels were correlated with NAFLD (all P<0.05). In patients with BD, diabetes (OR=6.412, 95% CI=1.049-39.21), BMI (OR=1.398, 95% CI=1.306-1.497), triglycerides (OR=1.456, 95% CI=1.036-2.045), and apolipoprotein A1 (OR=0.272, 95% CI=0.110-0.672) were risk factors for NAFLD (all P<0.05). Conclusion Risk factors for NAFLD in patients with BD include diabetes, BMI, course of BD, and a low level of apolipoprotein A1. A proactive approach to disease management, such as appropriate physical activity and adoption of a healthy diet, and regular monitoring of changes in patient markers should be adopted to reduce the prevalence of NAFLD.

Abstract
Purpose: Fermented camel milk from Xinjiang is rich in probiotics and has immunomodulatory effects as an important source of bioactive peptides. However, it is not clear whether it is the probiotic or the bioactive peptide that acts. The present study aimed to extract and identify bioactive peptides from fermented camel milk in Xinjiang and investigate their immunomodulatory effects and mechanisms based on network pharmacology and molecular docking. Methods: Four probiotic bacteria were used to ferment the fresh camel milk and the bioactive peptides were extracted and isolated by ultrafiltration and column chromatography. Network pharmacology predicts targets and pathways of action. GeneCards and OMIM-GENE-MAP database were used in order to search disease target genes and screen common target genes. Then we used STRING web to construct a protein-protein interaction (PPI) interaction network of the common target protein. The key targets were analyzed by GO (Gene Ontology) and KEGG (Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes) analysis through the David database. The "drug (bioactive peptide)-disease-targets-pathway" network was established and molecular docking was used for prediction. Results: Two fractions were obtained by UV spectrophotometer; whey acidic protein, α-lactalbumin, and peptidoglycan recognition protein 1 were the main protein-like components of Xinjiang fermented camel milk-derived bioactive peptides. The repeat sequence of peptidoglycan recognition protein 1 was selected and then seven bioactive peptides were obtained. Bioactive peptides had 222 gene targets, anti-inflammatory diseases had 2598 gene targets, and immune regulation had 866 gene targets, the intersection of which was 66 in common gene targets. Gene ontology and KEGG analysis reveals that bioactive peptides mainly play a vital role in the signaling pathways of lipid and atherosclerosis, pathways in cancer. The molecular docking results showed that the seven bioactive peptides bound well to the top four scoring proteins. Conclusion: The immunomodulatory and anti-inflammatory effects and mechanisms of Xinjiang fermented camel milk-derived bioactive peptides were initially investigated by network pharmacology and molecular docking, providing a scientific basis for future studies.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Comorbidity of bipolar disorder (BD) and alcohol use disorder (AUD) is very frequent resulting in detrimental outcomes, including increased mortality. Diagnosis of AUD in BD and vice versa is often delayed as symptoms of one disorder mimic and obscure the other one. Evidence for pharmacotherapies for people with comorbid BD and AUD remains limited, and further proof-of-concept studies are urgently needed. AREAS COVERED This paper explores the currently available pharmacotherapies for AUD, BD and their usefulness for comorbid BD and AUD. It also covers to some degree the epidemiology, diagnosis, and potential common neurobiological traits of comorbid BD and AUD. EXPERT OPINION The authors conclude that more controlled studies are needed before evidence-based guidance can be drawn up for clinician's use. Since there are no relevant pharmacological interactions, approved medications for AUD can also be used safely in BD. For mood stabilization, lithium should be considered first in adherent persons with BD and comorbid AUD. Alternatives include valproate, lamotrigine, and some atypical antipsychotics, with partial D2/D3 receptor agonism possibly being beneficial in AUD, too.

Abstract
Epidemiological studies have demonstrated an association between bipolar disorder (BP) and endocrine diseases. Further, circadian rhythm disruptions may be a potential common pathophysiological mechanism of both disorders. This review provides a brief overview of the molecular mechanisms of circadian rhythms, as well as roles circadian rhythms play in BP and common endocrine comorbidities such as diabetes and thyroid disease. Treatments targeting the circadian system, both pharmacological and non-pharmacological, are also discussed. The hope is to elicit new interest to the importance of circadian system in BP and offer new entry points and impetus to the development of medicine.
