Abstract
INTRODUCTION Pre-hospital ambulance service is the most important part of healthcare service. Client satisfaction with the service indicates the degree of adaptation to the appropriate quality and quantity of services. Patients' dissatisfaction with the service can affect their expectations of the overall services that they will receive later in the definitive care facility. However, it is not a well-addressed area in developing countries, including Ethiopia. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to identify the ambulance service satisfaction level and associated factors among service users in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. METHODS A cross-sectional study was conducted in five governmental hospitals in Addis Ababa city. A face-to-face exit interview technique was employed on a total of 410 consecutively selected participants using a pretested tool developed from similar sources. The cleaned data was entered into the Epi-Data Manager 4.6 version and then exported to SPSS version 26 for analysis. The dependent variable was dichotomized into satisfied and unsatisfied to compute bivariate logistic regression. In the multivariate logistic regression model, predictors with a p-value < 0.05 at the 95% CI were considered to have a significant association. RESULT A total of 410 respondents were included in the study. The mean of participants' responses regarding ambulance personnel, call operator, treatment on the scene, and ambulance subscale was 3.64, 3.48, 3.40, and 3.43, respectively. The study found that only 21.5% of participants were satisfied by the ambulance service they received. There was a statistically significant association between ambulance service satisfaction and age (AOR = 3.52, 95% CI: 1.01-12.36), monthly income (AOR = 3.13, 95% CI: 1.41-6.94), ambulance response time (AOR = 10.33, 95% CI: 2.09-51.06), type of ambulance used (AOR = 4.55, 95% CI: 2.19-9.43), and previous ambulance usage (AOR = 2.33, 95% CI: 1.34-4.05). CONCLUSION The study found a low level of satisfaction among ambulance users. The findings suggest that ambulance personnel performance is a key determinant of user satisfaction, while treatment at the scene and in the ambulances, and call operator areas require improvement. Age, monthly income, ambulance response time, type of ambulance, and previous ambulance use also influenced satisfaction. Improving the quality of services, reducing response time, and ensuring call operators are trained are vital steps to enhance satisfaction.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patients' health outcomes can suffer as a result of poor knowledge and unfavorable attitude towards prehospital emergency care. The purpose of this study was to assess emergency health care providers' (EHCPs') knowledge, attitude, and associated factors towards prehospital care in selected prehospital Emergency Medical Service institutions in Addis Abeba, Ethiopia. METHODS An institutional-based cross-sectional study design was conducted among EHCPs working in the three selected prehospital emergency medical care centers in Addis Ababa. Data were collected using a standard self-administered questionnaire, cleaned, coded, and entered into EPI Data Version 6, and then exported to SPSS Version 26 for further analysis. The generated data were compiled using frequency tables, charts, and percentages. Logistic regression analysis was used to see the association between independent and dependent variables. RESULTS One hundred thirty-five (135) study participants were included in this study, with a response rate of 95.7%. The mean age of the respondents was 29.2 years (SD = 4.86). Almost three-quarters of the respondents (71.1%) were aged between 26 and 35 years. Of the total participants, 58.5% and 62.2% of EHCPs had good knowledge and a favorable attitude towards prehospital care, respectively. The study revealed that profession (AOR = 3.2; 95% CI, 1.03 - 7.65), educational status (AOR = 1.17; 95% CI, 1.08 - 4.93), and having training (AOR = 2.25; 95% CI, 1.33 - 4.52) were significantly associated with the knowledge of EHCPs. This finding also revealed that the respondent's knowledge (AOR = 1.36; 95% CI, 1.05 - 2.32) and having training (AOR = 3.2; 95% CI, 1.24 - 7.83) were significantly associated with EHCPs' attitudes towards prehospital care. CONCLUSIONS The knowledge and attitude of EHCPs regarding prehospital care were found to be good and favorable as compared to previous studies. In-service training regarding emergency health conditions and the time needed to care for the patient is important for quality prehospital emergency medical care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient satisfaction is an important indicator of quality of care, but its measurement remains challenging. The Consumer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale (CECSS) was developed to measure patient satisfaction in the emergency department (ED). Although this is a valid and reliable tool, several aspects of the CECSS need to be improved, including the definition, dimension, and scoring of scales. PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to examine the construct validity of the CECSS and make suggestions on how to improve the tool to measure overall satisfaction with ED care. METHODS We administered 2 surveys to older adults who presented with a fall to the ED and used electronic health record data to examine construct validity of the CECSS and ceiling effects. RESULTS Using several criteria, we improved construct validity of the CECSS, reduced ceiling effects, and standardized scoring. CONCLUSION We addressed several methodological issues with the CECSS and provided recommendations for improvement.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The outcomes of hip fracture rely heavily on subjective pain relief, and social media provides a remarkable lens to examine the patient experience. METHODS A search of public posts on Instagram and Twitter was performed over a 2 -year period, selected through use of the following hashtags: #hipfracture, #hipfracturerecovery, and #hipfracturerepair. A categorical classification system was used for media format (picture or video), perspective, timing, tone, and content. Post-popularity (number of likes) and geographic location were also recorded. RESULTS Of the Instagram posts analyzed, 50.6% were made by patients. The most common content included in Instagram posts was rehabilitation and or educational posts on hip fracture. Amongst the Twitter posts analyzed, 66% of posts were made by professional organizations. Frequently referenced themes included education, and posts produced by the hospital or surgeon. Of Facebook posts analyzed, 62.8% of posts were produced by businesses. CONCLUSION Social media analysis is a powerful tool for evaluating characteristics important to patients. Instagram was used more by patients and focused on rehabilitation. Twitter posts were more frequently made by professional organizations and tended to be educational. Lastly, Facebook posts were made primarily by businesses and focused on marketing.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Patient experience is receiving increasing attention in the context of patient-centered care. However, there are relatively few instruments that measure patient experience that are valid and reliable. OBJECTIVE In this study, we systematically review the literature on the Consumer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale (CECSS) and examine its psychometric properties. METHODS We conducted a systematic literature search in the Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, PubMed, PsycINFO, and Web of Science databases on articles that contain information on the CECSS. The review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA) guidelines. RESULTS Our systematic literature search resulted in 28 articles in which the CECSS was used. CONCLUSIONS Results of our literature review show that from a psychometric perspective, the CECSS is a valid and reliable instrument. However, the results of our study also show that the CECSS has several weaknesses. We have made recommendations to improve the CECSS.

Abstract
Background The ambulance service is facing an increased number of calls and ambulance assignments. Between 12 and 42% of all assignments result in non-conveyance to the Accident and Emergency Department. However, there is limited knowledge regarding satisfaction among patients and significant others when patients are assessed as non-urgent and discharged at the scene. Therefore, the aim of the study was to explore and compare satisfaction with the ambulance service among patients and significant others when the patient was discharged at the scene. Methods The present study was designed as a cross-sectional exploratory survey with a consecutive sample employing the Consumer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale questionnaire on patients and significant others. Results A total of 162 questionnaires were analysed, 87 patients and 75 significant others. Overall, satisfaction was high with no significant difference between patients and significant others, although 17-19% were dissatisfied with the discharge information. Conclusions Generally, patients and significant others are satisfied with the care provided by the Ambulance Service when discharged at the scene and thus not conveyed the Accident and Emergency Department. The participants were especially satisfied with Specialist Ambulance Nurses’ interpersonal skills, e.g., making time and providing thorough information. Guidelines for assignments involving non-conveyance, as well as information, instructions and what to expect when discharged at the scene can be improved.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pediatric healthcare today shows a rising demand for research focusing on children's perspectives on and consumer satisfaction with the nursing care they receive. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to translate and adapt the Consumer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale (CECSS), a paper-based, self-administered 19-item questionnaire originally developed in the United States and targeted towards adults, and then test the new version in Swedish pediatric emergency departments. METHODS The study was designed with a two-phase approach. Firstly, a forward-backward translation of the CECSS, involving expert consensus, was performed, and then the questionnaire was adapted for children aged 10-18 and assessed for face and content validity. Secondly, the translated and adapted questionnaire was tested with a clinical sample for construct validity, internal consistency, and reliability. This last aspect was assessed using a structured telephone interview 7-10 days after the participant visited a pediatric emergency department. All children participating in this study gave their assent (< 15 years) or consent (≥ 15 years), and their guardian's written informed consent was also obtained. RESULTS The paper-based, self-administered 19-item Swedish version of the CECSS was tested on a clinical sample consisting of 203 nonurgent children (boys: n = 109, 53.7 % and girls: n = 94, 46.3 %) between 10 and 18 years (mean age 13.8, SD 2.29). The factor analysis revealed three factors that explain 63.1 % of the total variation in the 15 items. The Cronbach's alphas for the three dimensions (caring, teaching, and clinical competence) varied between 0.79 and 0.88. The intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) for the entire Swedish version of the CECSS was 0.58, and the ICCs for the three dimensions varied between 0.56 and 0.71. CONCLUSIONS The results show that the developed Swedish Pediatric Consumer Emergency Care Satisfaction Scale (p-CECSS-S) is a valid, stable and easy-to-use-questionnaire that can be used to assess children's satisfaction with nursing care.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Older persons with a suspected hip fracture and suffering considerable pain are common patients in the emergency medical services (EMS). Pain treatment needs to be improved and fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) can be one option. The purpose of this paper was to analyse prehospital pain in patients with a suspected hip fracture under EMS care and to compare standard treatment and FICB. METHODS An evaluation of a retrospective case-control study comprising 135 patients from a pilot project with FICB in an EMS organisation in Sweden. The control patients were matched with FICB patients. Pain was assessed on the arrival of the EMS and on arrival in hospital. RESULTS In all, 27 patients received FICB and 108 had standard pain treatment. There was a significant reduction in pain in both groups. However, there was a more marked reduction in pain among patients who received FICB than in the control group. So, for static pain, 56% experienced a reduction in pain in the FICB group versus 30% among controls (p < 0.01). The corresponding values for dynamic pain were 85% and 59% (p < 0.01). CONCLUSION FICB can be a good supplement to standard prehospital pain treatment in patients with suspected hip fractures.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pre-hospital emergency care is a medical care given to patients before arrival in the hospital after activation of the emergency team. Poor knowledge and practice about pre-hospital emergency care hurt the health outcomes of the patients. OBJECTIVE This study aimed to assess knowledge and practice nurses at the University of Gondar Compressive Specialized Hospital, Northwest Ethiopia. METHODS An institutional-based cross-sectional study was conducted from March 20 to April 10, 2020. A stratified sampling technique was used to select the study participants. Data were collected using a pretested structured self-administered questionnaire. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20. To explain study variables, frequency tables and percentages were used. Logistic regression analysis was used to see the association between independent and dependent variables. RESULTS Out of the total 378 respondents, less than half (42.9%) had good knowledge; similarly, 49.5% of them had good practice about pre-hospital emergency care. Male sex and attend formal training were significant associations with both knowledge and practice of pre-hospital emergency nursing care. Male participants (adjusted odds ratio (AOR) = 6.57, 95% confidence interval (CI) (3.79-11.36)) and having training (AOR=1.74, 95% CI (1.83-3.66)) were significantly associated with knowledge of pre-hospital emergency care, whereas male sex (AOR=1.73, 95% CI (1.09-2.73)) and having training (AOR=6.16, 95% CI (2.69-14.10)) were significantly associated with the practice of pre-hospital emergency care. CONCLUSION Knowledge and practice of nurses regarding pre-hospital emergency care was found to be inadequate as compared to previous studies. Male sex and attend formal training showed a positive and significant association with both knowledge and practice of pre-hospital emergency nursing care. The responsible body ought to allow professional development and attending formal training for nurses.
