Abstract
AIM Adolescents face many challenges when entering university. The aim of this study was determined predictor role of coping with identity threat and health literacy on the quality of life and mental health of students. METHODS This is a descriptive-analytical study of the structural equation study. Random sampling was performed on 300 students of Alborz University of medical science who were eligible to enter the study. The link of the questionnaires was provided to the students through social networks. The questionnaires were used to study identity threat, mental health, health literacy, and quality of life. RESULTS The results of structural equations showed that health literacy has a negative and significant effect (β = -0.22) and identity threat strategy has a negative and significant effect on students' mental health disorder (β = -0.53). Mental health disorders have a negative and significant effect on the quality of life in students (β = -0.49), and health literacy has a positive and significant effect on the quality of life (β = 0.35). Based on Sobel criterion, mental health disorder was a partial mediator for the indirect effect of coping threat strategy on quality of life. CONCLUSIONS Considering the effect of mental health and health literacy on the quality of life and the effectiveness of coping strategies, it is recommended to evaluate the mental health and health literacy of students in universities and provide educational programs for identity coping in the early years after entering the university.

Abstract
Background: Cancer disease is considered one of the basic health problems in the world, which threatens the health of human life. It causes numerous personal, family and social damages in physical, psychological, and social dimensions. Objectives: The present study aimed at investigating health literacy and cognitive dysfunction on the quality of life of cancer survivors to make better decisions for the daily functioning, quality of life, and work capacity of cancer survivors so that their lives can be spent with more peace and less stress. Methods: With a descriptive correlational design, 350 cancer survivors of the Cancer Research Center of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences (Shohaday Tajrish Hospital) from September to November 2021, who had been treated for at least one year, volunteered online and in person. Cognitive failure (Broadbent et al., 1982), cancer health literacy test (Dumenci et al., 2014), and quality of life of adults surviving cancer (Avis et al, 2005). Results: Pearson correlation showed a negative relationship between cognitive dysfunction and quality of life; so, path analysis showed that 25% of the quality of life is explained by cognitive dysfunction, but cancer health literacy was not correlated with the quality of life of cancer survivors. Conclusions: According to the findings, the optimization of cognitive functions after treatment was emphasized to increase the quality of life of cancer survivors.

Abstract
Summary
The objective of this study was to evaluate the criterion validity of the 14-item Health Literacy Scale (HLS-14) in Brazilian adults and older adults. The cross-sectional study performed in an oral health (OH) prospective cohort was conducted in 2017 in Piracicaba, Brazil. The HLS-14 questionnaire was applied to evaluate Health Literacy (HL) by dimensions: Functional literacy (FunL), Communicative literacy (ComL) and Critical literacy (CriL). An evaluation protocol (EP) was proposed to evaluate the criterion validity of HLS-14 considering HL dimensions (FunL: reading of the drug information leaflets; ComL: reading of the medical prescription and CriL: identification of OH conditions). HL (total) was dichotomized by the median in high (≥35 point) or low (<35 point) HL. Kendall’s rank correlation coefficient (p < 0.05) and chi-squared test (p < 0.05) were applied. There was agreement between EP and HLS-14 for FunL (p < 0.01). There was association between high HL, measured through the HLS-14 questionnaire, assessing the reading of the drug information leaflets (p < 0.01) and the need for help to read them (p < 0.01). EP showed association between high HL and being able to read the drug information leaflet (p < 0.01), not needing help to read (p < 0.01), having found in the prescription all the information to take the medicine (p < 0.01) and knowing two or more health and OH information in the educational material (p < 0.01). The HSL-14 questionnaire showed criterion validity to measure FunL, and for some items of ComL and CriL evaluation. HL evaluation in a practical and multidimensional way could have an effect on the communication between health professional and patient, motivation and health outcomes.

The Effectiveness and Value of Written Medicine Information Across Asia and Africa: Systematic Review. Drug Saf 2021; 44:1283-1295. Abstract
Reviews on the role, value, effectiveness and desirable content of written medicine information (WMI) mostly include studies from high-income countries. We reviewed studies from Africa and Asia published between January 2004 and December 2019 to determine (1) the effect of WMI on knowledge and behaviour and (2) whether patients value WMI and their preferences for WMI. We included 16 intervention studies involving almost 3500 participants and 27 surveys of patients/public totalling over 11,000 people. Both the quality of the intervention studies and the reporting quality varied. Surveys were mostly localised, many with inadequate sampling strategies, and hence, were poorly representative of wider populations. However, most included a high proportion of participants with low educational levels. Most of the intervention studies reported significant improvements in knowledge and/or adherence after provision of WMI. Many utilised specially developed WMI in local languages, enhanced by pictograms. Provision of verbal information in addition to WMI showed variable impact. The proportion of people who read WMI, used as an indicator of its value, was reported in 15 surveys, with an overall figure of 74%. The most desirable aspects of WMI reported in 12 studies were indication, side effects, dose/instructions for use, contraindications, precautions and interactions. Nine studies reported local language was desirable. The studies suggest that WMI can improve both knowledge and adherence and is highly valued by people in many countries across Africa and Asia. Mechanisms should be considered by regulatory authorities and manufacturers to facilitate the provision of leaflets in local languages using simple terminology, perhaps enhanced by pictograms.This study is registered with PROSPERO, registration number: CRD42019127001.

Abstract
Literacy is an important predictor of health care utilization and outcomes. We examine literacy among people seeking care in a state funded mental health clinic (Site 1) and a safety-net hospital clinic (Site 2). Limited literacy was defined as literacy at or below the 8th grade level. At Site 1, 53% of participants had limited reading literacy and 78% had limited aural literacy. At Site 2, 72% had limited reading and 90% had limited aural literacy. Regression analyses examined associations among limited literacy and psychiatric, neurocognitive and sociodemographic characteristics. Few associations among psychiatric and neurocognitive factors, and literacy were found. At Site 2, black and "other" race participants had higher odds for limited literacy compared to white participants suggesting that limited literacy may be an under-examined mechanism in understanding racial disparities in mental health. Work is needed to understand the relationships among literacy, mental health and mental health care.

Abstract
Published reviews of written medicine information (WMI) have mainly drawn on studies published in high-income countries, including very few Asian or African studies. We therefore set out to scope the research literature to determine the extent and type of studies concerning WMI for patients/consumers across these two continents. We sought empirical studies published between January 2004 and December 2019, conducted in any Asian or African country, as defined by the United Nations, in English or with an English abstract. The majority of the 923 papers identified were from high-income countries. We retained 26 papers from Africa and 99 from Asia. Most African studies (n = 20) involved patients in the development of PILs, in the assessment of the effectiveness of PILs or in surveys. In contrast, the highest proportion of Asian studies concerned the content of WMI (n = 42). WMI is desired, but needs to be in local languages, and there needs to be more use made of pre-tested pictograms. Existing WMI frequently does not meet local regulatory requirements, particularly locally manufactured products. A number of studies reported potentially positive impacts of providing WMI on knowledge and medicine use behaviours. Provision of medicine information is essential for safe use of medicines in all countries. Internationally agreed guidelines, incorporating good design principles, are needed to ensure the optimal content and design of WMI. The World Health Organization should support African and Asian regulatory bodies to share best practice in relation to WMI for patients/consumers and to develop and implement pan-continental guidelines that take into account consumer needs and preferences.

Abstract
Optimizing wellness and health are the most critical goals for patients post solid-organ transplantation. Low health literacy has important implications for wellness and health, increasing patient risk for negative health outcomes. More than 30% of the general US patient population has low health literacy, and solid-organ transplant recipients (SOTRs) may be especially vulnerable to low health literacy and its adverse impact on health outcomes. A comprehensive literature review was conducted and a model was adapted to better depict factors associated with low health literacy. Based on the Paasche-Orlow and Wolf model of health literacy, the Health Literacy Model in Transplantation (HeaL-T) provides a foundation to visually demonstrate the relationships among variables associated with low health literacy and to develop evidence-based strategies to improve care. The model depicts a number of patient and healthcare level factors associated with health literacy, several of which have bi-directional or reciprocal relationships, including access and utilization of healthcare, provider-patient interaction, and self-management/adherence. The impact of these factors and their relationships to SOTR outcomes are reviewed. The HeaL-T represents an important step in developing holistic understanding of the complexity of health literacy in SOTRs and offers clinicians a base from which to design strategies to mitigate adverse health effects including increased hospitalizations, graft failure, and mortality.

Abstract
Background Low health literacy often has an association with poor health outcomes such as low levels of self-efficacy, increased mortality, poor health status and reduced quality of life (QOL). The aim of the study was to quantitatively evaluate the relationship between health literacy (HL) and QOL based on a systematic review and meta-analysis. Methods EMBASE, PubMed, Web of Science, Elsevier, Cochrane Library, and Chinese electronic databases such as CNKI, and Wanfang were searched from 1970 until February 1, 2018. The pooled correlation coefficient (PCOR) and its 95% confidence interval (CI) between HL and QOL were estimated using R software. Potential sources of heterogeneity were explored using subgroup analysis, sensitivity analysis, and meta-regression. Results Twenty-three studies, with a total of 12,303 subjects,were included. The PCOR between HL and QOL was 0.35 (95%CI: 0.25–0.44). Considering different dimensions of HL, the PCOR between QOL and health knowledge, health behavior, health belief, and health skill were 0.36 (95% CI: 0.04–0.61), 0.36 (95%CI: 0.13–0.55), 0.39 (95%CI: 0.10–0.62), and 0.42 (95%CI: 0.03–0.69), respectively. The PCOR between HL and the two dimensions of QOL was lower than the total PCOR between HL and QOL. In subgroup analysis, the PCOR between HL and QOL was 0.46 (95%CI: 0.13, 0.69) among community residents, 0.45 (95%CI: 0.27, 0.61) in China, and 0.45 (95%CI: 0.24, 0.62) based on cohort studies. Sensitivity analyses showed that the stability of results had no significant after excluding the study (p < 0.001). Meta-regression showed that cohort study design, studies conducted in China, and publication before 2012 may be important influencing factors. Conclusions Health literacy was moderately correlated with quality of life, but this finding needs to be supported by more evidence.
