Abstract
OBJECTIVE To analyze differences in the menstrual pattern, age at menarche, and body mass index (BMI) in adolescents with Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Ovarian (HPO) axis immaturity and Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) through a systematic review and meta-analysis. METHODS The PubMed, EMBASE, Web of Science, Virtual Health Library, Scopus databases were searched using combinations of descriptors. Study quality was assessed using the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. For data analysis, the results were grouped into PCOS group and NPCOS group (HPO axis immaturity). We performed a meta-analysis of raw data and the inverse variance method, employing the standardized mean difference, of the age at menarche and BMI of adolescents. RESULTS Participants totaled 1,718 from nine selected studies. The meta-analysis showed that the PCOS group had a higher BMI than the NPCOS group (SMD 0.334; CI95% 0.073 - 0.595; p = .012). The degree of heterogeneity of the studies was approximately 40%. No significant difference in age at menarche (SMD - 0.027; CI95% -0.227 - 0.172; p = 0.790) and menstrual patterns was found, but amenorrhea was described only in adolescents with PCOS. CONCLUSIONS The main characteristic in menstrual pattern that differentiated PCOS patients from girls with HPO axis immaturity was amenorrhea. Also, the BMI of PCOS patients was nearly one third higher than that of adolescents with HPO axis immaturity.

Abstract
BACKGROUND This study aimed to explore the impact of Diacerein (DIC) on endocrine and cardio-metabolic changes in polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) mouse model. METHODS A total of 18 adult female mice (Parkes strain), aged 4-5 weeks, were randomly assigned to three groups, each comprising 6 animals, as follows: Group I (control), received normal diet and normal saline as vehicle for 51 days; Group II received Letrozole (LET; 6 mg/kg bw) for 21 days to induce PCOS; Group III received LET, followed by daily oral gavage administration of DIC (35 mg/kg bw) for 30 days. RESULTS This study indicates that treatment with LET resulted in PCOS with characteristics such as polycystic ovaries, elevated testosterone, weight gain, visceral adiposity, high levels of insulin as well as fasting blood glucose in addition to insulin resistance, improper handling of ovarian lipids, atherogenic dyslipidemia, impaired Na + /K + -ATPase activity and serum, cardiac, and ovarian oxidative stress. Serum/ovarian adiponectin levels were lowered in LET-treated mice. In mice treated with LET, we also discovered a reduction in cardiac and serum paraoxonase 1 (PON1). Interestingly, DIC restored ovarian andcardio-metabolic abnormalities in LET-induced PCOS mice. DIC prevented the endocrine and cardio-metabolic changes brought on by letrozole-induced PCOS in mice. CONCLUSION The ameliorative effects of DIC on letrozole-induced PCOS with concurrent oxidative stress, abdominal fat deposition, cardiac and ovarian substrate mishandling, glucometabolic dysfunction, and adiponectin/PON1 activation support the idea that DIC perhaps, restore compromised endocrine and cardio-metabolic regulators in PCOS.

Abstract
Background: Oncostatin M, a novel adipokine, plays a role in oogenesis, lipogenesis, and inflammation and may contribute to polycystic ovary syndrome pathogenesis and related metabolic problems. Adipokines are believed to contribute to developing polycystic ovary syndrome and its accompanying metabolic parameters, such as dyslipidemia, insulin resistance, and cardiovascular diseases. Methods: In this case-control study, the patients were grouped in a 1:1 ratio into either the polycystic ovary syndrome (n = 32) or the control group (n = 32). Serum levels of fasting glucose, insulin, C-reactive protein, low-density lipoprotein cholesterol, high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, triglyceride, white blood cell count, thyroid-stimulating hormone, luteinizing hormone, follicle-stimulating hormone, total testosterone, prolactin, estradiol, homeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance, and oncostatin M were analyzed. Results: Oncostatin M levels were significantly lower, but C-reactive protein levels were substantially higher in the polycystic ovary syndrome group than in the control group (p = 0.002, p = 0.001, respectively). Oncostatin M was inversely correlated with total cholesterol, non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol, fasting glucose, and the luteinizing hormone/follicle-stimulating hormone ratio (ρ = -0.329, p =0.017; ρ = -0.386, p = 0.005; ρ = -0.440, p = 0.001; ρ = -0.316, p = 0.023, respectively). Conversely, there was no correlation between oncostatin M and total testosterone level (ρ = 0.220; p = 0.118). In the context of inflammation and metabolic parameters, oncostatin M was inversely correlated with C-reactive protein, homeostatic model assessment for insulin resistance score, and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (ρ = -0.353, p = 0.019; ρ = -0.275, p = 0.048; ρ = -0.470, p < 0.001, respectively). Conclusions: Plasma oncostatin M levels were considerably lower in patients with polycystic ovary syndrome than in the control group, and this was inversely correlated with the hormonal and metabolic parameters of polycystic ovary syndrome. Thus, oncostatin M may be a novel therapeutic target for polycystic ovary syndrome and its metabolic parameters.

Abstract
Across the globe, metabolic syndrome, hyperuric acid, and their related diseases, such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and insulin resistance, are increasing in incidence due to metabolic imbalances. Due to the pathogenesis, women are more prone to these diseases than men. As estrogen levels decrease after menopause, obesity and metabolic disorders are more likely to occur. Men are also affected by hyperuric acid. To provide ideas for the prevention and treatment of metabolic syndrome and hyperuricemia, this article reviews and analyzes the relationship between estrogen receptors, metabolic syndrome, and hyperuricemia.

Abstract
In the past two decades, oxidative stress (OS) has drawn a lot of interest due to the revelation that individuals with many persistent disorders including diabetes, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), cardiovascular, and other disorders often have aberrant oxidation statuses. OS has a close interplay with PCOS features such as insulin resistance, hyperandrogenism, and chronic inflammation; there is a belief that OS might contribute to the development of PCOS. PCOS is currently recognized as not only one of the most prevalent endocrine disorders but also a significant contributor to female infertility, affecting a considerable proportion of women globally. Therefore, the understanding of the relationship between OS and PCOS is crucial to the development of therapeutic and preventive strategies for PCOS. Moreover, the mechanistic study of intracellular reactive oxygen species/ reactive nitrogen species formation and its possible interaction with women's reproductive health is required, which includes complex enzymatic and non-enzymatic antioxidant systems. Apart from that, our current review includes possible regulation of the pathogenesis of OS. A change in lifestyle, including physical activity, various supplements that boost antioxidant levels, particularly vitamins, and the usage of medicinal herbs, is thought to be the best way to combat this occurrence of OS and improve the pathophysiologic conditions associated with PCOS.

Abstract
In this unselected population of women referred to a center specialized in gynecologic endocrinology for suspicion of PCOS, a minimum rate of misdiagnosed FHA patients of about 2% was found. It is necessary to evaluate reliable markers for the differential diagnosis between PCOS and FHA to avoid incorrect treatment, which might lead to negative long-term effects in women with undiagnosed FHA.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Research on the prevalence of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) among polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) patients has gained significant momentum over the years. However, it remains unclear whether PCOS is related to a higher prevalence of IBS. The objective of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to fully study IBS correlation with PCOS. METHODS From inception until October 16th, 2022, all observational studies documenting IBS prevalence in PCOS patients were collected from the China national knowledge infrastructure(CNKI), China Science and Technology Journal Database(VIP), Wanfang database, PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, and Cochrane databases. The quality of case-control studies was assessed with Newcastle-Ottawa Scale. Review Manager 5.3 was used to determine the pooled odds ratio (OR) and 95% confidence interval (CI). RESULTS 5 case-control studies involving 1268 individuals and one cross-sectional study involving 291 participants were included in our qualitative analysis. The quantitative analysis was conducted based on five case-control studies. Four case-control studies involving 1063 participants showed a higher prevalence of IBS in PCOS This meta-analysis revealed an almost twice higher risk of IBS in comparison with controls (OR = 2.23, 95%CI:1.58-3.14, p < 0.001; I2=41%, p = 0.150). Four sensitivity analyses validated the consistency of the aggregated findings. CONCLUSION This meta-analysis and systematic review demonstrated a significant association between PCOS and increased odds of IBS. However, more high-quality and well-controlled research is essential to increase the robustness of our conclusions.

Abstract
Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) is a common reproductive metabolic disorder, normally accompanied by insulin resistance (IR). The specific pathogenesis of this disease remains unclear. To identify the underlying pathogenesis of PCOS with IR and explore the potential efficacy and mechanism of Jiawei Huanglian-Wendan decoction (JHWD) by a network pharmacology approach. The effective components and the potential drug and disease-related targets are retrieved. Drug-disease overlapped targets are being obtained by Venny analysis. The construction of protein-protein interaction network relied on Search Tool for the Retrieval of Interacting Genes/Proteins database (STRING), after uploading drug-disease overlapped targets. The drug-component-target-disease interaction network map was displayed , after importing their data into Cytoscape 3.7.2 software. Bioinformatics analyses are being performed by Metascape and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes databases, respectively. Further, molecular docking analysis was carried out using AutoDock software. Finally, the influence of JHWD is verified by means of traditional Chinese medicine syndrome score, the rate of resumption of normal menstrual cycles and regular ovulation, the blood lipid levels, the blood glucose and insulin levels, and the inflammatory cytokines in PCOS with IR patients. Four primary interaction networks of JHWD are constructed. The enrichment analysis of PCOS-IR-related targets demonstrated that the top enriched pathways in the development of PCOS with IR are pathways in cancer, metabolic, phosphoinositide-3-kinase-protein kinase B signaling, lipid and atherosclerosis, and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling pathways. Molecular docking analysis revealed strong binding interactions of the key targets with the active components. Further confirmations showed that the active components of JHWD exhibited significant clinical efficacy in improving the clinical syndromes, menstrual cyclicity and ovulatory function, and significantly reducing the blood lipid levels, blood glucose and insulin levels, and inflammatory cytokines in PCOS with IR patients. The combination of the network pharmacological analysis and clinical validation stated that the active compounds in JHWD could regulate glycolipid metabolism, reduce IR, and exert anti-inflammatory effects in the treatment of PCOS with IR, promoting Chinese classical formulations.
