Abstract
INTRODUCTION The aim of the study was to present a narrative review of the literature on the management of lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) in patients presenting Parkinsonian disorders (PD). MATERIAL AND METHODS We carried out a literature search in PubMed and Embase database, without time restriction. We used keywords and free-text words around "Parkinsonian disorders" AND "lower urinary tracts symptoms" without language restriction. We focused mainly on papers less than 10 years old. We included all studies evaluating LUTS in patients with PD. RESULTS For the diagnostic management, authors emphasized the importance of differentiating Parkinson's disease with symptoms of bladder overactivity from multiple system atrophy with symptoms of bladder hypoactivity. Urodynamic evaluation was noted as the key element of diagnostic management. The therapeutic management proposed was symptomatic, based on functional urology techniques for the treatment of LUTS, both with drugs (especially anticholinergics) or surgery (intradetrusor injections of botulinum toxin, neuromodulation). Moreover, it was pointed out that it is always necessary to take into account the existence of a possible associated uropathy (prostate adenoma or pelvic prolapse). CONCLUSION Urodynamic evaluation is the cornerstone of diagnostic management of LUTS in patients with PD. Therapeutic management is above all symptomatic and must be done in a collegial way involving the urologist, neurologist, gynecologist, and physical medicine and rehabilitation physician.

Abstract
Urinary tract infection (UTI) is a common precipitant of acute neurological deterioration in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD) and a leading cause of delirium, functional decline, falls, and hospitalization. Various clinical features of PD including autonomic dysfunction and altered urodynamics, frailty and cognitive impairment, and the need for bladder catheterization contribute to an increased risk of UTI. Sepsis due to UTI is a feared consequence of untreated or undertreated UTI and a leading cause of morbidity in PD. Emerging research suggests that immune-mediated brain injury may underlie the pathogenesis of UTI-induced deterioration of PD symptoms. Existing strategies to prevent UTI in patients with PD include use of topical estrogen, prophylactic supplements, antibiotic bladder irrigation, clean catheterization techniques, and prophylactic oral antibiotics, while bacterial interference and vaccines/immunostimulants directed against common UTI pathogens are potentially emerging strategies that are currently under investigation. Future research is needed to mitigate the deleterious effects of UTI in PD.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Urinary dysfunction and constipation, manifestations of pelvic floor dysfunction are common sources of disability and impaired quality of life in women with Parkinson's disease (PD). OBJECTIVE We sought to evaluate the pelvic floor health amongst women with PD and their reporting of bladder and bowel symptoms. METHODS We surveyed women with PD and age-matched controls about pelvic floor health using validated questionnaires. All participants completed the Pelvic Floor Disability Index (PFDI-20), the Pelvic Floor Impact Questionnaire (PFIQ-7) and the Patient-Reported Outcomes Measurement Information System (PROMIS) short form version 2.0 Cognitive Function 8a. Additionally, PD patients underwent the Movement Disorders Society Unified Parkinson's Disease Rating Scale (MDS-UPDRS) scale and the Montreal Cognition Assessment (MoCA). RESULTS Women with PD (n = 59; age, 70.4±8.6 years, PROMIS cognitive score, 52.0±7.8) self-reported urinary symptoms to a greater extent than controls (n = 59; age, 70.2±8.7 years, PROMIS cognitive score, 51.0±10) (68% vs 43%, p < 0.01). The difference was mirrored by higher (worse) scores on both PFDI-20 (35.4 vs 15.6; p = 0.01) and PFIQ-7 (4.8 vs 0; p < 0.01) for PD women compared to controls. Only 63% of all participants with self-reported pelvic floor symptoms had previously reported these symptoms to a health care provider. There was no difference in utilization of specialty care between the two groups (30% vs 46%, p = 0.2). CONCLUSION Pelvic floor dysfunction, more common amongst women with PD, is underreported and undertreated. Our study identifies a key gap in care of women with PD.

Abstract
The goal of this study was to estimate the prevalence of patient-reported genitourinary dysfunction symptoms in Parkinson’s disease patients from the Southeastern Romania.
The study was performed on 86 patients with idiopathic Parkinson’s disease from 5 Outpatients Clinics of Constanta, 56% males, mean age 70.6 years, mean disease duration 6.33 years. The patients have been assessed for the presence of genitourinary symptoms using the Scale for Outcomes in Parkinson’s Disease for Autonomic Symptoms (SCOPA-AUT) as a self-administered questionnaire.
The vast majority of study population (98.8%) reported at least one genitourinary dysfunction. The most common urinary symptom was nocturia (95.3%, 95% CI 90.8-99.7), followed by pollakiuria (82.5%, 95% CI 74.4-90.5), difficulty passing urine and urge to urinate (each present in 76.7% of studied PD patients, 95% CI 67.4-85.3), incomplete bladder emptying (75.5%, 95% CI 66.4-84.5), urinary incontinence (67.4%, 95% CI 57.5-77.3). As frequency, most of the study subjects experienced genitourinary symptoms only “sometimes”. None of the investigated PD patients affected by genitourinary symptoms used specific medication therapy.

Abstract
PURPOSE To investigate efficiency and tolerance of transcutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (TNS) in the overactive bladder syndrome in patients with Parkinson's disease (PD), and to identify predictive factors for compliance. METHODS We conducted a retrospective monocentric study with a cohort of 17 patients with PD who have used TNS for an overactive bladder syndrome. The efficiency of the treatment was evaluated on the clinical improvement felt (rated out of ten). Patients were classified as « adopters » if they continued using TNS for at least one year after beginning the treatment or as « non adopters » if they stopped. Patients characteristics were evaluated for their predictive value for compliance with TNS. RESULTS Out of 17 patients, there were 9 women and 8 men, median age 66 years (55-77), median history for Parkinson's disease 8 years (1-22) and for urinary symptoms 3 years (1-10). Subjective efficiency was seen in 10 patients (59%), on nocturia and/or urinary incontinence for 9 patients (mean efficiency 5.75/10 and median efficiency 6.5/10). Three patients found TNS not effective, and four patients didn't use it long enough to evaluate. Two patients had side effects and stopped the TNS (feeling of electricity and restless leg syndrome). 7 patients were classified as « adopters » and 10 patients as « non adopters » after one year. Most evaluated characteristics proved not to be of predictive value for compliance with TNS except nocturia and pollakiuria (P=0.03 and P=0.05). CONCLUSION Our study seems to reveal TNS is particularly effective on nocturia and urge. Moreover, nocturia and pollakiuria appear to be predictive factors for SNT compliance. Nocturia could be a prominent symptom in SNT's prescription. But studies with more patients should be conducted for obtain better patient selection in TNS. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE IV.

Abstract
Population-based cohort study investigating the risk of depression and other psychiatric disorders for patients with overactive bladder (OAB) syndrome is unavailable. This study investigated the subsequent risk of psychiatric disorders among patients with OAB in an Asian population. Using data from the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan, we established a cohort with 811 patients in an exposed group with OAB between January 1, 2000 and December 31, 2000, and a non-exposed group, without OAB, of 2433 patients without OAB matched by age and year of diagnosis. The occurrence of psychiatric disorders and Cox regression model measured adjusted HRs (aHR) were monitored until the end of 2013. The overall incidence of psychiatric disorders was 41.7% higher in the exposed group with OAB than in the non-exposed group without OAB (14.2% vs 10.1%, p<0.001), with an aHR of 1.34 (95% CI 1.12 to 1.80, p<0.001) for the OAB cohort. OAB was associated with the increased risk of dementia, anxiety, depressive, sleep, and psychotic disorders, with aHRs as 1.53 (p=0.040), 1.61 (p<0.001), 2.10 (p<0.001), 1.43 (p<0.001), and 2.49 (p=0.002), respectively. The risk of psychiatric disorders, including depression and anxiety, is significantly higher in patients with OAB than in those without OAB. Evaluation of psychiatric status in patients with OAB is strongly recommended.

Abstract
Background Whether the patients with migraine have an elevated mortality risk in Taiwan is unclear. Methods We analyzed a subset of the National Health Insurance Research Database of Taiwan and enrolled patients (≥20 years old) who received a diagnosis of migraine between 2000 and 2012. The migraine cohort was further divided into the ones ever with status migrainosus (SM) and non-status migraine (NM) subcohort and compared with a 1:4 age-, sex-, comorbidity-, and index date-matched comparison cohort. We calculated the adjusted hazard ratios (aHRs) and 95% confidence intervals (CIs) for subsequent mortality risk after adjustment for age, sex, and comorbidities. Results Compared with the comparison cohort, the corresponding aHRs for mortality were 0.81 (95% CI = 0.76–0.87), 0.89 (95% CI = 0.80–0.98), and 0.78 (95% CI = 0.72–0.84) in the total migraine, SM, and NM cohorts, respectively. SM, male sex, comorbid alcohol-related illness, depression, and mental disorders were identified as risk factors for subsequent mortality. Comorbid alcohol-related illness significantly increased the mortality risk in patients with migraine. Conclusion Taiwanese patients with migraine require comprehensive and universal medical care. These patients would benefit from controlling their migraines and reducing the subsequent mortality.
