Abstract
Aims of our study were to evaluate the feasibility and diagnostic value of two-dimensional shear wave elastography in dogs with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease, and acute on chronic kidney disease, its correlation with renal functional (creatinine, urea), and prognostic parameters (serum calcium-phosphorus product, urinary output), and with contrast-enhanced ultrasound (qualitative and quantitative evaluation). The study was prospective. A group of healthy (Group A) and a group of nephropathic dogs (Group B) were included. Shear wave elastography was performed on the left kidney of the subjects of both groups; contrast-enhanced ultrasound was performed only in dogs with acute kidney injury and acute on chronic kidney disease. Sixty-four dogs were included (Group A, n=24; Group B, n=40). The renal stiffness values were significantly higher in Group B than Group A; optimal cut-off stiffness values for detection of renal pathology were: ≥1.51 m/sec (area under the curve, 0.84; 95% confidence interval 0.74-0.94) and ≥6.75 kPa (area under the curve, 0.84; 95% confidence interval 0.73-0.94). For contrast-enhanced ultrasound, a significant positive correlation was found between renal stiffness, area under the curve, and wash-out area under the curve values of cortex quantitative analysis. No correlations were found between renal stiffness and renal functional and prognostic parameters. Shear wave elastography showed diagnostic utility to detect renal abnormalities in dogs with acute kidney injury, chronic kidney disease and acute on chronic kidney disease, however, it could not differentiate between these different nephropathies.

Abstract
Hemangiosarcoma is a mesenchymal neoplasm originating in the endothelial cells of blood vessels; they can be classified as non-visceral and visceral types. Non-visceral hemangiosarcomas can affect the skin, subcutaneous tissues, and muscle tissues; visceral hemangiosarcomas can affect the spleen, liver, heart, lungs, kidneys, oral cavity, bones, bladder, uterus, tongue, and retroperitoneum. Among domestic species, dogs are most affected by cutaneous HSA. Cutaneous HSA represents approximately 14% of all HSA diagnosed in this species and less than 5% of dermal tumors, according to North American studies. However, Brazilian epidemiological data demonstrate a higher prevalence, which may represent 27 to 80% of all canine HSAs and 13.9% of all skin neoplasms diagnosed in this species. Cutaneous HSA most commonly affects middle-aged to elderly dogs (between 8 and 15 years old), with no gender predisposition for either the actinic or non-actinic forms. The higher prevalence of cutaneous HSA in some canine breeds is related to lower protection from solar radiation, as low skin pigmentation and hair coverage lead to greater sun exposure. Actinic changes, such as solar dermatosis, are frequent in these patients, confirming the influence of solar radiation on the development of this neoplasm. There are multiple clinical manifestations of hemangiosarcoma in canines. The diagnostic approach and staging classification of cutaneous HSAs are similar between the different subtypes. The definitive diagnosis is obtained through histopathological analysis of incisional or excisional biopsies. Cytology can be used as a presurgical screening test; however, it has little diagnostic utility in cases of HSA because there is a high risk of blood contamination and sample hemodilution. Surgery is generally the treatment of choice for dogs with localized non-visceral HSA without evidence of metastatic disease. Recently, electrochemotherapy (ECT) has emerged as an alternative therapy for the local ablative treatment of different neoplastic types; the use of radiotherapy for the treatment of dogs with cutaneous HSA is uncommon. There is greater consensus in the literature regarding the indications for adjuvant chemotherapy in subcutaneous and muscular HSA; doxorubicin is the most frequently used antineoplastic agent for subcutaneous and muscular subtypes and can be administered alone or in combination with other drugs. Other therapies include antiangiogenic therapy, photodynamic therapy, the association of chemotherapy with the metronomic dose, targeted therapies, and natural products. The benefits of these therapies are presented and discussed. In general, the prognosis of splenic and cardiac HSA is unfavorable. As a challenging neoplasm, studies of new protocols and treatment modalities are necessary to control this aggressive disease.

Abstract
Background PET-CT is the first choice for the imaging diagnosis of intraperitoneal lymphomas. Contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS) is rare in the diagnosis of intraperitoneal nodal lymphoma. Case summary A 62-year-old man was admitted for examination with "right upper abdominal pain". Ultrasound was used to refer to the masses in the hilar region, spleen, and anterior sacral region respectively. The masses were all hypoechoic, and blood flow signals could be detected by CDFI. Laboratory tests of CA125 were within normal limits. CEUS examination was performed on the three masses respectively. The three masses showed different perfusion patterns. Thickened vessels appeared around the mass in the hilar region, a peripheral centrally directed perfusion pattern was observed in the splenic mass, and blood supply vessels appeared in the center of the presacral mass with a significant filling defect. They all showed a contrast pattern with rapid clearance and hypoenhancement compared with the surrounding areas. Ultrasound guided needle biopsy revealed non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, diffuse large B-cell lymphoma, non-germinal center origin. After biopsy, the patient was treated with R-CHOP regimen for chemotherapy, and the tumor disappeared by routine ultrasound review after 5 cycles of chemotherapy. Conclusion To the best of our knowledge, this report is the first to describe the findings of CEUS in intraperitoneal nodal lymphoma. CEUS has various manifestations in intraperitoneal nodal lymphoma. Future studies are still needed to explore the diagnostic features of CEUS in intraperitoneal nodal lymphoma.

Abstract
Radiography and ultrasonography are the most used techniques in veterinary clinical practice, due to organizational, managerial and, mostly, economic reasons. However, in the last decades, Computed tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and, to a lesser extent, Nuclear Medicine (MN) are increasingly used. As we said in the previous article, all the Diagnostic Imaging techniques are actually "indispensable" in Veterinary Medicine, where many patients do not show any symptoms.This second part describes Computed Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance (MRI) and Nuclear Medicine techniques in Veterinary Medicine are described.

Abstract
Sternal lymph nodes (SLNs) drain a multitude of regions in dogs, including the pectoral and shoulder region, the thoracic wall and mammary glands, the mediastinum, thymus, diaphragm, and the ventral abdominal wall and peritoneal cavity. Neoplastic conditions of these regions can lead to sternal lymphadenopathy. The aim of this study was to assess the most frequent localizations of the primary neoplasia and the most frequent tumor types in dogs with sternal lymphadenopathy. Computed tomographic (CT) characteristics of SLNs in dogs with confirmed neoplasia were also described. For this single-center retrospective descriptive study, dogs with sternal lymphadenopathy and cytological or histological diagnosis of neoplasia were included. Sixty dogs fulfilled the inclusion criteria: 30 (50%) with thoracic neoplasia, 19 (32%) with abdominal neoplasia, 6 (10%) with neoplasia of the front limbs and 5 (8%) with generalized neoplasia. Based on the cytological/histological diagnosis of the primary neoplasia, 31/60 (52%) dogs presented with a sarcoma, 15/60 (25%) with carcinoma, and 14/60 (23%) with round cell tumor. The presence of heterogeneous contrast enhancement was more frequent in dogs with sarcoma, while the concomitant presence of other abnormal lymph nodes was more frequent in dogs with round cell neoplasia. Tumors of different types and in different location can result in sternal lymphadenopathy in dogs. The most frequent in this study were thoracic and abdominal neoplasia, followed by neoplasia of the shoulder region. Sarcoma was the most common tumor type detected in this study, and the main CT characteristic of the SLNs in case of sarcoma was heterogeneous contrast enhancement.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To quantitatively compare the diagnostic values of conventional region of interest (ROI)-based and volumetric histogram analysis derived from CT enhancement in differentiating malignant and benign renal tumors. METHODS A total of 230 patients with pathologically confirmed renal tumors who had undergone CT enhancement were classified into clear cell renal cell carcinoma (ccRCC) (n = 133), non-ccRCC (n = 56), and benign renal tumor(n = 41) group. Parametric CT enhancement of each tumor from volumetric histogram were obtained using in-house software, including 10th percentile, 25th percentile, median, 75th percentile, 90th percentile, mean, standard deviation, as well as skewness, kurtosis and entropy, and histogram metrics among these groups were analyzed. ROI-based enhancement density was also analyzed. RESULTS The entropy and SD values of ccRCCs were higher than those of non-ccRCCs and benign renal tumors (p < 0.05). The 10th percentile, 25th percentile, median, 75th percentile, 90th percentile and mean values of ccRCCs were lower than those of benign renal tumors, however, higher than those of non-ccRCCs (p < 0.05). The ROI-based enhancement density of non-ccRCCs were lower than those of ccRCCs and benign renal tumors(p < 0.05). Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curve analyses showed that entropy and mean values had the highest diagnostic efficacy in differentiating ccRCCs/non-ccRCCs and benign renal tumors. ROC curve analyses showed that mean values had the highest diagnostic efficacy in differentiating ccRCCs and non-ccRCCs. In terms of pairwise comparisons of ROC curves and diagnostic efficacy, ROI-based CT enhancement density was worse than volumetric histogram analysis (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION Volumetric histogram analysis parameters can effectively distinguish malignant and benign renal tumors. ADVANCES IN KNOWLEDGE 1. Abstract
A 10-year-old, intact male Siberian husky dog was presented for a suspected left renal cyst. Computed tomography (CT) identified a large, left kidney mass with retroperitoneal hemorrhage. A left-sided nephrectomy was performed, and histopathology confirmed a renal plasmacytoma. Perioperative screening for multiple myeloma was negative. The dog was lost to follow-up and was euthanized 11 months after surgery. A necropsy was not performed. To the authors' knowledge, this is the first case of renal extramedullary plasmacytoma in a dog. Key clinical message: This report describes the clinical presentation, and laboratory, diagnostic imaging, and surgery findings of a case of renal extramedullary plasmacytoma in a dog.
