Abstract
Fritillaria cirrhosa, an endangered medicinal plant in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau, is facing resource scarcity. Artificial cultivation has been employed to address this issue, but problems related to continuous cultivation hinder successful transplantation. Imbalanced microbial communities are considered a potential cause, yet the overall changes in the microbial community under continuous cropping systems remain poorly understood. Here, we investigated the effects of varying durations of continuous cropping on the bacterial and fungal communities, as well as enzymatic activities, in the rhizospheric soil of F. cirrhosa. Our findings revealed that continuous cropping of F. cirrhosa resulted in soil acidification, nutrient imbalances, and increased enzyme activity. Specifically, after 10 years of continuous cropping, there was a notable shift in the abundance and diversity (e.g., Chao1 index) of soil bacteria and fungi. Moreover, microbial composition analyses revealed a significant accumulation of harmful microorganisms associated with soil-borne diseases (e.g., Luteimonas, Parastagonospora, Pseudogymnoascus) in successively cropped soils, in contrast to the significant reduction of beneficial microorganisms (e.g., Sphingomonas, Lysobacter, Cladosporium) that promote plant growth and development and protect against diseases such as Fusarium sp.These changes led to decreased connectivity and stability within the soil microbial community. Structural equation modeling and redundancy analysis revealed that alkaline hydrolytic nitrogen and available phosphorus directly influenced soil pH, which was identified as the primary driver of soil microbial community changes and subsequently contributed to soil health deterioration. Overall, our results highlight that soil acidification and imbalanced rhizosphere microbial communities are the primary challenges associated with continuous cropping of F. cirrhosa. These findings establish a theoretical foundation for standardized cultivation practices of F. cirrhosa and the bioremediation of continuously cultivated soils.

Abstract
Salvia miltiorrhiza is a kind of medicinal plant with various pharmacological activities. Few studies on the composition and diversity of rhizosphere microbial communities at different growth stages have been conducted on Salvia miltiorrhiz; in particular, salviorrhiza grows in soil that has been continuously planted for 3 years. The purpose of this study was to understand the changes of soil physicochemical properties of Salvia miltiorrhiza at different growth stages, and to study the composition and diversity of rhizosphere microbial community at different growth stages. Illumina NovaSeq sequencing technology was used to analyze the bacterial 16S rRNA gene and the fungal ITS region in the rhizosphere soil of Salvia miltiorrhiza at different growth stages. The results showed that the dominant bacterial phyla in the Salvia miltiorrhiza rhizosphere were Proteobacteria, Bacteroidetes, Acidobacteria, Firmicutes, Actinobacteria, and Chloroflexi. The dominant fungal phyla were Ascomycota, Mortierellomycota, Basidiomycota, and Rozellomycota. During the growth of Salvia miltiorrhiza, the physical and chemical properties of soil changed. As the Salvia miltiorrhiza grew, the content of available phosphorus, available potassium, pH, nitrate nitrogen, and ammonium nitrogen significantly decreased. Ammonium nitrogen and nitrate nitrogen had a greater impact on the bacterial community structure in the rhizosphere than on the fungal community structure. The work was to reveal differences in the rhizosphere bacterial and fungal community structure during different growth stages of Salvia miltiorrhiza, further understand the changes of rhizosphere microbial ecological characteristics and soil physicochemical properties during the cultivation of Salvia miltiorrhiza.

Abstract
For potato production, continuous cropping (CC) could lead to autotoxicity buildup and microflora imbalance in the field soil, which may result in failure of crops and reduction in yield. In this study, non-targeted metabolomics (via liquid chromatography with tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS)) combined with metagenomic profiling (via high-throughput amplicon sequencing) were used to evaluate correlations between metabolomics of potato root exudates and communities of bacteria and fungi around potato plants to illustrate the impacts of CC. Potato plants were grown in soil collected from fields with various CC years (0, 1, 4, and 7 years). Metabolomic analysis showed that the contents and types of potential autotoxins in potato root exudates increased significantly in CC4 and CC7 plants (i.e., grown in soils with 4 and 7 years of CC). The differentially expressed metabolites were mainly produced via alpha-linolenic acid metabolism in plant groups CC0 and CC1 (i.e., no CC or 1 year CC). The metabolomics of the groups CC4 and CC7 became dominated by styrene degradation, biosynthesis of siderophore group non-ribosomal peptides, phenylpropanoid biosynthesis, and biosynthesis of various plant secondary metabolites. Continuous cropping beyond 4 years significantly changed the bacterial and fungal communities in the soil around the potato crops, with significant reduction of beneficial bacteria and accumulation of harmful fungi. Correlations between DEMs and microflora biomarkers were established with strong significances. These results suggested that continuous cropping of potato crops changed their metabolism as reflected in the plant root exudates and drove rhizosphere microflora to directions less favorable to plant growth, and it needs to be well managed to assure potato yield.

Abstract
The cultivation of poplar trees is hindered by persistent cropping challenges, resulting in reduced wood productivity and increased susceptibility to soil-borne diseases. These issues primarily arise from alterations in microbial structure and the infiltration of pathogenic fungi. To investigate the impact on soil fertility, we conducted an analysis using soil samples from both perennial poplar trees and three successive generations of continuously cropped poplar trees. The quantity and community composition of bacteria and fungi in the rhizosphere were assessed using the Illumina MiSeq platform. The objective of this study is to elucidate the impact of continuous cropping challenges on soil fertility and rhizosphere microorganisms in poplar trees, thereby establishing a theoretical foundation for investigating the mechanisms underlying these challenges. The study found that the total bacteria in the BT group is 0.42 times higher than the CK group, and the total fungi is 0.33 times lower than the CK group. The BT and CK groups presented relatively similar bacterial richness and diversity, while the indices showed a significant (p < 0.05) higher fungal richness and diversity in the CK group. The fractions of Bacillus were 2.22% and 2.41% in the BT and CK groups, respectively. There was a 35.29% fraction of Inocybe in the BT group, whereas this was barely observed in the CK group. The fractions of Geopora were 26.25% and 5.99%, respectively in the BT and CK groups. Modifying the microbial community structure in soil subjected to continuous cropping is deemed as the most effective approach to mitigate the challenges associated with this agricultural practice.

Abstract
Despite numerous reports on phytoremediation of heavy metals contaminated soil, there are few reports on plant retention of heavy metals in the mining area slope. This study was the first of its kind to explore the cadmium (Cd) retention capacity of the blueberry (Vaccinium ashei Reade). Firstly, we investigated the stress response of blueberry to different soil Cd concentrations (1, 5, 10, 15, 20 mg/kg) to assess its potential for phytoremediation by pot experiments. The results showed that the blueberry biomass exposed to 10 and 15 mg/kg Cd was significantly increased compared with the control (1 mg/kg Cd); the blueberry crown increased by 0.40% and 0.34% in 10 and 15 mg/kg Cd-contaminated soil, respectively, compared with control; the blueberry heigh did not even change significantly in each treatment group; the total chlorophyll content, peroxidase and catalase activity of blueberry were enhanced in 5-20 mg/kg Cd treatments. Furthermore, the Cd contents of blueberry in the root, stem and leaf increased significantly as the Cd concentration of soil increased. We found that more Cd accumulated in blueberry root: the bioaccumulation concentration factor was root > stem > leaf for all groups; the residual-Cd (Cd speciation) in soil increased by 3.83%-411.11% in blueberry-planted versus unplanted groups; blueberry improved the Cd-contaminated soil micro-ecological environment including soil organic matter, available K and P, as well as microbial communities. Then, to investigate the effect of blueberry cultivation on Cd migration, we developed a bioretention model and revealed that soil Cd transport along the model slope was significantly weakened by blueberry cultivation, especially at the bottom of the model. In a word, this research suggests a promising method for the phytoremediation of Cd-contaminated soil and the reduction of Cd migration in mining areas.

Abstract
In poplar cultivation, continuous cropping obstacles affect wood yield and soil-borne diseases, primarily due to structural changes in microbes and fungus infection. The bacterium Bacillus cereus BJS-1-3 has strong antagonistic properties against pathogens that were isolated from the rhizosphere soil of poplars. Poplar rhizospheres were investigated for the effects of Bacillus cereus BJS-1-3 on microbial communities. Three successive generations of soil were used to replant poplar seedlings. BJS-1-3 inoculated poplars were larger, had higher plant height and breast height diameter, and had a greater number of total and culturable bacteria than non-inoculated controls. B. cereus BJS-1-3 inoculated poplar rhizospheres were sequenced, utilizing the Illumina MiSeq platform to analyze changes in diversity and structure. The fungi abundance and diversity in the BJS-1-3 rhizosphere were significantly lower than in the control rhizosphere. In comparison to the control group, Bacillus sp. constituted 2.87% and 2.38% of the total bacterial community, while Rhizoctonia sp. constituted 2.06% and 6.00% of the total fungal community. Among the potential benefits of B. cereus BJS-1-3 in poplar cultivation is that it enhances rhizosphere microbial community structure and facilitates the growth of trees.

Abstract
Replant disease caused by continuous cropping commonly occurs in yam with consecutive monoculture. However, little is known about how the continuous cropping of yam affects the rhizospheric soil bacterial community structure. In this study, the effects of continuous cropping on rhizospheric soil characteristics, bacterial diversity, and community structure were investigated in the Yongfeng yam fields under monoculture for 1, 5, 10, 15, and 20 years. Long-term monoculture caused soil acidification and increased the concentration of available potassium (AK) and available phosphorus (AP), and soil bacterial richness, but decreased the soil bacterial diversity. An exception was for the field under monoculture for 20 years as it showed the highest bacterial diversity. The relative abundance of beneficial bacteria, such as Proteobacteria, Actinobacteria, and Chloroflexi decreased while the relative abundance of harmful bacteria, including Gemmatimonadetes and Acidobacteria, increased with an extended continuous cultivation time. The networks varied among yams with different cultivation years and became complex with the increase in cultivation years. However, after time in monoculture, the bacterial network decreased gradually and existed stably. These changes in bacterial community composition and co-occurrence of networks may increase the potential risk of soil-borne disease and reduce the yield and quality of Yongfeng yam.

Effect of Different Types of Continuous Cropping on Microbial Communities and Physicochemical Properties of Black Soils. DIVERSITY 2022. Abstract
The barriers caused by continuous tillage have had a negative impact on the crop and soil environment. Black soils are economically important as a valuable natural resource in Northeast China, but limited soil resources have led to continuous planting of major food crops and medicinal plants. At present, the extent to which two different types of plants—grains and medicinal plants that are successively grown on the same soil—have an impact on soil quality and microbiology is not known. In this study, we investigated the effects of different types of long-term continuous cropping on soil and soil microbial communities by determining the physicochemical properties, the soil community composition and function of grain crops and medicinal-plant soils with more than five years of continuous cropping, as well as fallow soils. The results showed that long-term continuous cropping reduced the pH of different types of soils, but there was no significant difference in the content of AK. The relative abundance of beneficial dominant phyla, such as Actinomycetes, Acidobacteria, and Green Campylobacter decreased and the relative abundance of pathogenic genera such as Alternaria and Didymellaceae, increased after the long-term continuous cropping of DM (grain crops) and DG (medicinal plants). Specifically, continuous cropping increased the relative abundance of fungi with pathogenic potential, such as Sordariomycetes, Dothideomycetes, Saccharomycetes, and Mucoromycetes in grain soils and Agaricostilbomycetes in herb soils. Among the soil physicochemical properties, NH4+-N and pH were the most important factors contributing to changes in the composition of bacterial and fungal communities, respectively. Continuous cropping of different types of plants altered the diversity of the microbial communities, with the most significant effect from the continuous cropping of food crops. Our findings provide a scientific and theoretical basis for future agricultural research to improve soil microbial activity, mitigate continuous-cropping barriers, and increase productivity.

Abstract
Macadamia integrifolia is the most economically important Proteaceae crop known for its edible nuts. The present study was conducted to examine the effect of continuous cultivation (for 1, 5, and 20 years) of M. integrifolia on soil quality, bacterial diversity, and metabolites. Soil rhizospheres from three different Macadamia rhizosphere orchards, 1-year monoculture orchard (CK), 5-year monoculture orchard (Y5), and 20-year monoculture orchard (Y20), were analyzed through metagenomic and metabolomic profiling. The soil physicochemical properties, including organic matter, and available nutrients (P, N, and K) were first increased significantly (p < 0.05) from the CK to the Y5 group and then decreased (p < 0.05) from the Y5 to the Y20 group. The soil pH continuously decreased (p < 0.05) over time from CK to Y20. Metagenomic profiling revealed that Actinobacteria, Acidobacteria, and Proteobacteria were the top three abundant phyla with their inconsistent relative abundance patterns from CK to Y20 (CK: 23.76%, Y5: 34. 06%, and Y20: 31.55%), (CK: 13.59%, Y5: 18.59%, and Y20: 21.35%), and (CK: 27.59%, Y5: 15.98%, and Y20: 17.08%), respectively. Furthermore, the Y5 rhizospheres had a higher number of beneficial bacterial genera belonging to Proteobacteria and Actinobacteria than the Y20 rhizospheres. The KEGG annotation analysis revealed that cellular processes, organism systems, metabolism, and genetic information were the most enriched functional categories. CAZy database screening indicated the highest enrichment of glycoside hydrolases following the glycoside transferases and carbohydrate-binding modules. Differential metabolite analysis revealed the highest number of metabolites (11) in the Y5 group than in the Y20 group (6). It is concluded that continuous monoculture of M. integrifolia improves the soil physicochemical properties, bacterial diversity, and metabolite contents in short-term planted orchards which, however, are deteriorated in long-term planted orchards.

Abstract
Continuous potato cropping systems cause yield reduction, soil-borne disease aggravation, and soil degradation, but crop rotation can alleviate these negative effects. However, there are limited studies on the relationships between microbial community and other soil biochemical properties of continuous potato cropping at both pre-planting and harvest in North China. A 4-year study was conducted to explore the effects of different rotation system on soil biochemical properties, microbial community at pre-planting and harvest, and potato yield, tuber number and black scurf incidence at harvest in 2020 and 2021, which included 4 treatments vis. potato-potato-potato-potato (PC), potato-oat-faba bean-potato (PR), oat-faba bean-potato-oat (O), and faba bean-potato-oat-faba bean (B). The results showed that soil biochemical properties and microbial community among all treatments showed no significant difference at pre-planting after a long cold winter generally. At harvest, PC reduced tuber yield and number and significantly increased black scurf incidence relative to potato rotation systems. PC also reduced soil enzyme activities, the content of soil nutrients, and fungal community diversity, and increased bacterial community diversity compared with the other treatments, insignificantly when compared with PR. Relative abundance of microorganisms related to the degradation of organic residues, soil nitrogen cycling, and disease suppression, such as the genera Devosia, Aeromicrobium, Paraphoma, and Papiliotrema, were significantly higher in O or B than in PC and PR, while microorganisms related to disease infection such as the genera Pseudomonas, Colletotrichum, Plectosphaerella, Fusarium, and Verticillium exhibited increased in PC and PR. Principal Coordinates Analysis (PCoA) showed that there were significant differences in the microbial community structure of PC and PR at harvest compared with that of O and B. Redundancy analysis (RDA) revealed that soil available potassium (AK), acid phosphatase (ACP), available phosphorus (AP), sucrase (SUC) and pH were the dominant factors that significantly affected bacterial and fungal community structure. Partial least squares structural equation model indicated rotation system had significant negative effect on fungal community. It was concluded that growing oat or faba bean after potato can increase soil beneficial microorganisms and maintain the ecosystem healthy, thus reducing the incidence of tuber black scurf and increasing potato yield.

Abstract
Crop rotation is a typical agronomic practice to mitigate soil deterioration caused by continuous cropping. However, the mechanisms of soil biotic and abiotic factors in response to different cropping patterns in acidic and polyphenol-rich tea nurseries remain unclear. In this study, the composition and function of microbial communities were comparatively investigated in soils of tea seedlings continuously planted for 2 years (AC: autumn-cutting; SC: summer-cutting) and in soils rotation with strawberries alternately for 3 years (AR: autumn-cutting). The results showed that AR significantly improved the survival of tea seedlings but greatly reduced the contents of soil polyphenols. The lower soil polyphenol levels in AR were associated with the decline of nutrients (SOC, TN, Olsen-P) availability, which stimulates the proliferation of nutrient cycling-related bacteria and mixed-trophic fungi, endophytic fungi and ectomycorrhizal fungi, thus further satisfying the nutrient requirements of tea seedlings. Moreover, lower levels of polyphenols facilitated the growth of plant beneficial microorganisms (Bacillus, Mortierella, etc.) and suppressed pathogenic fungi (Pseudopestalotiopsis, etc.), creating a more balanced microbial community that is beneficial to plant health. Our study broadens the understanding of the ecological role of plant secondary metabolites and provides new insights into the sustainability of tea breeding.

Abstract
Aims In garlic cultivation, long-time monoculture has resulted in continuous-cropping obstacles. However, the cause has not been studied to date. Methods We analyzed soils from garlic fields in Pengzhou, China, to determine continuous-cropping obstacle related changes in soil physicochemical properties and enzyme activities, and in the diversity and composition of bacterial and fungal communities. Furthermore, we examined the relationships between soil properties and the bacterial and fungal communities. Results The soil pH and the soil catalase, urease, invertase, and polyphenol oxidase activities were lower in the cropping obstacle soil than in the healthy control soil. The richness and diversity of the bacteria were lower in the cropping obstacle soil than in the control. The bacterial and fungal communities in the cropping obstacle soil were clearly different from those in the control soil. The differences in bacterial communities between the cropping obstacle soil and the control soil were associated with differences in pH and available potassium content. The taxa with higher relative abundances in the cropping obstacle soils included potential plant pathogens and the taxa with lower relative abundances included potential plant growth promoters. Conclusion The enrichment of plant pathogens and the depletion of plant growth promoting fungi may have contributed to the poor growth of garlic in the cropping obstacle soil. The enzyme activity and microbial community differences were associated with acidification that was likely an important factor in the deterioration of the soil ecological environment and the garlic cropping obstacle. The results provide information to guide agricultural practices in cultivating garlic.

Abstract
Continuous cropping often leads to an unbalanced soil microbial community, which in turn negatively affects soil functions. However, systematic research of how these effects impact the bacterial composition, microbial functional traits, and soil metabolites is lacking. In the present study, the rhizosphere soil samples of Tibetan barley continuously monocropped for 2 (CCY02), 5 (CCY05), and 10 (CCY10) years were collected. By utilizing 16S high-throughput sequencing, untargeted metabolomes, and quantitative microbial element cycling smart chips, we examined the bacterial community structure, soil metabolites, and bacterial functional gene abundances, respectively. We found that bacterial richness (based on Chao1 and Phylogenetic Diversity [PD] indices) was significantly higher in CCY02 and CCY10 than in CCY05. As per principal component analysis (PCA), samples from the continuous monocropping year tended to share more similar species compositions and soil metabolites, and exhibited distinct patterns over time. The results of the Procrustes analysis indicated that alterations in the soil metabolic profiles and bacterial functional genes after long-term continuous cropping were mainly mediated by soil microbial communities (P < 0.05). Moreover, 14 genera mainly contributed to the sample dissimilarities. Of these, five genera were identified as the dominant shared taxa, including Blastococcus, Nocardioides, Sphingomonas, Bacillus, and Solirubrobacter. The continuous cropping of Tibetan barley significantly increased the abundances of genes related to C-degradation (F = 9.25, P = 0.01) and P-cycling (F = 5.35, P = 0.03). N-cycling significantly negatively correlated with bacterial diversity (r = - 0.71, P = 0.01). The co-occurrence network analysis revealed that nine hub genera correlated with most of the functional genes and a hub taxon, Desulfuromonadales, mainly co-occurred with the metabolites via both negative and positive correlations. Collectively, our findings indicated that continuous cropping significantly altered the bacterial community structure, functioning of rhizosphere soils, and soil metabolites, thereby providing a comprehensive understanding of the effects of the long-term continuous cropping of Tibetan barley.

Abstract
Solanum tuberosum, commonly known as potato, is the most important non-cereal crop in the world. However, its cultivation is prone to disease and other issues. In recent years, a newfound interest in the soil microbiome and the potential benefits it may convey has led researchers to study plant–microbe interactions in great detail and has led to the identification of putative beneficial microbial taxa. In this survey, we examined fungal and bacterial diversity using high-throughput sequencing in soils under a potato crop in southeastern Wyoming, USA. Our results show decreased microbial diversity in the rhizosphere, with increases in the abundances of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi as well as pathogenic microbes. We show coarse taxonomic differences in microbial assemblages when comparing the bulk and rhizosphere soils for bacteria but not for fungi, suggesting that the two kingdoms respond differently to the selective pressures of the rhizosphere. Using cooccurrence network analysis, we identify microbes that may serve as keystone taxa and provide benefits to their host plants through competitive exclusion of detrimental pathogenic taxa and increased nutrient availability. Our results provide additional information on the structure and complexity of the potato rhizosphere microbiome and highlight candidate taxa for microbial isolation and inoculation.

Abstract
Long-term continuous monocropping negatively influences the physicochemical and biological characteristics of cultivated soil, especially for the economically important crop of flue-cured tobacco that is intolerant to continuous monocropping. The underlying mechanism of soil sickness under continuous monoculture and the temporal dynamic changes over the tobacco life cycle among different monoculture time spans remain poorly characterized. In this study, high-throughput sequencing targeting the 16S rRNA gene phylogenetic marker was performed on 60 soil samples of rhizosphere soil from flue−cured tobacco in the replanting, growth and harvest period across 5, 10, and 20 years of a continuous monocropping system. Bacterial community diversity decreased with the increase in duration of continuous monocropping, and the rhizosphere microbiota was highly dynamic in the harvest period. The random forests algorithm identified 17 taxa as biomarkers and a model was established to correlate root microbiota with continuous monocropping time of flue-cured tobacco. Molecular ecological network analysis elaborated the differences and interactions in bacterial co-occurrence patterns under different monocropping systems. The co-occurrence microbial network was larger in size but there were fewer interactions among microbial communities with the increase in continuous monocropping duration. These results provide insights into the changes of flue−cured tobacco root microbiome diversity in response to continuous monocropping and suggest a model for successional dynamics of the root-associated microbiota over continuous monocropping time and development stage. This study may help elucidate the theoretical basis underlying obstacles to continuous monocropping and could contribute to improving guidance for tobacco production.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Continuous cropping obstacles from sweet potatoes are widespread, which seriously reduce the yield and quality, causing certain economic losses. Bacteria of rhizospheric soil are the richest and are associated with obstacles to continuous cropping. However, few studies have examined how continuous sweet potato cropping affects the rhizospheric soil bacterial community structure. RESULTS In the study, the Illumina MiSeq method was used to explore the variations in rhizospheric soil bacterial community structure of different sweet potato varieties after continuous cropping, as well as the correlation between soil characteristics and the bacterial community. The results showed that (1) the dominant bacterial phyla in rhizospheric soils from both Xushu 18 and Yizi 138 were Proteobacteria, Acidobacteria, and Actinobacteria. The most dominant genus was Subgroup 6_norank. The relative abundance of rhizospheric soil bacteria varied significantly between the two sweet potato varieties. (2) The richness and diversity indexes of bacteria were higher in Xushu 18 rhizospheric soil than in Yizi 138 soil after continuous cropping. Moreover, beneficial Lysobacter and Bacillus were more prevalent in Xushu 18, while Yizi 138 contained more harmful Gemmatimonadetes. (3) Soil pH decreased after continuous cropping, and redundancy analysis indicated that soil pH was significantly correlated with the bacterial community. Spearman's rank correlation coefficient analysis demonstrated that pH was positively associated with Planctomycetes and Acidobacteria, but negatively associated with Actinobacteria and Firmicutes. CONCLUSIONS After continuous cropping, the bacterial community structure and physicochemical properties of sweet potato rhizospheric soil were changed, and the changes from different sweet potato varieties were different. The contents of Lysobacter and Bacillus were higher in the sweet potato variety resistant to continuous cropping. It provides a basis for developing new microbial fertilizers for sweet potatoes to alleviate the continuous cropping obstacle.

Abstract
Continuous cropping lowers the production and quality of ramie (Boehmeria nivea L. Gaud). This study aimed to reveal the metagenomic and metabolomic changes between the healthy- and obstacle-plant after a long period of continuous cropping. After 10 years of continuous cropping, ramie planted in some portions of the land exhibited weak growth and low yield (Obstacle-group), whereas, ramie planted in the other portion of the land grew healthy (Health-group). We collected rhizosphere soil and root samples from which measurements of soil chemical and plant physiochemical properties were taken. All samples were subjected to non-targeted gas chromatograph-mass spectrometer (GS/MS) metabolome analysis. Further, metagenomics was performed to analyze the functional genes in rhizospheric soil organisms. Based on the findings, ramie in Obstacle-group were characterized by shorter plant height, smaller stem diameter, and lower fiber production than that in Health-group. Besides, the Obstacle-group showed a lower relative abundance of Rhizobiaceae, Lysobacter antibioticus, and Bradyrhizobium japonicum, but a higher relative abundance of Azospirillum lipoferum and A. brasilense compared to the Health-group. Metabolomic analysis results implicated cysteinylglycine (Cys-Gly), uracil, malonate, and glycerol as the key differential metabolites between the Health- and Obstacle-group. Notably, this work revealed that bacteria such as Rhizobia potentially synthesize IAA and are likely to reduce the biotic stress of ramie. L. antibioticus also exerts a positive effect on plants in the fight against biotic stress and is mediated by metabolites including orthophosphate, uracil, and Cys-Gly, which may serve as markers for disease risk. These bacterial effects can play a key role in plant resistance to biotic stress via metabolic and methionine metabolism pathways.
