Abstract
BACKGROUND It has been suggested that the reduction in subacromial space during arm elevation is one of the potential mechanisms in the etiology of Rotator cuff tendinopathy. While it is known that Kinesio taping reduces the narrowing of the acromiohumeral distance (AHD) during arm elevation, the effect of Dynamic taping remains unknown. PURPOSE This study aimed to compare the immediate effects of Kinesio taping and Dynamic taping on AHD in individuals with symptomatic Rotator Cuff Tendinopathy. STUDY DESIGN Two group pre-post-test repeated measures design was used. METHODS Thirty-two participants were randomly assigned to two groups: Kinesio taping group (n = 16) and Dynamic taping group (n = 16). AHD measurements were taken via ultrasound at 0° (rest) and 60° shoulder abduction both before and immediately after taping. Repeated measures ANOVAs were used for statistical analyses. RESULTS The study demonstrated that both taping methods led to a significant increase in AHD at both neutral and 60° abduction. However, the increase in AHD with Dynamic taping was statistically greater than with Kinesio taping in both neutral (p < 0.05) and 60° abduction (p < 0.001). CONCLUSIONS The findings of this study suggest that Dynamic taping techniques may be a more effective approach for improving AHD for symptomatic patients. Therefore, Dynamic taping has the potential to be clinically beneficial before engaging in exercises.

Abstract
BACKGROUND To evaluate whether the application of Dynamic tape to the pitching shoulder could result in reduced shoulder fatigue, reduced delayed onset muscle soreness, or improved performance. METHODS This is a randomized crossover study, in which participants and investigators were blinded, included 20 amateur adult baseball players without shoulder pain. Sham taping and Dynamic taping were randomized, using an internal rotation support taping method in both groups. Bilateral shoulder strength and range of motion were measured with a handheld dynamometer and clinical goniometer before and after each test. The percentage of strength decrease, range of motion, pitch velocity, spin rate, and shoulder pain were recorded. The post-pitching decrease in strength and percentage of strength decrease were calculated by paired t-test and the pitching speed and spin rates in the innings for both the sham and Dynamic taping groups were analyzed using two-way ANOVA. RESULTS Compared with the sham group, the Dynamic tape group showed a significant loss in the percentage of strength decrease in internal rotation compared to the sham group (-1.4% vs. 7.0%, p = 0.03). However, no significant differences were observed in other strength declines, shoulder range of motion, pain, pitching velocity, or spin rate. CONCLUSIONS Dynamic tape reduced direction-specific shoulder fatigue but did not significantly enhance pitching performance or prevent delayed onset muscle soreness. Abstract
Background The significance of studying Kinesiophobia, Limits of Stability (LOS), and functional balance in geriatric patients with CLBP and osteoporosis lies in their profound impact on rehabilitation outcomes and fall risk, ultimately affecting patients' quality of life. This study aimed to examine LOS and functional balance in the geriatric population concurrently experiencing Chronic Low Back Pain (CLBP) and osteoporosis, in comparison to age-matched healthy controls; to assess the correlations between Kinesiophobia, LOS, and functional balance assessments; and to evaluate the mediating influence of Kinesiophobia on the association between LOS and functional balance tests. Methods This cross-sectional study included a total of 86 participants in each group. Kinesiophobia was assessed using the Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK). LOS variables were evaluated with a computerized Iso-free platform in eight different directions. Functional balance was measured using the Timed Up and Go (TUG) test and the Berg Balance Scale (BBS). Results Patients with CLBP and osteoporosis showed significantly lower LOS percentages (45.78 ± 6.92) and impaired Functional Balance, reflected in a TUG Score (10.45 ± 2.23), compared to asymptomatic controls (LOS: 76.95 ± 8.21; TUG: 8.73 ± 1.90). Kinesiophobia showed a significant moderate negative correlation with LOS, indicated by r = -0.362 (p < 0.01). Additionally, Kinesiophobia was found to correlate with functional balance tests. Specifically, there was a moderate positive correlation with the TUG Score (r = 0.322, p < 0.01), indicating that higher Kinesiophobia is associated with slower TUG performance. Conversely, a stronger moderate negative correlation was observed with the Berg Balance Scale (BBS) Score (r = -0.436, p < 0.001), suggesting that increased Kinesiophobia is associated with lower BBS scores, indicating poorer balance performance. Mediation analysis revealed that Kinesiophobia significantly influences LOS and Functional Balance. For LOS and the TUG score, Kinesiophobia showed a direct effect (B = 0.24), an indirect effect (B = 0.09), and a total effect (B = 0.13). Similarly, for LOS and the BBS score, the direct effect of Kinesiophobia was B = 0.38, with an indirect effect of B = 0.10 and a total effect of B = 0.20. Conclusion This study underscores the substantial impact of Kinesiophobia on both stability and functional balance in individuals coping with CLBP and osteoporosis. The findings emphasize the clinical relevance of addressing Kinesiophobia as a potential target for interventions aimed at improving LOS and functional balance in this specific patient population.

Abstract
Background In 2020, 203 million people experienced neck pain, with a higher prevalence in women. By 2050, it is predicted that neck pain will affect 269 million people, representing a 32.5% increase. Physical rehabilitation is often employed for the treatment of chronic non-specific neck pain (CNSNP) and the associated functional loss. Taping is frequently used as an adjunct treatment alongside primary physical rehabilitation. Unlike kinesio tape (KT), the therapeutic benefits of dynamic tape (DT) have not been thoroughly explored and documented in non-athletic conditions. Therefore, the aim of this trial was to determine the effects of DT on pain, disability, and overall well-being in individuals experiencing CNSNP. Methods A prospective parallel-group active controlled trial was conducted at a single center, involving 136 patients with CNSNP, randomly allocated in a 1:1 ratio. The sham taping group (STC) received standard physiotherapy care (n = 67) alongside DT without tension, while the dynamic taping group (DTC) (n = 69) underwent standard cervical offloading technique with appropriate tension in addition to standard physiotherapy care. Demographic information and three patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), namely the Neck Disability Index (NDI), Visual Analogue Scale (VAS), and the World Health Organization-Five Well-Being Index (WHO-5), were collected for each participant at three time points (baseline, four weeks post-taping, and four weeks follow-up). Results At baseline, no significant differences were observed between the STC and DTC for any outcome measure. Notably, all three PROMs exhibited a significant improvement from baseline to four weeks post-intervention, with moderate to small effect sizes (NDI ηp2 = 0.21, VAS ηp2 = 0.23, and WHO-55 ηp2 = 0.05). The WHO-5 scores for both groups demonstrated improvement from baseline through follow-up (p < 0.001). The NDI and VAS scores ameliorated from baseline to the four weeks post-taping period, with marginal improvements observed during the four weeks follow-up. Conclusion The incorporation of DT as an adjunct to standard physiotherapy care yielded enhancements in pain levels, functional disability, and well-being among patients with CNSNP when compared to the sham group. However, the sustainability of these improvements beyond the taping period lacks statistical significance and warrants further validation.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pain is the most common reason for medical visits to primary health care practitioners. Pain self-management interventions are encouraged and there is no known self-management intervention framework available that clinicians and people with spinal cord injury (PWSCI) can use to guide treatment selection. AIM This study aimed to develop a pain self-management intervention framework for PWSCI. SETTING Online and facilitated in Gauteng, South Africa. METHODS A three-round modified e-Delphi method was used to reach an 80% consensus among a 21-expert panel. Fifty-nine interventions were distributed via REDCap and a final online audio meeting was held to either include or exclude interventions in the final framework. SPSS v27 was used to analyse descriptive data and content analysis was used for qualitative responses. RESULTS The final developed pain self-management framework consists of 56 interventions and includes interventions from multiple health professions to encompass medical, psychological, therapeutic and social interventions. Interventions are also specified for nociceptive and/or neuropathic pain and grouped according to the biopsychosocial model. CONCLUSION The interprofessional framework may be used as a guideline for PWSCI to alleviate pain, as well as assist health professionals in clinical decision-making, by providing them with the freedom to choose acceptable and adequate interventions that may be appropriate to treat the affected individual's pain.Contribution: Pain management is a basic need at the primary healthcare level and PWSCI need access to the broad range of interventions available to manage their pain. The framework highlights the variety of appropriate interventions to guide both health professionals and PWSCI with pain relief options.

Abstract
Lumbar spondylosis, characterized by degenerative changes in the lumbar spine, often leads to pain, reduced spinal stability, and musculoskeletal dysfunction. Understanding the impact of lumbar spondylosis on musculoskeletal function, particularly lumbar extensor endurance, functional balance, and limits of stability, is crucial for improving the management and well-being of affected individuals. This study aimed to assess lumbar extensor endurance, functional balance, and limits of stability in individuals with lumbar spondylosis compared to age-matched healthy individuals and explore the correlations among these parameters within the lumbar spondylosis group. The lumbar spondylosis group consisted of 60 individuals initially screened by an orthopedician and referred to physical therapy. Age-matched healthy controls (n = 60) were recruited. Inclusion criteria encompassed adults aged 45-70 years for both groups. Lumbar extensor endurance was assessed using the Sorensen test, functional balance with the Berg Balance Scale, and limits of stability using a computerized stabilometric force platform. Lumbar extensor endurance was significantly lower in individuals with lumbar spondylosis compared to healthy controls (23.06 s vs. 52.45 s, p < 0.001). Functional balance, as assessed by the Berg Balance Scale, demonstrated a significant decrement in the lumbar spondylosis group (48.36 vs. 53.34, p < 0.001). Additionally, limits of stability variables, under both eyes-open and eyes-closed conditions, exhibited marked impairments in the lumbar spondylosis group (p < 0.001 for all variables). Within the lumbar spondylosis group, lumbar extensor endurance exhibited significant positive correlations with functional balance (0.46, p < 0.001) and negative correlations with limits of stability variables (r ranging from -0.38 to -0.49, p < 0.01 for all variables). This study underscores the significance of addressing lumbar extensor endurance, functional balance, and stability impairments in the comprehensive management of lumbar spondylosis.

Abstract
This study examined the immediate effects of multidirectional elastic tape (MET) on passive ankle joint torque in healthy adults. A randomised crossover trial evaluated four tape conditions (no-tape-NT, low-tension-LT, medium-tension-MT, and high-tension-HT) at two angular speeds on peak dorsiflexion torque, low- (stiffness 1) and high-torque stiffness (stiffness 2), area under the loading curve (AUC) and hysteresis. Twenty-two adults completed the study (17 females; mean (SD): age 26.0 (6.9) years, height 1.7 (0.1) m, body mass 71.1 (20.2) kg. There was no significant condition-by-speed interaction for any ankle torque variable. There was a significant main effect of condition on peak dorsiflexion torque, stiffness 1, and AUC, but not stiffness 2 or hysteresis. Post-hoc tests revealed that peak dorsiflexion torque, stiffness 1 and AUC were significantly lower in the NT condition, compared to the three taped conditions, and between the LT and HT conditions, though the effect sizes were considered small. MET applied with increasing levels of pre-tension, led to a small and incremental increase in stretch resistance and elastic energy stored (range 5.5% to 12.5%) during passive ankle dorsiflexion. Importantly, effect sizes were small and may not translate to measurable improvements in muscle-tendon unit performance during dynamic exercise.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Evaluate the Kinesio taping (KT) effects on reducing pain and edema on postoperative (PO) after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction. DESIGN Controlled and randomized clinical study. SETTINGS Individuals of both sexes, aged 18-45, underwent ACL reconstruction were randomized into intervention (IG; n = 19) and control (CG; n = 19) groups. METHODS Intervention consisted of KT bandage applications at hospital discharge for seven days, and on the 7th PO day, which was removed on the 14th PO. CG received specific instructions from the physiotherapy service. All volunteers were evaluations before and immediately after surgery, on the 7th and 14th PO day. Pain threshold (KgF), evaluated by algometer; edema (cm), evaluated by the perimetry measurements and volume of the lower limbs and the truncated cone test (ml) were the evaluated variables. The Student's t-test and Mann-Whitney U test were used to evaluate intergroup, analysis of variance (ANOVA) and Dunnett's test to evaluate intragroup. RESULTS Edema reduction and increased nociceptive threshold were significant in the 7th (p < 0.001; p = 0.003) and 14th (p < 0.001; p = 0.006) PO day in IG when compared to CG patients. IG perimetry levels, on the 7th and 14th PO were similar to preoperative period (p = 0.229; p = 1.000). IG nociceptive threshold value was similar on the 14th PO to before the surgery (p = 0.987). The same pattern did not occur in CG. CONCLUSION KT treatment reduced edema and increased nociceptive threshold in the 7th and 14th PO ACL reconstruction.

Abstract
(1) Background: Fear of movement (kinesiophobia) and impaired lumbar joint position sense (LJPS) play a vital role in developing and maintaining non-specific chronic low back pain (CLBP). However, how kinesiophobia impacts LJPS is still being determined. The aims of this study are to (1) assess the correlation between kinesiophobia and LJPS in individuals with chronic low back pain; (2) compare LJPS between individuals with CLBP and those who are asymptomatic; and (3) evaluate if pain can mediate the relationship between kinesiophobia and LJPS in CLBP individuals. (2) Methods: Eighty-three individuals (mean age = 48.9 ± 7.5 years) with a diagnosis of CLBP and 95 asymptomatic individuals (mean age = 49.4 ± 7.0 years) were recruited into this cross-sectional study. Fear of movement in CLBP individuals was assessed using the Tampa Scale for Kinesiophobia (TSK). LJPS was determined using the active target repositioning technique using a dual-digital inclinometer. LJPS was evaluated in lumbar flexion, extension, and side-bending left and right directions, and the repositioning accuracy was determined in degrees using a dual digital inclinometer. (3) Results: Kinesiophobia showed a significant (p < 0.001) moderate positive correlation with LJPS (flexion: r = 0.51, extension: r = 0.41, side-bending left: r = 0.37 and side-bending right: r = 0.34). LJPS errors were larger in CLBP individuals compared to asymptomatic individuals (p < 0.05). Mediation analyses showed that pain significantly mediated the relationship between kinesiophobia and LJPS (p < 0.05) in CLBP individuals. (4) Conclusions: Kinesiophobia and LJPS were positively associated. LJPS is impaired in CLBP individuals compared to asymptomatic individuals. Pain may mediate adverse effects on LJPS. These factors must be taken into account when assessing and developing treatment plans for those with CLBP.

Abstract
Background: Individuals with fibromyalgia syndrome (FM) usually present with a fear of movement (kinesiophobia), which causes their symptoms to be maintained and exacerbated. Kinesiophobia can significantly impact postural control; ascertaining their association is crucial in evaluating and managing individuals with FM. This study aims to (1) compare postural control between individuals with FM and asymptomatic individuals, (2) estimate the relationship between kinesiophobia and postural control in individuals with FM, and (3) evaluate whether pain intensity mediates the association between kinesiophobia and postural control in individuals with FM. Methods: This study enrolled 92 individuals (mean age: 51.52 ± 7.7 years) diagnosed with FM and 106 asymptomatic individuals (mean age: 50.47 ± 6.6 years). The examiners estimated the fear of movement and the intensity of pain utilizing the Tampa scale of kinesiophobia (TSK) scores and the visual analogue scale (VAS), respectively. The postural control variables included anteroposterior (A-P) sway in mm, medio-lateral (M-L) sway in mm, and ellipse area in mm2. Results: The individuals with FM had impaired postural control compared to the asymptomatic individuals (p < 0.001). Kinesiophobia exhibited mild-to-moderate correlations with the postural control variables (nondominant side: A-P sway: r = 0.48, M-L sway: r = 0.49, ellipse area: r = 0.43. Dominant side: A-P sway: r = 0.41, M-L sway: r = 0.33, ellipse area: r = 0.44). The pain intensity significantly mediated the relationship between kinesiophobia and postural control (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Kinesiophobia showed a significant positive relationship with postural control. The individuals with FM with higher TSK scores had decreased postural control. Pain intensity mediated the relationship between kinesiophobia and postural control. These factors must be considered when evaluating and formulating treatment strategies for people with FM.

Abstract
Objectives: Low back pain is a common condition that can become chronic, which reduces the life quality of the patient by causing functional disability and depression. This study aimed to investigate the effects of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilisation (IASTM) and kinesiology taping (KT) along with conservative treatment in patients with chronic nonspecific low back pain.
Patients and methods: A total of 30 patients (22 males, 8 females; mean age IASTM = 37.3 ± 7.1 years, KT = 37.3 ± 6.6 years; range, 30–50 years) with chronic nonspecific low back pain (CNLBP) were randomised into the IASTM (n = 15) and KT (n = 15) groups. Both the groups underwent conservative treatment that comprised of a hot pack, ultrasound, transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation and home exercises. The pain level was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale, the functional impairment level was assessed using the Roland Morris Disability Questionnaire and the level of depression was measured using the Beck Depression Inventory. The measurements were carried out at the beginning and end of the treatment.
Results: The two methods did not have superiority over each other in parameters like pain, functionality and depression (p>0.05).
Conclusion: IASTM and KT have therapeutic effects on pain, functionality and depression in patients with CNLBP.

Abstract
Background Knee osteoarthritis (KOA) is a painful degenerative joint disease that may limit activities of daily living. This study aimed to determine the relationship between quadriceps endurance and knee joint position sense (JPS) in KOA individuals and compare the quadriceps endurance and knee JPS with and without KOA. Methods This comparative cross-sectional study was conducted in medical rehabilitation clinics, King Khalid University, Saudi Arabia. This study recruited 50 individuals diagnosed with unilateral KOA (mean age = 67.10 ± 4.36 years) and 50 asymptomatic individuals (mean age = 66.50 ± 3.63 years). Quadriceps isometric endurance capacity (sec) was measured using a fatigue resistance test, and knee JPS (degrees) were assessed using a digital inclinometer and evaluated in sitting and standing positions. Results Quadriceps isometric endurance showed a significant moderate negative correlation with knee JPS in 20° of flexion (r = -0.48, p < 0.001); 40° of flexion: r = -0.62, p < 0.001; 60° of flexion: r = -0.58, p < 0.001) in sitting and 20° of flexion (r = -0.25, p = 0.084) in standing position in KOA individuals. When compared to the asymptomatic, the quadriceps endurance was lower (p < 0.001), and knee joint position errors were larger (p < 0.001) in KOA individuals. Conclusion Results of this study showed that quadriceps endurance capacity is negatively associated with knee JPS. KOA individuals demonstrated lower quadriceps endurance and larger JPS compared to asymptomatic.

Abstract
Functional ankle instability (FAI) is a condition that causes mechanical alterations to the ankle joint and leads to disability. Fear of movement can significantly influence physical factors, and understanding their relationship is crucial in assessing and managing individuals with FAI. The present study aimed to (1) assess the impact of kinesiophobia on ankle joint position sense (JPS) and postural control and (2) evaluate if kinesiophobia can predict JPS and postural control in FAI individuals. This cross-sectional study included 55 FAI individuals. The Tampa Scale of Kinesiophobia (TSK) score was used to measure kinesiophobia. The ankle JPS was evaluated using a digital inclinometer. The individuals were asked to actively reposition to the target position of 10° and 15° of dorsiflexion and plantarflexion. The reposition accuracy is measured in degrees. The static postural control was evaluated in unilateral stance using a stabilometric force platform, including assessments for the ellipse area, anterior to posterior sway, and medial to lateral sway in mm2. Kinesiophobia showed a significant positive correlation (moderate) with the ankle JPS errors in dorsiflexion (10°: r = 0.51, p < 0.001; at 15°: = r = 0.52, p < 0.001) and plantarflexion (10°: r = 0.35, p = 0.009; at 15°: = r = 0.37, p = 0.005). Kinesiophobia also showed significant positive (moderate) correlation with postural control variables (ellipse area: r = 0.44, p = 0.001; Anterior−Posterior sway: r = 0.32, p = 0.015; Medial−Lateral sway: r = 0.60, p < 0.001). Kinesiophobia significantly predicted ankle JPS (p < 0.05) and postural control (p < 0.05). Increased fear of movement is associated with increased ankle JPS errors and postural sway in FAI individuals. Therefore, assessment of these factors is critical in FAI individuals.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Pregnancy-related low back pain (PLBP) affects the daily living activities of pregnant women, even leading to fetal agitation and threatened abortion. Kinesio taping (KT) can improve the circulation of blood and provide elastic supports, which is a reliable method to treat low back pain. At present, although many studies have been published on the effects of KT on PLBP, the results are inconsistent, and some studies even report that KT does not affect PLBP. there is still a lack of high-level clinical evidence for the treatment of PLBP with KT. Therefore, this study proposes a protocol for a systematic review and meta-analysis of published Randomized Controlled Trials (RCTs) to evaluate the efficacy and safety of KT for PLBP. METHODS This protocol is guided by the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Protocols. We will search the following database sources of the RCTs: PubMed, the Cochrane Library, EMBASE, Web of Science, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database (CBM), Chinese National Knowledge Infrastructure Database (CNKI), Chinese Science, and the Wanfang Database. From the establishment of the database to April 2021. The retrieval word adopts the combination of theme words and free words. Take "Kinesiotape, Tape Athletic, Orthotic Tape, Athletic Tape, Pregnancy, Pregnancies, Gestation, low back pain" as a term for retrieval. Two independent investigators will conduct an electronic literature search, study selection, data extraction, and quality assessment to summarize and evaluate the efficacy of KT in the treatment of PLBP. Retrospective trials are not included, and the risk of bias will be assessed using the Cochrane bias risk tool. All data analysis will be conducted using Revman5.3 software. RESULTS Quality outcomes in systematic review studies depend on inclusion and search criteria to obtain high-quality data, as well as how the data are processed and interpreted. Among the results, this study will objectively and comprehensively evaluate the efficacy and safety of the randomized controlled trial of KT in the treatment of PLBP, and make a detailed analysis of the effect of KT in the treatment of PLBP. The results will be analyzed by the Visual Analogue Scale of Pain and the Roland Morris Dysfunction Questionnaire. If applicable, a subgroup analysis will also be performed, which will be grouped according to the duration of pregnancy, grade of pain, etc. Finally, the results are submitted to a peer-reviewed journal for publication. CONCLUSION Based on the results, this study will analyze and summarize the effect of KT on improving PLBP. It includes whether KT can improve the pain and lumbar function of PLBP, or it has adverse effects and reactions on pregnant women, then analysis and interpretation of other related issues. It is expected that the results of this study will provide a reference to the method and time of taping for clinical staff, as well as high-quality evidence to resolve the effect of KT on low back pain and provide corresponding guidance for pregnant women with low back pain. Abstract
BACKGROUND Low back pain during pregnancy affects the normal daily activities of pregnant women to a certain extent. Current studies have shown that Kinesio Taping (KT) may be a treatment for low back pain during pregnancy, but there is still a lack of key evidence. The purpose of this study is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of KT in the treatment of low back pain during pregnancy. METHODS PubMed, Web of Science, The Cochrane Library, Scopus, Embase, Wanfang Data, CNKI, and VIP databases were searched to collect randomized controlled trials (RCTs) of the efficacy of KT intervention on low back pain in women during pregnancy. The retrieval time limit is from the establishment of the database to April 2021. Two researchers independently screened the literature, extracted the data, and evaluated the risk of bias in the included studies. Meta-analysis was performed using RevMan5.3 software. RESULTS A total of 7 RCTs were included, including 444 patients. Meta-analysis results showed that: Compared with the control group, KT intervention could significantly improve low back pain and dysfunction, VAS score (- 1.62, 95%CI - 2.08 to - 1.16, P < 0.00001, I2 = 77%), RMDQ score (- 1.00, 95%CI - 1.54 to - 0.46, P = 0.0003, I2 = 80%); The results of the meta-analysis of the subgroup showed that compared with the control group, the KT intervention was less than or equal to 1 week, and the waist pain and dysfunction were improved, with statistically significant differences. The difference in the improvement of low back pain was statistically significant after KT intervention for more than 1 week, but there was no statistically significant difference in RMDQ score (- 1.25, 95%CI - 2.66 to 0.15, P = 0.08, I2 =77%). Compared with the control group, KT intervention improved low back pain in the second and third trimesters, and the difference was statistically significant. CONCLUSION KT has a positive effect on the improvement of low back pain during pregnancy, KT intervention can significantly improve pregnant women's low back pain and dysfunction problems, improve the quality of life. It is suggested that future research should focus on the prevention and treatment of low back pain during pregnancy to provide more research data for improving women's health.
