Abstract
BACKGROUND Borderline personality disorder (BPD) is a severe mental illness, with high rates of co-morbid depression and suicidality. Despite the importance of optimizing treatment in BPD, little is known about how neural processes relate to individual treatment response. This study examines how baseline regional brain blood oxygen level dependent (BOLD) activation during a functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) task of emotion regulation is related to treatment response following a six-month randomized clinical trial of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) or Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) treatment. METHODS Unmedicated females with BPD (N = 37), with recent suicidal behavior or self-injury, underwent an fMRI task in which negative personal memories were presented and they were asked to distance (i.e., downregulate their emotional response) or immerse (i.e., experience emotions freely). Patients were then randomized to DBT (N = 16) or SSRI (N = 21) treatment, with baseline and post-treatment depression and BPD severity assessed. RESULTS BOLD activity in prefrontal cortex, anterior cingulate, and insula was associated with distancing. Baseline BOLD during distancing in dorsolateral, ventrolateral, and orbital prefrontal cortex (dlPFC, vlPFC, OFC) differentially predicted depression response across treatment groups, with higher activity predicting better response in the SSRI group, and lower activity predicting better response in the DBT group. LIMITATIONS All female samples. DISCUSSION Findings indicate that greater prefrontal engagement during emotion regulation may predict more antidepressant benefit from SSRIs, whereas lower engagement may predict better response to DBT. These results suggest different mechanisms of action for SSRI and DBT treatment, and this may allow fMRI to guide individualized treatment selection.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Functional connectivity has garnered interest as a potential biomarker of psychiatric disorders including borderline personality disorder (BPD). However, small sample sizes and lack of within-study replications have led to divergent findings with no clear spatial foci. AIMS Evaluate discriminative performance and generalizability of functional connectivity markers for BPD. METHOD Whole-brain fMRI resting state functional connectivity in matched subsamples of 116 BPD and 72 control individuals defined by three grouping strategies. We predicted BPD status using classifiers with repeated cross-validation based on multiscale functional connectivity within and between regions of interest (ROIs) covering the whole brain-global ROI-based network, seed-based ROI-connectivity, functional consistency, and voxel-to-voxel connectivity-and evaluated the generalizability of the classification in the left-out portion of non-matched data. RESULTS Full-brain connectivity allowed classification (∼70 %) of BPD patients vs. controls in matched inner cross-validation. The classification remained significant when applied to unmatched out-of-sample data (∼61-70 %). Highest seed-based accuracies were in a similar range to global accuracies (∼70-75 %), but spatially more specific. The most discriminative seed regions included midline, temporal and somatomotor regions. Univariate connectivity values were not predictive of BPD after multiple comparison corrections, but weak local effects coincided with the most discriminative seed-ROIs. Highest accuracies were achieved with a full clinical interview while self-report results remained at chance level. LIMITATIONS The accuracies vary considerably between random sub-samples of the population, global signal and covariates limiting the practical applicability. CONCLUSIONS Spatially distributed functional connectivity patterns are moderately predictive of BPD despite heterogeneity of the patient population.

Abstract
Specialized psychotherapeutic treatments like dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) are recommended as first treatment for borderline personality disorder (BPD). In recent years, studies have emerged that focus on repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation (rTMS) in BPD. Both have independently demonstrated efficacy in the treatment of BPD. Intermitted theta burst stimulation (iTBS), a modified design of rTMS, is thought to increase the excitability of neurons and could be a supplement to psychotherapy in addition to being a standalone treatment. However, no studies to date have investigated the combination of DBT and rTMS/iTBS. This study protocol describes the methods and design of a randomized, single-blinded, sham-controlled clinical pilot study in which BPD patients will be randomly assigned to either iTBS or sham during four consecutive weeks (20 sessions in total) in addition to standardized DBT treatment. The stimulation will focus on the unilateral stimulation of the left dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), which plays an important role in the control of impulsivity and risk-taking. Primary outcome is the difference in borderline symptomatology, while secondary target criteria are depressive symptoms, general functional level, impulsivity and self-compassion. Statistical analysis of therapy response will be conducted by Mixed Model Repeated Measurement using a 2 × 2-factorial between-subjects design with the between-subject factor stimulation (TMS vs. Sham) and the within-subject factor time (T0 vs. T1). Furthermore, structural magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) will be conducted and analyzed. The study will provide evidence and insight on whether iTBS has an enhancing effect as add-on to DBT in BPD.Trial registration: drks.de (DRKS00020413) registered 13/01/2020.

Abstract
Given the enormous influence of emotions on cognitive processes, individuals with borderline personality disorder (BPD) suffer from marked deficits in higher-order thinking abilities. Considering the prevalence of BPD among college students, this study aimed to investigate the changes in perceived executive functioning among college students with traits/presence of BPD undergoing internet-delivered dialectical behavior therapy skills training (DBT-ST) that included the mindfulness and emotion regulation modules. An internet-delivered version of DBT-ST was opted for, as technological advancements in the present era promote the use of online platforms for psychotherapy. This non-randomized controlled trial consisted of 36 college students with traits/presence of BPD. The intervention group attended 13 sessions of DBT-ST, and the control group attended 13 sessions of behavioral activation. Perceived executive functioning was assessed using the Behavior Rating Inventory of Executive Functions for Adults. A 2-way repeated measures analysis of variance was used to evaluate the treatment impact on the outcome variable. Results showed that the DBT-ST group had larger improvements in their abilities to initiate, plan, and organize current and future-oriented task demands and to organize their everyday environment, compared to the control group. Both, the DBT-ST group and the control group demonstrated improvements in emotional control, working memory, and their abilities to shift and task monitor. Findings suggest that the internet-delivered version of DBT-ST, consisting of the mindfulness and emotion regulation modules, can foster notable improvements in executive functions among college students with traits/presence of BPD. Improved executive functioning is one of the several multifaceted outcomes of dialectical behavior therapy.

Abstract
As a social and public health concern, loneliness is associated with an abundance of negative life outcomes such as depressive symptomatology, mortality, and sleep disturbance. Nevertheless, the neural basis underlying loneliness remains elusive; in addition, previous neuroimaging studies about loneliness mainly focused on the elderly and were limited by small sample sizes. Here, utilizing the voxel-based morphometry (VBM) approach via structural magnetic resonance imaging, we investigated the association between brain GMV and loneliness in 462 young adults (67.7% females, age = 18.59 ± 1.14 years). Results from whole-brain VBM analyses revealed that individuals with higher loneliness tended to have greater GMV in the right dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (DLPFC), which was thought to be associated with emotional regulation deficits and executive dysfunction. Importantly, the GMV-based predictive models (a machine-learning method) demonstrated that the correlation between loneliness and GMV in the DLPFC was robust. Further, interpersonal self-support traits (ISS), a Chinese indigenous personality construct and pivotal personality factor for resisting negative life outcomes, mediated the relationship between the GMV in the right DLPFC and loneliness. Taken together, the present study reveals that the GMV in right DLPFC acts as an underlying neurostructural correlate of loneliness in the healthy brain, and further provides a brain-personality-symptom pathway for protection against loneliness in which GMV of DLPFC affects loneliness through ISS traits. Future intervention procedures aiming to decrease loneliness and enhance mental health levels among young adults should be developed through improving interpersonal relationships such as social skills training.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES To elucidate the relationship between the course of bipolar disorder (BD) and structural brain changes across the life span, we conducted a systematic review of longitudinal imaging studies in adolescent and adult BD patients. METHODS Eleven studies with 329 BD patients and 277 controls met our PICOS criteria (participants, intervention, comparison, outcome and study design): BD diagnosis based on DSM criteria, natural course of disease, comparison of grey matter changes in BD individuals over ≥1-year interval between scans. RESULTS The selected studies yielded heterogeneous findings, partly due to varying patient characteristics, data acquisition and statistical models. Mood episodes were associated with greater grey matter loss in frontal brain regions over time. Brain volume decreased or remained stable in adolescent patients, whereas it increased in healthy adolescents. Adult BD patients showed increased cortical thinning and brain structural decline. In particular, disease onset in adolescence was associated with amygdala volume reduction, which was not reported in adult BD. CONCLUSIONS The evidence collected suggests that the progression of BD impairs adolescent brain development and accelerates structural brain decline across the lifespan. Age-specific changes in amygdala volume in adolescent BD suggest that reduced amygdala volume is a correlate of early onset BD. Clarifying the role of BD in brain development across the lifespan promises a deeper understanding of the progression of BD patients through different developmental episodes.

Abstract
Dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) has been found to be an efficacious treatment for disorders characterized by high levels of emotional instability. In view of the multifaceted applications of DBT and the extent to which mental disorders can incapacitate cognitive functions, the current systematic review aimed to investigate the effect of DBT in strengthening cognitive functions across various mental health conditions. Original research studies employing both experimental and quasi-experimental designs were included in the review. The literature search was done using different electronic databases, from the first available literature until June 2022, that covered an approximate period of ten years. Joanna Briggs Institute checklist was used to assess the methodological rigor of the studies. Twelve studies conducted on adolescents with emotional dysregulation, and adults with borderline personality disorder, bipolar disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, and multiple sclerosis were selected. Results indicate that DBT has the potential to improve key cognitive functions such as attention, memory, fluency, response inhibition, planning, set shifting, tolerance for delayed rewards and time perception, as assessed by neuropsychological tests, self-report of cognitive functions, and neuroimaging techniques. Considering the review's findings that showcase the effectiveness of DBT in fostering improvements in cognitive functions, DBT may possibly be chosen as a preferred treatment to ensure that patients reach optimal levels of cognitive functioning. Limitations include lack of sufficient studies encompassing all the common mental health conditions, usage of neuroimaging techniques as only an indirect measure of cognitive functioning and nuances related to the quality of individual studies.

Abstract
In this article we criticize the thesis "The diseases we treat are diseases of the brain". A first criticism is against the eliminativist perspective and in favor of a perspective that is still reductionist but emergentist and functionalist. In a second part, we try to answer the question "under which conditions can we consider this statement legitimate?". We argue that only those mental disorders whose neural substrate has clearly neuropathological characteristics, i.e., anomalies with respect to the laws of good neural functioning, can be considered "brain diseases." We propose that it is not sufficient to observe a simple difference between the brains of people with psychopathology, that is, with anomalies with respect to the laws of good psychological functioning, and that of people without psychopathology. Indeed, we believe it is a categorical error to postulate a neuropathology starting from a psychopathology. Finally, we summarize some research that shows how purely psychological interventions can reduce or eliminate the differences between the brains of people with or psychopathology and those of people without.

Abstract
BackgroundPosttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is associated with numerous cognitive, affective, and psychophysiological outcomes, including problems with sleep and circadian rhythms. We tested the effectiveness of a daily morning blue-light exposure treatment (BLT) versus a matched amber light treatment (ALT) to regulate sleep in individuals diagnosed with PTSD. Moreover, PTSD is also associated with reliable findings on structural neuroimaging scans, including reduced amygdala volumes and other differences in cortical gray matter volume (GMV) that may be indicative of underlying neurobehavioral dysfunctions. We examined the effect of BLT versus ALT on GMV and its association with sleep outcomes.MethodsSeventy-six individuals (25 male; 51 female) meeting DSM-V criteria for PTSD (Age = 31.45 years, SD = 8.83) completed sleep assessments and structural neuroimaging scans, followed by random assignment one of two light groups, including BLT (469 nm; n = 39) or placebo ALT (578 nm; n = 37) light therapy daily for 30-min over 6-weeks. Participants wore a wrist actigraph for the duration of the study. After treatment, participants returned to complete sleep assessments and a structural neuroimaging scan. Neuroimaging data were analyzed using the Computational Anatomy Toolbox (CAT12) and Voxel-Based Morphometry (VBM) modules within the Statistical Parametric Mapping (SPM12) software.ResultsThe BLT condition produced significant increases in total time in bed and total sleep time from actigraphy compared to the ALT condition, while ALT improved wake after sleep onset and sleep efficiency compared to BLT. Additionally, BLT led to an increase in left amygdala volume compared to ALT but did not affect hypothesized medial prefrontal regions. Finally, within group correlations showed that improvements in sleep quality and nightmare severity were correlated with increases in left amygdala volume over the course of treatment for the BLT group but not the ALT group.ConclusionIn individuals with PTSD, daily exposure to morning blue light treatment was associated with improvements in objective sleep duration and increased volume of the left amygdala compared to amber placebo light treatment, and changes in amygdala volume correlated with subjective improvement in sleep. These findings suggest that daily morning BLT may provide an important non-pharmacologic adjunctive approach for facilitating sleep and neurobehavioral recovery from PTSD.

Abstract
PURPOSE Adults with bulimia nervosa (BN) and co-occurring emotional dysregulation and multiple impulsive behaviors are less responsive to existing interventions. Initial data suggest that the combination of Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and a mood stabilizer, lamotrigine, significantly reduces symptoms of affective and behavioral dysregulation in these patients. Identifying candidate neurobiological mechanisms of change for this novel treatment combination may help guide future randomized controlled trials and inform new and targeted treatment development. Here, we examined neurocognitive and symptom changes in a female patient with BN and severe affective and behavioral dysregulation who received DBT and lamotrigine. METHODS Go/no-go task performance data and resting-state functional MRI scans were acquired before the initiation of lamotrigine (after 6 weeks in an intensive DBT program), and again after reaching and maintaining a stable dose of lamotrigine. The patient completed a battery of symptom measures biweekly for 18 weeks over the course of treatment. RESULTS After lamotrigine initiation, the patient made fewer errors on a response inhibition task and showed increased and new connectivity within frontoparietal and frontolimbic networks involved in behavioral and affective control. Accompanying this symptom improvement, the patient reported marked reductions in bulimic symptoms, behavioral dysregulation, and reactivity to negative affect, along with increases in DBT skills use. CONCLUSION Improved response inhibition and cognitive control network connectivity should be further investigated as neurocognitive mechanisms of change with combined DBT and lamotrigine for eating disorders. Longitudinal, controlled trials integrating neuroimaging and symptom measures are needed to fully evaluate the effects of this treatment. Abstract
OBJECTIVE Previous imaging studies in patients with borderline personality disorder (BPD) have detected functional brain dysfunctions. Mindfulness training may improve the symptoms of BPD, although the neural mechanisms involved remain poorly understood. This study had several key aims: a) to investigate the role of right anterior insula (rAI) functional connectivity in modulating baseline emotional status in BPD, b) to compare differences in connectivity changes after mindfulness training versus interpersonal effectiveness intervention, and c) to explore the correlation between longitudinal changes in imaging data and clinical indicators. METHODS Thirty-eight patients with BPD underwent resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging. Participants completed self-report clinical scales and participated in a dialectical-behavioral therapy (mindfulness versus interpersonal effectiveness modules). Changes in clinical and imaging variables were evaluated longitudinally after completion of the first 10-week sessions of psychotherapeutic intervention. RESULTS At baseline, the rAI was strongly connected with the other salience network nodes and anticorrelated with most core nodes of the default mode network (p < .05, corrected). The functional connectivity of the rAI correlated with emotional dysregulation and deficits in mindfulness capacities (p < .05, corrected). After completion of psychotherapeutic intervention, both groups (mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness) showed divergent posttherapy functional connectivity changes, which were in turn associated with the clinical response. CONCLUSIONS The functional connectivity of the rAI seems to play an important role in emotion dysregulation and deficits in mindfulness capacities in individuals with BPD. Psychotherapy seems to modulate this functional connectivity, leading to beneficial changes in clinical variables.

Abstract
Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is associated with emotion dysregulation. The emotion regulation strategies people adopt may depend on one's belief about emotion as either fixed or changeable (termed "implicit theory"). We test this experimentally by modifying beliefs about emotions using virtual reality (VR). A sample of 29 adolescents (ages 14-17 years) were recruited from two adolescent inpatient units for an uncontrolled pilot trial of a new brief intervention. We measured BPD traits, beliefs about emotion, treatment preference, cognitive reappraisal and rumination, before the VR game and 14-31 days later. Adolescents with higher levels of BPD traits endorsed fixed beliefs of emotion and reported higher levels of rumination and lower levels of cognitive reappraisal. After a one-time message delivered via VR, adolescents evidenced an increase in belief that their emotions were changeable. These findings suggest beliefs about emotions may have an important role in interventions for adolescents with BPD traits.

Abstract
Although previous imaging studies in borderline personality disorder (BPD) have found brain abnormalities, the results have been inconsistent. This study aimed to investigate structural brain abnormalities using voxel-based morphometry (VBM) and cortical thickness (Cth) analyses in a large sample of patients with BPD. Additionally, we aimed to determine the correlation between structural abnormalities and clinical severity and to assess its potential value at predicting psychotherapeutic response. Sixty-one individuals with BPD and 19 healthy controls underwent magnetic resonance imaging. Participants with BPD completed several self-report clinical scales, received dialectical-behavioral therapy skills training and post-therapy changes in clinical scores were also recorded. Gray matter volume (GMV) and Cth differences between groups were compared. Within the BPD group, we further characterized the structural brain correlates of clinical severity and investigated the relationship between pre-therapy structural abnormalities and therapeutic response. As potential confounders we included age, sex, educational level, and total intracranial volume (the latter only in VBM analyses). Compared to controls, the BPD group showed a reduced GMV/Cth in prefrontal areas but increased GMV in the limbic structures (amygdala and parahippocampal regions). Prefrontal abnormalities correlated with higher baseline scores on impulsivity and general BPD severity. Increased GMV in the parahippocampal area correlated with a greater emotion dysregulation. Importantly, several baseline structural abnormalities correlated with worse response to psychotherapy. Patients with BPD showed a reduced GMV in the prefrontal areas but a greater GMV in the limbic structures. Several structural abnormalities (i.e. middle and inferior prefrontal areas, anterior insula, or parahippocampal area) correlated with clinical severity and could potentially be used as imaging biological correlates biomarkers to predict psychotherapy response.

Abstract
The biological component of the biosocial theory of emotion regulation stipulates that borderline personality disorder (BPD) arises from biological vulnerabilities to heightened emotional reactivity. Comprehensive reviews have consistently implicated abnormalities in the amygdala, anterior cingulate cortex, and hippocampus in the neurobiology of BPD. While Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is the leading evidence-based psychotherapy for the treatment of BPD, there remains a paucity of literature examining changes in the neurobiology of BPD following DBT treatment. Nine studies were identified that examined neurobiological changes in BPD after the completion of DBT. Results indicated that there was significant deactivation of amygdala activity as well as the anterior cingulate cortex in patients with BPD after DBT treatment. As well, several studies found after DBT treatment, BPD patients had a decreased activity in the inferior frontal gyrus in response to arousing stimuli and increased activity in response to inhibitory control. Future research on the neurobiological change after DBT treatment can help clarify biological mechanisms of change in BPD.

Abstract
The individual difference in valuing immediate and future outcomes is referred to as consideration of future consequences (CFC, including CFC-Future [CFC-F] and CFC-Immediate [CFC-I]), which significantly influences daily behaviour. Although CFC is believed to be affected by brain features and personalities, the relational model of brain correlates, personalities and CFC has yet to be determined. This study was designed to explore the brain structure related to CFC-F and CFC-I and the mediating role of conscientiousness. We adopted a voxel-based morphometry study and used grey matter density (GMD) as an indication of brain structure. The results showed that GMD in the ventromedial prefrontal cortex (VMPFC) was positively associated with CFC-F; however, we did not find relevant regions affecting CFC-I. Furthermore, conscientiousness was found to mediate the relationship between GMD in the VMPFC and CFC-F. This study provides initial evidence concerning the neural basis of CFC-F and argues that the features of brain structure could be associated with CFC-F through related high-order personality traits. Additionally, the distinction between CFC-F and CFC-I may be based on differences in brain structure.

Abstract
Psychotherapy has been proven to be effective; however, this statement applies in particular to the "average patient" in randomized controlled trials. As a considerable proportion of patients do not show any benefits despite the constant development of new therapy methods and the mechanisms of action are still too little understood, innovative psychotherapy research has to address both problems. In addition, the idea of personalization that originated in somatic medicine or - from our point of view more appropriately - individualization or person-centering should be taken up. After providing an overview of further developments in psychotherapy beyond disorder-specific methods, this article presents an evidence- and process-based individualized and modular psychotherapy as a visionary goal of psychotherapeutic research: Beyond syndromes and disorders, as many biopsychosocial characteristics as possible and the processes and mechanisms underlying the mental problems should be analyzed and bundled in an individual comprehensive functional analysis. Based on this functional analysis, evidence-based techniques and modules should be selected. The individual response during the course of therapy should be continuously documented, so that feedback helps to determine the further therapeutic procedure. In order to pursue this vision, studies are needed that are oriented towards the individual patient, investigate the central mechanisms of action and generate large translational datasets. These should be analyzed by ideographic analyses and reduce the gap between research and practice, thus contributing to the paradigm of a practice research network, which is now consistently moving to the centre of research.

BACKGROUND There are now several scientifically evaluated psychotherapeutic methods for borderline personality disorder (BPD), all of which aim to improve the ability to regulate emotions. In recent years, there have been first studies on the neuronal correlates of the mechanisms of emotion regulation and of changes caused by psychotherapeutic interventions. METHODS This article reviews the data on functional and structural imaging studies that examine facets of disturbed emotion regulation before and after psychotherapy. RESULTS Although the overall database is still sparse, clinical improvement in psychotherapy appears to be associated with modulation of brain structure and function. Frontolimbic regulation circuits including the amygdala, insula, anterior cingulate cortex (ACC) and other prefrontal areas appear to be involved in these changes. An important finding is the reduction of initially increased amygdala activity after successful Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). CONCLUSION The changes shown here most probably reflect an improvement in emotion regulation capacities in BPD and demonstrate the possibility of modulating disturbed emotion regulation processes. Since long-term follow-up data are still missing, the sustainability of the suggestive improvements still has to be proven in further studies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD) is a complex and debilitating disorder, characterized by deficits in metacognition and emotion dysregulation. The "gold standard" treatment for this disorder is psychotherapy with pharmacotherapy as an adjunctive treatment to target state symptoms. The present randomized clinical trial aims to assess the clinical and neurobiological changes following Metacognitive Interpersonal Therapy (MIT) compared with Structured Clinical Management (SCM) derived from specific recommendations in APA (American Psychiatric Association) guidelines for BPD. METHODS The study design is a randomized parallel controlled clinical trial and will include 80 BPD outpatients, aged 18-45 enrolled at 2 recruitment centers. Primary outcome will be the clinical change in emotion regulation capacities assessed with the Difficulties in Emotion Regulation Scale (DERS). We will also investigated the effect of psychotherapy on metacognitive abilities and several clinical features such as BPD symptomatology, general psychopathology, depression, personal functioning, and trait dimensions (anger, impulsivity, alexithymia). We will evaluate changes in brain connectivity patterns and during the view of emotional pictures. A multidimensional assessment will be performed at the baseline, at 6, 12, 18 months. We will obtain structural and functional Magnetic Resonance Images (MRIs) in MIT-Treated BPD (N = 30) and SCM-treated BPD (N = 30) at baseline and after treatment, as well as in a group of 30 healthy and unrelated volunteers that will be scanned once for comparison. DISCUSSION The present study could contribute to elucidate the neurobiological mechanisms underlying psychotherapy efficacy. The inclusion of a multidisciplinary study protocol will allow to study BPD considering different features that can affect the treatment response and their reciprocal relationships. Abstract
Emotion dysregulation is a hallmark of borderline personality disorder (BPD). Most interventions for patients with BPD, therefore, aim at the improvement of emotion regulation. In the current paper, we provide an overview of studies investigating the effects of psychotherapeutic or pharmacological interventions on neurobiological correlates of various aspects of emotion regulation. In fact, studies suggest that the prefrontal-limbic circuit may play a major role in mediating effects of clinically efficacious psychotherapeutic treatments, i.e., they lead to clinical improvement via modulating the function and structure of the amygdala, the insula, and the dorsal anterior cingulate cortex, as well as prefrontal areas involved in the cognitive regulation of emotions, and enhancing the coupling of limbic and prefrontal areas. Oxytocin as a promising pharmacological approach to emotion dysregulation in BPD was shown to dampen amygdala activity in response to emotional stimuli. Understanding the brain mechanisms that mediate treatment effects will harness further development of targeted mechanism-based interventions for patients with BPD.
