Abstract
Objective Perinatal depression has become a global public health problem, which not only harms the health of mothers and their offspring, but also increases the socio-economic burden, so early intervention is urgent. Music intervention is a low-cost and safe intervention method. This study endeavored to systematically integrate and quantitatively evaluate the effectiveness of music intervention for perinatal depression. Methods PubMed, Embase, Web of Science and Cochrane Library were searched systematically. The search period was up to September 1, 2024. The included studies were summarized and analyzed. Results A total of 1375 articles were obtained through preliminary search, and 13 of them were finally included. The effect of music intervention on perinatal depression was better than that of the control group (SMD = -0.53, 95%CI (-0.81, -0.26), p < 0.05). Music intervention had no significant effect on alleviating anxiety (SMD = -0.47, 95%CI (-0.63, -0.31), p > 0.05). However, the heterogeneity of the included studies was significant. Conclusions This study indicated that music intervention had a significant effect on alleviating perinatal depression, but the effect on anxiety was not significant. However, the results were highly heterogeneous, and large-scale, multi-center, and long-term studies are needed in the future to confirm this.

Abstract
AIM To determine the effect of music applied during the ROP examination on pain, comfort, and physiological parameters in preterm infants. METHODS The sample of this prospective randomized controlled double-blind experimental study consisted of 28 preterm infants who were examined for ROP of a tertiary hospital in the Neonatal Unit. Data were collected with a Questionnaire, Physiological Parameters Observation Form (PPOF), Revised-Premature Infant Pain Profile (PIPP-R), and Premature Infant Comfort Scale (PICS). RESULTS The results revealed that the crying times of the infants in the experimental group were shorter than the infants in the control group. The preterm infants in the experimental group had statistically lower PIPP-R scores during and after the procedure than the PIPP-R scores of the infants in the control group (p < 0.001) and the music applied to the preterm infants resulted in a mean decrease of 3.857 in the post-procedure and pre-procedure PIPP-R scores (p < 0.05). While there was no statistical difference between the pre-procedure and pre-procedural PICS scores of the preterm infants in the experimental and control groups (p = 0.599; p = 117), the post-procedure PICS values of the preterm infants in the experimental group were found to be lower than those of the control group (p < 0.001). It was found that the music applied to preterm infants during the ROP examination resulted in a mean decrease of 1.286 in PICS scores after the procedure and before the procedure (p < 0.05). CONCLUSION It was determined that the music listened to during the ROP examination decreased the PIPP-R pain scores of preterm infants, had a positive effect on the PICS scores after the procedure, but did not affect the physiological parameters positively. Abstract
BACKGROUND Preterm birth contributes to adverse mental health outcomes of parents dealing with a premature neonate. The main objective of this study is to determine whether music therapy (MT) songwriting during the infants' stay in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) is superior to standard care in reducing the risk of postpartum depression in high-risk parents of preterm children throughout the hospital treatment. The secondary objectives include assessment of effectiveness of MT in other aspects of mental health (anxiety level, perceived stress, mental wellbeing, coping, resilience). Furthermore, this trial will evaluate the medical and social factors that may be associated with the effects of MT songwriting. PARTICIPANTS AND PROCEDURE The study design is a sequential mixed method study with a dominant status QUAN to qual. The quantitative trial was designed as a parallel, multicenter, pragmatic, randomized controlled trial. The qualitative study is a descriptive phenomenological study that seeks to understand the lived experiences of participants exposed to songwriting. Participants are parents of premature infants hospitalized in NICU (106 families) in 5 hospitals, in Colombia and Poland. Intervention: 3 MT songwriting sessions per week across 3 weeks. Primary outcome: the risk of postnatal depression; secondary outcomes: anxiety level, mental wellbeing, resilience, stress, coping. RESULTS The results will be analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. CONCLUSIONS This study will provide a report on the effectiveness of MT songwriting on mental health in at-risk parents of preterm infants.

Abstract
After discharge from a neonatal unit, families of preterm infants may require therapeutic support to address challenges related to their infant/s' development, changed family circumstances, and/or parent wellbeing. This integrative review (IR) sought to examine the impact of music therapy on preterm infants and their families post-hospital discharge. A systematic search encompassing seven databases resulted in 83 citations, with six studies initially meeting the inclusion criteria. A further six studies were evaluated and selected upon their publication during the review process. Each study was assessed using the Mixed Methods Appraisal Tool (MMAT), followed by the identification of major themes and sub-themes. Our results suggest that music therapy contributed to creating supportive physical and metaphorical environments for preterm infants and their families, in which they could acquire essential skills, tools, and resources for fostering communication and connection with one another. Preterm infants and toddlers may have also enhanced their developmental skills through music therapy sessions post-discharge. Further investigation into the impact of music therapy on preterm infants and their caregivers at different timepoints after hospital discharge is recommended, as well as a comparison of individual and group music therapy outcomes on infant development and parent health. Future research should include a broader spectrum of family members, along with caregivers from diverse family structures and gender identities, reflecting practices already established in some clinical settings.

Abstract
Preterm infants are deprived of in utero sensory stimulation during the third trimester, an important period of central nervous system development. As a result, maturational trajectories are often reduced in infants born preterm. One such system affected is the brain including the auditory and respiratory control pathways. During normal pregnancy the intrauterine environment attenuates external auditory stimuli while exposing the fetus to filtered maternal voice, intra-abdominal sounds, and external stimuli. In contrast, during the third trimester of development, preterm infants are exposed to a vastly different soundscape including non-attenuated auditory sounds and a lack of womb related stimuli, both of which may affect postnatal brain maturation. Therefore, fostering a nurturing postnatal auditory environment during hospitalization may have a significant impact on related outcomes of preterm infants. Studies using a range of postnatal auditory stimulations have suggested that exposure to sounds or lack thereof can have a significant impact on outcomes. However, studies are inconsistent with sound levels, duration of exposure to auditory stimuli, and the gestational age at which infants are exposed. IMPACT: Auditory stimulation can provide a low cost and low risk intervention to stabilize respiration, improve neuronal maturation and reduce long-term sequelae in preterm infants. The potential benefits of auditory stimulation are dependent on the type of sound, the duration of exposure and age at time of exposure. Future studies should focus on the optimal type and duration of sound exposure and postnatal developmental window to improve outcomes.

Abstract
Importance Preterm children are at risk for neurodevelopment impairments. Objective To evaluate the effect of a music therapy (MT) intervention (parent-led, infant-directed singing) for premature children during the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) stay and/or after hospital discharge on language development at 24 months' corrected age (CA). Design, Setting, and Participants This predefined secondary analysis followed participants in the LongSTEP (Longitudinal Study of Music Therapy's Effectiveness for Premature Infants and Their Caregivers) randomized clinical trial, which was conducted from August 2018 to April 2022 in 8 NICUs across 5 countries (Argentina, Colombia, Israel, Norway, and Poland) and included clinic follow-up visits and extended interventions after hospital discharge. Intervention Participants were children born preterm (<35 weeks' gestation) and their parents. Participants were randomized at enrollment to MT with standard care (SC) or SC alone; they were randomized to MT or SC again at discharge. The MT was parent-led, infant-directed singing tailored to infant responses and supported by a music therapist and was provided 3 times weekly in the NICU and/or in 7 sessions across 6 months after discharge. The SC consisted of early intervention methods of medical, nursing, and social services, without MT. Main Outcome and Measures Primary outcome was language development, as measured by the Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development, Third Edition (BSID-III) language composite score, with the remaining BSID-III composite and subscale scores as the secondary outcomes. Group differences in treatment effects were assessed using linear mixed-effects models using all available data. Results Of 206 participants (103 female infants [50%]; mean [SD] GA, 30.5 [2.7] weeks), 51 were randomized to MT and 53 to SC at enrollment; at discharge, 52 were randomized to MT and 50 to SC. A total of 112 (54%) were retained at the 24 months' CA follow-up. Most participants (79 [70%] to 93 [83%]) had BSID-III scores in the normal range (≥85). Mean differences for the language composite score were -2.36 (95% CI, -12.60 to 7.88; P = .65) for the MT at NICU with postdischarge SC group, 2.65 (95% CI, -7.94 to 13.23; P = .62) for the SC at NICU and postdischarge MT group, and -3.77 (95% CI, -13.97 to 6.43; P = .47) for the MT group at both NICU and postdischarge. There were no significant effects for cognitive or motor development. Conclusions and Relevance This secondary analysis did not confirm an effect of parent-led, infant-directed singing on neurodevelopment in preterm children at 24 months' CA; wide CIs suggest, however, that potential effects cannot be excluded. Future research should determine the MT approaches, implementation time, and duration that are effective in targeting children at risk for neurodevelopmental impairments and introducing broader measurements for changes in brain development. Abstract
Non-pharmacological therapy has gained popularity in the intervention of Alzheimer's disease (AD) due to its apparent therapeutic effectiveness and the limitation of biological drug. A wealth of research indicates that music interventions can enhance cognition, mood and behavior in individuals with AD. Nonetheless, the underlying mechanisms behind these improvements have yet to be fully and systematically delineated. This review aims to holistically review how music-based intervention (MBI) ameliorates abnormal emotion, cognition decline, and behavioral changes in AD patients. We cover several key dimensions: the regulation of MBIs on cerebral blood flow (CBF), their impact on neurotransmission (including GABAergic and monoaminergic transmissions), modulation of synaptic plasticity, and hormonal release. Additionally, we summarize the clinical applications and limitations of active music-based intervention (AMBI), passive music-based intervention (PMBI), and hybrid music-based intervention (HMBI). This thorough analysis enhances our understanding of the role of MBI in AD and supports the development of non-pharmacological therapeutic strategies.

Abstract
CONTEXT Over 43 million caregivers provide care and support in the United States. Increased stress and burden may contribute to poor psychosocial well-being. Recently, there has been an emergence of art-based interventions to improve well-being among care receivers and caregivers. A synthesis of this literature evaluating expressive arts interventions (EAIs) with caregivers is needed. OBJECTIVES Identify the nature and impact of EAIs for caregivers and outline directions for future research. METHODS Systematic searches were conducted in PubMed/MEDLINE, CINAHL, PsychINFO, and Web of Science for relevant studies between 2001 and 2022. Inclusion criteria included EAI addressing psychosocial well-being of caregivers, quantitative and mixed methods studies, and written in English. RESULTS Twenty-seven studies were included (1359 participants). There was a diverse global representation of countries (n = 14). Twelve studies were randomized controlled trials. The majority (n = 11) were conducted with dementia/alzheimers caregivers and 41% (n = 11) were delivered to the caregiver/receiver dyad. Fifty-nine percent of the EAIs were music-based, 22% were visual arts, and 10% were writing. Intervention length varied from a single one-hour session to biweekly for 10-months; eight lasted two-weeks. Overall, stress improved in 80% of the studies, anxiety in 69%, caregiver burden in 57%, and depressive symptoms in 31%. CONCLUSION Caregivers are essential to the care of people with medically complex and life-limiting conditions. EAIs hold the potential to improve psychosocial outcomes for caregivers, are used globally, and can be culturally tailored. Future research should examine intervention duration and intensity, measures to address additional dimensions of psychsocial well-being, and implementation in additional caregiver populations.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The Pavlik harness (PH) is the most common treatment for infants with developmental dysplasia of the hip. Although success rates are high when used appropriately, brace treatment may impact family function and parental bonding. The purpose of this study was to prospectively determine how PH treatment affected these psychosocial variables. METHODS This is a prospective, single-surgeon study at a tertiary-care, urban, academic children's hospital between November 2022 and March 2023. All patients newly treated with a Pavlik were eligible. Caregivers were administered the Postpartum Bonding Questionnaire and the Revised Impact on Family Scale (rIOFS) at the baseline visit and 2- and 6 weeks following treatment initiation. Demographic and treatment-specific information was collected through surveys and retrospective chart review. Descriptive statistics and bivariate analysis were used. RESULTS A total of 55 caregiver-child dyads were included in the final analysis. Most patients were female (89%) and/or first-born (73%). Forty (73%) hips were diagnosed as having stable dysplasia. rIOFS scores steadily improved from baseline, through 2- and 6 weeks posttreatment initiation. Six-week rIOFS scores were significantly lower than both baseline ( P= 0.002) and 2 weeks ( P =0.018). Average parental bonding scores also improved steadily throughout treatment and did not surpass the threshold of clinical concern at any time. Neither full-time harness use (24 h/d vs. 23 h/d based upon clinical stability) nor age at treatment initiation had a statistically significant effect on parental bonding or family functioning (all P >0.05). Additional demographic variables such as birth order, parental history of anxiety/depression, and relative socioeconomic disadvantage also had no significant effect on psychosocial outcomes. CONCLUSION PH treatment did not significantly impact maternal-fetal bonding or family dynamics. Relative to other pediatric diseases, PH treatment has an impact on family life greater than that of single-leg spica, but less than that of school-age children with chronic medical illnesses. As PH treatment is a widely used treatment for infantile developmental dysplasia of the hip, this study provides information that clinicians may use to more accurately counsel families and assuage parental concerns. Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study assessed the association between MT and weight gain among preterm infants hospitalized in Neonatal Intensive Care Units. METHODS Data collected during the international, randomized, Longitudinal Study of Music Therapy's Effectiveness for Premature Infants and their Caregivers (LongSTEP) study were compared between the MT group and the standard care (SC) group. Weights were recorded at birth, enrollment, and discharge. Weight percentiles, Z-scores, weight gain velocity, and extrauterine growth restriction (EUGR) were calculated. RESULTS Among 201 preterm infants included, no significant differences in weight parameters (weight, weight percentiles, weight Z-scores; all p ≥ 0.23) were found between the MT group (n = 104) and the SC (n = 97) group at birth, enrollment, or discharge. No statistical differences in EUGR represented by change in Z-scores from birth to discharge were recorded between MT and SC (0.8 vs. 0.7). Among perinatal parameters, younger gestational age (p = 0.005) and male sex (p = 0.012) were associated with increased risk of EUGR at discharge. Antenatal steroid treatment, systemic infection, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, neurological morbidities, retinopathy of prematurity, necrotizing enterocolitis, parental factors (amount of skin-to-skin care, bonding, anxiety, and depression questionnaire scores), and type of enteral nutrition did not significantly influence weight gain parameters (all p > 0.05). CONCLUSIONS In the LongSTEP study, MT for preterm infants and families was not associated with better weight parameters compared to the SC group. The degree of prematurity remains the main risk factor for unfavorable weight parameters.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Preterm birth interferes with brain maturation, and subsequent clinical events and interventions may have additional deleterious effects. Music as therapy is offered increasingly in neonatal intensive care units aiming to improve health outcomes and quality of life for both preterm infants and the well-being of their parents. Systematic reviews of mixed methodological quality have demonstrated ambiguous results for the efficacy of various types of auditory stimulation of preterm infants. A more comprehensive and rigorous systematic review is needed to address controversies arising from apparently conflicting studies and reviews. OBJECTIVES We assessed the overall efficacy of music and vocal interventions for physiological and neurodevelopmental outcomes in preterm infants (< 37 weeks' gestation) compared to standard care. In addition, we aimed to determine specific effects of various interventions for physiological, anthropometric, social-emotional, neurodevelopmental short- and long-term outcomes in the infants, parental well-being, and bonding. SEARCH METHODS We searched Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (CENTRAL), MEDLINE, Embase, CINAHL, PsycINFO, Web of Science, RILM Abstracts, and ERIC in November 2021; and Proquest Dissertations in February 2019. We searched the reference lists of related systematic reviews, and of studies selected for inclusion and clinical trial registries. SELECTION CRITERIA We included parallel, and cluster-randomised controlled trials with preterm infants < 37 weeks` gestation during hospitalisation, and parents when they were involved in the intervention. Interventions were any music or vocal stimulation provided live or via a recording by a music therapist, a parent, or a healthcare professional compared to standard care. The intervention duration was greater than five minutes and needed to occur more than three times. DATA COLLECTION AND ANALYSIS Three review authors independently extracted data. We analysed the treatment effects of the individual trials using RevMan Web using a fixed-effects model to combine the data. Where possible, we presented results in meta-analyses using mean differences with 95% CI. We performed heterogeneity tests. When the I2 statistic was higher than 50%, we assessed the source of the heterogeneity by sensitivity and subgroup analyses. We used GRADE to assess the certainty of the evidence. MAIN RESULTS We included 25 trials recruiting 1532 infants and 691 parents (21 parallel-group RCTs, four cross-over RCTs). The infants gestational age at birth varied from 23 to 36 weeks, taking place in NICUs (level 1 to 3) around the world. Within the trials, the intervention varied widely in type, delivery, frequency, and duration. Music and voice were mainly characterised by calm, soft, musical parameters in lullaby style, often integrating the sung mother's voice live or recorded, defined as music therapy or music medicine. The general risk of bias in the included studies varied from low to high risk of bias. Music and vocal interventions compared to standard care Music/vocal interventions do not increase oxygen saturation in the infants during the intervention (mean difference (MD) 0.13, 95% CI -0.33 to 0.59; P = 0.59; 958 infants, 10 studies; high-certainty evidence). Music and voice probably do not increase oxygen saturation post-intervention either (MD 0.63, 95% CI -0.01 to 1.26; P = 0.05; 800 infants, 7 studies; moderate-certainty evidence). The intervention may not increase infant development (Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (BSID)) with the cognitive composition score (MD 0.35, 95% CI -4.85 to 5.55; P = 0.90; 69 infants, 2 studies; low-certainty evidence); the motor composition score (MD -0.17, 95% CI -5.45 to 5.11; P = 0.95; 69 infants, 2 studies; low-certainty evidence); and the language composition score (MD 0.38, 95% CI -5.45 to 6.21; P = 0.90; 69 infants, 2 studies; low-certainty evidence). Music therapy may not reduce parental state-trait anxiety (MD -1.12, 95% CI -3.20 to 0.96; P = 0.29; 97 parents, 4 studies; low-certainty evidence). The intervention probably does not reduce respiratory rate during the intervention (MD 0.42, 95% CI -1.05 to 1.90; P = 0.57; 750 infants; 7 studies; moderate-certainty evidence) and post-intervention (MD 0.51, 95% CI -1.57 to 2.58; P = 0.63; 636 infants, 5 studies; moderate-certainty evidence). However, music/vocal interventions probably reduce heart rates in preterm infants during the intervention (MD -1.38, 95% CI -2.63 to -0.12; P = 0.03; 1014 infants; 11 studies; moderate-certainty evidence). This beneficial effect was even stronger after the intervention. Music/vocal interventions reduce heart rate post-intervention (MD -3.80, 95% CI -5.05 to -2.55; P < 0.00001; 903 infants, 9 studies; high-certainty evidence) with wide CIs ranging from medium to large beneficial effects. Music therapy may not reduce postnatal depression (MD 0.50, 95% CI -1.80 to 2.81; P = 0.67; 67 participants; 2 studies; low-certainty evidence). The evidence is very uncertain about the effect of music therapy on parental state anxiety (MD -0.15, 95% CI -2.72 to 2.41; P = 0.91; 87 parents, 3 studies; very low-certainty evidence). We are uncertain about any further effects regarding all other secondary short- and long-term outcomes on the infants, parental well-being, and bonding/attachment. Two studies evaluated adverse effects as an explicit outcome of interest and reported no adverse effects from music and voice. AUTHORS' CONCLUSIONS Music/vocal interventions do not increase oxygen saturation during and probably not after the intervention compared to standard care. The evidence suggests that music and voice do not increase infant development (BSID) or reduce parental state-trait anxiety. The intervention probably does not reduce respiratory rate in preterm infants. However, music/vocal interventions probably reduce heart rates in preterm infants during the intervention, and this beneficial effect is even stronger after the intervention, demonstrating that music/vocal interventions reduce heart rates in preterm infants post-intervention. We found no reports of adverse effects from music and voice. Due to low-certainty evidence for all other outcomes, we could not draw any further conclusions regarding overall efficacy nor the possible impact of different intervention types, frequencies, or durations. Further research with more power, fewer risks of bias, and more sensitive and clinically relevant outcomes are needed.

Abstract
PURPOSE OF REVIEW The neonatal ICU (NICU) setting is a unique opportunity to not only detect major changes in caregiver mental health through universal perinatal mood and anxiety disorder (PMAD) screening but also intervene with specialized support. We review evidence for addressing caregiver mental health in the NICU, explore current guidelines and models for integrated behavioural health programmes, and describe challenges specific to NICUs, particularly in standalone paediatric hospitals. RECENT FINDINGS Parents of infants admitted to the NICU are at an increased risk for developing PMADs at rates well above the general postpartum community. Select NICUs within the United States and internationally have recognized the importance of having an embedded psychologist to address caregiver PMADs. However, organizational structures within paediatric healthcare systems are not equipped to manage the logistical, ethical, legal and practical needs of comprehensive caregiver mental health programmes. SUMMARY To properly address caregiver mental health in NICU settings, clinical and administrative teams must work together to ensure seamless service provision. Systems that facilitate the development of unique parent medical records at the onset of paediatric care are likely to significantly reduce potential liability risks and solve several challenges related to caregiver-focused mental health support in the NICU. Abstract
BACKGROUND Treatment fidelity (TF) refers to methodological strategies used to monitor and enhance the reliability and validity of interventions. We evaluated TF in a pragmatic RCT of music therapy (MT) for premature infants and their parents. METHODS Two hundred thirteen families from seven neonatal intensive care units (NICUs) were randomized to receive standard care, or standard care plus MT during hospitalization, and/or during a 6-month period post-discharge. Eleven music therapists delivered the intervention. Audio and video recordings from sessions representing approximately 10% of each therapists' participants were evaluated by two external raters and the corresponding therapist using TF questionnaires designed for the study (treatment delivery (TD)). Parents evaluated their experience with MT at the 6-month assessment with a corresponding questionnaire (treatment receipt (TR)). All items as well as composite scores (mean scores across items) were Likert scales from 0 (completely disagree) to 6 (completely agree). A threshold for satisfactory TF scores (≥4) was used in the additional analysis of dichotomized items. RESULTS Internal consistency evaluated with Cronbach's alpha was good for all TF questionnaires (α ≥ 0.70), except the external rater NICU questionnaire where it was slightly lower (α 0.66). Interrater reliability measured by intraclass correlation coefficient (ICC) was moderate (NICU 0.43 (CI 0.27, 0.58), post-discharge 0.57 (CI 0.39, 0.73)). Gwet's AC for the dichotomized items varied between 0.32 (CI 0.10, 0.54) and 0.72 (CI 0.55, 0.89). Seventy-two NICU and 40 follow-up sessions with 39 participants were evaluated. Therapists' mean (SD) TD composite score was 4.88 (0.92) in the NICU phase and 4.95 (1.05) in the post-discharge phase. TR was evaluated by 138 parents. The mean (SD) score across intervention conditions was 5.66 (0.50). CONCLUSIONS TF questionnaires developed to assess MT in neonatal care showed good internal consistency and moderate interrater reliability. TF scores indicated that therapists across countries successfully implemented MT in accordance with the protocol. The high treatment receipt scores indicate that parents received the intervention as intended. Future research in this area should aim to improve the interrater reliability of TF measures by additional training of raters and improved operational definitions of items. Abstract
Introduction Premature birth is associated with long-term somatic and neurological disorders, including cognitive, social and behavioral impairments. Moreover, the mothers of infants born preterm exhibit a higher prevalence of anxiety and depressive symptoms after birth. Early rehabilitation, developmental care, and parenting support have already been shown to have a positive impact on neurological outcome. However, no randomized controlled study has so far assessed the effects on parenting and long-term neurological outcomes of proprioceptive stimulation to trigger positive brain plasticity in very preterm babies. The CALIN project will therefore investigate the impact of sensory-tonic stimulation (STS) of extremely preterm infants by their parents on child parent interactions, infants' morphological and functional brain development and subsequent cognition (including social cognition), and parents' anxiety and depressive symptoms in the postpartum period. Methods and analysis Infants born between 25 and 32 weeks of gestation will be randomly assigned to the "STS + Kangaroo care" or "Kangaroo care" group. The primary endpoint, child and parent interactions, will be rated at 12 months corrected age using the Coding Interactive Behavior system. Secondary endpoints include: 1/functional and anatomical brain maturation sequentially assessed during neonatal hospitalization using electroencephalogram (EEG), amplitude-integrated EEG (aEEG), cranial ultrasound and MRI performed at term-corrected age, 2/social and cognitive outcomes assessed at 15 months, 2, 4 and 6 years, and 3/parents' anxiety and depressive symptoms assessed at 7 ± 1 weeks after birth, using dedicated questionnaires. Ethics and dissemination This study was approved by the French Ethics Committee for the Protection of Persons on 18 October 2021. It is registered with the French National Agency for the Safety of Medicines and Health Products (ANSM; no. 2020-A00382-37). The registry number on ClinicalTrials.gov is NCT04380051.

Abstract
Major advances in music neuroscience have fueled a growing interest in music-based neurological rehabilitation among researchers and clinicians. Musical activities are excellently suited to be adapted for clinical practice because of their multisensory nature, their demands on cognitive, language, and motor functions, and music's ability to induce emotions and regulate mood. However, the overall quality of music-based rehabilitation research remains low to moderate for most populations and outcomes. In this consensus article, expert panelists who participated in the Neuroscience and Music VII conference in June 2021 address methodological challenges relevant to music-based rehabilitation research. The article aims to provide guidance on challenges related to treatment, outcomes, research designs, and implementation in music-based rehabilitation research. The article addresses how to define music-based rehabilitation, select appropriate control interventions and outcomes, incorporate technology, and consider individual differences, among other challenges. The article highlights the value of the framework for the development and evaluation of complex interventions for music-based rehabilitation research and the need for stronger methodological rigor to allow the widespread implementation of music-based rehabilitation into regular clinical practice.

Abstract
The reason why music can affect people's emotional experience is that the stimulation can be transmitted to the brain through hearing, such as the thalamus and lenticular nucleus. Music therapy has a positive auxiliary treatment effect on mental health. Therefore, an evaluation model of the auxiliary effect of music therapy on mental health based on artificial intelligence technology is proposed. We construct the constraint index parameters for the evaluation of music therapy's auxiliary effect on mental health, take parent pressure, self-pressure, teacher pressure, and social pressure as the questionnaire object parameters, take class type as the independent variable, carry out an independent sample t-test, and construct an adaptive information extraction model for the evaluation of music therapy's auxiliary effect on mental health. Paired sample t-test is used to analyze whether there is a difference between the experimental group and the control group on the learning stress scale. According to the analysis of the difference between the experimental group and the control group, combined with the difference test analysis of the data of the stress release of music therapy on mental health, the quantitative evaluation of the auxiliary effect of music therapy on mental health is realized through artificial intelligence optimization control. The experimental results show that the accuracy and reliability of this method to analyze the auxiliary effect of music therapy on mental health are high. There are obvious changes in the data of students' self-pressure, and the difference between the average value and standard deviation of the data before and after the course is obvious. From the perspective of the effectiveness of the course, the students in the class who implement the four relaxation experience courses in the course are under the pressure of parents, self-pressure, teacher pressure, and social pressure. There are obvious changes in the five aspects of learning pressure compared with that before the implementation of the course. After the course experience, the pressure value of most students decreases, and the course intervention effect is obvious.
