Educational material production and validity: educational instrument for home care for premature newborns

OBJECTIVE

to produce and validate a booklet, based on Jean Watson's Theory, on home care for premature newborns, based on caregivers' experiences.

METHOD

a methodological study, developed in the following stages: diagnosis of knowledge needs about home care; survey of scientific content; educational material production; and validity by judges/experts.

RESULTS

the literature review resulted in 19 articles. The main themes (breastfeeding, bath care, bond building, infection prevention and support network) were listed for producing the booklet "Booklet for Premature Newborns: Demystifying Home Care". The booklet content and appearance received the overall Content Validity Index of 0.85, considered suitable within the scientific rigor of validity.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

the booklet produced and validated is an educational material whose main role is to provide knowledge and awaken caregivers' autonomy in providing home care to newborns.

Comparison of the effectiveness of two educational interventions on sleep quality in older adults: a randomized clinical trial

OBJECTIVE

to compare the effectiveness of an educational intervention mediated by a booklet with verbal nursing guidelines in improving sleep quality in older adults.

METHOD

this is a randomized, single-blind clinical trial, carried out with 126 older adults, of which 62 were allocated in group 1, who received health education using an educational booklet, and 64 in group 2, who were exposed to health education with verbal nursing guidelines. Sleep quality was verified by the Pittsburgh Index, Epworth Sleepiness Scale and variable minutes that it takes to sleep. In order to compare the pre and post-tests, within the group, the Wilcoxon and chi-square tests were used. Status change was assessed using McNemar's chi-square test. To compare groups, Mann-Whitney and chi-square were used. The significance level was 5%.

RESULTS

older adults in both groups showed improvement in sleep quality (p > 0.05) after the interventions. There was no statistically significant difference between the interventions.

CONCLUSION

the educational intervention mediated by a booklet and verbal nursing guidelines were equally effective in improving older adults' sleep quality. RBR-993xf7.

Produção e validação de material educativo: instrumento educativo para o cuidado domiciliar ao recém-nascido prematuro

RESUMO Objetivo: produzir e validar cartilha, baseado na Teoria de Jean Watson, sobre os cuidados domiciliares ao recém-nascido prematuro, a partir de vivências de cuidadores. Método: estudo metodológico, desenvolvido nas etapas: diagnóstico das necessidades de conhecimento sobre os cuidados domiciliares; levantamento dos conteúdos científicos; produção de material educativo; e validação por juízas/experts. Resultados: a revisão da literatura resultou em 19 artigos. Elencaram-se os principais temas (amamentação, cuidados com o banho, construção de vínculo, prevenção de infecções e rede de apoio), para produção da cartilha intitulada “Cartilha de Cuidados com o Recém-Nascido Prematuro: Desmistificando o Cuidar no Domicílio”. O conteúdo e aparência da cartilha recebeu o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo Global de 0,85, considerado adequado dentro do rigor científico de validade. Considerações finais: a cartilha produzida e validada é um material educativo cujo papel principal é proporcionar conhecimento e despertar a autonomia dos cuidadores na prestação dos cuidados domiciliares ao recém-nascido.

Almanac for preventing the use of alcohol and other drugs among adolescents: construction and validity

OBJECTIVES

to build and validate an almanac to prevent the use of alcohol and other drugs among adolescents.

METHODS

a methodological study, based on the adaptation of Echer's stages and on Culture Circles. The Content Validity Index and the Concordance Index were used for validity.

RESULTS

problematization in Culture Circles and literature review supported the elaboration of an almanac. In validity with eleven health judges, the material obtained a global Content Validity Index of 0.73 in the first version and 0.84 in the second version, with validation with five judges. In terms of concordance, the 95% value was obtained with four technical judges and 86.2% with nine participants from the target audience.

CONCLUSIONS

the constructed and validated almanac has playful, dialogic and problematizing potential.

Construction and validation of a booklet of perioperative orientation and patient safety

OBJECTIVE

To describe the development and validation process of a booklet with perioperative guidelines for surgical patients.

METHOD

This is a methodological, quantitative study, divided into three stages: narrative review, booklet preparation and validation with 23 judges, nurses specialized in patient safety/perioperative nursing, who answered the online Educational Content Validation Instrument. The booklet was considered valid when each item obtained a Content Validity Index equal to or greater than 0.8.

RESULTS

The elaborated material was divided into four items: surgical patient safety; preoperative guidelines; the surgical center; guidelines after surgery. The overall Content Validity Index in the validation with judges was 1.0, considered gold standard.

CONCLUSION

The booklet was validated by experts regarding objectives, structure/presentation and relevance.

Effectiveness of an educational video in older adults' perception about falling risks: a randomized clinical trial

OBJECTIVE

to assess the effectiveness of using an educational video in comparison with verbal nursing guidelines in increasing older adults' perception of falling risks.

METHOD

this is a randomized clinical trial in a cluster, with 138 community older adults, randomized into an intervention group, which watched an educational video, and a control group, which received verbal instructions. The perception of falling risks was assessed by FRAQ-Brazil in the pre-test and after a 30-day follow-up. Student's t-test was used for dependent samples to compare intragroup means and for independent samples to compare intergroup means. The effect size was determined by Cohen's d.

RESULTS

in the intragroup analysis, intervention and control groups had an increase in perception, with a statistically significant difference between pre-and post-tests. In the intergroup analysis, the control group showed a greater increase in the perception of falling risks in relation to the intervention group (p = 0.013), with Cohen's d of small effect.

CONCLUSION

the use of an educational video and verbal instructions increased older adults' perception of falling risks, with better results in the control group. However, the effect size was small. RBR-8nfggd.

Comparação de eficácia de duas intervenções educativas na qualidade do sono de idosos: ensaio clínico randomizado

RESUMO Objetivo: comparar a eficácia de intervenção educativa mediada por cartilha com orientações verbais de enfermagem na melhora da qualidade do sono de idosos. Método: ensaio clínico randomizado, simples-cego, realizado com 126 idosos, dos quais 62 foram alocados no grupo 1, que recebeu educação em saúde com uso de cartilha educativa, e 64 no grupo 2, que foram expostos à educação em saúde com orientações verbais de enfermagem. A qualidade do sono foi verificada pelo Índice de Pittsburgh, Escala de Sonolência de Epworth e variável minutos que leva para dormir. Para comparar os pré e pós-testes, intragrupo, utilizaram-se os Testes de Wilcoxon e Qui-Quadrado. A mudança de status foi avaliada pelo Teste Qui-Quadrado de McNemar. Para comparar grupos, utilizou-se Mann-Whitney e Qui-Quadrado. O nível de significância foi de 5%. Resultados: os idosos de ambos os grupos apresentaram melhora na qualidade do sono (p > 0,05) após as intervenções. Não houve diferença estatisticamente significativa entre as intervenções. Conclusão a intervenção educativa mediada por cartilha e as orientações verbais de enfermagem foram igualmente eficazes na melhora da qualidade do sono de idosos. RBR-993xf7.

Construção e validação de cartilha de orientação perioperatória e segurança do paciente

RESUMO Objetivo: Descrever o processo de elaboração e validação de uma cartilha com orientações perioperatórias para os pacientes cirúrgicos. Método: Estudo metodológico, quantitativo, dividido em três etapas: revisão narrativa, elaboração da cartilha e validação com 23 juízes, enfermeiros especialistas em segurança do paciente/enfermagem perioperatória, que responderam ao Instrumento de Validação de Conteúdo Educacional via online. A cartilha foi considerada válida quando cada item obteve Índice de Validade de Conteúdo igual ou superior a 0,8. Resultados: O material elaborado foi dividido em quatro itens: segurança do paciente cirúrgico; orientações pré-operatórias; o centro cirúrgico; orientações após a cirurgia. O Índice de Validade de Conteúdo global na validação com juízes foi 1,0, considerado padrão-ouro. Conclusão: A cartilha foi validada pelos especialistas em relação aos objetivos, estrutura/apresentação e relevância.

Almanaque para prevenção do uso de álcool e outras drogas entre adolescentes: construção e validação

RESUMO Objetivos: construir e validar um almanaque para prevenção do uso de álcool e de outras drogas entre adolescentes. Métodos: estudo metodológico, pautado na adaptação das etapas de Echer e na realização dos Círculos de Cultura. Utilizaram-se o Índice de Validade de Conteúdo e o Índice de Concordância para validação. Resultados: a problematização nos Círculos de Cultura e a revisão da literatura embasaram a elaboração do almanaque. Na validação com onze juízes da saúde, o material obteve Índice de Validade de Conteúdo global de 0,73 na primeira versão e de 0,84 na segunda versão, com a validação junto a cinco juízes. Em relação à concordância, obteve-se o valor de 95% com quatro juízes técnicos e de 86,2% com nove participantes do público-alvo. Conclusões: o almanaque construído e validado tem potencial lúdico, dialógico e problematizador.

Knowledge, attitude and practice of people with HIV regarding a healthy lifestyle: clinical trial

ABSTRACT Objective: To evaluate the effectiveness of an educational booklet on the knowledge, attitude and practice of a healthy lifestyle in people with HIV. Methods: Randomized clinical trial with 75 intervention group patients using the booklet, and 75 control group patients undergoing usual service care. Data collection occurred in four moments, with a Survey pertaining Knowledge, Attitude and Practice. Nonparametric analysis of variance of repeated measures was used. Results: 70 participants in the intervention group and 74 in the control group completed the study. In terms of knowledge, there was no difference between groups, the booklet impact came late, increasing after reassessments. In attitudes, there was a difference between groups in the two- and four-month reassessments compared to the baseline. In practices, there was a difference in the intervention group compared to the control group at two, four, and six months compared to baseline. Conclusion: The booklet was effective in improving healthy lifestyle knowledge, attitudes, and practices in people with HIV.

Educational technology for bathing/hygiene of elders at home: contributions to career knowledge

OBJECTIVE

to build and validate an educational booklet for bathing and hygiene of elders at home.

METHODS

a methodological study, developed through data collection in literature and situational diagnosis, booklet construction, material qualification through validation by expert judges (11 nurses) and target audience (30 caregivers). Data were analyzed descriptively. The minimum content validity index of 0.80 was considered.

RESULTS

in content and appearance validation, experts assigned Content Validity Index global of 0.92, while for assessment of the material's suitability, the booklet was classified as "superior", with an average of 90%. In the validation of caregivers, the overall Content Validity Index was 1.0.

CONCLUSION

the booklet was successfully validated and can be considered in the context of health education and collaborate with an adequate and safe practice of bathing and hygiene of elders at home.

Duration of night sleep and cognitive performance of community older adults

OBJECTIVE

to analyze the relationship between the duration of self-reported night sleep and the cognitive performance of older adults.

METHOD

the sample consisted of 156 older adults registered in Family Health Units (FHUs) in a city of São Paulo, divided into quartiles according to the duration of night sleep. Data collection was performed using a characterization questionnaire, Addenbrooke's Cognitive Exam - Revised (ACE-R) and Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI). Descriptive, comparative and correlational statistical analyses were performed.

RESULTS

the older adults obtained a mean of 61.94 points in ACE-R and 55.1% presented good sleep quality. Comparative analyses showed differences between the groups only in the cognitive domain of verbal fluency (p=0.018). The post-hoc analyses showed that older adults who slept more hours, a mean of 8.85 hours (Q1), had lower scores when compared to those who slept a mean of 6.11 hours (Q3) (p=0.004) and of 4.52 hours (Q4) (p=0.045). The adjusted model with application of the stepwise method showed a relationship between the independent variables of schooling and sleep duration and the domain verbal fluency.

CONCLUSION

it is concluded that sleep duration is related to the verbal fluency cognitive domain.

Construção e validação de gerontecnologias cuidativo-educacionais: revisão integrativa

Resumo Objetivo identificar na literatura como as gerontecnologias cuidativo-educacionais (GTEC) têm sido construídas e validadas, e propor recomendações para o seu desenvolvimento. Método revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bases de dados Web of Science, LILACS, CINAHL, BDENF, MEDLINE e SciELO seguindo a recomendação Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). Selecionaram-se estudos com os objetivos de construir e/ou validar gerontecnologias disponíveis na íntegra. Para extração dos dados, utilizou-se instrumento contendo variáveis acerca do nível de evidência dos estudos, ano de publicação e país de origem, objetivos, tipo de gerontecnologia desenvolvida e métodos de construção e validação. Resultados foram analisados 17 estudos. O ano de 2019 obteve maior número de publicações sobre a temática, sendo a maioria proveniente do Brasil. Evidenciou-se o desenvolvimento das gerontecnologias materiais, representadas por cartilhas, folhetos, manuais, jogos, softwares e materiais multimídia. Em relação ao método de construção das gerontecnologias adotado nos estudos destacaram-se diagnóstico situacional por meio de entrevistas, diálogos e escalas, e revisões da literatura acerca das temáticas. Na maioria dos estudos a validação foi realizada junto às pessoas idosas e, em alguns artigos, realizou-se a validação também com especialistas. Conclusão constatou-se que o processo de desenvolvimento de GTEC é recente e requer aprimoramento quanto à etapa de validação, a qual nem sempre é realizada pelos pesquisadores. Com relação às recomendações para o seu desenvolvimento, destacam-se o uso da linguagem acessível aos idosos e a associação de conhecimentos teóricos e práticos.

Construction and validation of care-educational gerontechnologies: integrative review

Abstract Objective identify in the literature how care-educational gerontechnologies have been constructed and validated and recommended propositions for their development. Method integrative literature review carried out in the Web of Science, LILACS, CINAHL, BDENF, MEDLINE and SciELO databases following the recommendation of Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses (PRISMA). We selected studies that presented the construction and validation of gerontechnologies. For data extraction, we used an instrument adapted from the international RedENSO. We also classified the level of evidence of the studies according to Melnyk and Fineout-Overholt Results We analyzed 17 studies. The year 2019 had the highest number of publications on the subject, with the majority coming from Brazil. The development of material gerontechnologies, as booklets, leaflets, manuals, games, software and multimedia materials, was more reported. Regarding the method of construction of gerontechnologies adopted in the studies, situational diagnosis through interviews, dialogues and scales, and literature reviews on the themes stood out. In most studies, validation was performed with the elderlies and, in some studies, validation was also performed with specialists. Conclusion We found that the process of development of care-educational gerontechnologies is recent and requires improvement in the validation stage and not always performed by researchers. Regarding the recommendations for their development, we highlight the use of language accessible to older people and the association of theoretical and practical knowledge.

VALIDATION OF A BOOKLET FOR THE CORRECT USE OF PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT IN THE CONTEXT OF COVID-19

ABSTRACT Objective: to describe the process for the elaboration and validation of a digital educational booklet intended for health professionals on the correct use of Personal Protective Equipment in the context of COVID-19. Method: a methodological study conducted between June and September 2020, operationalized in three stages: 1ststage: bibliographic survey; 2ndstage: elaboration of the booklet with the graphic designer to help in the development process of the technology; 3rdstage: content validation of the booklet by specialists through the Delphi technique. The validation was performed by 35 health and biology professionals and the local for selection of these was the Lattes Platform, using the Delphi technique in two rounds. The Content Validation Index was considered an acceptance criterion, with an agreement ≥ 0.78 among the judges being considered a good level. Results: the first version of the booklet obtained a global Content Validation Index of 0.79. There were suggestions for improvement that were accepted and, after the Delphi 2 phase, there was the resubmission of the booklet; it presented a global Content Validation Index of 0.99. Conclusion: the booklet was validated regarding its content and is compatible with its intended purpose, being important for the promotion of knowledge about the correct procedure to put on this equipment so that prevention measures are effective and shared.

Building and validating an educational video for elderly individuals about fall risks

OBJECTIVE

to build and validate educational video for elderly individuals about fall risks.

METHODS

methodological study with video building. validated by 22 judges and assessed by 22 elderly individuals. Content was selected from the Fall Prevention Model and items from the Falls Risk Awareness Questionnaire. Items with an agreement greater than 0.80 were considered valid. verified through Content Validation Index (CVI) and binomial test.

RESULTS

building the video was guided by the Cognitive Theory of Multimedia Learning. Digital animation and audio narration were used. It lasted ten minutes and five seconds and included biological. socioeconomic. behavioral and environmental risks as well as precautions to avoid them. The CVI of judges had an average of 0.99. and of elderly individuals. an average of 1.0.

CONCLUSION

the video was built and validated for content and understanding and can be used to prevent falls in elderly individuals.

Construction and validation of an educational gerontotechnology on frailty in elderly people

ABSTRACT Objective: to construct and validate an educational gerontechnology on frailty in elderly people. Method: a methodological study developed in three stages: educational video construction, validation by expert judges and elderly people. Validation was carried out by 22 judges and 22 elderly people. Educational Content Validation Instrument was used for judges and questions adapted from the Suitability Assessment of Materials questionnaire for elderly people. For validation, agreement criterion greater than 80% was considered, verified using Content Validation Index and binomial test. Results: the video addresses recommendations for elderly people at risk of frailty and health-promoting habits, using cordel literature. An agreement greater than 80% was verified in all items assessed by judges and the target audience. Conclusion: the video proved to be valid in terms of content and appearance by judges and elderly people, with the potential to mediate health-promoting educational practices in healthy aging.
