Promoting mental health in the workplace: web software development and validation

OBJECTIVE

to develop and validate the content and technical aspects of a web software program for promoting mental health in the workplace.

METHOD

applied methodological study and technological development, carried out in three stages: 1) Umbrella review development; 2) Web software development; 3) Content and technical validation carried out by 14 judges. The data was submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and calculation of the content validity index.

RESULTS

based on the guidelines' recommendations, information was defined and extracted in order to develop the web software consisting of the following dimensions: mental health education, support among coworkers, promotion strategies and mental health self-assessment. For the technical development, the objectives, general functions and technological infrastructure were defined. After development and functional testing, the version was made available for content and technical validation by judges. The overall content validity index was 0.98 and for the technical aspects it was 0.97.

CONCLUSION

the agreement between the judges in relation to the content and technical aspects, as well as the suggestions incorporated, demonstrated the potential for using web software to promote mental health in the workplace.

Validation of an evaluation matrix for the nursing process in the hospital context

OBJECTIVE

To validate the content of an evaluation matrix for the nursing process in the hospital context.

METHOD

A methodological study conducted in four stages, carried out from March to December 2022. Including: bibliographic research and selection of structuring foundations; construction of the logical model and analysis and judgment matrix; content validation by a committee of judges (n=11) using the Delphi technique; analysis of content validation data by calculating the Concordance Rate and Content Validity Index.

RESULTS

At the end of the two rounds, the matrix had a concordance rate of 90% regarding format and 100% regarding other structural aspects. It also had a 100% concordance rate regarding the scope and representativeness of the matrix domains. Regarding the average Content Validity Index, the values were 0.97 and 0.98, for clarity and representativeness, respectively.

CONCLUSION

The evaluation matrix - consisting of four dimensions and fourteen evaluation items referring to the necessary stages for the implementation and operationalization of the nursing process - demonstrated excellent content validity, which can contribute to supporting institutional initiatives for its consolidation in hospital nursing services.

Human responses in adolescents with oncological disease: a scoping review protocol

INTRODUCTION

The classification of human responses to health conditions or life processes, assuming that human responses are the way that a person responds, referring to the individual's experiences, feelings, perceptions, behaviours and physical reactions, can be an exercise that, although challenging, is central to nursing diagnoses and, consequently, to nursing practice. It is necessary to gather and organise the existing knowledge about the human responses in adolescents with cancer, starting from the moment of diagnosis, due to the specificities inherent to this stage of human development. A scoping review is an appropriate method to use in order to map the existing knowledge on human responses in adolescents with oncological diseases experienced since the diagnosis.

INCLUSION CRITERIA

Will encompass all types of studies, including 'grey literature' that centres on human responses related to adolescents aged 10-19 years with oncological diseases. There will be no restrictions based on the type of cancer, disease stage or other contextual factors, whether in home or healthcare settings.

METHODS AND ANALYSIS

The review will be conducted following the guidelines outlined by the Joanna Briggs Institute for scoping reviews. The search will encompass the following databases: CINAHL Complete (EBSCOhost), Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (EBSCOhost), MEDLINE Complete (EBSCOhost), Nursing and Allied Health Collection: Comprehensive (EBSCOhost), Cochrane Clinical Answers (EBSCOhost Answers), Latin American and Caribbean Literature on Health Sciences (LILACS) and 'grey literature' sources accessible through the Scientific Open Access Repositories of Portugal (RCAAP). A three-step search strategy will be implemented. Titles and abstracts will undergo analysis by two independent reviewers. Articles selected for a full-text review will be organised. The results will be presented in tables and narratively summarised.

ETHICS AND DISSEMINATION

Ethics approval and patient consent for publication are not necessary. Findings will be disseminated through publication in scientific journals and through conference presentations.

Development of a mobile application for health education about sepsis

OBJECTIVE

To develop and validate a mobile application for health education about sepsis.

METHOD

Methodological study composed of two stages. Firstly, information from the Latin American Sepsis Institute and Global Sepsis Alliance was used, followed by putting together, design and layout of the application, according to the agile development model proposed by Sommerville. In the second stage, content validation occurred with 20 health professionals with expertise in the areas of intensive care and sepsis, from the use of the Instrument for Validation of Educational Content in Health through analyzing objectives, structure and relevance; and it was considered valid the item with a minimum agreement of 80%, by binomial test.

RESULTS

The app presents 15 screens that encompass prevention measures, recognition and early identification of sepsis, illustrated by interactive images. Out of the 18 items evaluated in the validation process, the minimum agreement obtained was 0.95 and the average validation index was 0.99.

CONCLUSION

The application was developed and considered valid by the referees regarding contents. Thus, it is an important technological resource for health education in prevention and early identification of sepsis.

DESENVOLVIMENTO DE APLICATIVO PARA APOIAR O RACIOCÍNIO DIAGNÓSTICO DO ENFERMEIRO NO CUIDADO AO PACIENTE CIRÚRGICO

RESUMO Objetivo: desenvolver um aplicativo móvel para apoiar o raciocínio diagnóstico do enfermeiro no cuidado ao paciente cirúrgico Método: trata-se de uma pesquisa aplicada com produção tecnológica realizada num hospital da região metropolitana do Espírito Santo no período de setembro de 2018 a dezembro de 2019. O estudo foi dividido em quatro etapas: elaboração de conteúdo teórico através da realização de revisão integrativa de literatura dos principais sinais e sintomas observados em pacientes no pós-operatório de cirurgias gastrointestinais, torácicas, de cabeça e pescoço, e mapeamento cruzado entre os sinais e sintomas encontrados na revisão de literatura e os diagnósticos de enfermagem da NANDA Internacional; desenvolvimento de 10 estudos de caso que simulam situações clínico-cirúrgicas elaborados de acordo com os diagnósticos de enfermagem mapeados conforme referencial de Lunney; avaliação dos estudos de caso por especialistas utilizando índice de validade de conteúdo; e construção do aplicativo em parceria com especialista em design gráfico pelo método do Design Centrado no Usuário. Resultados: o aplicativo “CuidarTech® Cirúrgico”, apresenta quatro opções de navegação: 1) “Processo de Enfermagem” 0 exibe conteúdos teóricos; 2) “Diagnósticos e ações de enfermagem” - com diagnósticos e intervenções de enfermagem para assistência a pacientes em período pós-operatório de cirurgias gastrointestinais, torácicas, de cabeça e pescoço; 3) “Estudos de caso” - traz 10 estudos validados para treinamento do raciocínio clínico; e 4) “Créditos” - equipe executora. Conclusão: o aplicativo é uma tecnologia inédita e constitui um suporte interativo na assistência e ensino do processo de enfermagem e do raciocínio clínico do enfermeiro.

DIFFUSION OF INNOVATIONS THEORY AND ITS APPLICABILITY IN RESEARCH STUDIES ON NURSING AND HEALTH

ABSTRACT Objective to reflect on the Diffusion of Innovations Theory, as a theoretical-methodological framework for research studies on Nursing and Health. Method a reflective study, based on the principles and concepts of the Diffusion of Innovations Theory as a theoretical-methodological framework, and its applicability in studies on innovations in health. Results using the framework enables the conduction of studies encompassing qualitative, quantitative and mixed approaches, applicable for the identification of the need for innovation in the elaboration, design, implementation, evaluation and adjustment of the innovations. The diffusion process evaluation through the elements of innovation, time, social systems and communication channels enables apprehending contributing factors for the success of a given innovation. Conclusion the theoretical perspective herein presented offers conceptual grounds to apprehend the process corresponding to the diffusion of innovations in the health field, through sensitive models and evaluation and elaboration of diffusion processes suitable for various contexts.

APPLICATION DEVELOPMENT TO SUPPORT THE DIAGNOSIS OF NURSES IN THE CARE OF SURGICAL PATIENTS

ABSTRACT Objective: to develop a mobile application to support nurses’ diagnostic reasoning in the care of surgical patients Method: this is applied research with technological production, carried out in a hospital in the metropolitan region of Espírito Santo, from September 2018 to December 2019. The study was divided into four stages: theoretical content elaboration through an integrative literature review of the main signs and symptoms observed in patients in the postoperative period of gastrointestinal, thoracic, head and neck surgeries, and cross-mapping between the signs and symptoms found in the literature review and NANDA International nursing diagnoses; development of 10 case studies that foster clinical and surgical situations elaborated according to nursing diagnoses mapped according to Lunney’s framework; assessment of case studies by experts using content validity index; and application construction in partnership with a graphic design expert by the User-Centered Design method. Results: the application CuidarTech®Cirúrgico presents four navigation options: 1) “Nursing Process” - displays theoretical contents; 2) “Nursing diagnoses and actions” - with nursing diagnoses and interventions to assist patients in the postoperative period of gastrointestinal, thoracic, head and neck surgeries; 3) “Case studies” - brings 10 validated studies to training clinical reasoning; and 4) “Credits” - executing team. Conclusion: the application is an unprecedented technology and constitutes an interactive support in the care and teaching of nurses’ Nursing Process and clinical reasoning.
