[Effects of COVID-19 on the central nervous system]

[Asthenia in young patients and possibilities for its correction]

OBJECTIVE

To investigate the effect of using the drug Brainmax on various manifestations of asthenic syndrome.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

30 patients, average age 29 years (20-44 years) took part in the study. The duration of treatment was 15 days. Subjective indicators on the asthenic state scale, hospital anxiety and depression scale, daytime sleepiness scale, as well as objective indicators of the corrective test were analysed.

RESULTS

It was found that after treating patients with Brainmax, the severity of asthenic syndrome, anxiety, and depression significantly decreased, the quality of sleep increased, and the results of the correction test improved.

CONCLUSION

The drug Brainmax can be recommended for the correction of asthenic syndrome in patients with functional diseases of the nervous system.

Correction of Psychoemotional Disorders and Short-Term Prognosis in Patients with COVID-19

This review discusses the importance of the main psychoemotional risk factors for the development of chronic noncommunicable diseases. Current data on the prevalence of anxiety and depressive disorders in patients with cardiovascular disease (CVD) are presented. Data on the relationship between the development of psychoemotional disorders and CVD are summarized and the prospects for managing such patients within the framework of interdisciplinary cooperation are discussed. The main pathogenetic mechanisms for the development of complications, including CNS damage in COVID-19, are considered. The significance of the selection of pathogenetic therapy for patients with comorbid somatic and mental diseases in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic is discussed. Results from multicenter placebo-controlled studies of the use of fluvoxamine in patients with COVID-19 of varying severity are addressed.

[The state of cognitive functions in patients with coronavirus infection in the acute period of the disease (outbreaks in 2020-2022)]

OBJECTIVE

To assess the state of cognitive functions in patients in the acute period of coronavirus infection with pneumonia during periods of hospitalization in 2020-2022.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study included 3 groups of people of different ages. The first and second groups are inpatients in the acute period of coronavirus infection with viral pneumonia during treatment in a hospital in Krasnoyarsk. Group 1 was hospitalized in the period December 2020 - March 2021. The second group was hospitalized in the period November 2021 - January 2022. The control group consisted of clinically healthy individuals. MMSE, MoCA, FAB, CDT were used to assess the neuropsychological status. Anxiety and depression were assessed using HADS. Patients in the groups were tested on the first day after stabilization of the condition, then again for discharge or transfer to another hospital. The control group was tested once.

RESULTS

Statically significant cognitive impairments were detected in patients with coronavirus infection with viral pneumonia in the acute period of the disease, both at admission and at discharge, compared with the control group. Patients admitted for the period December 2020 - March 2021 had more pronounced cognitive impairment than patients admitted for the period November 2021 - January 2022. Anxiety and depression were not detected on HADS.

CONCLUSION

Coronavirus infection with viral pneumonia causes cognitive impairment in patients in the acute period of the disease. The severity of changes of cognitive functions was different depending on outbreaks of infection, which may probably be due to a mutation of the virus for the period 2020-2022.

[Efficiency of the application of miorelaxants in lower cross myofascial syndrome]

OBJECTIVE

To evaluate the efficacy of the drug Tolperisone (Calmirex) in patients with inferior cross syndrome against the background of standard therapy.

MATERIAL AND METHODS

The study involved male and female patients aged 25-55 years with inferior cross syndrome. The main research method was clinical, which was supplemented by biomechanical examination and the use of scales and questionnaires (VAS, Oswestry, McGill).

RESULTS AND CONCLUSION

The effectiveness of the use of muscle relaxants in the treatment of the lower cross syndrome has been studied and proved with the identification of the most reliable and effective methods for correcting this pathology. Post-covid-19 neurological syndromes

The article highlights the pathogenesis, clinical manifestations of lesions of the central and peripheral nervous system that have arisen or persist in patients in the postcoid period (Long-COVID-19). Their correct assessment, the use of effective methods of complex treatment, targeted neurorehabilitation contribute to the reversibility of functional disorders, prevention, reduction of disability, improvement of quality of life indicators, prevention of the progression of cognitive, emotional, behavioral disorders initiated by SARS-CoV-2.
