Abstract
Central retinal artery occlusion (CRAO) is a serious eye condition that poses a risk to vision, resulting from the blockage of the central retinal artery. Because of the anatomical connection between the ocular artery, which derives from the internal carotid artery, and the anterior middle cerebral artery, hemodynamic alterations and sudden vision loss associated with CRAO may impact brain functionality. This study aimed to examine alterations in spontaneous neural activity among patients with CRAO by resting-state functional MRI. In addition, we selected the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) and fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) values as classification features for distinguishing CRAO from healthy controls (HCs) using a support vector machine classifier. A total of 18 patients diagnosed with CRAO and 18 HCs participated in the study. Resting-state brain function images and structural images were acquired from both groups. Aberrant changes in spontaneous brain functional activity among CRAO patients were investigated utilizing ALFF and fALFF analysis methods. Group differences in ALFF/fALFF values were assessed through a two-sample t-test. Subsequently, a machine learning classifier was developed to evaluate the clinical diagnostic potential of ALFF and fALFF values. In comparison to HCs, individuals with CRAO exhibited significantly higher ALFF values in the left cerebellum_6, vermis_7, left superior frontal gyrus, and left inferior frontal gyrus, triangular part. Conversely, the CRAO group displayed notably lower ALFF values in the left precuneus and left median cingulum gyri. Furthermore, higher fALFF values were observed in the left inferior frontal gyrus, triangular part, whereas lower fALFF values were noted in the right cerebellum_Crus2, left precuneus, right angular gyrus, left angular gyrus, right supramarginal gyrus, right superior parietal gyrus, and left precuneus. Utilizing the ALFF/fALFF values, the receiver operating characteristic curves (area under the curve) yielded 0.99 and 0.94 through machine learning analysis techniques. CRAO patients exhibit atypical neural activity in the brain, characterized by ALFF and fALFF values predominantly localized in the frontal, parietal, and cerebellar regions, which are closely linked to visual cognition and motor control impairments. Furthermore, ALFF and fALFF could serve as potential neuroimaging markers beyond the orbit among CRAO.

Abstract
There is growing evidence that the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) changes in breast cancer patients after chemotherapy. However, longitudinal changes in ALFF during chemotherapy are unclear. To assess the trajectory of ALFF changes during chemotherapy, 36 breast cancer patients underwent both resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging and neuropsychological testing at three time points, including before neoadjuvant chemotherapy (NAC) (time point 0, TP0), after one cycle of NAC (before the second cycle of NAC, TP1), and upon completion of NAC (pre-operation, TP2). Healthy controls (HC) received the same assessments at matching time points. We compared the longitudinal changes of ALFF in the NAC and two HC groups. In the NAC group, compared with TP0, ALFF values in the right orbital part of the inferior frontal gyrus, left medial orbital part of the superior frontal gyrus, right insula, left medial part of the superior frontal gyrus, and right middle frontal gyrus declined significantly at TP1 and TP2. Compared with TP1, there were no significant changes in ALFF values at TP2. In the two HC groups, there were no significant changes in ALFF at corresponding intervals. We concluded that for breast cancer patients receiving NAC, ALFF values declined significantly in some brain regions after one cycle of NAC and then remained stable until the completion of NAC, and most of the brain regions with ALFF changes were located in the frontal lobe.

Abstract
Purpose This study aimed to explore the spontaneous brain activity in patients with diabetic optic neuropathy (DON) by using the amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) technique. Methods Sixteen DON patients and 16 age- and sex-matched healthy controls (HCs) were recruited. ALFF along with functional MRI method was used to detect the intrinsic brain activity alterations. The mean values of ALFF in DON patients and HCs were analyzed by receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves. Pearson's correlation analysis was used to determine the correlation between Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale (HADS) and ALFF values of DONs. Results The DON group showed significantly increased ALFF values in the fusiform gyrus, and decreased ALFF values in the medial frontal gyrus/left frontal superior orbit/right frontal medial orbit, and left frontal inferior triangle. ROC curve analysis indicated that the accuracy of AUC was good. The anxiety scale and depression scale of the DON group were negatively correlated with the ALFF values of the medial frontal gyrus. Conclusion DON is a neurodegenerative disease involving multiple brain regions. The abnormal activity of neurons in these brain regions helps to reveal the underlying neural mechanisms of brain activity related to DON.

Abstract
BackgroundTo date, no in-depth study has been conducted on the intrinsic pathological relationship between altered brain activity and related behavioral changes in patients with orbital fracture (OF).PurposeThe present research aimed to explore the potential functional network cerebrum activities in patients with OF using resting state functional magnetic resonance imaging–fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (rsfMRI-fALFF). This technique can reveal dynamic functional changes in specific cerebrum areas.MethodsTwenty patients with OF and 20 healthy controls (HCs) were included, closely matched in terms of gender, age, weight, and education level. To record spontaneous cerebral activity changes, the rsfMRI-fALFF tool was applied. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves and Pearson's correlation analysis were used to analyze mean fALFF values in specific cerebrum regions and to explore changes of behavioral changes in patients with OF. The Hospital Depression and Anxiety scale was applied to reveal the relationship between emotional states and fALFF values of the right superior temporal gyrus in patients with OF.ResultsIn comparison with HCs, significantly lower fALFF values were detected in the left anterior cingulate gyrus (LACG) and right superior temporal gyrus (RSTG) in patients with OF. ROC curve analysis showed excellent accuracy. The mean fALFF values of the RSTG negatively correlated with the depression score as well as the anxiety score.ConclusionThe finding of abnormal spontaneous activities in cerebral regions may contribute to more comprehensive understanding of the potential neural network changes in patients with OF. The changes of fALFF value in patients with OF may help to gauge their emotional changes and clinical recovery levels.

Abstract
Objective: To investigate the changes of amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (ALFF) in brain regions of patients with hypertensive retinopathy by using resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) and change in the relationship of ALFF value with potential emotional and psychological changes. Methods: Thirty-one patients with hypertensive retinopathy (HR) (16 men and 15 women) and 31 healthy controls (HCs; 16 men and 15 women) matched for age, sex, and weight were enrolled in the research. The changes in mean ALFF values could reflect brain activity between HR patients and HCs. We used the independent samples t-test to evaluate different demographic and general information between the two groups. Two-sample t-test was used to detect differences of mean ALFF values in the brain region between the two groups using the same software. Results: The ALFF values in the brain areas of HR and HCs were different. HR patients had lower ALFF value in the left medial superior frontal gyrus and left middle frontal gyrus than the HCs. The higher ALFF values were found in the cerebellum (left inferior and right superior lobes, vermis) and left inferior temporal gyrus of the HR patients than the controls. Conclusion: Our findings showed fluctuations in ALFF values in the HR patients’ brain regions. ALFF values reflect over or reduced activity in brain regions. Abnormal ALFF values in these brain areas can predict early HR development, preventing the malignant transformation of hypertensive microangiopathy.
