Abstract
Background: In infants presenting with motor development impairment, early kinesiotherapeutic interventions aim to normalise the pattern of movements and improve recovery. By applying Bobath and Vojta methods, we aimed to identify a combined approach regarding motor deficit in infants with neurological disabilities. Methods: We designed a prospective interventional study on 108 infants with motor developmental delay and applied Bobath, Vojta, or combined Bobath and Vojta therapy in three equal groups. Results: In the combined Bobath and Vojta group, complete motor recovery was achieved for 50% of the participants, with full recovery after six months, whereas in Bobath- or Vojta-only therapy groups, the total recovery for all participants was achieved at seven months. Regarding infants with muscular hypertonia, Bobath therapy initiation demonstrated complete recovery in 5 months in more than 50% of the cases, while for Vojta this was achieved in only 33.57% of the cases. Conclusions: The comparative evaluation conducted by analysing the data regarding the application of the Bobath and Vojta methods showed that combining these two therapies results in a shorter motor deficit recovery time than if a single therapy is applied. These findings have important implications for the selection of rehabilitation therapies in infants with neurological motor development issues.

Abstract
Preterm premature rupture of the membranes (PPROM) at the limit of viability is associated with low neonatal survival rates and a high rate of neonatal complications in survivors. It carries a major risk of maternal morbidity and mortality. The limit of viability can be defined as the earliest stage of fetal maturity when a fetus has a reasonable chance, although not a high likelihood, for extra-uterine survival. The study reviews available data on preventing preterm delivery caused by the previable PPROM, pregnancy latency, therapeutic options including the use of antibiotics and steroids, neonatal outcomes, and future directions and opportunities.

Abstract
Preterm premature rupture of membranes (PPROM) is almost uniformly associated with preterm birth and thus sequelae of prematurity explain many of the complications associated with this condition. However, the unique inflammatory environment and oligohydramnios associated with PPROM may impart unique neonatal and childhood morbidity compared with other preterm birth pathways.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To compare outcomes of hospitalized preterm infants following previable prelabour rupture of membranes (PPROM) at≤23 weeks of gestation. METHODS Retrospective cohort study of preterm infants admitted for intensive care, between January 2006 and December 2016 following PPROM, was conducted. Short term clinical outcomes included severity of respiratory morbidity, length of hospital stay and mortality. Neurodevelopment in survivors was assessed using Bayley's Scales of Infant Development (3rd edition) at 24 months corrected age. RESULTS A total of 82 preterm infants were admitted following PPROM at < 23 weeks and were grouped as: Group 1 (n = 28) with PPROM < 20 weeks and Group 2 (n = 54) with PPROM between 20-22 + 6 weeks. Median latency following PPROM was significantly longer in Group 1 infants [69(Interquartile range (IQR): 43-74; Range (R): 25-100 vs. 29(IQR: 10-53; R: 2-72) days, p < 0.001]. Median gestation at delivery was 27.4 weeks (Group 1) vs. 25.1 weeks (Group 2). Group 1 had a significantly higher incidence of oligohydramnios [13(46.4%) vs. 8(14.8%), p = 0.002], lower Apgar scores (<7) at 5 minutes [19(67.9%) vs. 24(44.4%), p = 0.044], increased pulmonary hypoplasia [13(46.4%) vs. 5(9.3%), p < 0.001], joint contractures [3(10.7%) vs. 0, p = 0.037] and mortality [10(35.7%) vs. 7(13.0%), p = 0.016]. Neurodevelopmental outcomes at 24 months corrected age were comparable in the 36 surviving infants (9/18 vs. 27/547). CONCLUSION Morbidity and mortality is high in infants born after previable PPROM; specifically, in those with PPROM < 20 weeks although early childhood neurodevelopmental outcomes were comparable. Larger prospective studies focussing on long term neonatal outcomes are needed to confirm these findings.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the association between bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and the risk of cerebral palsy (CP) in children. DATA SOURCES We used EMBASE, PubMed and Web of Science to conduct a meta-analysis of studies published before 1 September 2017, written in English whose titles or abstracts discussed an association between BPD and CP. STUDY SELECTION Observational studies, for example, case-control and cohort studies were included. DATA EXTRACTION AND SYNTHESIS All review stages were conducted by two reviewers independently. Data synthesis was undertaken via meta-analysis of available evidence. MAIN OUTCOMES AND MEASURES The prevalence of developing CP was measured after exposure to BPD. RESULTS Among 1234 initially identified studies, we selected those that addressed an association between BPD and CP according to our preselected inclusion criteria. Our meta-analysis included 11 studies. According to a random effect model, BPD was significantly associated with CP (ORs 2.10; 95% CI 1.57 to 2.82) in preterm infants. Factors explaining differences in the study results included study design, the definition of BPD, the time of diagnosis of CP and whether the studies adjusted for potential confounders. CONCLUSION This study suggests that BPD is a risk factor for CP. Further studies are required to confirm these results and to detect the influence of variables across studies.

Abstract
CONTEXT Chorioamnionitis (CA) has often been linked etiologically to cerebral palsy (CP). OBJECTIVES To differentiate association from risk of CA in the development of CP. DATA SOURCES PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and bibliographies of original studies were searched by using the keywords (chorioamnionitis) AND ((cerebral palsy) OR brain). STUDY SELECTION Included studies had to have: (1) controls, (2) criteria for diagnoses, and (3) neurologic follow-up. Studies were categorized based on: (1) finding incidence of CP in a CA population, or risk of CP; and (2) incidence of CA in CP or association with CP. DATA EXTRACTION Two reviewers independently verified study inclusion and extracted data. RESULTS Seventeen studies (125 256 CA patients and 5 994 722 controls) reported CP in CA. There was significantly increased CP inpreterm histologic chorioamnionitis (HCA; risk ratio [RR] = 1.34, P < .01), but not in clinical CA (CCA). Twenty-two studies (2513 CP patients and 8135 controls) reported CA in CP. There was increased CCA (RR = 1.43, P < .01), but no increase in HCA in preterm CP. Increased HCA was found (RR = 4.26, P < .05), as well as CCA in term/near-term CP (RR = 3.06, P < .01). CONCLUSIONS The evidence for a causal or associative role of CA in CP is weak. Preterm HCA may be a risk factor for CP, whereas CCA is not. An association with term and preterm CP was found for CCA, but only with term CP for HCA.
