Abstract
Extensive research has made significant progress in exploring the potential application of extracellular vesicles (EV) in the diagnosis and treatment of osteoarthritis (OA). However, there is current a lack of study on bibliometrics. In this study, we completed a novel bibliometric analysis of EV research in OA over the past two decades. Specifically, we identified a total of 354 relevant publications obtained between January 1, 2003 and December 31, 2022. We also provided a description of the distribution information regarding the countries or regions of publication, institutions involved, journals, authors, citations, and keywords. The primary research focuses encompassed the role of extracellular vesicles in the diagnosis of OA, delivery of active ingredients, treatment strategies, and cartilage repair. These findings highlight the latest research frontiers and emerging areas, providing valuable insights for further investigations on the application of extracellular vesicles in the context of osteoarthritis.

Abstract
Introduction Extensive research efforts have been dedicated to elucidating the intricate pathways by which gastrointestinal microbiota and their metabolites exert influence on the processes of bone formation. Nonetheless, a notable gap exists in the literature concerning a bibliometric analysis of research trends at the nexus of gastrointestinal microbiota and bone metabolism. Methods To address this scholarly void, the present study employs a suite of bibliometric tools including online platforms, CiteSpace and VOSviewer to scrutinize the pertinent literature in the realm of gastrointestinal microbiota and bone metabolism. Results and discussion Examination of the temporal distribution of publications spanning from 2000 to 2023 reveals a discernible upward trajectory in research output, characterized by an average annual growth rate of 19.2%. Notably, China and the United States emerge as primary contributors. Predominant among contributing institutions are Emory University, Harvard University, and the University of California. Pacifici R from Emory University contributed the most research with 15 publications. In the realm of academic journals, Nutrients emerges as the foremost publisher, followed closely by Frontiers in Microbiology and PLOS One. And PLOS One attains the highest average citations of 32.48. Analysis of highly cited papers underscores a burgeoning interest in the therapeutic potential of probiotics or probiotic blends in modulating bone metabolism by augmenting host immune responses. Notably, significant research attention has coalesced around the therapeutic interventions of probiotics, particularly Lactobacillus reuteri, in osteoporosis, as well as the role of gastrointestinal microbiota in the etiology and progression of osteoarthritis. Keyword analysis reveals prevalent terms including gut microbiota, osteoporosis, bone density, probiotics, inflammation, SCFAs, metabolism, osteoarthritis, calcium absorption, obesity, double-blind, prebiotics, mechanisms, postmenopausal women, supplementation, risk factors, oxidative stress, and immune system. Future research endeavors warrant a nuanced exploration of topics such as inflammation, obesity, SCFAs, postmenopausal osteoporosis, skeletal muscle, oxidative stress, double-blind trials, and pathogenic mechanisms. In summary, this study presents a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of global research on the interplay between gastrointestinal microbiota and bone metabolism, offering valuable insights for scholars, particularly nascent researchers, embarking on analogous investigations within this domain.

Abstract
Introduction This study presents a global research scenario in the broad domain of osteoarthritis (OA) research, using quantitative and qualitative publication and citation indicators. Methods The study is based on 45,368 global publications, sourced from the Scopus bibliographical database, covering three decades (1994-2023). We studied the performance of the top 12 developed and top 12 developing countries. The key countries, organizations and authors at national and international levels were identified. The broad subject areas and key journals contributing to global OA research were delineated, besides identifying the broad characteristics of highly cited papers in the field. Results The United States and China were the most productive countries, while the Netherlands and Canada made the largest citation impact. Harvard Medical School and the University of Sydney made the most contribution, while Boston University and Pfizer Inc., USA registered the highest citation impact. Hunter DJ and Guermazi A were the most productive authors, while Lohmander LS, and Hochberg MC registered the highest citation impact. Osteoarthritis and Cartilage (n = 4879) and Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases (n = 786) published the maximum papers, while Arthritis and Rheumatism and Nature Reviews Rheumatology registered the largest citation impact. The highly cited papers with 100 or more citations constituted 6.25% of the total publications. Conclusions There has been a systematic growth of publications on OA. The research on OA was mainly done in developed countries, with the maximum publications coming from the United States of America, China and Canada. The most impactful publications on OA were from the Netherlands, Canada and the United States of America. Abstract
In the field of alopecia areata research, various focuses including risk factors, epidemiology, molecular pathways, and treatment were constantly improving. However, to date, a bibliometric analysis summarizing the research trend is not available to date. The main objective of this study was to provide researchers with an overview of the research trend on alopecia areata in the past two decades. In Web of Science database, screening and extraction of studies related to alopecia areata has been performed. Within studies related to alopecia areata, the most cited 100 studies were appraised and the information of articles, including the citation amounts, keywords and publication types, was extracted for analyses. On average, each study in the top 100 list was cited 104.72 times. Within the top 100 list, the most focused fields were on the management of alopecia areata (34%), molecular mechanisms (28%) and epidemiological issues (23%). Approximately one third of the management-associated studies focused on Janus kinase (JAK) inhibitors (10 studies) and 5 studies focused on the efficacy of corticosteroids for alopecia areata. According to the results of the keyword analysis, JAK inhibitors had become the most mentioned keywords in the field of alopecia areata research since 2016. The top 100 most referenced papers in the field of alopecia areata mostly focused on essential aspects such as treatment options, pathogenesis, risk factors, and comorbidities. The results of the current study could be considered a potential resource for future research and patient care information.

Abstract
Objective With the rapid advancement of Chat Generative Pre-Trained Transformer (ChatGPT) in medical research, our study aimed to identify global trends and focal points in this domain. Method All publications on ChatGPT in medical research were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) by Clarivate Analytics from January 1, 2023, to January 31, 2024. The research trends and focal points were visualized and analyzed using VOSviewer and CiteSpace. Results A total of 1,239 publications were collected and analyzed. The USA contributed the largest number of publications (458, 37.145%) with the highest total citation frequencies (2,461) and the largest H-index. Harvard University contributed the highest number of publications (33) among all full-time institutions. The Cureus Journal of Medical Science published the most ChatGPT-related research (127, 10.30%). Additionally, Wiwanitkit V contributed the majority of publications in this field (20). "Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML)," "Education and Training," "Healthcare Applications," and "Data Analysis and Technology" emerged as the primary clusters of keywords. These areas are predicted to remain hotspots in future research in this field. Conclusion Overall, this study signifies the interdisciplinary nature of ChatGPT research in medicine, encompassing AI and ML technologies, education and training initiatives, diverse healthcare applications, and data analysis and technology advancements. These areas are expected to remain at the forefront of future research, driving continued innovation and progress in the field of ChatGPT in medical research.

Abstract
Macrophages play a crucial role in aiding all phases of the wound-healing process and has garnered increasing attention recently. Although a substantial body of related studies has been published, there remains a lack of comprehensive bibliometric analysis. In this study, we collected 4296 papers from the Web of Science Core Collection database. Three tools including CiteSpace, VOSviewer and one online analytical platform were employed to conduct bibliometric analysis and data visualization. Our results revealed that the annual number of publications related to macrophage and wound healing has increased exponentially with the year. The United States and China stand as the primary driving forces within this field, collectively constituting 58.2% of the total publication output. The application of biomaterials was one of the most concerned research areas in this field. According to references analysis, the current research focus has shifted to diabetic wound healing and regulating macrophage polarization. Based on the keywords analysis, we identified the following research frontiers in the future: exosomes and other extracellular vesicles; bio-derived materials and drug delivery methods such as nanoparticles, scaffolds and hydrogels; immunomodulation and macrophage polarization in the M2-state; chronic wounds, particularly those associated with diabetes; antimicrobial peptides; and antioxidant. Additionally, TNF, IL-6, IL-10, TGF-β1 and VEGF ranked as the five genes that have garnered the most research attention in the intersection of macrophage and wound healing. All in all, our findings offered researchers a holistic view of the ongoing progress in the field of macrophages and wound healing, serving as a valuable reference for scholars and policymakers in this domain.

Abstract
BACKGROUND In response to the escalating prevalence of atrial fibrillation (AF) and its potential correlation with cognitive impairment and dementia, we conducted a comprehensive bibliometric analysis to assess current research trends, contributors, and collaborative networks in this evolving interdisciplinary field. MATERIAL AND METHODS Articles published between 2002 and 2022 were extracted from the Web of Science database and carefully screened, yielding 328 publications. Two reviewers independently conducted the screening and quality appraisal. We employed sophisticated tools such as CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and Bibliometrix (R-Studio's R tool) to succinctly summarize and thoroughly analyze the publications. RESULTS A total of 328 publications, comprising 262 papers and 66 reviews, were included in the final analysis. The number of publications exhibited a consistent year-on-year increase, demonstrating an average annual growth rate of 20.57%. These publications originated from 41 countries and regions, with the highest contributions observed from the United States, United Kingdom, Italy, and China. Notably, the University of Liverpool emerged as the most prolific institution, while the most prolific author was Lip GYH from the United Kingdom. The journal with the most publications is the journal of the American Heart Association (19 articles). The most popular keywords in order were: risk and stroke (n=101), dementia (n=100), decline (n=70), prevalence (n=67), and Alzheimer's disease. CONCLUSIONS This study shows the current research status and emerging trends in atrial fibrillation's link to dementia and cognitive impairment. It highlights global growth and collaboration patterns while offering a comprehensive view of their interrelationship, pointing toward future research directions.

Abstract
Background Osteoarthritis (OA) is a common disease in geriatric rehabilitation medicine caused by the progressive destruction of articular cartilage. Traditional Chinese exercise (TCE) is an important component of traditional sports in China and aims to stretch the musculoskeletal tract and relieve joint pain. Bibliometrics can help researchers find suitable partners and understand the research hotspots and trends in a certain field. However, there is still a lack of bibliometric analysis in the field of TCE and OA. Methods All the literature was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database. The last search was performed on July 28, 2023. The bibliometric indicators, such as publications, citations, and H-index, were recorded. Bibliometrix and CiteSpace were used for visualization analysis. In addition, randomized controlled trials were included to summarize the exercise prescription of TCE for OA. Results A total of 170 articles were included. The field of OA with TCE had great development potential and was in the rising period. The countries, institutions, and authors with the most publications were the United States, Tufts Medical Center, and Harvey WF, respectively. The most popular journal was Osteoarthritis and Cartilage. The recent burst keywords in this field were mainly "hip", "pilot", and "risk". Tai Chi was the most studied TCE with the most detailed content of exercise prescription, followed by Baduanjin and Wuqinxi. Conclusion Our study provides a basis for researchers in this field to choose appropriate partner and academic journals. Moreover, pain, muscle strength, and quality of life management of elderly OA patients are research hotspots in this field. The intervention of hip OA risk through TCE is expected to become a research direction for emerging teams. The TCE prescription we summarized can better provide researchers with more treatment details.

Abstract
Objective The purpose of this study was to investigate the current research status, focus areas, and developmental trends in the field of Myelin oligodendrocyte glycoprotein antibody-associated disease (MOGAD) through an analysis of scientific literature. Methods The relevant research articles on MOGAD published from 1947 to 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science database. The quantitative output of MOGAD related research articles, their distribution by country/region, data on collaborative publishing, influential authors, high-yield institutions, keywords, hotspots, and development trends were analyzed. Additionally, visual knowledge maps were generated using VOSviewer and Citespace. Results There has been a steady increase in the number of MOGAD related publications indicating that the subject has garnered increasing interest among researchers globally. The United States has been the leading contributor with 496 papers (19.25%), followed by China (244, 9.63%), Japan (183, 7.10%), the United Kingdom (154, 5.98%), and Germany (149, 5.78%). Among these countries, the United Kingdom boasts the highest citation frequency at the rate of 46.49 times per paper. Furthermore, active collaboration in MOGAD related research is observed primarily between the United States and countries such as Canada, Germany, Australia, Italy, the United Kingdom and Japan. Mayo Clinic ranks first in total articles published (109) and frequency of citations per article (77.79). Takahashi Toshiyuki from Tohoku University is the most prolific author, while Multiple Sclerosis and Related Disorders is the most widely read journal in this field. "Disease Phenotype", "Treatment", "Novel Coronavirus Infection and Vaccination", "Immunopathological Mechanisms", "Clinical characteristics of children" and "Prognosis" are the primary keywords clusters in this field. "Novel Coronavirus Infection and Vaccination" and "Immunopathological Mechanisms" are research hotspots and have great development potential. Conclusion The past three decades have witnessed a significant expansion of research on MOGAD. The pathogenetic mechanism of MOGAD is poised to be the prominent research focus in this field in the foreseeable future.

Abstract
The robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty has gained increasing attention in the research field. To date, no comprehensive bibliometric analysis has been carried out on this topic. The present study aimed to introduce the research status and hotspots and explore the field of robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty from a bibliometric perspective. The Web of Science Core Collection database was utilized to retrieve articles and reviews on robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty published between 1993 and 2023. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Scimago Graphica, Pajek, and a bibliometric online analysis platform (http://bibliometric.com/) were employed to analyze the regions, institutions, journals, authors, and keywords, aiming to predict the latest trends in research related to robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty. This study encompasses 697 records. The annual publication count pertaining to robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty demonstrates consistent growth. The United States leads with the highest number of studies (298), trailed by the United Kingdom (110) and France (49). The Hospital for Special Surgery emerges as the most prolific institution, while Professor Mont, Michael A holds significant author influence. The Journal of Arthroplasty reigns supreme in this field, boasting the highest publication and citation figures. Funding sources predominantly include Stryker (34), Smith Nephew (19), and the National Natural Science Foundation of China (17). Noteworthy research themes within robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty encompass patient satisfaction, kinematic alignment, and clinical benefits. The landscape of robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty research is thriving. Anticipated trajectories of research will be geared toward refining the precision of robotic technology and enhancing clinical outcomes within the realm of robotic-assisted knee arthroplasty.

Abstract
Background Microglia has gradually gained researchers' attention in the past few decades and has shown its promising prospect in treating neuropathic pain. Our study was performed to comprehensively evaluate microglia-related neuropathic pain via a bibliometric approach. Methods We retrospectively reviewed publications focusing on microglia-related neuropathic pain from 2000 to 2021 in WoSCC. VOS viewer software and CiteSpace software were used for statistical analyses. Results A total of 2,609 articles were finally included. A steady increase in the number of relevant publications was observed in the past two decades. China is the most productive country, while the United States shares the most-cited and highest H-index country. The University of London, Kyushu University, and the University of California are the top 3 institutions with the highest number of publications. Molecular pain and Pain are the most productive and co-cited journals, respectively. Inoue K (Kyushu University) is the most-contributed researcher and Ji RR (Duke University) ranks 1st in both average citations per article and H-index. Keywords analyses revealed that pro-inflammatory cytokines shared the highest burst strength. Sex differences, neuroinflammation, and oxidative stress are the emerging keywords in recent years. Conclusion In the field of microglia-related neuropathic pain, China is the largest producer and the United States is the most influential country. The signaling communication between microglia and neurons has continued to be vital in this field. Sexual dimorphism, neuroinflammation, and stem-cell therapies might be emerging trends that should be closely monitored.

Abstract
Pain, the primary symptom of osteoarthritis (OA), reduces both the quality and quantity of life for patients. The pathophysiology of OA pain is complex and often difficult to explain solely by radiological structural changes. One reason for this discrepancy is pain sensitization (peripheral sensitization [PS] and central sensitization [CS]) in OA. Thus, an understanding of pain sensitization is important when considering treatment strategies and development for OA pain. In recent years, pro-inflammatory cytokines, nerve growth factors (NGFs), and serotonin have been identified as causative agents that induce peripheral and central sensitization and are becoming therapeutic targets for OA pain. However, the characteristics of the clinical manifestations of pain sensitization elicited by these molecules remain unclear, and it is not well understood who among OA patients should receive the therapeutic intervention. Thus, this review summarizes evidence on the pathophysiology of peripheral and central sensitization in OA pain and the clinical features and treatment options for this condition. While the majority of the literature supports the existence of pain sensitization in chronic OA pain, clinical identification and treatment of pain sensitization in OA are still in their infancy, and future studies with good methodological quality are needed.

Abstract
Background: The role of subchondral bone in the pathogenesis of osteoarthritis has received continuous attention worldwide. To date, no comprehensive bibliometric analysis of this topic has been carried out. The purpose of this study was to investigate the knowledge landscape, hot spots, and research trends in subchondral bone research through bibliometrics. Methods: Web of Science Core Collection database was used to collect articles and reviews on subchondral bone in osteoarthritis published between 2003 and 2022. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, Scimago Graphica, and a bibliometric online analysis platform (http://bibliometric.com/) were used to visualize the knowledge network of countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in this field. Both curve fitting and statistical plotting were performed using OriginPro, while correlation analysis was done using SPSS. Results: A total of 3,545 articles and reviews were included. The number of publications on subchondral bone showed an exponential growth trend. The US produced the most (980), followed by China (862) and the United Kingdom (364). Scientific output and gross domestic product were significantly correlated (r = .948, p < .001). The University of California System and Professor Pelletier Jean-Pierre were the most prolific institutions and influential authors, respectively. The most active and influential journal for subchondral bone research was Osteoarthritis and Cartilage. The majority of papers were financed by NSFC (474, 13.4%), followed by HHS (445, 12.6%), and NIH (438, 12.4%). In recent years, hot keywords have focused on the research of pathomechanisms (e.g., inflammation, apoptosis, pathogenesis, cartilage degeneration/repair, angiogenesis, TGF beta) and therapeutics (e.g., regeneration, stromal cell, mesenchymal stem cell). Conclusion: Subchondral bone research in osteoarthritis is flourishing. Current topics and next research trends would be centered on the pathomechanisms of cellular and molecular interactions in the subchondral bone microenvironment in the development of osteoarthritis and the exploration of targeted treatment medicines for the altered subchondral bone microenvironment.
