Abstract
Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have important research value and broad application prospects in cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). However, few bibliometric analyses on MSCs in cardiovascular diseases are available. This study aims to provide a thorough review of the cooperation and influence of countries, institutions, authors, and journals in the field of MSCs in cardiovascular diseases, with the provision of discoveries in the latest progress, evolution paths, frontier research hotspots, and future research trends in the regarding field. Methods The articles related to MSCs in cardiovascular diseases were retrieved from the Web of Science. The bibliometric study was performed by CiteSpace and VOSviewer, and the knowledge map was generated based on data obtained from retrieved articles. Results In our study, a total of 4,852 publications launched before August 31, 2023 were accessed through the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database via our searching strategy. Significant fluctuations in global publications were observed in the field of MSCs in CVDs. China emerged as the nation with the largest number of publications, yet a shortage of high-quality articles was noted. The interplay among countries, institutions, journals and authors is visually represented in the enclosed figures. Importantly, current research trends and hotspots are elucidated. Cluster analysis on references has highlighted the considerable interest in exosomes, extracellular vesicles, and microvesicles. Besides, keywords analysis revealed a strong emphasis on myocardial infarction, therapy, and transplantation. Treatment methods-related keywords were prominent, while keywords associated with extracellular vesicles gathered significant attention from the long-term perspective. Conclusion MSCs in CVDs have become a topic of active research interest, showcasing its latent value and potential. By summarizing the latest progress, identifying the research hotspots, and discussing the future trends in the advancement of MSCs in CVDs, we aim to offer valuable insights for considering research prospects.

Abstract
Endothelial and epithelial barrier dysfunction due to increased permeability and heightened inflammatory reactions influences the emergence of acute lung injury (ALI) and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). Nevertheless, bibliometric research comparing endothelial and epithelial barriers is limited. Therefore, this bibliometric study analyzed the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) of the Science Citation Index Expanded literature to explore present research priorities and development tendencies within this field. We conducted a comprehensive search (October 18, 2023) on WoSCC from January 1, 2010, to October 18, 2023, focusing on articles related to endothelial and epithelial barriers in ALI and ARDS. Retrieved data were visualized and analyzed using R-bibliometrix, VOS viewer 1.6.19, and CiteSpace 6.2. R4. Functional enrichment analysis of gene targets identified in the keyword list using Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and Gene ontology databases, and based on the STRING database to construct a PPI network to predict core genes. A total of 941 original articles and reviews were identified. The United States had the highest number of publications and citations and the highest H-index and G-index. According to the Collaboration Network Analysis graph, the United States and China had the strongest collaboration. Birukova AA had the most publications and citations among all authors, while eight of the top ten institutions with mediator centrality were located in the United States. The American Journal of Physiology-Lung Cellular and Molecular Physiology was the leading journal and had the most well-established publication on endothelial and epithelial barriers in ALI and ARDS. Bibliometric analysis revealed that the most frequently used keywords were acute lung injury, ARDS, activation, expression, and inflammation. RHOA appeared most frequently among gene-related keywords, and the PI3K-AKT signaling pathway had the highest count in KEGG pathway enrichment. Research on endothelial versus epithelial barriers in ALI and ARDS remains preliminary. This bibliometric study examined cooperative network connections among countries, authors, journals, and network associations in the cited references. Investigation of the functions of the endothelial and epithelial barriers in ALI/ARDS associated with COVID-19 has recently gained significant attention.

Abstract
Background Extensive research on cluster headaches (CHs) has been conducted worldwide; however, there is currently no bibliometric research on CHs. Therefore, this study aimed to analyze the current research hotspots and frontiers of CHs over the past decade. Methods Raw data on CHs was obtained from the Web of Science Core Collection database from 2014 to 2023. CiteSpace V6.2 R7 (64 bit) and Microsoft Excel were used to assess the annual publication volume, authors, countries, and references. VOSviewer 1.6.19 software was used to assess the institutions, cited authors, and keywords, and co-occurrence and clustering functions were applied to draw a visual knowledge map. Results In the past decade, the overall annual publication volume of articles related to CHs has increased year by year, showing promising development prospects. The total 1909 articles contained six types of literature, among which the proportion of original research articles was the highest (1,270 articles, 66.53%), published in 201 journals. Cephalalgia (439 articles, 23.00%) had the highest publication volume, and the Lancet was the journal with the highest impact factor (IF = 168.9). Furthermore, the United States of America was the country with the most published papers (584 articles, 30.60%), University of London was the research institution with the most published papers (142 articles, 7.44%), and Goodsby, Peter J was found to be the most prolific author (38 articles, 1.99%). Conclusion This study may provide some direction for subsequent researcher on CHs. The hotspots and frontiers of future research on CHs are suggested as follows: in basic medicine, more attention should be paid to pathophysiology, especially on increasing research on the pathogenesis mediated by CGRP; in clinical medicine, more attention should be paid to the design of evidence-based medicine methodology, especially the strict design, including double-blind, questionnaire, and follow-up, in randomized controlled trials, using high-quality articles for meta-analyses, and recommending high-level evidence; therapeutic techniques need to be further explored, suggesting the implementation of transcranial magnetic stimulation of the cortex, and stimulation of the sphinopalatine ganglia and occipital nerve to achieve peripheral neuromodulation. Furthermore, chronic migraine and insomnia are inextricably linked to CHs.

Abstract
Methods Related studies on PD and ferroptosis were searched in Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) from inception to 2023. VOSviewer, CiteSpace, RStudio, and Scimago Graphica were employed as bibliometric analysis tools to generate network maps about the collaborations between authors, countries, and institutions and to visualize the co-occurrence and trends of co-cited references and keywords. Results A total of 160 original articles and reviews related to PD and ferroptosis were retrieved, produced by from 958 authors from 162 institutions. Devos David was the most prolific author, with 9 articles. China and the University of Melbourne had leading positions in publication volume with 84 and 12 publications, respectively. Current hot topics focus on excavating potential new targets for treating PD based on ferroptosis by gaining insight into specific molecular mechanisms, including iron metabolism disorders, lipid peroxidation, and imbalanced antioxidant regulation. Clinical studies aimed at treating PD by targeting ferroptosis remain in their preliminary stages. Conclusion A continued increase was shown in the literature within the related field over the past decade. The current study suggested active collaborations among authors, countries, and institutions. Research into the pathogenesis and treatment of PD based on ferroptosis has remained a prominent topic in the field in recent years, indicating that ferroptosis-targeted therapy is a potential approach to halting the progression of PD.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION The gut-liver axis has emerged as a focal point in chronic liver disorders, prompting more research into the role of the gut microbiota in liver cirrhosis. In individuals with liver cirrhosis, changes in the structure and function of the gut microbiota are closely tied to clinical prognosis. However, there is a scarcity of bibliometric evaluations conducted in this particular field. METHODS This study is aiming to conduct a complete analysis of the knowledge structure and centers pertaining to gut microbiota in liver cirrhosis using bibliometric methods. Publications on gut microbiota and liver cirrhosis from 2001 to 2023 are sourced from the Web of Science Core Collection. For the bibliometric analysis, we employ VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix". RESULTS Our study encompasses a comprehensive collection of 3109 articles originating from 96 countries, with notable contributions from leading nations such as the United States and China. The quantity of publications concerning the gut microbiota of liver cirrhosis rises annually. The University of California San Diego, Virginia Commonwealth University, Zhejiang University are the primary research institutions. World Journal of Gastroenterology publishes the most papers in this field, while hepatology is the most frequently co-cited journal. These publications come from a total of 15,965 authors, and the most prolific authors are Bajaj Jasmohan S., Schnabl Bernd and Gillevet Patrick M., while the most co-cited authors are Bajaj Jasmohan S., Younossi Zobair M., and Reiner Wiest. In addition, "dysbiosis", "gut microbiota", "intestinal barrier", "fecal microbiota transplantation", and "complement-system" are the primary keywords of research trends in recent years. DISCUSSION This study offering a comprehensive insight into the research dynamics surrounding gut microbiota in patients with liver cirrhosis. It delineates the current research frontiers and hotspots, serving as a valuable guide for scholars.

Abstract
PURPOSE The purpose of this study is to identify and characterize the literature on surgical smoke, visualize the data and sketch a certain trending outline. METHODS In the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC), all the data were acquired from January 1st 2003 to December 31st 2022. VOSviewer and CiteSpace were employed to visualize data, based on publications, bibliographic coupling, co-citation, or co-authorship relations. Microsoft Excel 2019 was used to comb and categorize all the statistics. RESULT A total 363 of journal papers were retrieved. The publication number was in a slow but steady growth between 2003 and 2019, followed by a sharp surge in 2020, and then the publication kept in a productive way. Surgical endoscopy and other interventional techniques was the most active journal on surgical smoke. USA played an important role among all the countries/regions. There were 1847 authors for these 363 papers, among whom 44 authors published more than three articles on surgical smoke. "Surgical smoke", "covid-19" and "surgery" were the top 3 appeared keywords, while the latest hot-spot keywords were "COVID-19", "virus", "transmission", "exposure" and "risk". There were 1105 co-cited references and 3786 links appeared in all 363 articles. Among them, 38 references are cited more than 10 times. The most co-cited article was "Detecting hepatitis B virus in surgical smoke emitted during laparoscopic surgery." Based on the titles of references and calculated by CiteSpace, the top 3 cluster trend network are "laparoscopic surgery", "COVID-19 pandemic" and "surgical smoke". CONCLUSION According to bibliometric analysis, the research on surgical smoke has been drawing attention of more scholars in the world. Increasing number of countries or regions added in this field, and among them, USA, Italy, and China has been playing important roles, however, more wide and intense cooperation is still in expectation.

Abstract
Purpose: To highlight the knowledge structure and evolutionary trends in research on autophagy in lung cancer. Methods: Research publications on autophagy in lung cancer were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection database. VOSviewer and CiteSpace data analysis software were used for the bibliometric and visualization analysis of countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords related to this field. Results: From 2013 to 2022, research on autophagy in lung cancer developed rapidly, showing rising trends in annual publications and citations. China (1,986 papers; 48,913 citations), Shandong University (77 publications; 1,460 citations), and Wei Zhang (20 publications; 342 citations) were the most productive and influential country, institution, and author, respectively. The journal with the most publications and citations on autophagy in lung cancer was the International Journal of Molecular Sciences (93 publications; 3,948 citations). An analysis of keyword co-occurrence showed that related research topics were divided into five clusters: 1) Mechanisms influencing autophagy in lung cancer and the role of autophagy in lung cancer; 2) Effect of autophagy on the biological behavior of lung cancer; 3) Regulatory mechanisms of 2 cell death processes: autophagy and apoptosis in lung cancer cells; 4) Role of autophagy in lung cancer treatment and drug resistance; and 5) Role of autophagy-related genes in the occurrence and development of lung cancer. Cell proliferation, migration, epithelial-mesenchymal transition, and tumor microenvironment were the latest high-frequency keywords that represented promising future research directions. Conclusion: This is the first comprehensive study describing the knowledge structure and emerging frontiers of research on autophagy in lung cancer from 2013 to 2022 by means of a bibliometric analysis. The study points to promising future research directions focusing on in-depth autophagy mechanisms, clinical applications, and potential therapeutic strategies, providing a valuable reference for researchers in the field. Abstract
Carbon black nanoparticles (CBNPs) and cadmium (Cd) are major components of various air pollutants and cigarette smoke. Autophagy and inflammation both play critical roles in understanding the toxicity of particles and their components, as well as maintaining body homeostasis. However, the effects and mechanisms of CBNPs and Cd (CBNPs-Cd) co-exposure on the human respiratory system remain unclear. In this study, a CBNPs-Cd exposure model was constructed to explore the respiratory toxicity and combined mechanism of these chemicals on the autophagy-lysosome pathway in the context of respiratory inflammation. Co-exposure of CBNPs and Cd significantly increased the number of autophagosomes and lysosomes in human bronchial epithelial cells (16HBE) and mouse lung tissues compared to the control group, as well as the groups exposed to CBNPs and Cd alone. Autophagic markers, LC3II and P62 proteins, were up-regulated in 16HBE cells and mouse lung tissues after CBNPs-Cd co-exposure. However, treatment with Cq inhibitor (an indicator of lysosomal acid environment) resulted in a substantial decreased co-localization fluorescence of LC3 and lysosomes in the CBNPs-Cd combination group compared with the CBNPs-Cd single and control groups. No difference in LAMP1 protein expression was observed among the exposed groups. Adding 3 MA alleviated inflammatory responses, while applying the Baf-A1 inhibitor aggravated inflammation both in vitro and in vivo following CBNPs-Cd co-exposure. Factorial analysis showed no interaction between CBNPs and Cd in their effects on 16HBE cells. We demonstrated that co-exposure to CBNPs-Cd increases the synthesis of autophagosomes and regulates the acidic environment of lysosomes, thereby inhibiting autophagy-lysosome fusion and enhancing the inflammatory response in both 16HBE cells and mouse lung. These findings provide evidence for a comprehensive understanding of the interaction between CBNPs and Cd in mixed pollutants, as well as for the prevention and control of occupational exposure to these two chemicals.

Abstract
Background: Autophagy is an essential cellular process involving the self-degradation and recycling of organelles, proteins, and cellular debris. Recent research has shown that autophagy plays a significant role in the occurrence and development of kidney diseases. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis regarding the relationship between autophagy and kidney diseases. Methods: A bibliometric analysis was conducted by searching for literature related to autophagy and kidney diseases in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database from 2000 to 2022. Data processing was carried out using R package "Bibliometrix", VOSviewers, and CiteSpace. Results: A total of 4,579 articles related to autophagy and kidney diseases were collected from various countries. China and the United States were the main countries contributing to the publications. The number of publications in this field showed a year-on-year increasing trend, with open-access journals playing a major role in driving the literature output. Nanjing Medical University in China, Osaka University in Japan, and the University of Pittsburgh in the United States were the main research institutions. The journal "International journal of molecular sciences" had the highest number of publications, while "Autophagy" was the most influential journal in the field. These articles were authored by 18,583 individuals, with Dong, Zheng; Koya, Daisuke; and Kume, Shinji being the most prolific authors, and Dong, Zheng being the most frequently co-cited author. Research on autophagy mainly focused on diabetic kidney diseases, acute kidney injury, and chronic kidney disease. "Autophagy", "apoptosis", and "oxidative stress" were the primary research hotspots. Topics such as "diabetic kidney diseases", "sepsis", "ferroptosis", "nrf2", "hypertension" and "pi3k" may represent potential future development trends. Research on autophagy has gradually focused on metabolic-related kidney diseases such as diabetic nephropathy and hypertension. Additionally, PI3K, NRF2, and ferroptosis have been recent research directions in the field of autophagy mechanisms. Conclusion: This is the first comprehensive bibliometric study summarizing the relationship between autophagy and kidney diseases. The findings aid in identifying recent research frontiers and hot topics, providing valuable references for scholars investigating the role of autophagy in kidney diseases.

Abstract
Objective To conduct a bibliometric analysis of literature on hemorrhagic shock published between 2000 and 2021 with the help of Citespace to explore the current status, hotspots and research trends in this regard, with the results presented in a visualized manner. Methods The data over the past 22 years were retrieved from the Web of Science (WOS) Core Collection database and downloaded as the "Full Record and Cited References". Cooperative analysis, cluster analysis, co-citation analysis, and burst analysis were performed based on the data on countries/regions, institutions, journals, authors, and keywords through Citespace. Results A total of 2027 articles were retrieved. The number of annual publications fluctuated but was generally on an upward trend. The United States stands out as the most productive country (989 articles), the University of Pittsburgh the most productive publishing institution (109 articles), SHOCK the most cited journal (1486 articles), TAO LI the most productive author (40 articles), DEITCH EA the most cited author (261 times of citation), hemorrhagic shock the most frequent keyword (725 times of occurrence), and "traumatic brain injury" the most covered article in keyword clustering (29 articles). The burst analysis revealed Harvard University as the institution with the highest strength value and the Journal of Trauma and Acute Care Surgery the most important journal. It was also concluded that HASAN B ALAM, AARON M WILLIAMS, and LIMIN ZHANG may continue to publish high-quality articles in the future. In the meanwhile, both "protect" and "transfusion" were considered the hotspots and trends in current research. Conclusions The United States has been a major contributor to the publication of the articles over the past 22 years, with the most productive publishing institution, the most cited journal, and the most cited author all coming from the US. Hemorrhagic shock, injury, resuscitation, trauma, models, activation, expression, fluid resuscitation, rats, and nitric oxide are hot topics in relevant research. According to the keyword burst analysis, the areas related to "protect" and "transfusion" may rise as the research directions in the future. However, since the hotspots in the research of hemorrhagic shock are short-lived and fast-changing, the researchers should pay more attention to the development trend in this field.

Abstract
The investigation of therapeutic cancer vaccines has been ongoing for the past century. Herein, we used VOSviewer and CiteSpace to perform the first global bibliometric analysis of the literature on therapeutic cancer vaccines from 2013 to 2022 aiming to explore the current status and potential research trends. The findings revealed a consistent upward trend in both publication counts and citations. The United States emerged as the leading contributor with the highest number of published papers. Additionally, the analysis of references and keywords indicated that therapeutic cancer vaccines have long been popular topics, whereas neoantigen vaccines, mRNA vaccines, combination strategies, and vaccine delivery systems are emerging research hotspots. This bibliometric study provides a comprehensive and important overview of the current knowledge and potential developments in therapeutic cancer vaccines from 2013 to 2022, which may serve as a valuable reference for scholars interested in further exploring this promising field.
