Abstract
BACKGROUND Osteoarthritis (OA) is characterised by the failure of normal biological processes to repair following damage. Traditionally, OA was considered a "wear and tear" disorder; however, it is now a recognised inflammatory condition, preceded by molecular modifications. The aim of this study was to evaluate inflammatory markers among individuals with early knee OA (eKOA) and well-matched asymptomatic controls. METHODS Twenty six eKOA (females, n = 13; age = 60.2 ± 5.4 yrs, height = 1.73 ± 0.11 m, body mass = 77.8 ± 12.8 kg, body fat = 33.9 ± 8.5%) and twenty-three asymptomatic individuals (females, n = 14; age = 59.9 ± 5.5yrs, height = 1.71 ± 0.09 m, body mass = 72.6 ± 11.3 kg, body fat = 30.4 ± 8.2%) were recruited. The Timed Up and Go, and the 6 Minute Walk Tests evaluated physical function in addition to pain specific questionnaires (KOOS and ICOAP). Serum levels of IL-1α, IL-1β, IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8(CXCL8), IL-10, hsCRP and TNF-α were quantified using a multiplex assay via V-plex®Sector Imager 2400. RESULTS As hypothesised, only KOOS and EQ-5D-5L metrics differed between the groups for non-blood derived measures (p < 0.04). Only IL-6 was higher in eKOA (P = 0.02; 95% CI = 0.202; by 0.197 pg/mL; 34.5%). Among eKOA, IL-6 did not relate to severity of KOOS pain (P = 0.696, r = -0.088), but had a positive relationship with ICOAP consistent (r = 0.469, P = 0.045) rather than intermittent pain. There was a moderate correlation between 6MWD and IL-8 (r = 0.471, P = 0.012). CONCLUSION Our results illustrate the potential for IL-6 as a biomarker for eKOA, and introduce the proposition for particular consideration in those with consistent pain. Further, for the first time the present data showed greater walking distance in eKOA with lower circulating IL-8. Future work should seek to verify these results and further investigate IL-6 and IL-8 related molecular pathways in eKOA, and their potential relationships with consistent knee pain and physical function.

Abstract
Background Joint articular injection of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) has emerged as a novel treatment approach for osteoarthritis (OA). However, the effectiveness of MSCs derived from different sources in treating OA patients remains unclear. Therefore, this study aimed to explore the differences between the effectiveness and safety of different sources of MSCs. Materials and Methods For inclusion consideration, we searched trial registries and published databases, including PubMed, Cochrane Library, Embase, and Web of Science databases. Revman (V5.3), STATA (V16.0), and R (V4.0) were utilized for conducting data analysis, while the Cochrane Risk of Bias Tool was employed for assessing the quality of the studies. We derived outcome measures at 6 and 12 months based on the duration of study follow-up, including visual analog scale (VAS) score, WOMAC score, WOMAC pain, WOMAC Functional Limitation, and WOMAC stiffness. The evaluation time for short-term effectiveness is set at 6 months, while 12 months is utilized as the longest follow-up time for most studies to assess long-term effectiveness. Results The evaluation of literature quality showed that the included studies had excellent methodological quality. A meta-analysis revealed that different sources of MSCs improved knee function and pain more effectively among patients suffering from knee OA (KOA) than controls. The results of the network meta-analysis showed the following: short-term functional improvement (the indexes were evaluated after 6 months of follow-up) (WOMAC total score: bone marrow-derived MSC (BMMSC) vs. adipose-derived MSC (ADMSC) (mean difference (MD) = -20.12, 95% confidence interval (CI) -125.24 to 42.88), umbilical cord-derived MSC (UCMSC) (MD = -7.81, 95% CI -158.13 to 74.99); WOMAC stiffness: BMMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = -0.51, 95% CI -7.27 to 4.29), UCMSC (MD = -0.75, 95% CI -9.74 to 6.63); WOMAC functional limitation: BMMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = -12.22, 95% CI -35.05 to 18.86), UCMSC (MD = -9.31, 95% CI -44.26 to 35.27)). Long-term functional improvement (the indexes were evaluated after 12 months of follow-up) (WOMAC total: BMMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = -176.77, 95% CI -757.1 to 378.25), UCMSC (MD = -181.55, 95% CI -937.83 to 541.13); WOMAC stiffness: BMMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = -0.5, 95% CI -26.05 to 18.61), UCMSC (MD = -1.03, 95% CI -30.44 to 21.69); WOMAC functional limitation: BMMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = -5.18, 95% CI -316.72 to 177.1), UCMSC (MD = -8.33, 95% CI -358.78 to 218.76)). Short-term pain relief (the indexes were evaluated after 6 months of follow-up) (VAS score: UCMSC vs. BMMSC (MD = -10.92, 95% CI -31.79 to 12.03), ADMSC (MD = -14.02, 95% CI -36.01 to 9.81), PLMSC (MD = -17.09, 95% CI -46.31 to 13.17); WOMAC pain relief: BMMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = -11.42, 95% CI -39.52 to 11.77), UCMSC (MD = -6.73, 95% CI -47.36 to 29.15)). Long-term pain relief (the indexes were evaluated after 12 months of follow-up) (VAS score: BMMSC vs. UCMSC (MD = -4.33, 95% CI -36.81 to 27.08), ADMSC (MD = -11.43, 95% CI -37.5 to 13.42); WOMAC pain relief: UCMSC vs. ADMSC (MD = 0.23, 95% CI -37.87 to 38.11), BMMSC (MD = 5.89, 95% CI -25.39 to 51.41)). According to the GRADE scoring system, WOMAC, VAS, and AE scores were of low quality. Conclusion Meta-analysis suggests MSCs can effectively treat KOA by improving pain and knee function compared to control groups. In terms of functional improvement in KOA patients, both short-term (6-month follow-up) and long-term (12-month follow-up) results indicated that while the differences between most treatments were not statistically significant, bone marrow-derived MSCs may have some advantages over other sources of MSCs. Additionally, BM-MSCs and UC-MSCs may offer certain benefits over ADMSCs in terms of pain relief for KOA patients, although the variances between most studies were not statistically significant. Therefore, this study suggests that BM-MSCs may present clinical advantages over other sources of MSCs.

Abstract
Local and systemic low-grade inflammation, mainly involving the innate immune system, plays an important role in the development of OA. A receptor playing a key role in initiation of this inflammation is the pattern-recognition receptor Toll-like receptor 4 (TLR4). In the joint, various ligands for TLR4, many of which are damage-associated molecular patterns (DAMPs), are present that can activate TLR4 signalling. This leads to the production of pro-inflammatory and catabolic mediators that cause joint damage. In this narrative review, we will first discuss the involvement of TLR4 ligands and signalling in OA. Furthermore, we will provide an overview of methods for inhibit, TLR4 signalling by RNA interference, neutralizing anti-TLR4 antibodies, small molecules and inhibitors targeting the TLR4 co-receptor MD2. Finally, we will focus on possible applications and challenges of these strategies in the dampening of inflammation in OA.

Abstract
Objectives We aimed to evaluate the association between the adipokines: Leptin, Adiponectin, Resistin, and high sensitive-C-reactive protein (hs-CRP) with clinical, radiographical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) assessment of knee osteoarthritis (OA) severity. Design We performed a cross-sectional study in participants with earlier knee OA. Demographics, clinical (WOMAC), radiographical and MRI (BLOKS scoring) severity of knee OA were assessed. Serum leptin, adiponectin, resistin and hs-CRP were measured. Association of adipokines and hs-CRP with clinical, radiographic and MRI severity outcomes were evaluated using regression models with adjustment with age, sex, and body mass index (BMI). Results 137 participants with earlier knee OA (82% women, mean ± SD age: 55.5 ± 7.8 years) were included. Participants had moderate knee OA symptoms, mean WOMAC pain and function were 30.6 ± 18.0, and 31.7 ± 19.8 respectively. Mean BMI was 27.0 ± 5.9 kg/m2. After adjustment with age, sex and BMI, serum leptin was positively associated with osteophyte size, cartilage integrity, infrapatellar synovitis and effusion. While hs-CRP was associated with meniscus extrusion and adiponectin was associated with WOMAC pain and function. Conclusion Serum adipokines, particularly leptin was associated with severity of various structural defects of the knee joint on MRI beyond age, sex and BMI in earlier knee OA.

Abstract
Objective Observe the effects of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy on inflammatory cytokines in the synovial fluid of the knee joint of patients with KOA, and explore the effects of PRP intra-articular injection on the inflammation of the knee joint environment and the possible mechanism of action. Methods Seventy patients were randomized to undergo three blinded weekly intra-articular injections of PRP or hyaluronic acid (HA). The concentrations of inflammatory cytokines, including interleukin (IL)-6, IL-1β, tumor necrosis factor (TNF)-α, IL-8, IL-17A, IL-17F, IL-4, IL-5, and IL-10, in the synovial fluid were evaluated before the intervention and 1 month after the third injection. The Western Ontario and McMaster University (WOMAC) and visual analog scale (VAS) scores were used to assess pain and functional status of the knee joints in both groups before the intervention, immediately post-intervention, and 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after the intervention. Results Baseline characteristics were similar in both groups with no statistical difference. The IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-17A, and IL-10 levels in the synovial fluid of the observation group decreased significantly after, vs. before, the intervention (p < 0.05), whereas the IL-8, IL-17F, and IL-4 levels decreased (p > 0.05) and IL-5 levels increased (p > 0.05). There was no statistically significant difference between inflammatory cytokine levels in the synovial fluid of the samples from the control group before and after the intervention (p > 0.05). There were no statistically significant differences between the two groups immediately after intervention (p > 0.05). At 1, 3, 6, and 12 months after intervention, the WOMAC and VAS scores were significantly better in the observation group than in the control group (p < 0.05). Conclusion Platelet plasma therapy can reduce the concentrations of inflammatory cytokines IL-6, IL-1β, TNF-α, IL-17A, and IL-10 in the synovial fluid of KOA patients, reduce the expression levels of IL-8, IL-17F, and IL-4, clear the pro-inflammatory factors, improve the inflammatory environment of the affected knee joint, and alleviate pain caused by inflammation. Thus, alleviating pain and improving knee function in patients with KOA.

Abstract
Background Osteoarthritis (OA) is a prevalent chronic joint disease with an obscure underlying molecular signature. Cuproptosis plays a crucial role in various biological processes. However, the association between cuproptosis-mediated immune infifiltration and OA progression remains unexplored. Therefore, this study elucidates the pathological process and potential mechanisms underlying cuproptosis in OA by constructing a columnar line graph model and performing consensus clustering analysis. Methods Gene expression profifile datasets GSE12021, GSE32317, GSE55235, and GSE55457 of OA were obtained from the comprehensive gene expression database. Cuproptosis signature genes were screened by random forest (RF) and support vector machine (SVM). A nomogram was developed based on cuproptosis signature genes. A consensus clustering was used to distinguish OA patients into different cuproptosis patterns. To quantify the cuproptosis pattern, a principal component analysis was developed to generate the cuproptosis score for each sample. Single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA) was used to provide the abundance of immune cells in each sample and the relationship between these significant cuproptosis signature genes and immune cells.To quantify the cuproptosis pattern, a principal component analysis technique was developed to generate the cuproptosis score for each sample. Cuproptosis-related genes were extracted and subjected to differential expression analysis to construct a disease prediction model and confifirmed by RT-qPCR. Results Seven cuproptosis signature genes were screened (DBT, LIPT1, GLS, PDHB, FDX1, DLAT, and PDHA1) to predict the risk of OA disease. A column line graph model was developed based on these seven cuproptosis signature genes, which may assist patients based on decision curve analysis. A consensus clustering method was used to distinguish patients with disorder into two cuproptosis patterns (clusters A and B). To quantify the cuproptosis pattern, a principal component analysis technique was developed to generate the cuproptosis score for each sample. Furthermore, the OA characteristics of patients in cluster A were associated with the inflflammatory factors IL-1b, IL-17, IL-21, and IL-22, suggesting that the cuproptosis signature genes play a vital role in the development of OA. Discussion In this study, a risk prediction model based on cuproptosis signature genes was established for the fifirst time, and accurately predicted OA risk. In addition, patients with OA were classifified into two cuproptosis molecule subtypes (clusters A and B); cluster A was highly associated with Th17 immune responses, with higher IL-1b, IL-17, and IL-21 IL-22 expression levels, while cluster B had a higher correlation with cuproptosis. Our analysis will help facilitate future research related cuproptosis-associated OA immunotherapy. However, the specifific mechanisms remain to be elucidated.

Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is the most common form of arthritis resulting in joint discomfort and disability, culminating in decline in life quality. Attention has been drawn in recent years to disease-associated molecular biomarkers found in readily accessible biofluids due to low invasiveness of acquisition and their potential to detect early pathological molecular changes not observed with traditional imaging methodology. These biochemical markers of OA have been found in synovial fluid, blood, and urine. They include emerging molecular classes, such as metabolites and noncoding RNAs, as well as classical biomarkers, like inflammatory mediators and by-products of degradative processes involving articular cartilage. Although blood-based biomarkers tend to be most studied, the use of synovial fluid, a more isolated biofluid in the synovial joint, and urine as an excreted fluid containing OA biomarkers can offer valuable information on local and overall disease activity, respectively. Furthermore, larger clinical studies are required to determine relationships between biomarkers in different biofluids, and their impacts on patient measures of OA. This narrative review provides a concise overview of recent studies of OA using these four classes of biomarkers as potential biomarker for measuring disease incidence, staging, prognosis, and therapeutic intervention efficacy.

Abstract
Background Early stage of osteoarthritis (OA) is characterized by joint stiffness and pain as well as by subclinical structural changes that may affect cartilage, synovium, and bone. At the moment, the lack of a validated definition of early osteoarthritis (EOA) does not allow to make an early diagnosis and adopt a therapeutic strategy to slow disease progression. Also, no questionnaires are available to evaluate the early stage, and therefore this remains an unmet need. Objective Therefore, the purpose of the technical experts panel (TEP) of 'International Symposium of intra-articular treatment' (ISIAT) was to create a specific questionnaire to evaluate and monitor the follow-up and clinical progress of patients affected by early knee OA. Design The items for the Early Osteoarthritis Questionnaire (EOAQ) were identified according to the following steps: items generation, items reduction, and pre-test submission. Methods During the first step, literature has been reviewed and a comprehensive list of items about pain and function in knee EOA was drafted. Then, during the ISIAT (5th edition 2019), the draft has been discussed by the board, which reformulated, deleted, or subdivided some of the items. After the ISIAT symposium, the draft was submitted to 24 subjects affected by knee OA. A score based on the importance and the frequency was created and the items with a score ⩾0.75 were selected. After intermediate evaluation made by a sample of patients, the second and final version of the questionnaire EOAQ was submitted to the whole board for final analysis and acceptance in a second meeting (29 January 2021). Results After an exhaustive elaboration, the final version of the questionnaire contains two domains (Clinical Features and Patients Reported Outcome) with respectively 2 and 9 questions, for a total of 11 questions. Questions mainly explored the fields of early symptoms and patients reported outcomes. Marginally, the need of the symptoms treatment and the use of painkillers were investigated. Conclusions Adoption of diagnostic criteria of early OA is strongly encouraged and a specific questionnaire for the whole management of the clinical features and patients' outcome might really improve the evolution of OA in the early stages of the disease, when the treatment is expected to be more effective.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Through the bioinformatics analysis to screen out the potential chromatin regulators (CRs) under the immune infiltration of osteoarthritis (OA), thus providing some theoretical support for future studies of epigenetic mechanisms under OA immune infiltration. METHODS By integrating CRs and the OA gene expression matrix, we performed weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA), differential analysis, and further screened Hub genes by protein-protein interaction (PPI) analysis. Using the OA gene expression matrix, immune infiltration extraction and quantification were performed to analyze the correlations and differences between immune infiltrating cells and their functions. By virtue of these Hub genes, Hub gene association analysis was completed and their upstream miRNAs were predicted by the FunRich software. Moreover, a risk model was established to analyze the risk probability of associated CRs in OA, and the confidence of the results was validated by the validation dataset. RESULTS This research acquired a total of 32 overlapping genes, and 10 Hub genes were further identified. The strongest positive correlation between dendritic cells and mast cells and the strongest negative correlation between parainflammation and Type I IFN reponse. In the OA group DCs, iDCs, macrophages, MCs, APC co-inhibition, and CCR were significantly increased, whereas B cells, NK cells, Th2 cells, TIL, and T cell co-stimulation were significantly decreased. The risk model results revealed that BRD1 might be an independent risk factor for OA, and the validation dataset results are consistent with it. 60 upstream miRNAs of OA-related CRs were predicted by the FunRich software. CONCLUSION This study identified certain potential CRs and miRNAs that could regulate OA immunity, thus providing certain theoretical supports for future epigenetic mechanism studies on the immune infiltration of OA.

Abstract
Osteoarthritis (OA) is a major cause of pain, disability, and social burden in the elderly throughout the world. Although many studies focused on the molecular mechanism of OA, its etiology remains unclear. Therefore, more biomarkers need to be explored to help early diagnosis, clinical outcome measurement, and new therapeutic target development. Our study aimed to retrieve the potential hub genes of osteoarthritis (OA) by weighted gene co-expression network analysis (WGCNA) and assess their clinical utility for predicting OA. Here, we integrated WGCNA to identify novel OA susceptibility modules and hub genes. In this study, we first selected 477 and 834 DEGs in the GSE1919 and the GSE55235 databases, respectively, from the Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) website. Genes with p-value<0.05 and | log2FC | > 1 were included in our analysis. Then, WGCNA was conducted to build a gene co-expression network, which filtered out the most relevant modules and screened out 23 overlapping WGCNA-derived hub genes. Gene Ontology (GO) and Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway enrichment analyses elucidated that these hub genes were associated with cell adhesion molecules pathway, leukocyte activation, and inflammatory response. In addition, we conducted the protein–protein interaction (PPI) network in 23 hub genes, and the top four upregulated hub genes were sorted out (CD4, SELL, ITGB2, and CD52). Moreover, our nomogram model showed good performance in predicting the risk of OA (C-index = 0.76), and this model proved to be efficient in diagnosis by ROC curves (AUC = 0.789). After that, a single-sample gene set enrichment (ssGSEA) analysis was performed to discover immune cell infiltration in OA. Finally, human primary synoviocytes and immunohistochemistry study of synovial tissues confirmed that those candidate genes were significantly upregulated in the OA groups compared with normal groups. We successfully constructed a co-expression network based on WGCNA and found out that OA-associated susceptibility modules and hub genes, which may provide further insight into the development of pre-symptomatic diagnosis, may contribute to understanding the molecular mechanism study of OA risk genes.

Abstract
Oils provide a considerable amount of energy to the swine diet, but they are prone to lipid oxidation if not properly preserved. Consumption of oxidized oils can adversely affect the animal organism and even the offspring. This study investigated the impact of oxidized soybean oil in the diets of sows from 107 days gestation to 21 days of lactation on the performance of sows and jejunum health of suckling piglets. Sixteen sows were randomly allocated into two groups: one group (n = 8) was fed with the fresh soybean oil (FSO) diet, and another group (n = 8) was treated with the oxidized soybean oil (OSO) diet. Dietary oxidized soybean oil does not affect sow performance. Antioxidant enzyme activity in the milk was reduced significantly in the OSO group, such as the superoxide dismutase (SOD), total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC), and catalase (CAT) activities (p < 0.05). On Day 21, oxidized soybean oil increased tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-α), interleukin 6 (IL-6), and interleukin 8 (IL-8) levels in sow milk and the concentrations of TNF-α and IL-8 cytokines in plasma (p < 0.05). Suckling piglets from sows fed on OSO showed a trend towards increased IL-6 and TNF-α in plasma (p < 0.1). The mRNA expression of interleukin 1β (IL-1β) was augmented, whereas interleukin 10 (IL-10) was decreased, and zonula occludens-1 (ZO-1) had a tendency to be down-regulated in OSO treatment. This study revealed that the OSO of feed decreased the antioxidant capacity of milk, further contributing to the inflammatory response in the jejunum of suckling piglets.

Abstract
This work aimed to investigate the application value of the multimodal magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) algorithm based on the low-rank decomposition denoising (LRDD) in the diagnosis of knee osteoarthritis (KOA), so as to offer a better examination method in the clinic. Seventy-eight patients with KOA were selected as the research objects, and they all underwent T1-weighted imaging (T1WI), T2-weighted imaging (T2WI), fat suppression T2WI (SE-T2WI), and fat saturation T2WI (FS-T2WI). All obtained images were processed by using the I-LRDD algorithm. According to the degree of articular cartilage lesions under arthroscopy, the patients were divided into a group I, a group II, a group III, and a group IV. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and consistency of KOA diagnosis of T1WI, T2WI, SE-T2WI, and FS-T2WI were analyzed by referring to the results of arthroscopy. The results showed that the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and structural similarity index (SSIM) of the I-LRDD algorithm used in this work were higher than those of image block priori denoising (IBPD) and LRDD, and the time consumption was lower than that of IBDP and LRDD (p < 0.05). The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and consistency (Kappa value) of multimodal MRI in the diagnosis of KOA were 88.61%, 85.3%, 87.37%, and 0.73%, respectively, which were higher than those of T1WI, T2WI, SE-T2WI, and FS-T2WI. The sensitivity, specificity, accuracy, and consistency of multimodal MRI in diagnosing lesions in group IV were 95%, 96.10%, 95.88%, and 0.70%, respectively, which were much higher than those in groups I, II, and III (p < 0.05). In conclusion, the LRDD algorithm shows a good image processing efficacy, and the multimodal MRI showed a good diagnosis effect on KOA, which was worthy of promotion clinically.

Abstract
Objective: This research aims to refresh the limited understanding about the canal and vascular structures within the epiphysis and metaphysis of the tibia and femur and their oncological significance. Methods: This study was started with characterization of a novel structure using radiographs and anatomic dissections, followed by a descriptive clinical study with 55 participants to investigate the effects of tumors on this novel discovery and a retrospective cohort study with 82 participants to investigate whether the structure would be a risk factor for tumor recurrence after the curettage of giant cell tumor of bone. Results: A new anatomical knee structure, the Lijianmin-Chengkun (LC) complex, was discovered in healthy adults, and its clinical implications were examined in this study. This new-found anatomical structure is composed of an epiphyseal and metaphyseal canal which surrounds a blood vessel, foramen, and foramen-covered synovium. All LC complexes showed similar radiographical, anatomical, and histological characteristics and were located within specific tibial and femoral intercondylar regions. These LC complexes seem to facilitate tumor residue and extension and may be a risk factor for tumor recurrence after curettage of femoral and tibial giant cell tumors (P = 0.031). Conclusion: The LC complexes are related to local tumor recurrence and bidirectional tumor dissemination between intraosseous and intraarticular regions. These findings have opened up a new perspective and may provide new targets for intervention in malignant and aggressive tumors around the knee joint.

Abstract
Biomarkers are essential tools in osteoarthritis (OA) research, clinical trials, and drug development. Detecting and evaluating biomarkers in OA research can open new avenues for researching and developing new therapeutics. In the present report, we have explored the serological detection of various osteoarthritis-related biomarkers in the preclinical model of OA. In this surgical OA model, we disrupted the medial tibial cartilage’s integrity via anterior cruciate ligament transection combined with medial meniscectomy (ACLT+MMx) of a single joint of Wistar rats. The progression of OA was verified, as shown by the microscopic deterioration of cartilage and the increasing cartilage degeneration scoring from 4 to 12 weeks postsurgery. The concentration of serological biomarkers was measured at two timepoints, along with the complete blood count and bone electrolytes, with biochemical analysis further conducted. The panel evaluated inflammatory biomarkers, bone/cartilage biomarkers, and lipid metabolic pathway biomarkers. In chronic OA rats, we found a significant reduction of total vitamin D3 and C-telopeptide fragments of type II (CTX-II) levels in the serum as compared to sham-operated rats. In contrast, the serological levels of adiponectin, leptin, and matrix metallopeptidase (MMP3) were significantly enhanced in chronic OA rats. The inflammatory markers, blood cell composition, and biochemical profile remained unchanged after surgery. In conclusion, we found that a preclinical model of single-joint OA with significant deterioration of the cartilage can lead to serological changes to the cartilage and metabolic-related biomarkers without alteration of the systemic blood and biochemical profile. Thus, this biomarker profile provides a new tool for diagnostic/therapeutic assessment in OA scientific research.
