Abstract
Excessive neointimal hyperplasia (NIH) of coronary vessels in patients is the main cause of restenosis (RS) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). This study aimed to identify the regulatory genes related to NIH in a rat carotid artery balloon injury model. We established a rat model and performed RNA sequencing to identify differentially expressed long non-coding RNAs (DElncRNAs) and differentially expressed message RNAs (DEmRNAs). Immune cells were analyzed using a murine Microenvironment Cell Population counter. The Pearson correlation between DEmRNAs, DElncRNAs, and immune cells was analyzed, followed by function enrichment analysis. Core DEmRNA was identified using Cytoscape. Next, a core lncRNAs-mRNAs-immune cell regulatory network was constructed. NIH-related gene sets from the Gene Expression Omnibus and GeneCards databases were used for validation.A total of 2,165 DEmRNAs and 705 DElncRNAs were identified in rat carotid artery tissue. Four key immune cells were screened out, including mast cells, vessels, endothelial cells, and fibroblasts. Based on the Pearson correlation between DEmRNAs, DElncRNAs and 4 key immune cells, 246 DEmRNAs and 93 DElncRNAs were obtained. DEmRNAs that interact with lncRNAs were mainly involved in the cell cycle, MAPK signaling pathway, and PI3K-Akt signaling pathway. A core lncRNA-mRNA-immune cell regulatory network was constructed, including 9 mRNAs, 4 lncRNAs, and fibroblasts. External datasets validation confirmed the significant correlation of both these mRNAs and lncRNAs with NIH.In this study, an lncRNA-mRNA-immune cell regulatory network related to NIH was constructed, which provided clues for exploring the potential mechanism of RS in cardiovascular diseases.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES Carotid artery stenosis (CAS) is a leading cause of cerebral ischemic events (CIE). Timely detection and risk assessment can aid in managing CAS patients and improving their prognosis. The aim of the current study is to identify a new biomarker for CAS and to further investigate the impact of miR-195-5p on cellular processes in vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMCs). METHODS This study involved 112 CAS patients and 65 healthy individuals. Serum miR-195-5p levels were measured using RT-qPCR. The ROC curve was then plotted to evaluate the diagnostic potential of miR-195-5p for CAS. The Kaplan-Meier curve and Cox regression were employed to determine miR-195-5p's prognostic significance. In vitro, the effects of miR-195-5p mimic or inhibitor on VSMC proliferation and migration were assessed using CCK-8 and Transwell assays. RESULTS In CAS patients, serum miR-195-5p levels were elevated and correlated with the degree of CAS. The ROC curve had an AUC value of 0.897, with sensitivity of 71.4% and specificity of 95.4%. Higher levels of miR-195-5p indicated a higher risk of CIE occurrence and may serve as an independent predictor of CIE. The upregulation of miR-195-5p promoted VSMC proliferation and migration, while downregulation had the opposite effect. CONCLUSIONS miR-195-5p was demonstrated to have diagnostic and prognostic significance in CAS and may serve as a potential biomarker. It may contribute to the progression of CAS by promoting the proliferation and migration of VSMCs.

Abstract
Vascular smooth muscle cell (vSMC) dysfunction is a critical contributor to cardiovascular diseases, including atherosclerosis, restenosis and vein graft failure. Recent advances have unveiled a fascinating range of non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) that play a pivotal role in regulating vSMC function. This review aims to provide an in-depth analysis of the mechanisms underlying vSMC dysfunction and the therapeutic potential of various ncRNAs in mitigating this dysfunction, either preventing or reversing it. We explore the intricate interplay of microRNAs, long-non-coding RNAs and circular RNAs, shedding light on their roles in regulating key signalling pathways associated with vSMC dysfunction. We also discuss the prospects and challenges associated with developing ncRNA-based therapies for this prevalent type of cardiovascular pathology.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE Studies suggest that LncRNA maternally expressed 8, small nucleolar RNA host gene (MEG8) contributes to inflammatory regulation, while the function and potential mechanisms of MEG8 in Parkinson's disease (PD) are unknown. This study aimed to assess the clinical value and biological function of MEG8 in PD. METHODS One hundred and two PD patients, eighty-six AD patients, and eighty healthy controls were enrolled in this study. Lipopolysaccharide (LPS)-induced microglia BV2 constructs an in vitro cell model. RT-qPCR was conducted to quantify the levels of MEG8, miR-485-3p, and FBXO45 in serum and cells. ROC curve was employed to examine the diagnostic value of MEG8 in PD. Serum and cellular pro-inflammatory factor secretion were quantified by ELISA. Dual-luciferase reporter and RIP assay to validate the targeting relationship between miR-485-3p and FBXO45. RESULTS MEG8 and FBXO45 were significantly decreased in the serum of PD patients and LPS-induced bv2, while miR-485-3p was increased (P < 0.05). ROC curve confirmed that serum MEG8 has high sensitivity and specificity to identify PD patients from healthy controls and AD patients, respectively. Elevated MEG8 alleviated LPS-induced inflammatory factor overproduction compared with LPS-induced BV2 (P < 0.05), but this alleviating effect was eliminated by miR-485-3p (P < 0.05). The LPS-induced inflammatory response was suppressed by the low expression of miR-485-3p but significantly reversed by silencing of FBXO45. MEG8 was a sponge for miR-485-3p and inhibited its levels and promoted FBXO45 expression (P < 0.05). CONCLUSION Elevated MEG8 is a potential diagnostic biomarker for PD and may mitigate inflammatory damage in PD via the miR-485-3p/FBXO45 axis.

Abstract
The reversion-inducing cysteine-rich protein with Kazal motifs (RECK), a membrane-anchored glycoprotein, negatively regulates various membrane proteins involved in the tissue governing extracellular matrix (ECM) remodeling such as metalloproteases (MMPs) and the sheddases ADAM10 and ADAM17. The significance of the present review is to summarize the current understanding of the pathophysiological role of RECK, a newly discovered signaling pathway associated with different liver injuries. Specifically, this review analyzes published data on the downregulation of RECK expression in hepatic ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury, liver-related cancers, including hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) and cholangiocarcinoma (CCA), as well as in the progression of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) to non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH). In addition, this review discusses the regulation of RECK by inducers, such as FXR agonists. The RECK protein has also been suggested as a potential diagnostic and prognostic marker for liver injury or as a biomarker with predictive value for drug treatment efficacy.

Abstract
Atherosclerosis is a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by endothelial dysfunction and plaque formation. The present study aimed to elucidate the pathological role of the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) paternally expressed 13 (PEG13) in the onset and progression of atherosclerosis. Specifically, its effects on human umbilical vein endothelial cell (HUVEC) proliferation, angiogenesis, senescence and senescence-associated secretory phenotype (SASP)-related factors were investigated using cell proliferation, cellular angiogenesis, β-galactosidase staining, reverse transcription-quantitative PCR and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays. The results showed that oxidized low-density lipoprotein (ox-LDL) inhibited lncRNA PEG13 expression and HUVEC viability in a dose-dependent manner and PEG13 overexpression partially reversed these effects. Additionally, PEG13 overexpression ameliorated the ox-LDL-induced impairment of angiogenesis, cellular senescence and SASP. Furthermore, lncRNA PEG13 directly targeted microRNA (miR/miRNA)-195-5p, suppressing the ox-LDL-induced upregulation of the miRNA. The gene coding for insulin receptor substrate 1 (IRS1), an activator of the phosphoinositide 3-kinase (PI3K)/protein kinase B (AKT) signaling pathway, was confirmed as a direct target of miR-195. PEG13 overexpression attenuated the ox-LDL-induced inhibition of IRS1 expression and PI3K/AKT signaling and its protective effects on HUVEC viability, angiogenesis and senescence were partially reversed by small interfering RNAs targeting IRS1. The present study demonstrated that lncRNA PEG13 attenuates ox-LDL-induced senescence in HUVECs by modulating the miR-195/IRS1/PI3K/AKT signaling pathway, suggesting a potential therapeutic target for the treatment of atherosclerosis.

Abstract
Long non-coding RNA (lncRNAs) are longer than 200 nucleotides and cannot encode proteins but can regulate the expression of genes through epigenetic, transcriptional, and post-transcriptional modifications. The pathophysiology of smooth muscle cells can lead to many vascular diseases, and studies have shown that lncRNAs can regulate the phenotypic conversion of smooth muscle cells so that smooth muscle cells proliferate, migrate, and undergo apoptosis, thereby affecting the development and prognosis of vascular diseases. This review discusses the molecular mechanisms of lncRNA as a signal, bait, stent, guide, and other functions to regulate the phenotypic conversion of vascular smooth muscle cells, and summarizes the role of lncRNAs in regulating vascular smooth muscle cells in atherosclerosis, hypertension, aortic dissection, vascular restenosis, and aneurysms, providing new ideas for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases.

Abstract
Hair loss occurs in patients with Androgenetic Alopecia (AGA). The pattern of hair loss is different between men and women. The main cause of hair loss is increased cell apoptosis and decreased regeneration, proliferation and differentiation processes in hair follicles. Long Non-Coding RNAs (lncRNAs) are one of the most important molecules that regulate the processes of apoptosis, regeneration, proliferation and differentiation in hair follicles. Since studies have shown that lncRNAs can be effective in the development of cardiotoxicity and induction of cardiovascular disease (CVD); so effective lncRNAs in the regulation of regeneration, proliferation, differentiation and apoptosis of hair follicles can be involved in the development of CVD in AGA patients with. Therefore, this study investigated the lncRNAs involved in increasing apoptosis and reducing the processes of regeneration, proliferation and differentiation of hair follicles. The aim of the current study was to evaluate the role of lncRNAs as a risk factor in the incidence of CVD in AGA patients; it will help to design treatment strategies by targeting signaling pathways without any cardiotoxicity complications.

Abstract
Aortic dissection (AD), also known as aortic dissecting aneurysm, is one of the most common and dangerous cardiovascular diseases with high morbidity and mortality. This study was aimed to investigate the functional role of long non-coding RNA Hypoxia-inducible factor 1 alpha-antisense RNA 2 (lncRNA HIF1A-AS2) in AD. An in vitro model of AD was established by platelet-derived growth factor-BB (PDGF-BB)-mediated human aortic Smooth Muscle Cells (SMCs). HIF1A-AS2 expression in human AD tissues was determined by quantitative real-time PCR (qRT-PCR) and fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) assays, followed by investigation of biological roles of HIF1A-AS2 in AD development by Cell Counting Kit-8 (CCK-8), immunofluorescence, and transwell assays. Additionally, the correlation between HIF1A-AS2, miR-33b, and high mobility group AT-hook2 (HMGA2) were identified by RNA immunoprecipitation (RIP), RNA pull-down and luciferase reporter assays. Results showed that HIF1A-AS2 was obviously increased, while the contractile-phenotype markers of vascular SMCs were significantly decreased in human AD tissues, when compared to normal tissues. Inhibition of HIF1A-AS2 attenuated SMCs proliferation and migration, whereas enhanced the phenotypic switch under the stimulation of PDGF-BB. Results from RIP, RNA pull-down and luciferase reporter assays demonstrated that miR-33b directly bound with HIF1A-AS2, and HIF1A-AS2 silencing suppressed the expression of HMGA2, which was induced by miR-33b inhibitor. In conclusion, knockdown of HIF1A-AS2 suppressed the proliferation and migration, while promoted the phenotypic switching of SMCs through miR-33b/HMGA2 axis, which laid a theoretical foundation for understanding the development of AD and shed light on a potential target for AD treatment.
