Abstract
INTRODUCTION Quantitative gait analysis (QGA) has the potential to support clinician decision-making. However, it is not yet widely accepted in practice. Evidence for clinical efficacy (i.e., efficacy and effectiveness), as well as a users' perspective on using the technology in clinical practice (e.g., ease of use and usefulness) can help impact their widespread adoption. OBJECTIVE To synthesize the literature on the clinical efficacy and clinician perspectives on the use of gait analysis technologies in the clinical care of adult populations. METHODS This scoping review followed the Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) methodology for scoping reviews. We included peer-reviewed and gray literature (i.e., conference abstracts). A search was conducted in MEDLINE (Ovid), CENTRAL (Ovid), EMBASE (Ovid), CINAHL (EBSCO) and SPORTDiscus (EBSCO). Included full-text studies were critically appraised using the JBI critical appraisal tools. RESULTS A total of 15 full-text studies and two conference abstracts were included in this review. Results suggest that QGA technologies can influence decision-making with some evidence to suggest their role in improving patient outcomes. The main barrier to ease of use was a clinician's lack of data expertise, and main facilitator was receiving support from staff. Barriers to usefulness included challenges finding suitable reference data and data accuracy, while facilitators were enhancing patient care and supporting clinical decision-making. SIGNIFICANCE This review is the first step to understanding how QGA technologies can optimize clinical practice. Many gaps in the literature exist and reveal opportunities to improve the clinical adoption of gait analysis technologies. Further research is needed in two main areas: 1) examining the clinical efficacy of gait analysis technologies and 2) gathering clinician perspectives using a theoretical model like the Technology Acceptance Model to guide study design. Results will inform research aimed at evaluating, developing, or implementing these technologies. Abstract
BACKGROUND The distinctive features of the digital reality platforms, namely augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR), and mixed reality (MR) have extended to medical education, training, simulation, and patient care. Furthermore, this digital reality technology seamlessly merges with information and communication technology creating an enriched telehealth ecosystem. This review provides a composite overview of the prospects of telehealth delivered using the MR platform in clinical settings. OBJECTIVE This review identifies various clinical applications of high-fidelity digital display technology, namely AR, VR, and MR, delivered using telehealth capabilities. Next, the review focuses on the technical characteristics, hardware, and software technologies used in the composition of AR, VR, and MR in telehealth. METHODS We conducted a scoping review using the methodological framework and reporting design using the PRISMA-ScR (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses Extension for Scoping Reviews) guidelines. Full-length articles in English were obtained from the Embase, PubMed, and Web of Science databases. The search protocol was based on the following keywords and Medical Subject Headings to obtain relevant results: "augmented reality," "virtual reality," "mixed-reality," "telemedicine," "telehealth," and "digital health." A predefined inclusion-exclusion criterion was developed in filtering the obtained results and the final selection of the articles, followed by data extraction and construction of the review. RESULTS We identified 4407 articles, of which 320 were eligible for full-text screening. A total of 134 full-text articles were included in the review. Telerehabilitation, telementoring, teleconsultation, telemonitoring, telepsychiatry, telesurgery, and telediagnosis were the segments of the telehealth division that explored the use of AR, VR, and MR platforms. Telerehabilitation using VR was the most commonly recurring segment in the included studies. AR and MR has been mainly used for telementoring and teleconsultation. The most important technical features of digital reality technology to emerge with telehealth were virtual environment, exergaming, 3D avatars, telepresence, anchoring annotations, and first-person viewpoint. Different arrangements of technology-3D modeling and viewing tools, communication and streaming platforms, file transfer and sharing platforms, sensors, high-fidelity displays, and controllers-formed the basis of most systems. CONCLUSIONS This review constitutes a recent overview of the evolving digital AR and VR in various clinical applications using the telehealth setup. This combination of telehealth with AR, VR, and MR allows for remote facilitation of clinical expertise and further development of home-based treatment. This review explores the rapidly growing suite of technologies available to users within the digital health sector and examines the opportunities and challenges they present.

Telehealth Management of Dysphagia in Adults: A Survey of Speech Language Pathologists' Experiences and Perceptions. Dysphagia 2022:10.1007/s00455-022-10544-z. Abstract
The goal of this study was to explore telehealth use for dysphagia management in response to COVID-19 to understand variables associated with clinician confidence and perceived effectiveness of this service delivery model and determine clinician-perceived benefits and challenges of managing dysphagia via telehealth. Speech-language pathologists (SLPs, n = 235) completed a web-based survey, providing information on demographics, telehealth use during the pandemic, and perspectives on current and future tele-management of dysphagia. Analyses included descriptive statistics to examine usage patterns; logistic regression to determine which variables were associated with telehealth use, clinician confidence, and perceived-effectiveness; and conventional content analysis to analyze responses to open-ended questions. Results revealed a sharp increase in the tele-management of dysphagia during the pandemic. Years of experience with dysphagia management (p = .031) and pre-pandemic use of telehealth (p < .001) were significantly associated with current use patterns. Working in the outpatient setting was associated with greater clinician confidence (p = .003) and perceived effectiveness (p = .007), and use of guidelines (p = .042) was also associated with greater clinician confidence. Key challenges identified included inadequate technological infrastructure, inadequate patient digital literacy, and reimbursement restrictions. Key benefits were treatment continuity, improving access to care, and time savings. The majority (67%) of respondents reported that they would use telehealth in the future. These findings demonstrate SLPs' abilities and desire to expand their practice patterns to include telehealth for dysphagia management. Therefore, clinician training and more research on best practices for assessment and treatment of dysphagia via telehealth is warranted to refine models of care for dysphagia tele-management.

Abstract
Studies have shown that virtual clinics enjoyed high use and high patient satisfaction during the COVID-19 pandemic. Thus, virtual clinics are expected to be the new normal mode of receiving care after the COVID-19 pandemic. This study aimed to assess public awareness and use of virtual clinics following the pandemic and identify factors associated with virtual clinic use. Methods: A cross-sectional design was employed in which data were collected via a structured online questionnaire based on the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) domains: perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, and social influence. Participants were selected based on the non-probability sampling of convenience. Univariate, bivariate, and binary logistic regression models were used for analysis. Results: A total of 405 responses were received; of those, 286 (70.6%) were aware of the existence of virtual clinics and 99 (34.6%) were post-pandemic users. Among users, 50% used virtual clinics more than two times, 72% used virtual clinics to seek care for themselves, with the vast majority using it via voice calls (83.8%), and for visits to the family medicine clinic (55%). Young adults, females, single adults, those with a higher level of education, the employed, and those with lower income were more likely to use virtual clinics (p < 0.05). The logistic regression model showed that 20% of the variation in virtual clinic use was explained by perceived usefulness and perceived use (p < 0.001). Conclusion: This study showed high awareness of virtual clinics among the population following the COVID-19 pandemic, with one-third being active users. Age, gender, marital status, education, income, employment status, perceived usefulness, and ease of use are associated with virtual clinics’ awareness and use. Considering those factors is important when planning for sustained use of e-health and virtual care.

Abstract
Background
Similar to many low- and middle-income countries, Botswana has identified eHealth as a means of improving health care service provision and delivery. The National Malaria Programme (NMP) in Botswana has implemented the District Health Information System version 2 (DHIS2) to support timely malaria case reporting across its 27 health districts; however, the implementation of an eHealth system is never without challenges. Barriers to the implementation of eHealth innovations within health care settings may arise at the individual or organizational levels. As such, the evaluation of user perceptions of the technology is an important step that can inform its sustainable implementation. The DHIS2 was implemented without evaluating user perceptions beforehand; therefore, the Botswana Ministry of Health and Wellness was uncertain about the likelihood of acceptance and use of the platform.
Objective
We aimed to determine the acceptance of the DHIS2 platform by the NMP in Botswana to gauge whether adoption would be successful.
Methods
The study’s design was informed by constructs of the technology acceptance model. A survey, with items assessed using a 7-point Likert scale, and focus group discussions were undertaken with DHIS2 core users from 27 health districts and NMP personnel at the Ministry of Health and Wellness. The web-based survey was administered from August 3, 2020 to September 30, 2020.
Results
Survey participants were core users (n=27). Focus group participants were NMP personnel (n=5). Overall, participants’ survey responses (frequently occurring scores of 7) showed their confidence in the DHIS2 platform for case-based surveillance of malaria; however, participants also noted some organizational issues that could compromise user acceptance of the DHIS2 platform.
Conclusions
Participants’ responses indicated their acceptance of the DHIS2 platform; however, the consideration of factors related to organizational readiness could further enhance successful acceptance, and consequently, successful adoption of the platform by the malaria program in Botswana.

Abstract
Objective: To explore professionals', adult patients', and children's caregivers' perception and satisfaction with telerehabilitation during COVID-19 lockdown. Design: An observational transversal study on a web-based survey was conducted in order to explore participants' perception and satisfaction of telerehabilitation during COVID-19 lockdown. Setting: The study was conducted at our Outpatient Neurorehabilitation Service. Subjects: All rehabilitation professionals, adult patients, and children's caregivers who accepted telerehabilitation were recruited. Interventions: Participants had to respond to the Client Satisfaction Questionnaire-8 and to a purpose-built questionnaire on their perception and satisfaction of the service provided. Main Measures: Data were analyzed by qualitative statistics and logistic regression models. Results: All 144 caregivers, 25 adult patients, and 50 professionals reported a medium-high level of perception and a high level of satisfaction. Results showed a correlation among caregivers of children aged 0-3 and feeling overwhelmed with remote care (OR = 3.27), a low perception of telerehabilitation for enhancing goals (OR = 6.51), and a high perception of feeling helped in organizing daily activity (OR = 2.96). For caregivers of children aged over 6 years, changes in the therapy plan were related to a low perception of feeling in line with the in-person therapy (OR = 2.61 and OR = 9.61) and a low satisfaction (OR = 5.54 and OR = 4.97). Changes in therapy were related to concern (OR = 4.20). Caregivers under 40 and professionals showed a high probability to perceive telerehabilitation as supportive (OR = 2.27 and OR = 5.68). Level of experience with remote media was shown to influence perception and satisfaction. Interpretation: Telerehabilitation can be a useful practice both during a health emergency and in addition to in-presence therapy.
