Abstract
BACKGROUND This study examines the association between the non-high-density lipoprotein cholesterol to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol ratio (NHHR) and urinary stones in American adults. METHODS We conducted a cross-sectional study utilizing the 2007-2018 National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) data set. The prevalence of urinary stones was determined based on patient-reported experiences of renal colic. We converted NHHR to natural logarithm (ln-NHHR) to align it better with our statistical analyses. Our analysis methods included weighted multivariate logistic regression, generalized additive model (GAM), and application of smoothed curves to better elucidate the association between ln-NHHR and the prevalence of urinary stones. In addition, we conducted subgroup analyses and employed multiple imputation for sensitivity analyses. RESULTS This study involved a total of 30,903 participants, with a 9.97% prevalence of urinary stones and reported colic experience. Elevated ln-NHHR levels were linked with a higher likelihood of urinary stones (OR = 1.20, 95% CI 1.07-1.35). Smooth curve fitting revealed an inverted U-shaped relationship, pinpointing a significant increase in urinary stone risk at ln-NHHR levels below 1.43 (OR = 1.40, 95% CI 1.19-1.64, p < 0.001). Notably, this correlation was stronger among Non-Hispanic Whites and those married or living with a partner. Multiple imputation analyses strengthened the confidence in our results. CONCLUSIONS Our findings suggest a reverse U-shaped association between urinary stone occurrence and NHHR level, with a positive association at ln-NHHR < 1.43. This correlation was more pronounced in the Non-Hispanic White population and among those married or living with a partner.

Abstract
INTRODUCTION Our primary goal was to investigate the independent and combined associations of physical activity (PA) and sitting time (ST) with femoral bone health among cancer survivors aged 60 or older. MATERIALS AND METHODS This cross-sectional study included 1159 cancer survivors aged 60 years or older who underwent femur dual-energy X-ray absorptiometry (DXA) examination from continuous National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey data sets. PA and ST were assessed by self-report, and bone health included bone mineral density (BMD) at all femoral sub-regions, osteopenia/osteoporosis of femoral neck, and total fracture. The independent and combined associations of PA and ST with femoral bone health were determined using multivariable linear or logistic regression analyses. RESULTS More than 40% cancer survivors reported engaging in PA < 150 min/week with ST ≥ 6 h/d. PA solely showed no association with bone health at femur sites. Prolonged ST was associated with lower femur's BMD, higher prevalence of osteopenia/osteoporosis, and total fracture. Specifically, the negative association of prolonged ST and femur's BMD was shown in PA ≥ 150 min/week group, but not in PA < 150 min/week group. In combined analysis, prolonged ST with PA ≥ 150 min/week showed the strongest negative associations with femur's BMD. CONCLUSION PA appears not to be directly associated with femoral bone health. Higher ST is associated with lower BMD and a higher incidence of total fractures, regardless of PA level, among cancer survivors aged 60 or older.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Prior research has demonstrated that nutrition plays a crucial role in the establishment and maturation of the reproductive lifetime. Although the specific dietary components involved in preventing or postponing the reproductive lifespan are still unknown, a healthy diet can affect the reproductive lifespan. Here, the study aimed to explore the relationship between reproductive lifespan and diet quality by utilizing the Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015). METHODS In this study, a total of 2761 postmenopausal women were selected from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) from 2005 to 2016. Diet quality was determined using HEI-2015 based on two 24-hour dietary recalls. Reproductive lifespan was defined as the number of years between self-reported age at menarche and menopause. Weighted linear regression and eXtreme Gradient Boosting (XGBoost) models were used to analyze the relationship between HEI-2015 and reproductive lifespan. Subsequently, the impact of various components of HEI-2015 on reproductive lifespan was assessed through weighted quantile sum (WQS) regression models. RESULTS Among 2761 postmenopausal women, the mean age was 63.7 years. 41.5% were obese, and 49.7% were non-Hispanic white. After adjusting for sociodemographic characteristics, lifestyle factors, and medical history, individuals in the highest tertile of HEI-2015 had a 4.81% (95% CI: 1.82-7.79%) longer reproductive time life. Higher HEI-2015 was also significantly associated with a higher likelihood of late menopause (p for trend < 0.05). Based on XGBoost models, the relative importance of HEI-2015 on reproductive lifespan was determined. Whole fruits, whole grains, total protein foods, and greens and beans significantly contributed to extending age at menopause and reproductive time life in the HEI-2015. The weights of the WQS index for age at menopause were 27.1%, 23.2%, 10.1%, and 7.5% respectively, while the weights of the WQS index for reproductive time life were 30.2%, 14.6%, 9.3%, and 14.0% respectively. CONCLUSION There is a positive association between the HEI-2015 and reproductive lifespan. This underscores the significance of enhancing adherence to healthy dietary patterns in preventing a shorter reproductive lifespan.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the association between cardiovascular health (CVH) measured by Life's Essential 8 (LE8) and the prevalence of urinary incontinence (UI). METHOD A cross-section study was conducted using data from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2007-2012. 22,609 people aged ≥ 20 years with complete information on LE8 metrics and UI questionnaires were enrolled. Participants were divided into three groups (low: < 50, moderate: ≥ 50 and < 80, high: ≥ 80) based on the cut-off of LE8. Weighted proportions, multivariable logistic regression analysis and stratified logistic regression were performed to examine the association between LE8 and the prevalence of three types of UI separately (stress UI (SUI), urge UI (UUI), mixed UI (MUI)) by confounding factors adjusted. Spline smooth was conducted to find whether a linear relationship existed. In addition, sensitive analyses were also conducted to observe the stability. RESULT A total of 22,609 adults were involved in the study, and participants were divided into three groups (low 42.2 ± 6.3, moderate 66.1 ± 8.1, high 86.8 ± 5.1) according to the cut-off points of LE8. The multivariable logistic regression suggested that LE8 is inversely associated with the prevalence of SUI (OR = 0.98, 95%CI 0.98 to 0.99), UUI (OR = 0.98, 95%CI 0.98 to 0.99), and MUI (OR = 0.98, 95%CI 0.97 to 0.98) in the fully-adjusted model. Compared with the low group, people with high scores of LE8 had a lower prevalence of SUI (OR = 0.45, 95%CI 0.37 to 0.55), UUI (OR = 0.49, 95%CI 0.40 to 0.60), and MUI (OR = 0.41, 95%CI 0.30 to 0.55). The result of the sensitive analysis showed the robustness of the main analysis. CONCLUSION The prevalence of UI (SUI, UUI, or MUI) is inversely associated with the LE8 score, which suggests that maintaining a good CVH with a higher LE8 score is accompanied by lower prevalence rates of UUI, SUI, and MUI.

Abstract
Background Different dietary habits can have varying effects on human health and metabolism, and these can be intervened and regulated. Kidney stones, as a disease caused by multiple factors, are largely attributed to diet and metabolism, but the potential causal relationship with dietary intake habits remains unclear. Therefore, this study aims to link the predicted dietary intake based on 45 genetic factors with urolithiasis and explore the potential causal relationship. Methods We extracted complete genome-wide association studies (GWASs) data on 45 dietary intake traits from the UK Biobank study. Data on kidney stones were obtained from the FinnGen database. In both univariable and multivariable Mendelian randomization analyses, we used inverse variance weighted (IVW) as the primary method to calculate P values, odds ratios (ORs), and 95% confidence intervals (CIs). We examined result heterogeneity using Cochran's Q test. We also carefully investigated potential sources of horizontal pleiotropy using the Mendelian randomization (MR)-PRESSO and MR-Egger methods, and conducted linkage disequilibrium score regression (LDSC) analysis on the corrected P values. Results Through univariable analysis, we identified 11 dietary habits that potentially causally associate with kidney stones among the 45 examined traits, including 9 protective factors and 2 risk factors. Based on the corrected results with false discovery rate (FDR) and sensitivity analysis, we found one relatively robust evidence. We controlled for common stone risk factors, such as body mass index and smoking, as confounders in multivariable analysis, and no significant results were observed after controlling for these confounders. Based on the LDSC analysis, most of the evidence supports significant genetic correlations with urolithiasis among the 11 traits with potential causal associations. Conclusions This study confirms the impact of certain dietary factors on the development of kidney stones. Our findings contribute to providing evidence for dietary adjustments in daily life or dietary guidance specifically targeting kidney stone patients.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To investigate the association between physical activity (PA) and the prevalence of kidney stones. METHODS A cross-section study was conducted using data from National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey 2007-2018. PA was evaluated based on the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire. Multivariable logistic regression was performed to elucidate the association between PA (patterns, intensity, duration, and frequency of moderate and vigorous PA) and the prevalence of kidney stones after adjusting for potential confounders. Stratified and interaction analyses were conducted to detect potential effect modifiers. In addition, PA was assessed using metabolic equivalent and physical volume, and followed the regression above. Water intake was obtained from the day 2 dietary recall and was included in the sensitivity analysis. RESULTS A total of 34,390 participants were included in the analysis. The multivariable logistic regression revealed that individuals who engaged in moderate PA for 30-60 minutes per day had a significant inverse association with the prevalence of kidney stones in the fully adjusted model (odds ratio=0.804, 95% confidence interval 0.700 to 0.923), while no more significant finding was observed for other PA parameters. Interaction and stratified analyses indicated no covariate modifying the association. The results above were robust in the sensitivity analysis. CONCLUSION The duration of moderate PA (30-60 min/d) is inversely associated with the prevalence of kidney stones, while no more significant association was observed between other PA parameters (including patterns, intensity, duration, and frequency of vigorous PA, frequency of moderate PA) and kidney stones.

Abstract
Purpose Added sugar is associated with a variety of adverse health outcomes, but its association with kidney stones is unclear. This study was to determine whether added sugar is associated with kidney stones. Materials and methods This nationally representative study used National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) datasets from 2007 to 2018 for analysis. People aged ≥20 years who reported a history of kidney stones and provided dietary recall data on added sugars were included. Weighted proportions, multivariable logistic regression analysis and stratified logistic regression were used to evaluate the associations between added sugars and kidney stones by adjusting potential confounders. Results Totally 28,303 adults were included, with weighted mean age [95% confidence interval (CI)] of 48.03 (47.56, 48.51) years, 47.74% (47.09, 48.40%) males and 52.26% (51.60, 52.91%) females. The overall mean (95% CI) energy intake from added sugars was 272.10 (266.59, 277.60) kilocalories. In the fully-adjusted multivariable model, the percentage of energy intake from added sugars was positively correlated with kidney stones. Compared to the first quartile of added sugar energy intake percentage, the population in the fourth quartile had a higher prevalence of kidney stones (OR = 1.39; 95% CI 1.17 to 1.65). Compared with the less than 5% calories from added sugar population, the more than or equal to 25% calories from added sugar had a higher kidney stone prevalence (OR = 1.88; 95% CI 1.52 to 2.32). Conclusion A higher percentage of energy intake from added sugars is significantly associated with a higher prevalence of kidney stones. This study provides cross-sectional evidence for the relationship between added sugars and health outcomes.

Abstract
OBJECTIVE To explore the association between circadian syndrome (CircS) and the prevalence of kidney stones in overweight people. MATERIALS AND METHODS A cross-sectional analysis was conducted based on the NHANES 2007-2018. Overweight people aged ≥ 20 years were the target population. Three multivariable logistic regression models were built to examine the association between CircS and kidney stones. Subgroup analysis based on age, gender, and race were also employed. Interaction and stratification analysis was also conducted to identify whether some factors modify the association. RESULT A total of 4,603 overweight participants were included in the study. The multivariable logistic regression suggested that CircS was positively associated with the prevalence of kidney stones (OR = 1.422, 95% CI 1.057 to 1.912). The subgroup analysis showed that the association was more obvious in females (OR = 1.604, 95% CI 1.023 to 2.516) or in the population aged 35 to 49 years old (OR = 2.739, 95% CI 1.428 to 5.254). Additionally, the same trend was present when people were Mexican American (OR = 3.834, 95% CI 1.790 to 8.215) or other races (OR = 4.925, 95% CI 1.776 to 13.656). The interaction and stratification analysis showed that the results above were robust. CONCLUSION CircS was positively associated with the prevalence of kidney stones in overweight people, especially people as females, aged 35 to 49, and Mexican Americans.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Healthy Eating Index-2015 (HEI-2015), a healthy eating pattern proposed by Dietary Guidelines for Americans, is proven to be protective against various diseases. However, whether it is associated with age-related cataracts is unknown. METHODS This population-based cross-sectional study included 6395 participants from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey (NHANES) in the cycles from 2005 to 2008. HEI-2015 was calculated from 24-h dietary recall interviews, ranging from 0 to 100, and higher HEI-2015 represents better diet quality. Age-related cataract was generated from the questionnaire. The association between HEI-2015 and cataract was assessed with logistic regression models. Propensity score weighting, restricted cubic spline, and subgroup analysis were conducted to further explore the relationship. RESULTS 6395 participants were included in the study, with a mean [standard deviation (SD)] age of 48.7 (15.3) years and 3115 (48.7%) being male. HEI-2015 was negatively associated with cataracts after adjusting all covariates included, both as a continuous variable [odds ratio (OR): 0.991, 95% confidence interval (CI): 0.984-0.997, p = 0.006] and quartiles with the highest quartile compared to the lowest (OR: 0.739, 95% CI: 0.559-0.980, p = 0.035). After propensity score weighting, the association remained significant. Restricted cubic spline revealed no non-linear relationship (p for non-linearity 0.085). Subgroup analysis showed that there were no interaction effects. CONCLUSIONS Adherence to the healthy eating pattern, HEI-2015, was associated with a lower risk of age-related cataracts.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Low klotho is associated with aging-related traits. However, no study has assessed the association between klotho and oral health in a large sample of population. This study aimed to explore the association between serum α-klotho and oral health in US Adults. METHODS Data were from the National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey. Oral health parameters included periodontitis, self-rated oral health, and tooth loss. Logistic regression and restricted cubic spline models were adopted to evaluate the associations. RESULTS A total of 6187 participants were included in the study. The median of the α-klotho level was 815.2 pg/mL. Serum α-Klotho was significantly lower in participants with poor oral health (all P <0.01). Compared with the highest tertile, the lowest tertile of α-klotho was associated with moderate/severe periodontitis, poor-rated oral health, and tooth loss, with OR (95% CI) being 1.21 (1.01, 1.48), 1.26 (1.01, 1.56) and 1.38 (1.05, 1.84), respectively. An increment of per 1 standard deviation in the α-klotho concentration was associated with lower odds of moderate/severe periodontitis (OR: 0.93; 95% CI: 0.87, 0.99). Linear dose-response relationships were found between α-klotho and the odds of moderate/severe periodontitis (P for non-linearity=0.88) and poor-rated oral health (P for non-linearity=0.66). An L-shaped dose-response relationship was found between levels of α-klotho and the odds of tooth loss (P for non-linearity=0.04). CONCLUSIONS Serum α-klotho was associated with oral health. Further studies are necessary to clarify the potential mechanisms and demonstrate the predictive ability of klotho in oral diseases.
