Abstract
Objective The Mediterranean diet (MedDiet) has been found to have benefits for diabetes mellitus (DM), but a bibliometric analysis of its association with DM has yet to be conducted. This paper aims to explore the current status and research hotspots on the connection between the Mediterranean diet and DM from 2014 to 2024, providing a reference for future studies. Methods We retrieved articles published between 2014 and 2024 from the Web of Science database and analyzed them using R software, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Results A total of 2,806 articles were included in this study. Research on the relationship between the MedDiet and DM showed a steady increase in publication volume from 2014 to 2019, followed by a sharp rise from 2020 to 2023. Spain was the leading country in terms of publication volume, followed by Italy, the United States, China, and Greece. Spain also led in international collaborations, with CIBER-Centro de Investigación Biomédica en Red and Harvard University being the most prominent collaboration centers. Nutrients was the most frequently published and cited journal in this field. Common keywords in this literature included components such as olive oil, legumes, and red wine. Mechanisms studied in this field primarily focused on antioxidant effects, improvements in insulin sensitivity and secretion, regulation of lipid metabolism, and modulation of gut microbiota. Conclusion Research on the beneficial effects of the MedDiet on DM patients has garnered significant attention from researchers worldwide, and it is expected to become a major focus for future DM prevention and treatment. This study provides a comprehensive analysis of the current status and research hotspots regarding the relationship between the MedDiet and DM, offering valuable references for future research.

Abstract
Aim Bibliometric and data visualization methods were used to identify the current status, key areas, and emerging frontiers in ropivacaine research. Methods We conducted a comprehensive search of the Web of Science database for publications related to ropivacaine published from 2000 to 2023. The publication types were limited to original articles and reviews. We utilized CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the online bibliometric platform to visualize and analyze the collected data. Results A total of 4,147 publications related to ropivacaine were identified, with a consistent growth in annual publications over time. The United States emerged as the most influential country in the field of ropivacaine research, and ranked first in the annual number of publications until 2014. China surpassed the United States in the number of publications for the first time in 2015 and has remained in first place ever since. Of all the research institutions in the field of ropivacaine, University of Copenhagen in Denmark exhibited the highest impact. Brian M. Ilfeld and Casati A were identified as the most influential authors. The leading researchers in this field primarily focused their publications on continuous nerve blocks for postoperative analgesia and ultrasound-guided nerve block techniques. An analysis of reference co-citation clustering revealed 18 distinct research clusters, with current hotspots including erector spinae plane block, dexmedetomidine, quadratus lumborum block, labor analgesia, and mitochondrial respiration. Additionally, keywords analysis indicated that "dexmedetomidine as an adjuvant in nerve blocks" currently represents a research hotspot in the field of ropivacaine. Conclusion This bibliometric analysis provides a comprehensive overview of the research landscape in ropivacaine. It reveals research trends in this field and emerging areas for future investigations. Notably, the application of ropivacaine in nerve blocks is a prominent focus in current research, with a particular emphasis on its combination with dexmedetomidine.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite numerous studies confirming the association between insulin resistance (IR) and macrophage polarization, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis in this area. Therefore, our objective is to conduct a comprehensive analysis of published literature and identify potential future research trends using bibliometrics. METHOD Publications on the topic of macrophage polarization in IR were gathered from the Web of Science Core Collection database (WoSCC) spanning the years 1999-2023. Bibliometric analysis and visualization were conducted using VOSviewers, CiteSpace, the R package "bibliometrix" and Tableau Public. RESULT A total of 3435 articles published between 1999 and 2023 were included in the analysis. These articles originated from 75 countries, with the United States and China leading in contributions. The top five research institutions are the University of California, San Diego, Harvard University, the University of Michigan, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and Huazhong University of Science and Technology. In this research domain, Diabetes is the most frequently published journal, and the Journal of Clinical Investigation is the most co-cited. Among the 19,398 authors contributing to these publications, Lumeng CN. not only authored the most papers but also received the highest number of co-citations. "Insulin resistance" emerges as a primary keyword in the analysis of emerging research hotspots. CONCLUSION For the first time, bibliometric methods have been employed to conduct a comprehensive summary of papers relevant to macrophage polarization in IR. This study aims to identify the current research direction and future research hotspots, offering valuable guidance and insights for scholars in the field.

Abstract
There is substantial evidence from clinical and preclinical studies suggesting an association between metformin use and a reduced risk of cancer. However, the effects of metformin use on cancers have not yet been subjected to bibliometric analysis. The goal of this study was to explore the potential effects of metformin use on cancers and to conduct a comprehensive assessment of research hotspots related to the use of metformin on cancers. The results of the literature analysis were visualized using various tools such as Adobe Illustrator CC 2018, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometric." The average annual publications from 2013 to 2023 was 372. In terms of journals and co-cited journals, a total of 1,064 journals published 1958 papers, and Oncotarget published the highest number of papers (n = 153, 7.81%), while Cancer Research (Co-citation = 5,125) was the most frequently cited journal. A total of 25,665 authors participated in the research on metformin use on cancers. Metformin has demonstrated improved outcomes in various types of cancer, including breast cancer (BC), lung cancer (LC), colorectal cancer (CRC), prostate cancer (PC), and pancreatic cancer. This bibliometric analysis reviews the current literature on the clinical data on metformin use on cancers and describes the preclinical evidence illustrating the potential mechanisms of metformin use on various cancers directly or indirectly.

Abstract
Importance Lignans are phytoestrogens abundant in Western diets and may be associated with type 2 diabetes (T2D) risk. Objective To prospectively investigate associations between lignan intake and T2D incidence. Design, Setting, and Participants Population-based cohort study of US men and women enrolled in the Nurses' Health Study (NHS, 1984-2018), NHSII (1991-2019), and Health Professionals Follow-Up Study (HPFS, 1986-2020), as well as 496 participants from the Men's Lifestyle Validation Study (MLVS). Participants were free of T2D, cardiovascular disease, and cancer at baseline. Data were analyzed from November 2022 to July 2023. Exposures Total and individual lignans were assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire, which was updated every 2 to 4 years. In the MLVS, lignan intake was measured using 2 sets of 7-day diet records (7DDRs). Main Outcomes and Measures Incident T2D cases were confirmed using American Diabetes Association diagnostic criteria. Cox proportional hazards models were used to assess multivariable-adjusted associations. Results The current study included 201 111 participants (mean [SD] age, 44.7 [10.1] years; 161 169 female participants [80.2%]; 2614 African American participants [1.3%], 1609 Asian participants [0.8%], 2414 Hispanic and other race or ethnicity participants [1.2%], and 194 474 White participants [96.7%]) from the HPFS, NHS, and NHSII studies. The median (IQR) total lignan intake of the highest quintile ranged from 355.1 (330.2-396.9) μg/d in NHS to 459.9 (422.2-519.5) μg/d in HPFS at the median follow-up time. Over 5 068 689 person-years, 20 291 incident cases of T2D were identified. Higher lignan intake was inversely associated with T2D incidence, except for lariciresinol. The multivariable-adjusted pooled hazard ratios (HRs) for the highest vs lowest quintiles were 0.87 (95% CI, 0.83-0.91) for total lignans, 0.72 (95% CI, 0.69-0.76) for secoisolariciresinol, 0.92 (95% CI, 0.87-0.96) for pinoresinol, 0.93 (95% CI, 0.89-0.98) for matairesinol, and 0.99 (95% CI, 0.94-1.04) for lariciresinol. Secoisolariciresinol intake exhibited a significant inverse association with T2D risk among individuals with obesity (HR, 0.75 for body mass index [BMI] ≥30; 95% CI, 0.71-0.79 vs HR, 0.82 for BMI <25; 95% CI, 0.81-0.83; P < .001 for interaction) and premenopausal women (HR, 0.67 for premenopausal women; 95% CI, 0.65-0.69 vs HR, 0.82 for the past use of hormones; 95% CI, 0.76-0.88; P = .003 for interaction). Dietary lignan assessed with 7DDRs was associated with lower HbA1c levels (percentage change range from -0.92% to 1.50%), as well as lower C-reactive protein levels and better lipid profiles. Conclusions and Relevance This cohort study found that long-term lignan consumption was associated with a lower T2D risk, particularly among individuals with obesity and premenopausal women.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Recently, significant scientific research breakthroughs have been witnessed in the treatment of chronic insomnia. However, it seems that there is currently no bibliometric analysis of this. Therefore, we hope to comprehensively review and analyze the scholarly system and research focus in the field of chronic insomnia treatment through bibliometric methods. METHODS Between 2000 and 2023, we explored various papers in relation to the treatment of chronic insomnia in the Web of Science Core Collection(WOSCC) database. Subsequently, the collected papers were subjected to bibliometric analysis utilizing CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the "bibliometric" package in R language. RESULTS With China and the United States(USA) among them, a total of 2937 papers were published across 49 countries. Publications related to the treatment of chronic insomnia were increasing year by year. The Laval University, Washington University, Pittsburgh University, and Stanford University were key research institutions. The journal Sleep was widely popular in the field and was also one of the most cited journals. These papers came from 148 authors, with Morin, Charles M., Roth, Thomas, Espie, Colin A., Harvey, Allison G., and Buysse, Daniel J. publishing the most papers and Morin, cm being co-cited the most. The treatment process of chronic insomnia can be divided into three main stages: drug intervention, diseases related to chronic insomnia, and cognitive behavioral therapy and mental health. Keywords such as "children and adolescents", "novel coronavirus pneumonia" (COVID-19), "mental health" and "heart failure" have become the focus of current research. CONCLUSIONS We carried out a detailed bibliometric review of the development trends and research results of chronic insomnia research through this study for the first time. The information it provides reveals recent research hotspots and cutting-edge issues, providing valuable reference materials for researchers focusing on the treatment of chronic insomnia.

Abstract
Esophageal cancer (EC) is a malignant tumour with high morbidity and mortality rates. Recent studies have shown that much progress has been made in the research of radiotherapy in EC. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots of radiotherapy in EC through bibliometrics. Publications related to radiotherapy in EC from 2014 to 2023 were searched on the web of science core collection database. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package 'bibliometrix' were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. In total, 4258 articles from 76 countries led by China and the USA were included. The Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences-Peking Union Medical College has the highest number of publications. International Journal of Radiation Oncology Biology Physics is the most popular journal and also the most co-cited journal in this field. These publications come from 21 972 authors among which Liao Zhongxing had published the most papers and Cooper JS was co-cited most often. Neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy and strategies based on it are the main topics in this research field. 'IMRT' and 'immunotherapy' are the primary keywords of emerging research hotspots. This is a bibliometric study that comprehensively summarizes the research trends and developments of radiotherapy in EC. This information identifies recent research frontiers and hot directions, which will provide a reference for scholars studying radiotherapy in EC.

Abstract
Background Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is a persistent inflammatory disease caused by an autoimmune response that predominantly affects multiple organs and systems. Growing evidence highlights the critical role of precision-targeted therapies in the management of SLE. Surprisingly, only a handful of bibliometric studies have thoroughly assessed this area. This study attempts to assess the global landscape of literature output and research trends related to precision-targeted therapy for SLE. Method Publications related to precision-targeted therapy for SLE from 2003 to 2023 were searched in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and the R package "bibliometrix" were used to perform this bibliometric analysis. Results A total of 3700 papers were retrieved, showing a steady annual increase in publications from 2003 to 2022. The United States led the field with the highest number of papers (36.1 %) and secured the top position in terms of citation frequency (59,889) and H-index (115). Anhui Medical University System claimed the top spot with an impressive output of 70 papers. Principal investigators Tsokos, George C. C., and Lu, Qianjin led the research effort. Among the journals, Frontiers in Immunology stood out, publishing the highest number of articles with 191. In particular, precision-targeted therapy for SLE has become a major research focus in recent years, covering aspects such as T cells, B cells, oxidative stress, remission, and PHASE-III. Conclusion This bibliometric study of ours systematically analyses research trends in precision targeted therapy for systemic lupus erythematosus, and this information identifies the research frontiers and hot directions in recent years and will serve as a reference for scientists working on targeted therapies.

Abstract
BACKGROUND Despite the rarity of appendiceal tumors, research in this field has intensified, resulting in a growing number of studies and published papers. Surprisingly, no comprehensive bibliometric analysis has specifically addressed appendiceal tumors. AIM To offer a thorough analysis of the current landscape and future trends in appendiceal tumor research. METHODS In our bibliometric analysis studies, we explored the Web of Science Core Collection database. The bibliographic details of the chosen publications were automatically converted and analyzed using the bibliometric package in the R environment. Additionally, we employed VoSviewer to create cooperation network maps for countries, institutions, and authors, as well as clustering maps for keywords. Furthermore, CiteSpace, another software tool, was utilized to build dual-map overlays of journals and analyze references with citation bursts. RESULTS Our study included 780 English-language articles published after 2010. The number of related publications and citations has increased in the past decade. The United States leads in this area, but there is a need to improve cooperation and communication among countries and institutions. Co-occurrence analysis also revealed close collaboration among different authors. Annals of Surgical Oncology was the most influential journal in this field. Analysis of references with high co-citations and references with citation bursts, consistent with analysis of keywords and hotspots, indicated that current research primarily centers on the classification and management of appendiceal mucinous neoplasms and consequent pseudomyxoma peritonei. Despite the abundance of clinical studies, a greater number of in-depth basic research studies should be conducted. CONCLUSION Current research on appendiceal tumors focuses on classification and management of appendiceal mucinous neoplasms and pseudomyxoma peritonei. Enhanced collaboration and basic research are vital for further advancement.

Abstract
Objective We utilized bibliometric and data visualization techniques to discern the primary research domains and emerging frontiers in the field of adult hippocampal neurogenesis (AHN). Methods We systematically searched the Web of Science database for AHN-related articles published between 2004 and 2023. The retrieved articles were filtered based on publication types (articles and reviews) and language (English). We employed CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and the online bibliometric platform (bibliometric.com) to visualize and analyze the collected data. Results In total, 1,590 AHN-related publications were discovered, exhibiting a steady increase in yearly publications over time. The United States emerged as the leading contributor in AHN research in terms of both publication quantity and national influence. Among all research institutions in the field of AHN, the University of California System exhibited the highest impact. Kempermann, Gerd was the most active author. The publications of the top three active authors primarily focused on the functions of AHN, and reversing hippocampal damage and cognitive impairment by improving AHN. An analysis of reference co-citation clustering revealed 8 distinct research clusters, and the notable ones included "adult hippocampal neurogenesis," "neurogenesis," "hippocampus," "dentate gyrus," "neural stem cell," and "depression." Additionally, a burst keyword detection indicated that 'anxiety' is a current research hotspot in the field of AHN. Conclusion This in-depth bibliographic assessment of AHN offers a deeper insight into the present research hotspots in the field. The association between AHN and cognitive diseases, such as Alzheimer's disease (AD) and anxiety, has emerged as a prominent research hotspot.

Abstract
BACKGROUND The aim of this study is to analyze the process and frontiers of research in myocardial bridges (MB) to identify future research directions in the last 3 decades. METHODS Relevant literature on MB combined with myocardial infarction (MI) was searched from 1991 to 2023 in the Web of Science database, and was analyzed by bibliometric analysis using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and the R package "bibliometrix." RESULTS A total of 1233 English articles were included in this study. The number of published articles showed an increasing trend yearly. From 2017 to 2022, the annual publication volume rose rapidly, and in 2021 the publication volume even reached 95 articles, which was the highest in all years. These publications were from 68 countries and 1854 institutions, with the leading country being the U.S. and the leading institution being Columbia University. Myoho Clinical International has a close collaborative relationship with Columbia University, while in recent years, the Harvard Medical School has explored the study of MB combined with MI. Annals of Thoracic Surgery was the journal with the highest number of publications, and Takayama Hiroo and Naka Yoshifumi were the authors with the highest number of publications. The most common keywords were MI, cardiogenic shock, and MB. CONCLUSIONS Our findings can help researchers explore the current status of MB combined with MI research and choose new survey routes for upcoming studies. Prevalence and prognosis, mechanism of MB combined with MI and molecular mechanism may become the focus of future research. In addition, more research and cooperation are needed worldwide.

Abstract
Objective COVID-19 led to a horrific global pandemic, with strict lockdowns and prolonged indoor stays increasing the risk of mental health problems, affecting people of different ages, genders, regions, and types of work to varying degrees. This study provides a bibliometric summary of the knowledge map related to mental health during and post COVID-19 pandemic. Methods Publications related to mental health during and post COVID-19 pandemic were searched in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database through March 19, 2024. After screening the search results, the literature included in the final was first quantitatively analyzed using GraphPad Prism software and then visualized using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and R (the bibliometrix package). Results The 7,047 publications from 110 countries were included, with the highest number of publications from China and the United States, and the number of publications related to mental health during and post the COVID-19 pandemic increased annually until 2023, after which it began to decline. The major institutions were University of Toronto, University of London, Harvard University, King's College London, University College London, University of California System, University of Melbourne, Institut National De La Sante Et De La Recherche Medicale (Inserm), Mcgill University, and University of Ottawa; Frontiers in Psychiatry had the highest number of publications, and the Journal of Affective Disorders had the highest number of co-citations; 36,486 authors included, with Xiang, Yu-Tao, Cheung, Teris, Chung, Seockhoon published the most papers, and World Health Organization, Kroenke K, and Wang CY were the most co-cited; epidemiologically relevant studies on mental health related to COVID-19, and the importance of mental health during normalized epidemic prevention and control are the main directions of this research area, especially focusing on children's mental health; "pandemic," "sars-cov-2," "epidemic," "depression," "coronavirus anxiety," "anxiety," "longitudinal," "child," "coronavirus anxiety," "longitudinal," "child," and "coronavirus" are the top keywords in recent years. Conclusion This comprehensive bibliometric study summarizes research trends and advances in mental health during and after the COVID-19 Pandemic. It serves as a reference for mental health research scholars during and after the COVID-19 pandemic, clarifying recent research preoccupations and topical directions.

Due to their inherent abundance and structural diversity, polyphenols have garnered substantial attention from both the scientific and clinical communities. The review begins by providing an in-depth analysis of the chemical intricacies of polyphenols, shedding light on their structural diversity and the implications of such diversity on their biological activities. Subsequently, an exploration of the dietary origins of polyphenols elucidates the natural plant-based sources that contribute to their global availability. The discussion extends to the bioavailability and metabolism of polyphenols within the human body, unraveling the complex journey from ingestion to systemic effects. A central focus of the review is dedicated to unravelling the antioxidant effects of polyphenols, highlighting their role in combating oxidative stress and associated health conditions. The comprehensive analysis encompasses their impact on diverse health concerns such as hypertension, allergies, aging, and chronic diseases like heart stroke and diabetes. Insights into the global beneficial effects of polyphenols further underscore their potential as preventive and therapeutic agents. Abstract
BACKGROUND Mycoplasma pneumoniae (MP) infections occur in regional outbreaks every 3 to 7 years, lasting up to 2 years. Since this fall, there has been a significant rise in MP infections among children in China, indicating a regional epidemiological trend that imposes an increased national public health burden. To date, bibliometric methods have not been applied to studies on MP infection in children. METHODS We searched for all relevant English publications on MP pneumonia in children published from 2011 to 2023 using Web of Science. Analytical software tools such as Citespace and VOSviewer were employed to analyze the collected literature. RESULTS 993 articles on MP pneumonia in children were published in 338 academic journals by 5062 authors affiliated with 1381 institutions across 75 countries/regions. China led in global productivity with 56.19%. Among the top 10 prolific organizations, 8 were Chinese institutions, with Soochow University being the most active, followed by Capital Medical University and Zhejiang University. Zhimin Chen from Zhejiang University School of Medicine exhibited the highest H-index of 32. Keyword co-occurrence network analysis revealed 7 highly relevant clusters. CONCLUSION The current research hotspots and frontiers in this field are primarily MP pneumonia, refractory MP pneumonia, lactate dehydrogenase, asthma, and biomarker. We anticipate that this work will provide novel insights for advancing scientific exploration and the clinical application of MP pneumonia in children.

Abstract
Background Due to the rapid advancement of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has become extensively used for the diagnosis and prognosis of various diseases, such as lung cancer. Research in the field of literature has demonstrated that artificial intelligence (AI) can be valuable in the timely detection of lung cancer and the formulation of an effective treatment plan. This study aims to conduct a bibliometric analysis to examine and illustrate the specific areas of focus, research frontiers, evolutionary processes, and trends in existing research on artificial intelligence in the context of lung cancer. Methods Publications on AI in lung cancer were selected from the SCIE and ESCI indexes on September 19, 2023. The examination of nations, academic publications, organizations, writers, citations, and terms in this domain was visually analyzed with InCites and VOSviewer. Results In this study, a total of 4275 publications were selected and analyzed. Artificial intelligence-related lung cancer publications have increased significantly in the last 5 years. China and the USA have contributed the most to the literature in this field (1418 publications with 13.92 citation impacts and 1117 publications with 37.34 citation impacts, respectively). The institution with the highest contribution was "Chinese Academy of Sciences," with 118 publications and 29.09 citation impacts. Among the research categories, "Radiology, Nuclear Medicine & Imaging", "Oncology", and "Engineering, Biomedical" were in first place. Conclusion The USA and China have always been leaders in this field and will continue to be for some time. Research in countries such as the Netherlands is increasing. However, research collaboration has to be strengthened in developing countries.

Abstract
PURPOSE This study aims to explore the emerging trends, dynamic development, and research hotspots of clustered regularly interspaced short palindromic repeats (CRISPR) technology associated with extracellular vesicles during the past 7 years and demonstrate them by visualization. METHODS A total of 219 records related to CRISPR technology associated with extracellular vesicles from 2015 to 2022 in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database were collected. R language, VOSviewer, CiteSpace, and GraphpadPrism software packages were used to analyze the history of this research, the general characteristics of the literature, and keywords. Finally, the hotspots and latest trends in CRISPR technology associated with extracellular vesicles are predicted. RESULTS A total of 219 articles were collected for this study. The production of publications about CRISPR technology associated with extracellular vesicles has increased annually. Researchers from China, the USA, and Germany made the most important contributions to this trend, while RLUK Research Libraries UK offers the largest amount of literature in this field. Shenzhen University, Nanjing Medicine University, and Peking University exhibited the closest cooperation. Additionally, active topics burst during different periods, as identified according to 317 keywords belonging to 39 disciplines. Keywords were clustered into seven research subareas, namely exosome, nanovesicles, DNA, gene editing, gene therapy, cancer therapy, and endometrial stromal cells. The alluvial map of keywords reveals that the most enduring concepts are gene therapy, nanovesicles, etc., while the emerging keywords are genome, protein delivery, plasma, etc. CONCLUSIONS: We reviewed 219 previous publications and conducted the first bibliometric study of CRISPR technology related to extracellular vesicles from 2015 to 2022. This comprehensive summary constructed a knowledge map and demonstrates the trends in this area. The current trends and potential hotpots for this topic are also identified, which will be a great help for researchers in the future.

Abstract
OBJECTIVES This study aimed to investigate the distribution patterns and research frontiers of international literature and thus present a holistic bibliometric evaluation of the studies on IgA nephropathy. METHODS The Web of Science Core Collection database was searched for studies of IgA nephropathy from January 2012 to March 2023. The keywords and references are analyzed by CiteSpace, while the countries and institutions are analyzed by VOSviewer. RESULTS A total of 2987 publications on IgA nephropathy were included. The country with the most publications was China (n = 1299), and the institution with the most publications was Peking University (n = 139). The most frequent keywords were IgA nephropathy (n = 2013), Oxford classification (n = 482), and diseases (n = 433). The keywords that continue to burst out at high intensity are multicenter study and gut microbiota. Moreover, the top five references for burst strength were also listed. CONCLUSIONS IgA nephropathy has attracted widespread research interest, particularly in high-prevalence areas. From 2012 to 2023, publications on IgA nephropathy show a linear increase. China is the country with the highest number of publications and Peking University is the institution with the highest number of publications. Current research hotspots and frontiers are mainly multicenter studies related to IgA nephropathy and its exploration with gut microbiota. Overall, we have provided a comprehensive scientometric analysis of IgA nephropathy that will inform researchers and healthcare practitioners.

Abstract
Objective The relationship between acupoint sensitization and acupoint specificity is a topic of significant interest in acupuncture research. Numerous clinical studies have demonstrated that needling pain sensitive acupoints yields superior therapeutic outcomes compared to traditional acupoints, particularly in the context of pain disorders. However, there is a lack of bibliometric analysis in acupuncture area. Therefore, the objective of this study is to offer a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots pertaining to acupoint sensitization and acupoint specificity. Methods The search for publications pertaining to acupoint sensitization and acupoint specificity was conducted in the Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC) database from its inception until August 11, 2023. Subsequently, bibliometric analyses were carried out using VOSviewer, CiteSpace, R software (Bibliometrix package), and GraphPad Prism software. Results This study includes 4,940 articles from 72 countries, with China and the United States being the leading countries. The number of publications related to acupoint sensitization and specificity has been increasing annually. Major research institutions involved in this field include the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Kyung Hee University, Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Chinese Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences, and China Medical University, among others. "Evidence-based Complementary and Alternative Medicine" is the most popular journal in acupuncture field, and "PAIN" is the most co-cited journal. Publications are contributed by 20,325 authors from all over the world, with Wu Huangan, Fang Jianqiao, Lin Yi-Wen, Liu Huirong, and Chen Rixin having published the most articles. Han Ji-Sheng is the most cited author in this research area. The main directions include the study of temperature specificity of acupoints, the diagnosis of acupoint sensitization diseases, and the study of the mechanism of acupoint sensitization. The most listed keywords in recent years are "TRPV1," "signaling pathway," and "diagnosis." Conclusion This is the first bibliometric study to comprehensively summarize research trends and advances in acupoint sensitization and acupoint specificity, and the information highlights recent research preliminary and main directions that serve as a reference for acupoint sensitization and acupoint specificity research.

Abstract
Extracellular vesicles in wound healing have become an active research field with substantial value and potential. Nevertheless, there are few bibliometric studies in this field. We aimed to visualise the research hot spots and trends of extracellular vesicles in wound healing using a bibliometric analysis to help understand the future development of basic and clinical research. The articles and reviews regarding extracellular vesicles in the wound healing were selected from the Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package "bibliometric" were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. A total of 1225 articles from 56 countries led by China and the United States were included. The number of publications related to extracellular vesicles increased year by year. Shanghai Jiaotong University, Huazhong University of Science and Technology, Sun Yat-sen University and Central South University are the main research institutions. International Journal of Molecular Sciences is the most popular journal in this field, while Stem Cell Research & Therapy is the most frequently cited journal. These papers come from 7546 authors, among which Zhang Wei has published the most papers and Zhang Bin has the most cocited papers. The research on the treatment strategy of extracellular vesicles in the process of wound healing is the main topic in this field. "exosomes", "miRNA", "angiogenesis", "regenerative medicine", "inflammation" and "diabetic wound" are the main key words of emerging research hotspots. This is the first bibliometric study, which comprehensively summarises the research trend and development of extracellular vesicles and exocrine bodies in wound healing. These informations determine the latest research frontiers and hot directions, and provide reference for the study of extracellular vesicles and exosomes.

Abstract
Background Mood disorders are very common among adolescents and include mainly bipolar disorder (BD) and major depressive disorder (MDD), with overlapping depressive symptoms that pose a significant challenge to realizing a rapid and accurate differential diagnosis in clinical practice. Misdiagnosis of BD as MDD can lead to inappropriate treatment and detrimental outcomes, including a poorer ultimate clinical and functional prognosis and even an increased risk of suicide. Therefore, it is of great significance for clinical management to identify clinical symptoms or features and biological markers that can accurately distinguish BD from MDD. With the aid of bibliometric analysis, we explore, visualize, and conclude the important directions of differential diagnostic studies of BD and MDD in adolescents. Materials and methods A literature search was performed for studies on differential diagnostic studies of BD and MDD among adolescents in the Web of Science Core Collection database. All studies considered for this article were published between 2004 and 2023. Bibliometric analysis and visualization were performed using the VOSviewer and CiteSpace software. Results In total, 148 publications were retrieved. The number of publications on differential diagnostic studies of BD and MDD among adolescents has been generally increasing since 2012, with the United States being an emerging hub with a growing influence in the field. Boris Birmaher is the top author in terms of the number of publications, and the Journal of Affective Disorders is the most published journal in the field. Co-occurrence analysis of keywords showed that clinical characteristics, genetic factors, and neuroimaging are current research hotspots. Ultimately, we comprehensively sorted out the current state of research in this area and proposed possible research directions in future. Conclusion This is the first-ever study of bibliometric and visual analyses of differential diagnostic studies of BD and MDD in adolescents to reveal the current research status and important directions in the field. Our research and analysis results might provide some practical sources for academic scholars and clinical practice.

Abstract
Background: This study aimed to conduct a bibliometric analysis of the literature on stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury to visualize the research status, identify hotspots, and explore the development trends in this field. Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection database using relevant keywords ("stem cells" and "spinal cord injury") and retrieved the published literature between 2000 and 2022. Data such as journal title, author information, institutional affiliation, country, and keywords were extracted. Afterwards, we performed bibliometric analysis of the retrieved data using Bibliometrix, VOSviewer, and CiteSpace. Results: A total of 5375 articles related to stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury were retrieved, and both the annual publication volume and the cumulative publication volume showed an upward trend. neural regeneration research was the journal with the most publications and the fastest cumulative publication growth (162 articles), Okano Hideyuki was the author with the highest number of publications and citations (114 articles), Sun Yat-sen University was the institution with the highest number of publications (420 articles), and China was the country with the highest number of publications (5357 articles). However, different authors, institutions, and countries need to enhance their cooperation in order to promote the generation of significant academic achievements. Current research in this field has focused on stem cell transplantation, neural regeneration, motor function recovery, exosomes, and tissue engineering. Meanwhile, future research directions are primarily concerned with the molecular mechanisms, safety, clinical trials, exosomes, scaffolds, hydrogels, and inflammatory responses of stem cell therapy for spinal cord injuries. Conclusion: In summary, this study provided a comprehensive analysis of the current research status and frontiers of stem cell therapy for spinal cord injury. The findings provide a foundation for future research and clinical translation efforts of stem cell therapy in this field.

Abstract
Transdermal delivery devices and wound dressing materials are constantly improved and upgraded with the aim of enhancing their beneficial effects, biocompatibility, biodegradability, and cost effectiveness. Therefore, researchers in the field have shown an increasing interest in using natural compounds as constituents for such systems. Plants, as an important source of so-called "natural products" with an enormous variety and structural diversity that still exceeds the capacity of present-day sciences to define or even discover them, have been part of medicine since ancient times. However, their benefits are just at the beginning of being fully exploited in modern dermal and transdermal delivery systems. Thus, plant-based primary compounds, with or without biological activity, contained in gums and mucilages, traditionally used as gelling and texturing agents in the food industry, are now being explored as valuable and cost-effective natural components in the biomedical field. Their biodegradability, biocompatibility, and non-toxicity compensate for local availability and compositional variations. Also, secondary metabolites, classified based on their chemical structure, are being intensively investigated for their wide pharmacological and toxicological effects. Their impact on medicine is highlighted in detail through the most recent reported studies. Innovative isolation and purification techniques, new drug delivery devices and systems, and advanced evaluation procedures are presented.

Abstract
Bibliometric studies on inherited metabolic diseases (IMDs) do not exist in the literature. Therefore, our research aims to conduct a bibliometric study to determine the current status, trending topics, and missing points of publications on IMDs. Between 1968 and 2023, we conducted a literature search with the keyword "inherited metabolic disease" in the SCOPUS database. We included research articles in medicine written in English and published in the final section. We created our data pool using VOSviewer, SciMAT, and Rstudio software programs for the bibliometric parameters of the articles that met the inclusion criteria. We performed a bibliometric analysis of the data with the R package "bibliometrix" and BibExcel programs. We included 2702 research articles published on IMDs. The top three countries that have written the most articles in this field are the USA (n = 501), the United Kingdom (n = 182), and China (n = 172). The most preferred keywords by the authors were: newborn screening (n = 54), mutation (n = 43), phenylketonuria (n = 42), children (n = 35), genetics (n = 34), and maple syrup urine disease (n = 32). Trending topics were osteoporosis, computed tomography, bone marrow transplantation in the early years of the study, chronic kidney disease, urea cycle disorders, next-generation sequencing, newborn screening, and familial hypercholesterolemia in the final years of the study. This study provides clinicians with a new perspective, showing that molecular and genetic studies of inherited metabolic diseases will play an essential role in diagnosis and treatment in the future.

Abstract
Introduction: Pulmonary fibrosis (PF) is a severe disease that can lead to respiratory failure and even death. However, currently there is no effective treatment available for patients with PF. Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have been recently shown to have therapeutic potential for PF. We analyzed the literature focused of MSCs and PF to provide a comprehensive understanding of the relationship between MSCs and PF. Methods: We searched the Web of Science Core Collection database for literature from 2002 through 2021 that involved MSCs and PF. The included studies were then analyzed using CiteSpace and VOSviewers software. Results: A total of 1,457 studies were included for analysis. Our findings demonstrated the following: 1) an increasing trend of MSC and PF research; 2) among the 54 countries/regions of author affiliations, the United States was the most frequent, and the University of Michigan (n = 64, 2.8%) was the top institution; 3) Rojas Mauricio published the most articles and PLOS ONE had the most related studies; and 4) keywords, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, mesenchymal stem cells, and systemic sclerosis, were listed more than 100 times, indicating the research trend. Other common keywords, such as inflammation, myofibroblasts, fibroblasts, aging, telomerase or telomere, and extracellular matrix demonstrate research interests in the corresponding mechanisms.1) The number of publications focused on MSCs and PF research increased during the study period; 2) Among the 54 countries/regions of author affiliations, most articles were published in the United States of America, and the University of Michigan (n = 64, 2.8%) had the largest number of publications; 3) Rojas Mauricio published the most articles and PLOS ONE had the most related studies; 4) Keywords, such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, MSCs, and systemic sclerosis, were listed more than 100 times, representing a research trend. Other common keywords included inflammation, myofibroblasts, fibroblasts, aging, telomerase or telomere, and extracellular matrix. Discussion: During the past 2 decades, MSCs have been proposed to play an important role in PF treatment. An increasing amount of literature focused on MSCs and PF research has been published. Our findings provide insight into the current status and research trends in the field of MSCs and PF research during the past 2 decades, which could help researchers understand necessary research directions. In the future, more preclinical and clinical studies should be conducted in this field to support the application of MSCs in the treatment of PF.

Abstract
Chronic kidney disease (CKD) affects a huge portion of the world's population and frequently leads to cardiovascular diseases (CVDs). It might be because of common risk factors between chronic kidney disease and cardiovascular diseases. Renal dysfunction caused by chronic kidney disease creates oxidative stress which in turn leads to cardiovascular diseases. Oxidative stress causes endothelial dysfunction and inflammation in heart which results in atherosclerosis. It ends in clogging of veins and arteries that causes cardiac stroke and myocardial infarction. To develop an innovative therapeutic approach and new drugs to treat these diseases, it is important to understand the pathophysiological mechanism behind the CKD and CVDs and their interrelationship. Natural phytoconstituents of plants such as polyphenolic compounds are well known for their medicinal value. Polyphenols are plant secondary metabolites with immense antioxidant properties, which can protect from free radical damage. Nowadays, polyphenols are generating a lot of buzz in the scientific community because of their potential health benefits especially in the case of heart and kidney diseases. This review provides a detailed account of the pathophysiological link between CKD and CVDs and the pharmacological potential of polyphenols and their nanoformulations in promoting cardiovascular and renal health.

Abstract
Objective This study aimed to evaluate the current research hotspots and development tendency of Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS) in the field of neurobiology from a bibliometric perspective by providing visualized information to scientists and clinicians. Materials and methods Publications related to tDCS published between 2000 and 2022 were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection (WOSCC) on May 5, 2022. Bibliometric features including the number of publications and citations, citation frequency, H-index, journal impact factors, and journal citation reports were summarized using Microsoft Office Excel. Co-authorship, citation, co-citation, and co-occurrence analyses among countries, institutions, authors, co-authors, journals, publications, references, and keywords were analyzed and visualized using CiteSpace (version 6.1.R3). Results A total of 4,756 publications on tDCS fulfilled the criteria we designed and then were extracted from the WOSCC. The United States (1,190 publications, 25.02%) and Harvard University (185 publications, 3.89%) were the leading contributors among all the countries and institutions, respectively. NITSCHE MA and FREGNI F, two key researchers, have made great achievements in tDCS. Brain Stimulation (306 publications) had the highest number of publications relevant to tDCS and the highest number of citations (4,042 times). In terms of potential hotspots, we observed through reference co-citation analysis timeline viewer related to tDCS that "depression"#0, "Sensorimotor network"#10, "working memory"#11, and "Transcranial magnetic stimulation"#9 might be the future research hotspots, while keywords with the strong burst and still ongoing were "intensity" (2018-2022), "impairment" (2020-2022), "efficacy" (2020-2022), and "guideline" (2020-2022). Conclusion This was the first-ever study of peer-reviewed publications relative to tDCS using several scientometric and visual analytic methods to quantitatively and qualitatively reveal the current research status and trends in the field of tDCS. Through the bibliometric method, we gained an in-depth understanding of the current research status and development trend on tDCS. Our research and analysis results might provide some practical sources for academic scholars and clinicians.

Abstract
BackgroundMacrophages significantly contributes to symptomology and structural progression of osteoarthritis (OA) and raise increasing attention in the relative research field. Recent studies have shown that tremendous progress has been made in the research of macrophages associated with osteoarthritis. However, a comprehensive bibliometric analysis is lacking in this research field. This study aimed to introduce the research status as well as hotspots and explore the field of macrophages research in OA from a bibliometric perspective.MethodsThis study collected 1481 records of macrophages associated with osteoarthritis from 1991 to 2021 in the web of science core collection (WoSCC) database. CiteSpace, VOSviewer, and R package “bibliometrix” software were used to analyze regions, institutions, journals, authors, and keywords to predict the latest trends in macrophages associated with osteoarthritis research.ResultsThe number of publications related to macrophages associated with osteoarthritis is increasing annually. China and the USA, contributing more than 44% of publications, were the main drivers for research in this field. League of European Research Universities was the most active institution and contributed the most publications. Arthritis and Rheumatism is the most popular journal in this field with the largest publications, while Osteoarthritis and Cartilage is the most co-cited journal. Koch AE was the most prolific writer, while Bondeson J was the most commonly co-cited author. “Rheumatology”, “Orthopedics”, and “Immunology” were the most widely well-represented research areas of OA associated macrophages. “Rheumatoid arthritis research”, “clinical symptoms”, “regeneration research”, “mechanism research”, “pathological features”, and “surgery research” are the primary keywords clusters in this field.ConclusionThis is the first bibliometric study comprehensively mapped out the knowledge structure and development trends in the research field of macrophages associated with osteoarthritis in recent 30 years. The results comprehensively summarize and identify the research frontiers which will provide a reference for scholars studying macrophages associated with osteoarthritis.

Abstract
Background With the development of digital pathology and the renewal of deep learning algorithm, artificial intelligence (AI) is widely applied in tumor pathology. Previous researches have demonstrated that AI-based tumor pathology may help to solve the challenges faced by traditional pathology. This technology has attracted the attention of scholars in many fields and a large amount of articles have been published. This study mainly summarizes the knowledge structure of AI-based tumor pathology through bibliometric analysis, and discusses the potential research trends and foci. Methods Publications related to AI-based tumor pathology from 1999 to 2021 were selected from Web of Science Core Collection. VOSviewer and Citespace were mainly used to perform and visualize co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references and keywords in this field. Results A total of 2753 papers were included. The papers on AI-based tumor pathology research had been continuously increased since 1999. The United States made the largest contribution in this field, in terms of publications (1138, 41.34%), H-index (85) and total citations (35,539 times). We identified the most productive institution and author were Harvard Medical School and Madabhushi Anant, while Jemal Ahmedin was the most co-cited author. Scientific Reports was the most prominent journal and after analysis, Lecture Notes in Computer Science was the journal with highest total link strength. According to the result of references and keywords analysis, “breast cancer histopathology” “convolutional neural network” and “histopathological image” were identified as the major future research foci. Conclusions AI-based tumor pathology is in the stage of vigorous development and has a bright prospect. International transboundary cooperation among countries and institutions should be strengthened in the future. It is foreseeable that more research foci will be lied in the interpretability of deep learning-based model and the development of multi-modal fusion model. Abstract
ObjectiveUsing visual bibliometric analysis, the application and development of artificial intelligence in clinical esophageal cancer are summarized, and the research progress, hotspots, and emerging trends of artificial intelligence are elucidated.MethodsOn April 7th, 2022, articles and reviews regarding the application of AI in esophageal cancer, published between 2000 and 2022 were chosen from the Web of Science Core Collection. To conduct co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in this field, VOSviewer (version 1.6.18), CiteSpace (version 5.8.R3), Microsoft Excel 2019, R 4.2, an online bibliometric platform (http://bibliometric.com/) and an online browser plugin (https://www.altmetric.com/) were used.ResultsA total of 918 papers were included, with 23,490 citations. 5,979 authors, 39,962 co-cited authors, and 42,992 co-cited papers were identified in the study. Most publications were from China (317). In terms of the H-index (45) and citations (9925), the United States topped the list. The journal “New England Journal of Medicine” of Medicine, General & Internal (IF = 91.25) published the most studies on this topic. The University of Amsterdam had the largest number of publications among all institutions. The past 22 years of research can be broadly divided into two periods. The 2000 to 2016 research period focused on the classification, identification and comparison of esophageal cancer. Recently (2017-2022), the application of artificial intelligence lies in endoscopy, diagnosis, and precision therapy, which have become the frontiers of this field. It is expected that closely esophageal cancer clinical measures based on big data analysis and related to precision will become the research hotspot in the future.ConclusionsAn increasing number of scholars are devoted to artificial intelligence-related esophageal cancer research. The research field of artificial intelligence in esophageal cancer has entered a new stage. In the future, there is a need to continue to strengthen cooperation between countries and institutions. Improving the diagnostic accuracy of esophageal imaging, big data-based treatment and prognosis prediction through deep learning technology will be the continuing focus of research. The application of AI in esophageal cancer still has many challenges to overcome before it can be utilized.

Abstract
In recent years, ferroptosis has become a research hotspot in programmed cell death. Since the concept of ferroptosis was proposed, a growing number of articles have been published on this topic. Nevertheless, to our knowledge, these ferroptosis-related publications that have received a great deal of attention have not been quantitatively evaluated. In this study, we analyzed the top 100 most influential articles over the past decade through a bibliometric method to characterize the research status and trends in this field. Web of Science Core Collection was searched to identify relevant studies. After being manually screened, the top 100 most cited studies with original data were identified and analyzed. Bibliometric software including VOSviewer and R-Bibliometrix were used to perform visualization analysis. The citation frequency for the top 100 selected articles ranged from 135 to 3603 (326.6 citations on average). These articles originated from 25 countries/regions, with more than half originating from the United States and China. The most frequently nominated author was Stockwell BR from the Columbia University, and of the top 100 articles, 19 listed his name. Three core journals were Nature, Cell and Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences of the United States of America. In addition to term of ferroptosis, these terms or phrases including cell death, cancer cell, GPX4, pathway, inhibitor, mechanism, iron, lipid peroxidation, resistance, erastin, sorafenib, P53, reactive oxygen species, necroptosis, apoptosis, glutathione peroxidase, ACSL4, autophagy, and SLC7A11 appeared more frequently in the top 100 articles. Overall, although much progress has been made, the research on ferroptosis is still at an early stage. The current attention in this field mainly focuses on potential regulatory mechanism and pathways including key ferroptosis-related genes/molecules, oxidant and antioxidant system, ferroptosis-inducing agents or nanomedicine for cancer therapy, as well as the role of ferroptosis in non-neoplastic disorders. Meanwhile, combination therapeutic strategies targeting ferroptosis in radiotherapy or immunotherapy also deserve further attention.

Abstract
Background Autoimmune diseases (AIDs) are a class of chronic disabling diseases characterized by inflammation and damage to muscles, joints, bones, and internal organs. Recent studies have shown that much progress has been made in the research of exosomes in AIDs. However, there is no bibliometric analysis in this research field. This study aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and research hotspots of exosomes in AIDs through bibliometrics. Method Publications related to exosomes in AIDs from 2002 to 2021 were searched on the web of science core collection (WoSCC) database. VOSviewers, CiteSpace and R package “bibliometrix” were used to conduct this bibliometric analysis. Results 312 articles from 48 countries led by China and the United States were included. The number of publications related to exosomes in AIDs is increasing year by year. Central South University, Sun Yat Sen University, Tianjin Medical University and University of Pennsylvania are the main research institutions. Frontiers in immunology is the most popular journal in this field, and Journal of Immunology is the most co-cited journal. These publications come from 473 authors among which Ilias Alevizos, Qianjin Lu, Wei Wei, Jim Xiang and Ming Zhao had published the most papers and Clotilde Théry was co-cited most often. Studying the mechanism of endogenous exosomes in the occurrence and development of AIDs and the therapeutic strategy of exogenous exosomes in AIDs are the main topics in this research field. “Mesenchymal stem cells”, “microRNA”, “biomarkers”, “immunomodulation”, and “therapy” are the primary keywords of emerging research hotspots. Conclusion This is the first bibliometric study that comprehensively summarizes the research trends and developments of exosomes in AIDs. This information identifies recent research frontiers and hot directions, which will provide a reference for scholars studying exosomes.

Abstract
Background Mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) have important research value and broad application prospects in liver diseases. This study aims to comprehensively review the cooperation and influence of countries, institutions, authors, and journals in the field of MSCs in liver diseases from the perspective of bibliometrics, evaluate the clustering evolution of knowledge structure, and discover hot trends and emerging topics. Methods The articles and reviews related to MSCs in liver diseases were retrieved from the Web of Science Core Collection using Topic Search. A bibliometric study was performed using CiteSpace and VOSviewer. Results A total of 3404 articles and reviews were included over the period 2001-2021. The number of articles regarding MSCs in liver diseases showed an increasing trend. These publications mainly come from 3251 institutions in 113 countries led by China and the USA. Li L published the most papers among the publications, while Pittenger MF had the most co-citations. Analysis of the most productive journals shows that most are specialized in medical research, experimental medicine and cell biology, and cell & tissue engineering. The macroscopical sketch and micro-representation of the whole knowledge field are realized through co-citation analysis. Liver scaffold, MSC therapy, extracellular vesicle, and others are current and developing areas of the study. The keywords "machine perfusion", "liver transplantation", and "microRNAs" also may be the focus of new trends and future research. Conclusions In this study, bibliometrics and visual methods were used to review the research of MSCs in liver diseases comprehensively. This paper will help scholars better understand the dynamic evolution of the application of MSCs in liver diseases and point out the direction for future research.

Extractives of Tree Biomass of Scots Pine (Pinus sylvestris L.) for Biorefining in Four Climatic Regions in Finland—Lipophilic Compounds, Stilbenes, and Lignans. FORESTS 2022. Abstract
The aim of the study was to quantify total extractive contents and lipophilic compounds, stilbenes, and lignans in Scots pine stem wood, stem bark, branch biomass, and sawmill residues in four climatic regions of Finland to evaluate the most optimal sources of extractives for bio-based chemical biorefining and bioenergy products. Data were derived from 78 chip samples from the before-mentioned raw materials, the samples being pooled by tree height position from the sample trees of 42 experimental forest stands, and sawdust lots from 10 log stands. Accelerated solvent extraction (ASE) was employed to determine total extractive contents, followed by gas chromatography with flame ionization detection (GC–FID) to quantify extractive groups and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC–MS) to analyse individual extractive compounds. Resin acids and triglycerides followed by fatty acids were the dominant extractive groups. Resin acids were most abundant in stem wood from final fellings and in sawdust, fatty acids in bark and branch biomass, and triglycerides also in stem wood from thinnings and the top parts of trees. Of the minor extractive groups, stilbenes were the most abundant in stem wood from final fellings and in sawdust, and steryl esters, sterols, and lignans in bark and branch biomass, the two last groups almost missing from other biomass components. Regional differences in the contents of extractive groups were generally small, 1.0−1.5 percentage points at the maximum, but factor analysis distinguished northern and southern regions into their own groups. Bark was the most potential source of fatty acids and sterols in southern Finland, and triglycerides and steryl esters in northern Finland. In stem wood, steryl esters, triglycerides, and lignans decreased and stilbenes increased from north to south. Certain fatty acids and resin acids were more frequent in the north. The results highlighted the importance of focused procurement and efficient sorting of raw materials, purity, unique properties, and feasible isolation techniques for competitive ability as well as large raw material volumes or well-defined value-added products.

Abstract
Background With the rapid development of technology, artificial intelligence (AI) has been widely used in the diagnosis and prognosis prediction of a variety of diseases, including prostate cancer. Facts have proved that AI has broad prospects in the accurate diagnosis and treatment of prostate cancer. Objective This study mainly summarizes the research on the application of artificial intelligence in the field of prostate cancer through bibliometric analysis and explores possible future research hotspots. Methods The articles and reviews regarding application of AI in prostate cancer between 1999 and 2020 were selected from Web of Science Core Collection on August 23, 2021. Microsoft Excel 2019 and GraphPad Prism 8 were applied to analyze the targeted variables. VOSviewer (version 1.6.16), Citespace (version 5.8.R2), and a widely used online bibliometric platform were used to conduct co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis of countries, institutions, authors, references, and keywords in this field. Results A total of 2,749 articles were selected in this study. AI-related research on prostate cancer increased exponentially in recent years, of which the USA was the most productive country with 1,342 publications, and had close cooperation with many countries. The most productive institution and researcher were the Henry Ford Health System and Tewari. However, the cooperation among most institutions or researchers was not close even if the high research outputs. The result of keyword analysis could divide all studies into three clusters: “Diagnosis and Prediction AI-related study”, “Non-surgery AI-related study”, and “Surgery AI-related study”. Meanwhile, the current research hotspots were “deep learning” and “multiparametric MRI”. Conclusions Artificial intelligence has broad application prospects in prostate cancer, and a growing number of scholars are devoted to AI-related research on prostate cancer. Meanwhile, the cooperation among various countries and institutions needs to be strengthened in the future. It can be projected that noninvasive diagnosis and accurate minimally invasive treatment through deep learning technology will still be the research focus in the next few years.

Abstract
Diphyllin glycosides (DG) are the type of arylnaphthalene lignans isolated from different plants and their synthetic derivatives have shown effective antiviral, cytotoxic, hypotensive and diuretic effects at very low concentrations similar to standard drugs that are under clinical use. The biological activities of the DG interfere with signaling pathways of viral infection and cancer induction. The sugar moieties of DG enhance bioavailability and pharmacological activities. The promising results of DG at nanomolar concentrations under in vitro and in vivo conditions should be explored further with clinical trials to determine its toxic effects, pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. This may identify suitable antiviral and anticancer drugs in the near future. Considering all these activities, the present review is focused on the chemical aspects of DG with a detailed account on the mechanisms of action of DG. An attempt is also made to comment on the status of clinical trials of DG along with the possible limitations in studies based on available literature through September 2020.

Abstract
Studies showed that vitamin D (25-hydroxyvitamin D) level in the human blood circulation could be affected by exogenous estrogen exposure. This study aims to explore the relationships between urinary phytoestrogens metabolites and serum total 25(OH)D in general population, urinary phytoestrogens metabolites (daidzein, enterodiol, enterolactone, equol, genistein and o-desmethylangolensin). Totally 2,609 adults ≥6 y old from the 2009-2010 National Health and Nutrition Examination Surveys (NHANES) were recruited into the cross-sectional analyses and information including demographic, socioeconomic, examinations and laboratory test were collected. All analyses were performed using Stata13.0, one-way analysis of variance and multivariable regression were utilised according to data characteristics, respectively. It showed that age, race, education level, body mass index (BMI), and sampling season had significant effects on serum 25(OH)D level (all p<0.001). In the whole population, urinary enterodiol and equol were significantly positively associated with serum total 25(OH)D level (β=0.86, 95%CI=0.08-1.65, p<0.05; β=1.68, 95%CI=0.91-2.45, p<0.001). Equol was also found significantly positively correlated with total 25(OH)D in both female and male separately (β=1.69, 95%CI=0.51-2.87, p<0.05; β=1.66, 95%CI=0.63-2.69, p<0.05). Phytoestrogen concentrations in the urinary and 25(OH)D levels in the serum had proved a positive correlation in our study, which provide theoretical basis and reference for the dietary nutrient intake in the population.

Abstract
Background: Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic disabling disease characterized by chronic inflammation, articular cartilage destruction, and reduced bone mass. Multiple studies have revealed that the development of osteoporosis in rheumatoid arthritis (RA; ORA) patients could be led to a reduced quality of life and increased healthcare costs. Nevertheless, no attempt has been made to analyze the field of ORA research with the bibliometric method. This study aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of the knowledge structure and theme trends in the field of ORA research from a bibliometric perspective. Methods: Articles and reviews regarding ORA from 1998 to 2021 were identified from the Web of Science database. An online bibliometric platform, CiteSpace, and VOSviewer software were used to generate visualization knowledge maps including co-authorship, co-citation, and co-occurrence analysis. SPSS, R, and Microsoft Excel software were used to conduct curve fitting and correlation analysis, and to analyze quantitative indicators, such as publication and citation counts, h-index, and journal citation reports. Results: A total of 1,081 papers with 28,473 citations were identified. Publications were mainly concentrated in North America, Western Europe, and Eastern Asia. Economic strength is an important factor affecting scientific output. The United States contributed the most publications (213) with the highest h-index value (46) as of September 14, 2021. Diakonhjemmet Hospital and professor Haugeberg G were the most prolific institution and influential authors, respectively. Journal of Rheumatology was the most productive journal concerning ORA research. According to the burst references, “anti-citrullinated protein antibodies” and “preventing joint destruction” have been recognized as the hot research issues in the domain. The keywords co-occurrence analysis identified “teriparatide,” “interleukin-6,” “Wnt,” and “vertebral fractures” as the important future research directions. Conclusion: This was the first bibliometric study comprehensively summarizing the trends and development of ORA research. Our findings could offer practical sources for scholars to understand the key information in this field, and identify the potential research frontiers and hot directions in the near future.

Abstract
The overarching theme for this review is perspective. Superfoods (a marketing term for fruits and vegetables, etc.) have a positive connotation, while many superfoods contain phytoestrogens, a term that is alarming to the public and has a negative connotation because phytoestrogens are endocrine-disruptors, even though they are strong antioxidants that have many health benefits. To understand phytoestrogens, this paper provides a brief summary of the characteristics of: (a) estrogens, (b) estrogen receptors (ER), (c) estrogen-deficient skin, (d) how perspective(s) get off track, (e) phytoestrogen food sources, and (f) misconceptions of phytoestrogens and food safety, in general, that influence person(s) away from what is true. Finally, a brief history of cosmetics to nutraceuticals is covered plus the characteristics of phytoestrogens, resveratrol and equol on: (g) estrogen receptor binding, (h) topical and oral dosing, and (i) in vitro, molecular mechanisms and select clinical evidence, where both phytoestrogens (resveratrol and equol) demonstrate promising applications to improve skin health is presented along with future directions of nutraceuticals. Perspective is paramount in understanding the controversies associated with superfoods, phytoestrogens, and endocrine-disruptors because they have both positive and negative connotations. Everyone is exposed to and consumes these molecules everyday regardless of age, gender, or geographic location around the world, and how we understand this is a matter of perspective.

Abstract
Alkenyl phenols are utilized by nature in the construction of one of the most important biopolymers, lignin. Using similar building blocks, an array of distinct structures can be formed by selective dimerization of the starting phenols to form lignans, neolignans, oxyneolignans, and norlignans. Given the multitude of possible outcomes, many methods have been reported to affect the desired bond formations and access these biologically relevant scaffolds. The most biomimetic of these methods, discussed here, involve the unprotected phenols undergoing oxidative bond formation that proceeds via dehydrogenative coupling. This review aims to place the known literature in context, highlight the progress made toward the synthesis of these important molecules, and recognize the gaps and limitations that still exist.

Abstract
The Olea europaea L. is a very well-known and widely used plant, especially for its nutritional qualities. Its extracts from leaves and fruits are widely used in contrasting and preventing various pathologies. In this review, the collected data highlight important chemical analyses and biological effects of this plant extracts. It exhibits cholesterol-lowering, hypoglycemic, cytotoxic, antibacterial, neuroprotective, antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and hypotensive activities. The results show that extracts from O. europaea could be used as a food additive in the supplementary treatment of many diseases.
