Renewable energy electricity, environmental taxes, and sustainable development: empirical evidence from E7 economies

Since globalization has increased both production and population, it has also increased environmental damage. This is why the development of renewable energy sources is crucial to the survival of humanity and the planet itself. Business patterns across the various nations, however, have changed significantly over time. This study examines how environmental taxes and renewable energy electricity affect renewable energy consumption in emerging seven economies by using panel dataset over the period of 1990 to 2020. Control variables include economic growth, carbon emissions, and environmental innovation. The results confirmed the presence of the long-run co-integration association, the existence of slope coefficient heterogeneity, and the dependency of cross sections using several panel data methods. Since the data was not normally distributed, a new technique known as method of moments quantile regression (MMQR) was applied in this study. The projected results contend that the major factors of renewable energy consumption are renewable energy output, environmental taxation, economic growth, and carbon emissions. However, eco-friendly innovations drastically cut back on the need for renewable energy. Bootstrap quantile regression verifies the results' reliability, and the panel Granger causality test corroborates that the listed factors have a bidirectional causal relationship with renewable energy usage. Furthermore, this research recommends boosting spending on renewable electricity, the environmental tax sector, and ecological innovation in order to expand the use of renewable energy.

Assessment of consumer demographics and food safety risks associated with ready-to-eat (RTE) homemade foods purchased online in the UAE

In the UAE, female entrepreneurs, termed "Tajrat", sell a variety of homemade food products over online social media (OSM) platforms. Some of these food products are prepared and sold outside regulatory channels, with serious public health consequences. The study aimed to identify consumer demographics associated with purchasing of RTE, homemade food sold over in OSM platforms in the UAE and to assess the food quality by evaluating microbiological quality and fat percentage in RTE foods. A representative survey of the population of the UAE (n = 1303) was conducted, covering consumer demographics, frequency of purchase, and respondents' perception towards safety and nutritional value. 66 % of respondents were Emiratis, fifty percent of whom purchased RTE foods online. Moreover, 61 % of participants purchased from "Tajrat" via OSM as opposed to other sources. Convenience (47 %) and taste (41 %) were the main drivers for purchasing RTE homemade foods. Although 76 % of respondents have at least one member of their family considered vulnerable, the safety levels, quality, and nutritional value of such products did not carry the same significance. Microbiological analysis of 35 food samples purchased online from "Tajrat" was conducted. Listeria spp. was isolated from 22 % of the samples, 43 % showed positive Staphylococcus aureus, and 31 % of the samples had coliform bacteria. Total Fat Content of RTE homemade food samples ranged between 2.6 and 30 g/100 g which is considered high and can cause serious health issues if consumed frequently. Recommendations from this study will help policy makers and regulators in the UAE to develop and implement education strategies targeting homemade food handlers.

Natural resources and financial development: Role of corporate social responsibility on green economic growth in China

While natural resource and financial growth have been researched extensively, the impact of corporate social responsibility on green economic growth through the incorporation of corporate regulations has received less attention. Empirical conclusions are supported by a balanced panel of data collected annually on resource-rich countries in China between 1992 and 2018. Multiple econometric issues, such as the existence of heterogeneity among the selected countries, can be tackled with the help of the PMG-ARDL method. There is evidence of cointegration between the variables according to the Johansen Fisher Panel Cointegration Test and the Kao Test. The findings of the PMG-ARDL suggest a favorable long-term relationship between resource income and public debt, but a negative short-term relationship. Public debt sustainability in the panel nations is threatened by their over-reliance on total natural resource rents if efficient fiscal and financial administration reforms are neglected. The Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) used in this panel establishes a causal relationship between available resources and the level of state debt. There is empirical data to back up the fiscal curse theory. If regulations are not in place to protect natural resources, they could impede economic development. The financial resource curse may be eased if China adopted more business-friendly regulations. Assuming this condition is met, policy recommendations for sustaining natural resource rent-related gains in economic development may be developed.

Modelling the asymmetric effects of renewable and nonrenewable energy consumption and financial development on CO2 emissions in India: Empirical findings from the NARDL and Wavelet Coherence Approach

A major challenge for humans in the twenty-first century is devising a way to minimize environmental pollution while fostering economic growth that will not deplete the planet's resources. Despite increased awareness of climate change and efforts to combat it, the amount of pollution emissions on the Earth continues to drop significantly. This study employs cutting-edge econometric methods to examine the long- and short-term asymmetric and causal impacts of renewable and non-renewable energy consumption and financial development on CO₂ emissions in India at both aggregate and disaggregated levels. Thus, this work fills a significant gap in research. A time series from 1965 to 2020 was used for this study. Wavelet coherence was employed to investigate causal effects among the variables, while the NARDL model addressed long-run and short-run asymmetry effects. Our findings indicate that (i) REC, NREC, FD, and CO₂ emissions are all interconnected in the long run, (ii) NREC and FD significantly trigger CO₂ emissions in India in the long run, and (iii) the results of a wavelet coherence-based causality test support the long-term estimates of this study.

Assessing financial performance through green bond markets and energy reliance in Asian economies

This article's overarching goal is to learn more about the effects of financial performance on the reliance upon or migration to energy efficiency sources in Asian countries using data envelopment analysis (DEA) and system GMM from 2017 to 2022. The results demonstrated the importance of relying on renewable energy sources when expanding the electricity sector effectively in an Asian environment. This same influence of green bond financing on energy investment during an eco-friendly improving economy is in addition to the proportion of renewable energy demands, power usage to gross domestic product, power manufacturing stretchability, electricity usage stretchability, or the overall impact of renewable energy transformation. The analysis revealed that the organizational climate has implicit implications that advance wage activity and that Asian financial systems drove a 30% point transition in the period studied from traditional power generation manufacturing and use methods toward sustainable energy. With this, we see a dramatic increase in the use of green power. This is largely attributable to the widespread use of green financing in constructing hydroelectric facilities throughout Asia. The theoretical underpinnings and empirical setting of the research are both original. Moreover, the association between green bond issuance and green, sustainable growth in industry and agriculture supports the response theory. Major governmental aspects include modernizing and expanding the finance system, updating national efficiency metrics, and creating a technological long-term infrastructure market. While previous studies have looked into the connections between green finance and economic growth, technological advancements in the energy sector, environmental responsibility, and renewable energy sources, this study is the first to focus on how green finance facilitates the shift to renewable energy in Asia's economies. The study's findings suggest how to manage renewable energy in Asia in a way that could work.

An integration of oil price volatility, green energy consumption, and economic performance: assessing the mediating role of trade

The economic development of globalized economies is facing severe challenges in the context of a new era. Therefore, the purpose of the study is to assess how crucial factors like oil price fluctuations, renewable energy use, economic growth, the exchange rate, exports, imports, and trade affect the economic performance in the top 25 oil-importing countries using panel data from 2005 to 2021 collected annually. The present investigation employs a method for calculating the stability of associations between variables called AMG estimation. The robustness and reliability of CCEMG and DCCEMG estimates are tested in the present study. Consumption, exports, and trade in renewable energy all had a favorable effect on economic growth. The fluctuation of oil prices, the state of the economy, the currency exchange rate, and imports make things worse. In addition, the findings of the study indicate that the moderate effect of trade with fluctuating oil prices, rising finance, and economic expansion is aided by the current exchange rate. In addition to helping create an appropriate path forward for economic growth, the computed coefficients have policy implications for both the chosen developing economy and the other markets.

Converging concepts of sustainability and supply chain networks: a systematic literature review approach

In recent years, companies have been under increasing pressure from consumers, grassroots and community organizations, governments, and shareholders to develop and practice sustainable business practices. Academic and corporate interest in sustainable supply chain management has risen considerably in recent years. This can be seen in the number of papers published. This paper aims to systematically investigate the discipline of supply chain management (SCM) within the context of sustainability. The two concepts are increasingly aligned, and sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) represents an evolving field where they explicitly interact. The study proposes a conceptual framework to classify various factors along the triple bottom-line pillars of sustainability issues in the context of supply chains. The findings indicate that the existing literature is primarily focused on individual sustainability and supply chain dimensions rather than taking a more integrated approach. Also, the economic benefits of developing a sustainable supply chain for an organization are discussed in addition to specific features of sustainable supply chains and limitations of existing research; this should stimulate further research. Our analysis revealed trends and gaps, allowing us to create a solid agenda for additional SSCM research.

Financial impact of cost of capital on tourism-based SMEs in COVID-19: implications for tourism disruption mitigation

Opportunities for funding Tourism SMEs are emerging globally due to the expansion of tourism sector. However, it is still being determined how these financial arrangements will be controlled at more significant sizes equitably. In the contemporary period, E7 economy is deficient in producing the financial resources to ensure the availability of funds for the acquisition of funds for tourism-based SMEs. However, this research tested the empirical position of cost of debt in E-7 economies during COVID-19 crises. Study findings have shown significant outcomes between the constructs. The variation of conditions, structural uncertainty, transection systems, and variation in support by the financial institution for tourism-based SMEs are the main reasons that lessen borrowing and lending system of funds, from banks to SMEs. However, theorists must revisit the transaction system of debt financing for SMEs. Policymakers are suggested to develop viable and SME system-friendly policies to finance through debt capital from the banks in the time of structural imposed crises, like COVID-19.

Does green finance and ICT matter for sustainable development: role of government expenditure and renewable energy investment

Green financing and renewable energy growth are commonly influenced by public expenditure on health and R&D; however, data supporting this claim is scarce, especially in the 65 countries that are part of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI). The study applied Augmented Mean Group (AMG) analysis on panel data from 2005 to 2018 for BRI nations to look at the interplay between R&D and health budgets, GDP growth, FDI, carbon emissions, green finance, and renewable energy deployment. This study uses the two models for green finance and renewable energy development. In the light of the first model, economic growth, public expenditures on health and R&D, and foreign direct investment cause to increase the level of green finance in BRI economies, while the emissions cause to reduce the level of green finance. Similarly, renewable energy development uses another explained variable by this study and found the positive contribution of growth, public expenditures, and FDI inflows to renewable energy development. In contrast, environmental pollution decreases the level of renewable energy development. In order to obtain the desired level of green finance and renewable energy development, policies are suggested by the study.

Evaluating low-carbon economic peer effects of green finance and ICT for sustainable development: a Chinese perspective

With the adoption of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the Paris Climate Agreement, ADB's involvement should not be ignored. The Global Environment Facility (GEF) and ADB have teamed up to provide climate change financing for developing countries. Included in this is climate protection finance, the financing method that offers cash to assist the region in achieving ecological responsibility. Using a systematic framework, the researchers in this study examined the rationale for building a cohort result of green management in China in the new phase of the country's development. As part of a multiplicative framework, the long-term correlation between variables is quantified using the dynamic common correlated effect (D-CCE) and interactive fixed effect. According to the findings, renewable energy and green financing are good environmental indicators. Environmental degradation is negatively affected by green governance. Some people are concerned about how to dispose of ICT, yet on the other side, ICT can help cut carbon emissions with new clean technologies. Moreover, the findings show that urbanization and per capita income increase carbon emissions. The results suggest that Chinese officials need to support reducing carbon emissions through the development of ICT infrastructure, green financing, and renewable energy.

Assessing the impact of entrepreneurial education activity on entrepreneurial intention and behavior: role of behavioral entrepreneurial mindset

This study explores the relationship between Entrepreneurship Education (EE) and Entrepreneurial Intentions (EI) using the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB). From January through May of 2022, students from 10 Chinese institutions were surveyed using an online questionnaire. According to the research, students' EI scores rose significantly after participating in EE. In addition, students in China had a more significant impact on EI regarding factors like perceived feasibility and desirability. This study extends the body of knowledge about the connection between prior exposure and early intervention (EI) by demonstrating the beneficial effects of PE on EI. In addition, the results suggest that girls have lower EI than males, which is good news for gender equality. Lastly, the behavioral entrepreneur attitude has a favorable correlation with EI. Policymakers and university administrators might use the findings to understand better how and when extracurricular activities (EE) improve students' emotional intelligence (EI). A pioneering empirical study in a developing South-Asian setting shows the relevance of EE on EI among students at private universities. According to the study, EE generates EI, and entrepreneurial enthusiasm is crucial.

Low-carbon transformation planning of China's power energy system under the goal of carbon neutrality

China has become the largest energy producer and consumer in the world. Its carbon emissions account for 80% of its total carbon emissions, while the carbon emissions caused by energy consumption in the power industry account for more than 50%. To ensure that the 2030 carbon-peak and 2060 carbon-neutral targets are achieved, it is imperative to carry out low-carbon energy transformation in the power industry. The paper compares and analyzes the technical level of six high-energy-consuming industries: power, steel, cement, aluminum smelting, petrochemical industry, and coal chemical industry in terms of low carbon. The results show that the structural adjustment of China's high-energy-consuming industries has reached the upper limit, and the low-carbon transformation of power and energy has become inevitable. The carbon emissions of China's six regional power grids are statistically analyzed. The background of the power generation proportion of China's thermal power, hydropower, nuclear power, wind power, solar power and other different energy systems from 2018 to 2020 is analyzed, and the development trend is predicted. The low-carbon emission path of power energy is proposed. Based on the EnergyPLAN model, the power energy structure of carbon peaking in different scenarios from 2020 to 2030 is constructed, and the power energy system's carbon dioxide emission reduction paths under different scenarios are obtained. The sustainability impact of different power generation combination scenarios is comprehensively evaluated using the multi-index evaluation method, and the optimal path of the power system to energy scenario is selected. The research conclusion provides a basis for the power sector's renewable energy power generation path selection.

How green finance reduces CO2 emissions for green economic recovery: empirical evidence from E7 economies

The present study examines the effects of green finance on green economic performance index in the presence of income per capita, corporate social responsibilities, green energy, and technical innovations in emerging seven (E7) countries from 2005 to 2018. This study employed second-generation panel cointegration methodologies. The result of the cross-sectional dependency and slope heterogeneity test confirms that the panels are correlated and there exists slope heterogeneity. The results for the short- and long-run confirm the relationship between green economic performance index, green finance, GDPC, technological innovation, CSR, and green energy. In both the short- and long-run, green finance, technological innovation, and CSR decrease the carbon emissions and increase green economic growth, whereas income per capita and GDPC significantly increase the carbon emissions. The robustness check findings obtained D-H panel causality test validate the results. Reducing energy usage by adopting efficient technologies should be encouraged through green financing reforms implemented by policymakers.

Firm characteristics, governance mechanisms, and ESG disclosure: how caring about sustainable concerns?

Environmental, social, and governance (ESG) pillars help determine the business organizations' sustainable business practices. Considering the same, this research examines the association between firm characteristics, governance mechanisms, and ESG for a sample of 564 firms from fifteen developed economies. For empirical analysis, ordinary least square, fixed effect, and random effect estimations techniques were applied using annual data from 2010 to 2019. The overall findings reveal that the governance structure of firms (board size, board independence, and cross-listing) play a significant role in ESG disclosure. Moreover, low corruption perception reflects higher ESG disclosure among the targeted firms. Additionally, firm characteristics; such as liquidity position shows a better reporting of ESG during the study period. When accounting for the ESG disclosure individually, the findings confirm the productive role of board size, current ratio, and low corruption towards environmental exposure. Lastly, the results demonstrate that board size and ESG disclosure promote better financial performance. These results offer valuable policy recommendations.

The findings of the study reveals that the path coefficients for the variables health consciousness, naturalism, financial impact and self-development, sustainability, compassion, gregariousness, sympathy, and cooperation demonstrate that the factors have a positive and significant effect on COVID-19 prevention. Moreover, the content analysis was conducted on recently published reports, blog content, newspapers, and social media. The pieces of evidence from history have been cited to justify the perspective. Furthermore, to appraise the opinions of professionals of different walks of life, an online survey was conducted, and results were discussed with expert medical professionals. Outcomes establish that the pandemics give birth to creativity, instigate innovations, prompt inventions, establish human ties, and foster altruistic elements of compassion and emotionalism.

Determining the critical factors of eWOM about corporate social responsibility on social networking sites: End users’ perspective

It is now possible to propagate CSR information through social media platforms. Electronic word of mouth (eWOM) directly impacts image and upcoming portfolios of the organization. Customers, employees, and other stakeholders generate revenue for the company. Our goal was to understand why people were sharing and commenting in response to terrible reports about corporate social responsibility (CSR) on WeChat. A company’s desire to comment on and share CSR news and its perception of its own social and environmental responsibility were all presumed explanatory variables in our investigation. 315 WeChat users were asked to grade a fictitious news report of the environment. The results were shocking. According to our findings, an individual’s attitude toward actions and the effectiveness of information directly correlates to their social and environmental awareness level. EWOM may be discouraged by a company’s brand name, which has the potential to harm its reputation with its customers.

Assessing the nexus between fiscal policy, COVID-19, and economic growth

The COVID-19 issue deteriorated South Africa's already dire economic situation, exacerbated by years of considerable debt increase. The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted trade to such an extent that some enterprises are barely working at a quarter of their potential. Furthermore, economic agents delay economic decisions while waiting to see how the crisis develops. According to some economists, increased government expenditure will raise GDP enough to keep the country's debt-to-GDP ratio steady and restore fiscal sustainability. We use a panel data model to estimate a fiscal reaction function, which we then apply to historical data to assess the government's prior efforts to maintain or restore budgetary sustainability. We calculate the impact fiscal balance, government expenditure, interest rate, and revenue changes that the government will have to make to restore the country's fiscal stability due to the financial impact of the COVID-19 issue.The findings show that fiscal balance and tax revinue have a significant impact on the economics growth, while government expenditure and corruption reduce the growth of the country.

Modeling the influencing factors of electronic word-of-mouth about CSR on social networking sites

Corporate social responsibility (CSR) information can now be disseminated via social networking sites. An organization's image and upcoming portfolios are directly affected by electronic word of mouth (eWOM). It generates from its customers, employees, and other stakeholders. We developed a critical model to enlighten the behavior to share and comment on a negative news story about CSR displayed on Wechat and QQ to figure out what was causing this behavior. Structural equation modeling (SEM) and the partial least squares regression (PLS) approach were used to conduct a self-administered survey of hotel customers in China. Social and environmental awareness, information usefulness, corporate image, and a company's motivation to comment and share on CSR news were all considered explanatory variables in our study. We asked 300 Wechat and QQ users to rate a fake environmental news story. We found that social and environmental awareness affects the effectiveness of information and the attitude toward behavior, which may describe the eWOM intent of the particular news. On the other hand, corporate reputation could discourage people from disseminating eWOM and sharing the news with their social linkage contacts. The findings of the study suggest having a better understanding of how specific CSR activities can increase customers' commitment, which leads to positive eWOM, will benefit the hotel industry.

Macroeconomic lockdown effects of COVID-19 on small business in China: empirical insights from SEM technique

The coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak in the China has exposed small- and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) to a variety of challenges, some of which are potentially life-threatening to their sustainability. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the macroeconomic lockdown effects of COVID-19 on small business in China. A survey questionnaire with 313 participants was used to collect the data. In this study, the SEM technique was used to analyse model. The data have been gathered for the study from the managers and employees of Chinese SMEs. The findings of the study show that COVID-19 has a significant negative impact on financial performance, operational performance, profitability, access to finance, and customer satisfaction. According to the study's findings, external support aids have a greater impact on SMEs' ability to survive and thrive through innovation than on their actual performance. The findings of this study have a number of important practical consequences for small- and medium-sized business owners, governments, and policymakers.

Modeling Intention-Based Critical Determinants of E-Commerce Utilization: Emerging Business Models and Transformation in the Digital World

Companies in the world today understand that keeping users in touch is essential to enhancing their trust. The primary objective of this study was to determine the intention-based critical determinants of E-commerce utilization in China from the end users' perspective. We developed a framework that identifies the factors that influence E-commerce utilization in China. Besides, we introduced observational research (data analysis) conducted in a real-world E-commerce sense. Results are based on a sample of 400 respondents by employing a comprehensive questionnaire survey. The structural equation modeling (SEM) and the partial least squares (PLS) regression approach was used to analyze the data. Study results show that perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, reputation, trust in vendors, and purchase frequency significantly influence consumers' intention to use E-commerce systems. Research outcomes emphasize transforming social norms, raising consumers' awareness, redesigning policy frameworks, and highlighting the paybacks that E-commerce offers through integrative and consistent efforts.

Assessing the Role of Green Finance and Education as New Determinants to Mitigate Energy Poverty

Energy poverty (EP) is a problem that affects developed and developing economies, and its mitigation is of great significance to social welfare. EP affects Latin American countries, and policymakers have recently attempted to address this issue, particularly in the aftermath of the recent economic crisis. It is essential to measure and evaluate EP to implement strategies and policies effectively. Using a panel quantile regression approach, we investigate the heterogeneous impact of green finance, renewable energy (RE), and energy efficiency (EE) on EP for 33 Latin American countries from 2000 to 2018. Furthermore, certain associated control variables are incorporated into our model to avoid an omitted variable bias. According to empirical results, the impact of independent variables on EP is heterogeneous. Specifically, green finance is an essential source of alleviating EP, and it has a significant positive effect across all quantiles, but it is especially strong in the middle quantiles. RE and EE significantly mitigate EP, with the strongest effects occurring at higher quantiles. By including green finance, RE, and EE as the main explanatory determinants of EP, the findings urge policymakers in Latin American countries to design a comprehensive energy conservation policy to minimize the effects of massive EP.

Does Green Financing Develop a Cleaner Environment for Environmental Sustainability: Empirical Insights From Association of Southeast Asian Nations Economies

One of the most frequently used terms in climate change discussions is environmental sustainability. With economic growth and foreign direct investment as moderator factors, this study investigates the influence of green finance and financial development on environmental sustainability and growth in ASEAN economies from 2012 to 2019. ADF and Phillip-Peron (PP) unit root tests, fully modified least square (FMOLS), were employed for long-run empirical estimates. A substantial body of evidence supports the study’s findings using VECM technology. Green financing was negatively associated with CO2 emissions. However, environmental sustainability in ASEAN is favorably associated with green financing. It is also worth noting that green financing promotes environmental sustainability at the expenditure of economic growth. Financial development, foreign direct investment, R&D investment, and green technology foster economic expansion at the price of environmental sustainability. There are still many fences to green finance that need to be addressed, including pricing CO2 emissions and reforming inefficient nonrenewable fossil fuel subsidies. Local governments play a vital role in eliminating these barriers and addressing disincentives. It is recommended that policymakers push the financial sector to adopt a green finance strategy to further the goals of long-term sustainable development. Industry must integrate multiple objectives, such as inclusive growth and environmental protection and productivity, through an even broader range of legislative frameworks ideal for decoupling growth from social and ecological unsustainability, at the heart of the green manufacturing process.

Research Methods in a Multinational Business Environment and Implications for Capital Formation: Application of Cross-Sectional Autoregressive Distributed Lag Methods

We explore whether foreign direct investment outflows augment or obstruct public or private capital in developing countries by decomposing domestic capital into private and public capital. While developed countries are the primary source of foreign direct investment outflows (FDIOs), developing economies have become the primary source of FDIO over the past 30 years. We apply cross-sectional autoregressive distributed lag (CS-ARDL) methods to overcome the issue of endogeneity and cross-sectional dependency in our dataset. This study analyzes the interaction effects of foreign direct investment and institutional quality (IQ) in promoting aggregate domestic capital formation in developing countries. Our empirical results show that FDI outflows augment private capital formation and additionally, IQ also upsurges private capital formation. Conversely, as per results, FDI outflows obstruct public capital formation, and IQ crowds out public capital formation significantly while private capital crowds out FDI inflows. As per result estimations, we notice that FDIO crowds in private capital formation, thus we conclude that the private sector controls the majority of the sectors for developing countries and the role of the public sector is quite minimal. We conclude that private and public capital possess different attributes; thus clubbing them together might result in aggregation bias. Our result estimations provide several useful policy implications.

Modeling COVID-19 Impact on Consumption and Mobility in Europe: A Legacy Toward Sustainable Business Performance

This article has explored the impact of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-induced decline in consumer durables and mobility on nitrogen dioxide (NO2) emission in Europe by providing empirical and graphical justifications based on consumer price index (CPI) and gross domestic product (GDP) deflator indexes. The empirical estimations show that carbon dioxide (CO2) and NOx emission along with other greenhouse gases drastically decreased in the wake of COVID-19-induced lockdowns and decrease in the demand of consumer goods in Europe. This means that COVID-19 improved environment in the European region. However, high cost (e.g., unemployment, loss of life, and social segregation) makes COVID-19 an unstable solution to environmental woes where positive impact of COVID-19 on environment achieved in short run cannot be guaranteed in the long run. Besides environment, COVID-19 drastically curtailed economic activities and exposed them to the risk of economic crisis particularly in case of Europe.

How Do Green Finance and Energy Efficiency Mitigate Carbon Emissions Without Reducing Economic Growth in G7 Countries?

Climate change is one of the most serious threats facing the world today. Environmental pollution and depletion of natural resources have been highlighted by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), paving the way for modern concepts such as sustainable growth to be introduced. Therefore, this research explores the relationship between green finance, energy efficiency, and CO₂ emissions in the G7 countries. The study uses panel data model technique to examine the dependence structure of green finance, energy efficiency, and CO₂ emissions. Moreover, we use DEA to construct an energy efficiency index of G7 countries. A specific interval exists between the values of the energy efficiency indexes. Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States were named the most energy-efficient countries in the world, based on results obtained for five consecutive years in this category. However, according to the comparative rankings, France and Italy are the most successful of all the G7 members, followed by the United Kingdom and Germany. Our overall findings of the econometric model confirm the negative impact of green finance and energy efficiency on CO₂ emissions; however, this relationship varies across the different quantiles of the two variables. The findings in the study confirm that green finance is the best financial strategy for reducing CO₂ emissions.
