Abstract
This paper introduces the Botox Optimization Algorithm (BOA), a novel metaheuristic inspired by the Botox operation mechanism. The algorithm is designed to address optimization problems, utilizing a human-based approach. Taking cues from Botox procedures, where defects are targeted and treated to enhance beauty, the BOA is formulated and mathematically modeled. Evaluation on the CEC 2017 test suite showcases the BOA's ability to balance exploration and exploitation, delivering competitive solutions. Comparative analysis against twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms demonstrates the BOA's superior performance across various benchmark functions, with statistically significant advantages. Moreover, application to constrained optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite highlights the BOA's effectiveness in real-world optimization tasks.

Abstract
The Internet of Things (IoT), which provides seamless connectivity between people and things, improves our quality of life. In the medical field, predictive analytics can help transform a reactive healthcare (HC) strategy into a proactive one. The HC industry embraces cutting-edge artificial intelligence and machine learning (ML) technologies. ML's area of deep learning has the revolutionary potential to reliably analyze massive volumes of data quickly, produce insightful revelations and solve challenging issues. This article proposes an energy-aware heart disease prediction (HDP) system based on enhanced spider monkey optimization (ESMO) and a weight-optimized neural network for an IoT-based HC environment. The proposed work consists of two essential phases: energy-efficient data transmission and HDP. In energy-efficient transmission, the cluster leaders are optimally selected using ESMO and the cluster formation is done based on Euclidean distance. In HDP, the patient data are collected from the dataset, and essential features are extracted. After that, the dimensionality reduction is carried out using the modified linear discriminant analysis approach to reduce over-fitting issues. Finally, the HDP uses the enhanced Archimedes weight-optimized deep neural network (EAWO-DNN). The simulation findings demonstrate that the proposed optimal clustering mechanism enhances the network's lifespan by consuming minimal energy compared to the existing techniques. Also, the proposed EAWO-DNN classifier achieves higher prediction accuracy, precision, recall and f-measure than the conventional methods for predicting heart disease in IoT.Communicated by Ramaswamy H. Abstract
This research paper develops a novel hybrid approach, called hybrid particle swarm optimization-teaching-learning-based optimization (hPSO-TLBO), by combining two metaheuristic algorithms to solve optimization problems. The main idea in hPSO-TLBO design is to integrate the exploitation ability of PSO with the exploration ability of TLBO. The meaning of "exploitation capabilities of PSO" is the ability of PSO to manage local search with the aim of obtaining possible better solutions near the obtained solutions and promising areas of the problem-solving space. Also, "exploration abilities of TLBO" means the ability of TLBO to manage the global search with the aim of preventing the algorithm from getting stuck in inappropriate local optima. hPSO-TLBO design methodology is such that in the first step, the teacher phase in TLBO is combined with the speed equation in PSO. Then, in the second step, the learning phase of TLBO is improved based on each student learning from a selected better student that has a better value for the objective function against the corresponding student. The algorithm is presented in detail, accompanied by a comprehensive mathematical model. A group of benchmarks is used to evaluate the effectiveness of hPSO-TLBO, covering various types such as unimodal, high-dimensional multimodal, and fixed-dimensional multimodal. In addition, CEC 2017 benchmark problems are also utilized for evaluation purposes. The optimization results clearly demonstrate that hPSO-TLBO performs remarkably well in addressing the benchmark functions. It exhibits a remarkable ability to explore and exploit the search space while maintaining a balanced approach throughout the optimization process. Furthermore, a comparative analysis is conducted to evaluate the performance of hPSO-TLBO against twelve widely recognized metaheuristic algorithms. The evaluation of the experimental findings illustrates that hPSO-TLBO consistently outperforms the competing algorithms across various benchmark functions, showcasing its superior performance. The successful deployment of hPSO-TLBO in addressing four engineering challenges highlights its effectiveness in tackling real-world applications.

Abstract
In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Giant Armadillo Optimization (GAO) is introduced, which imitates the natural behavior of giant armadillo in the wild. The fundamental inspiration in the design of GAO is derived from the hunting strategy of giant armadillos in moving towards prey positions and digging termite mounds. The theory of GAO is expressed and mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on simulating the movement of giant armadillos towards termite mounds, and (ii) exploitation based on simulating giant armadillos' digging skills in order to prey on and rip open termite mounds. The performance of GAO in handling optimization tasks is evaluated in order to solve the CEC 2017 test suite for problem dimensions equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that GAO is able to achieve effective solutions for optimization problems by benefiting from its high abilities in exploration, exploitation, and balancing them during the search process. The quality of the results obtained from GAO is compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The simulation results show that GAO presents superior performance compared to competitor algorithms by providing better results for most of the benchmark functions. The statistical analysis of the Wilcoxon rank sum test confirms that GAO has a significant statistical superiority over competitor algorithms. The implementation of GAO on the CEC 2011 test suite and four engineering design problems show that the proposed approach has effective performance in dealing with real-world applications.

Abstract
In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called the Lyrebird Optimization Algorithm (LOA) that imitates the natural behavior of lyrebirds in the wild is introduced. The fundamental inspiration of LOA is the strategy of lyrebirds when faced with danger. In this situation, lyrebirds scan their surroundings carefully, then either run away or hide somewhere, immobile. LOA theory is described and then mathematically modeled in two phases: (i) exploration based on simulation of the lyrebird escape strategy and (ii) exploitation based on simulation of the hiding strategy. The performance of LOA was evaluated in optimization of the CEC 2017 test suite for problem dimensions equal to 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that the proposed LOA approach has high ability in terms of exploration, exploitation, and balancing them during the search process in the problem-solving space. In order to evaluate the capability of LOA in dealing with optimization tasks, the results obtained from the proposed approach were compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The simulation results show that LOA has superior performance compared to competitor algorithms by providing better results in the optimization of most of the benchmark functions, achieving the rank of first best optimizer. A statistical analysis of the performance of the metaheuristic algorithms shows that LOA has significant statistical superiority in comparison with the compared algorithms. In addition, the efficiency of LOA in handling real-world applications was investigated through dealing with twenty-two constrained optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite and four engineering design problems. The simulation results show that LOA has effective performance in handling optimization tasks in real-world applications while providing better results compared to competitor algorithms.

Abstract
In this paper, a new bio-inspired metaheuristic algorithm named the Kookaburra Optimization Algorithm (KOA) is introduced, which imitates the natural behavior of kookaburras in nature. The fundamental inspiration of KOA is the strategy of kookaburras when hunting and killing prey. The KOA theory is stated, and its mathematical modeling is presented in the following two phases: (i) exploration based on the simulation of prey hunting and (ii) exploitation based on the simulation of kookaburras' behavior in ensuring that their prey is killed. The performance of KOA has been evaluated on 29 standard benchmark functions from the CEC 2017 test suite for the different problem dimensions of 10, 30, 50, and 100. The optimization results show that the proposed KOA approach, by establishing a balance between exploration and exploitation, has good efficiency in managing the effective search process and providing suitable solutions for optimization problems. Abstract
This article's innovation and novelty are introducing a new metaheuristic method called mother optimization algorithm (MOA) that mimics the human interaction between a mother and her children. The real inspiration of MOA is to simulate the mother's care of children in three phases education, advice, and upbringing. The mathematical model of MOA used in the search process and exploration is presented. The performance of MOA is assessed on a set of 52 benchmark functions, including unimodal and high-dimensional multimodal functions, fixed-dimensional multimodal functions, and the CEC 2017 test suite. The findings of optimizing unimodal functions indicate MOA's high ability in local search and exploitation. The findings of optimization of high-dimensional multimodal functions indicate the high ability of MOA in global search and exploration. The findings of optimization of fixed-dimension multi-model functions and the CEC 2017 test suite show that MOA with a high ability to balance exploration and exploitation effectively supports the search process and can generate appropriate solutions for optimization problems. The outcomes quality obtained from MOA has been compared with the performance of 12 often-used metaheuristic algorithms. Upon analysis and comparison of the simulation results, it was found that the proposed MOA outperforms competing algorithms with superior and significantly more competitive performance. Precisely, the proposed MOA delivers better results in most objective functions. Furthermore, the application of MOA on four engineering design problems demonstrates the efficacy of the proposed approach in solving real-world optimization problems. The findings of the statistical analysis from the Wilcoxon signed-rank test show that MOA has a significant statistical superiority compared to the twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms in managing the optimization problems studied in this paper.

Abstract
A new metaheuristic algorithm called green anaconda optimization (GAO) which imitates the natural behavior of green anacondas has been designed. The fundamental inspiration for GAO is the mechanism of recognizing the position of the female species by the male species during the mating season and the hunting strategy of green anacondas. GAO’s mathematical modeling is presented based on the simulation of these two strategies of green anacondas in two phases of exploration and exploitation. The effectiveness of the proposed GAO approach in solving optimization problems is evaluated on twenty-nine objective functions from the CEC 2017 test suite and the CEC 2019 test suite. The efficiency of GAO in providing solutions for optimization problems is compared with the performance of twelve well-known metaheuristic algorithms. The simulation results show that the proposed GAO approach has a high capability in exploration, exploitation, and creating a balance between them and performs better compared to competitor algorithms. In addition, the implementation of GAO on twenty-one optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite indicates the effective capability of the proposed approach in handling real-world applications.

Abstract
In this paper, a novel evolutionary-based method, called Average and Subtraction-Based Optimizer (ASBO), is presented to attain suitable quasi-optimal solutions for various optimization problems. The core idea in the design of the ASBO is to use the average information and the subtraction of the best and worst population members for guiding the algorithm population in the problem search space. The proposed ASBO is mathematically modeled with the ability to solve optimization problems. Twenty-three test functions, including unimodal and multimodal functions, have been employed to evaluate ASBO's performance in effectively solving optimization problems. The optimization results of the unimodal functions, which have only one main peak, show the high ASBO's exploitation power in converging towards global optima. In addition, the optimization results of the high-dimensional multimodal functions and fixed-dimensional multimodal functions, which have several peaks and local optima, indicate the high exploration power of ASBO in accurately searching the problem-solving space and not getting stuck in nonoptimal peaks. The simulation results show the proper balance between exploration and exploitation in ASBO in order to discover and present the optimal solution. In addition, the results obtained from the implementation of ASBO in optimizing these objective functions are analyzed compared with the results of nine well-known metaheuristic algorithms. Analysis of the optimization results obtained from ASBO against the performance of the nine compared algorithms indicates the superiority and competitiveness of the proposed algorithm in providing more appropriate solutions.

The method for CRN routing, however, often encounters issues with regard to road discovery, diversity of resources and mobility. In this paper, we present a reconfigurable CRN-based cross-layer routing protocol with the purpose of increasing routing performance and optimizing data transfer in reconfigurable networks. Recently developed spotted hyena optimizer (SHO) is used for tuning the hyperparameters of machine-learning models. The system produces a distributor built with a number of tasks, such as load balance, quarter sensing and the development path of machine learning. The proposed technique is sensitive to traffic and charges, as well as a series of other network metrics and interference (2bps/Hz/W average). The tests are performed with classic models that demonstrate the residual energy and strength of the resistant scalability and resource.

Abstract
Rising energy prices, increasing maintenance costs, and strict environmental regimes have augmented the already existing pressure on the contemporary manufacturing environment. Although the decentralization of supply chain has led to rapid advancements in manufacturing systems, finding an efficient supplier simultaneously from the pool of available ones as per customer requirement and enhancing the process planning and scheduling functions are the predominant approaches still needed to be addressed. Therefore, this paper aims to address this issue by considering a set of gear manufacturing industries located across India as a case study. An integrated classifier-assisted evolutionary multi-objective evolutionary approach is proposed for solving the objectives of makespan, energy consumption, and increased service utilization rate, interoperability, and reliability. To execute the approach initially, text-mining-based supervised machine-learning models, namely Decision Tree, Naïve Bayes, Random Forest, and Support Vector Machines (SVM) were adopted for the classification of suppliers into task-specific suppliers. Following this, with the identified suppliers as input, the problem was formulated as a multi-objective Mixed-Integer Linear Programming (MILP) model. We then proposed a Hybrid Multi-Objective Moth Flame Optimization algorithm (HMFO) to optimize process planning and scheduling functions. Numerical experiments have been carried out with the formulated problem for 10 different instances, along with a comparison of the results with a Non-Dominated Sorting Genetic Algorithm (NSGA-II) to illustrate the feasibility of the approach.

Abstract
Population-based optimization algorithms are one of the most widely used and popular methods in solving optimization problems. In this paper, a new population-based optimization algorithm called the Teamwork Optimization Algorithm (TOA) is presented to solve various optimization problems. The main idea in designing the TOA is to simulate the teamwork behaviors of the members of a team in order to achieve their desired goal. The TOA is mathematically modeled for usability in solving optimization problems. The capability of the TOA in solving optimization problems is evaluated on a set of twenty-three standard objective functions. Additionally, the performance of the proposed TOA is compared with eight well-known optimization algorithms in providing a suitable quasi-optimal solution. The results of optimization of objective functions indicate the ability of the TOA to solve various optimization problems. Analysis and comparison of the simulation results of the optimization algorithms show that the proposed TOA is superior and far more competitive than the eight compared algorithms.

Abstract
Optimization seeks to find inputs for an objective function that result in a maximum or minimum. Optimization methods are divided into exact and approximate (algorithms). Several optimization algorithms imitate natural phenomena, laws of physics, and behavior of living organisms. Optimization based on algorithms is the challenge that underlies machine learning, from logistic regression to training neural networks for artificial intelligence. In this paper, a new algorithm called two-stage optimization (TSO) is proposed. The TSO algorithm updates population members in two steps at each iteration. For this purpose, a group of good population members is selected and then two members of this group are randomly used to update the position of each of them. This update is based on the first selected good member at the first stage, and on the second selected good member at the second stage. We describe the stages of the TSO algorithm and model them mathematically. Performance of the TSO algorithm is evaluated for twenty-three standard objective functions. In order to compare the optimization results of the TSO algorithm, eight other competing algorithms are considered, including genetic, gravitational search, grey wolf, marine predators, particle swarm, teaching-learning-based, tunicate swarm, and whale approaches. The numerical results show that the new algorithm is superior and more competitive in solving optimization problems when compared with other algorithms.

Abstract
Soil texture and particle size fractions (PSFs) are a critical characteristic of soil that influences most physical, chemical, and biological properties of soil; furthermore, reliable spatial predictions of PSFs are crucial for agro-ecological modeling. Here, series of hybridized artificial neural network (ANN) models with bio-inspired metaheuristic optimization algorithms such as a genetic algorithm (GA-ANN), particle swarm optimization (PSO-ANN), bat (BAT-ANN), and monarch butterfly optimization (MBO-ANN) algorithms, were built for predicting PSFs for the Mazandaran Province of northern Iran. In total, 1595 composite surficial soil samples were collected, and 64 environmental covariates derived from terrain, climatic, remotely sensed, and categorical datasets were used as predictors. Models were tested using a repeated 10-fold nested cross-validation approach. The results indicate that the hybridized ANN methods were far superior to the reference approach using ANN with a backpropagation training algorithm (BP-ANN). Furthermore, the MBO-ANN approach was consistently determined to be the best approach and yielded the lowest error and uncertainty. The MBO-ANN model improved the predictions in terms of RMSE by 20% for clay, 10% for silt, and 24% for sand when compared to BP-ANN. The physiographical units, soil types, geology maps, rainfall, and temperature were the most important predictors of PSFs, followed by the terrain and remotely sensed data. This study demonstrates the effectiveness of bio-inspired algorithms for improving ANN models. The outputs of this study will support and inform sustainable soil management practices, agro-ecological modeling, and hydrological modeling for the Mazandaran Province of Iran.

Abstract
Optimization problems in various fields of science and engineering should be solved using appropriate methods. Stochastic search-based optimization algorithms are a widely used approach for solving optimization problems. In this paper, a new optimization algorithm called “the good, the bad, and the ugly” optimizer (GBUO) is introduced, based on the effect of three members of the population on the population updates. In the proposed GBUO, the algorithm population moves towards the good member and avoids the bad member. In the proposed algorithm, a new member called ugly member is also introduced, which plays an essential role in updating the population. In a challenging move, the ugly member leads the population to situations contrary to society’s movement. GBUO is mathematically modeled, and its equations are presented. GBUO is implemented on a set of twenty-three standard objective functions to evaluate the proposed optimizer’s performance for solving optimization problems. The mentioned standard objective functions can be classified into three groups: unimodal, multimodal with high-dimension, and multimodal with fixed dimension functions. There was a further analysis carried-out for eight well-known optimization algorithms. The simulation results show that the proposed algorithm has a good performance in solving different optimization problems models and is superior to the mentioned optimization algorithms.
