Abstract
To investigate the impact of the effect of high temperature stimulation on Monopterus albus larvae after a certain period of time, five experimental groups were established at different temperatures. Then, the M. albus under high temperature stress was fed at 30°C for 70 days. After that, the growth index of the M. albus was counted and analyzed. In terms of growth index, high temperature stress had significant effects on FCR, FBW, WGR, and SGR of M. albus (p < 0.05). The SR increased after being stimulated by temperature (p < 0.1). The study revealed that liver cells of M. albus were harmed by elevated temperatures of 36°C and 38°C. In the experimental group, the activities of digestive enzymes changed in the same trend, reaching the highest point in the 32°C group and then decreasing, and the AMS activity in the 38°C group was significantly different from that in the 30°C group (p < 0.05). The activities of antioxidase in liver reached the highest at 34°C, which was significantly different from those at 30°C (p < 0.05). In addition, the expression levels of TLR1, C3, TNF-α, and other genes increased in the experimental group, reaching the highest point at 34°C, and the expression level of the IL-1β gene reached the highest point at 32°C, which was significantly different from that at 30°C (p < 0.05). However, the expression level of the IRAK3 gene decreased in the experimental group and reached its lowest point at 34°C (p < 0.05). The expression level of the HSP90α gene increased with the highest temperature stimulus and reached its highest point at 38°C (p < 0.05). In the α diversity index of intestinal microorganisms in the experimental group, the observed species, Shannon, and Chao1 indexes in the 34°C group were the highest (p < 0.05), and β diversity analysis revealed that the intestinal microbial community in the experimental group was separated after high temperature stimulation. At the phylum level, the three dominant flora are Proteus, Firmicutes, and Bacteroides. Bacteroides and Macrococcus abundance increased at the genus level, but Vibrio and Aeromonas abundance decreased. To sum up, appropriate high-temperature stress can enhance the immunity and adaptability of M. albus. These results show that the high temperature stimulation of 32°C-34°C is beneficial to the industrial culture of M. albus.

Abstract
The heat waves on the South Pacific coast could lead to thermal stress in native fish. The red cusk-eel (Genypterus chilensis) is relevant for Chilean artisanal fisheries and aquaculture diversification. This study examined the effect of high-temperature stress in the gills of G. chilensis in control (14 °C) and high-temperature stress (19 °C) conditions. High-temperature stress induces a significant increase in gills cortisol levels. Additionally, oxidative damage was observed in gills (protein carbonylation and lipoperoxidation). RNA-seq data was used to build the first transcriptome assembly of gills in this species (23,656 annotated transcripts). A total of 1138 down-regulated and 1531 up-regulated transcripts were observed in response to high-temperature stress in gills. The enrichment analysis showed immune response and replication enriched processes (on down-regulated transcripts), and processes related to the folding of proteins, endoplasmic reticulum, and transporter activity (on up-regulated transcripts). The present study showed how gills could be affected by high-temperature stress.

Abstract
Chronic heat stress can have detrimental effects on the survival of fish. This study aimed to investigate the impact of prolonged high temperatures on the growth, antioxidant capacity, apoptosis, and transcriptome analysis of Hong Kong catfish (Clarias fuscus). By analyzing the morphological statistics of C. fuscus subjected to chronic high-temperature stress for 30, 60, and 90 days, it was observed that the growth of C. fuscus was inhibited compared to the control group. The experimental group showed a significant decrease in body weight and body length compared to the control group after 60 and 90 days of high-temperature stress (p < 0.05, p < 0.01). A biochemical analysis revealed significant alterations in the activities of three antioxidant enzymes superoxide dismutase activity (SOD); catalase activity (CAT); glutathione peroxidase activity (GPx), the malondialdehyde content (MDA), and the concentrations of serum alkaline phosphatase (ALP); Aspartate aminotransferase (AST); and alanine transaminase (ALT) in the liver. TUNEL staining indicated stronger apoptotic signals in the high-temperature-stress group compared to the control group, suggesting that chronic high-temperature-induced oxidative stress, leading to liver tissue injury and apoptosis. Transcriptome analysis identified a total of 1330 DEGs, with 835 genes being upregulated and 495 genes being downregulated compared to the control group. These genes may be associated with oxidative stress, apoptosis, and immune response. The findings elucidate the growth changes in C. fuscus under chronic high temperature and provide insights into the underlying response mechanisms to a high-temperature environment.

Abstract
Described as the 'main ecological factor', temperature, strongly affects the physiological stress responses of fish. In order to evaluate the effects of temperature variations on fish culture and food value chain, the present study was designed as a climate change model. Furthermore, the present study provides a theoretical basis for a better understanding of the mechanisms of the environmentally induced changes. In this direction, we examined the blood physiology and oxidative stress responses induced by temperature variation in the rainbow trout, a temperature-sensitive cold-water fish. The obtained results showed that climate changes promoted the inhibited activities' expressions and the development of potential tissue and hematological defense mechanisms against temperature-induced toxic damage. This study showed that climate change could be a subset of the studies on the stress physiology in aquaculture, which can be developed for new experimental designs and research collaborations. Furthermore, it highlights knowledge gaps to guide future research in this emerging field.

Abstract
Qingtian paddy field carp (PF-carp) is a local carp cultivated in the paddy field of Qingtian, Zhejiang. This rice-fish co-culture system has been recognized as one of the Globally Important Agriculture Heritage Systems (GIAHS). PF-carp has been acclimatized to the high-temperature environment of shallow paddy fields after several centuries of domestication. To reveal the physiological and molecular regulatory mechanisms of PF-carp, we chose to use 28°C as the control group and 34°C as the treatment group. We measured biochemical parameters in their serum and hepatopancreases and also performed transcriptome sequencing analysis. Compared with the control group, the serum levels of malondialdehyde (MDA), glucose (GLU), glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px), catalase (CAT), alanine aminotransferase (ALT), and aspartate aminotransferase (AST) show no significant change. In addition, superoxide dismutase (SOD), GSH-Px, and CAT also show no significant change in hepatopancreases. We identified 1,253 differentially expressed genes (DEGs), and their pathway analysis revealed that heat stress affected AMPK signaling pathway, protein export, and other biological processes. It is worth noting that protein processing in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) was the most significantly enriched pathway identified by the Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) and gene set enrichment analysis (GSEA). Significantly higher levels of HSP40, HSP70, HSP90, and other ubiquitin ligase-related genes were upregulated. In summary, heat stress did not lead to tissue damage, inflammation, oxidative stress, and ER stress in the hepatopancreases of PF-carp. This study provides valuable insights into the adaptation mechanism of this species to the high-temperature environment of paddy fields.

Abstract
Heat is a powerful stressor for fish living in natural and artificial environments. Understanding the effects of heat stress on the physiological processes of fish is essential for better aquaculture and fisheries management. In this experiment, a heating rod was used to increase the temperature at 2°C/h to study the changes of energy allocation (CEA) and energy metabolity-related enzyme activities, including pepsin, trypsin, amylase, lipase, acid phosphatase, lactate dehydrogenase, alanine aminotransferase, glutamic oxalic aminotransferase and energy reserve (Ea), energy expenditure (ETS), in juvenile yellowfin tuna cells under acute temperature stress. The results showed that the Ea of juvenile yellowfin tuna muscles in response to high temperature (34°C) was significantly lower than that of the control (28°C), and it also increased ETS. At 6 h, CEA decreased slightly in the high-temperature group, but, the difference in CEA between 24 h and 0 h decreased. After heat stress for 6 h, the activities of acid phosphatase (ACP), lactate dehydrogenase (LDH), alanine aminotransferase (ALT) and glutamic oxalacetic transaminase (AST) increased, indicating that the metabolic rate was accelerated. After heat stress for 24 h, the activity of ALT decreased, indicating that with time elapsed, the activities of some protein metabolizing enzymes increased, and some decreased. In this study, digestive enzymes, trypsin and lipase increased gradually. After heat stress, Ea and Ec change significantly. Yellowfin tuna muscles use lipids in response to sharp temperature increases at high temperatures, red muscles respond to temperature changes by increasing energy in the early stages, but not nearly as much, and white muscles reduce lipids.

Abstract
Trachinotus ovatus is a major economically important cultured marine fish in the South China Sea. However, extreme weather and increased culture density result in uncontrollable problems, such as increases in water temperature and a decline in dissolved oxygen (DO), hindering the high-quality development of aquaculture. In this study, liver transcriptional profiles of T. ovatus were investigated under acute high-temperature stress (31 °C and 34 °C) and normal water temperature (27 °C) using RNA sequencing (RNA-Seq) technology. Differential expression analysis and STEM analysis showed that 1347 differentially expressed genes (DEGs) and four significant profiles (profiles 0, 3, 4, and 7) were screened, respectively. Of these DEGs, some genes involved in heat shock protein (HSPs), hypoxic adaptation, and glycolysis were up-regulated, while some genes involved in the ubiquitin-proteasome system (UPS) and fatty acid metabolism were down-regulated. Our results suggest that protein dynamic balance and function, hypoxia adaptation, and energy metabolism transformation are crucial in response to acute high-temperature stress. Our findings contribute to understanding the molecular response mechanism of T. ovatus under acute heat stress, which may provide some reference for studying the molecular mechanisms of other fish in response to heat stress.
